Niagara Man Guilty in Disturbing Child Sex Case

By Bill Sawchuk, St. Catharines Standard

St. Catharines, Ontario Courthouse

A 34-year-old Niagara Falls, Ontario man pleaded guilty Monday in a St. Catharines courtroom to two child pornography charges and two child sex charges.

The guilty plea was the result of a major Internet child sexual abuse investigation by Niagara Regional Police, which they called Project Iceberg.

In an earlier court proceeding, a Niagara mother pleaded guilty to exploiting her daughter for her own gain, including making her four-year-old available to be sexually assaulted by others. She is now the subject of an ongoing dangerous offender hearing.

The man in court Monday isn’t related to the woman or her daughter. All their names are subject to a publication ban to protect the identity of the four-year-old victim.

He met the woman on social media through a shared interest in child pornography, assistant Crown attorney Pat Vadaccino said while reading from an agreed statement of facts that was part of a plea deal.

The two discussed sexual assaulting the woman’s daughter through explicit text messages.

Text messages also revealed he travelled to the woman’s home.

Niagara Falls, Canada

Judge Joseph Nadel accepted the plea deal. He ordered the man undergo a forensic psychiatric assessment before he is sentenced. The man is due back in court Feb. 17 to begin that process.

The man pleaded guilty to one count of making and one count of possessing child pornography. The man also pleaded guilty to making arrangements to commit a sexual offence against a child and one count of exposing his genitals to a child.

In an equally disturbing revelation, court heard that the man was in a common-law relationship with another woman and was the stay-at-home caregiver to three of his own children, including five- and six-year-old daughters. He also has two other children from a previous relationship.

In the text messages seized by the police and read into the record by Vadaccino, he said he was going to sexually assault his own daughter — “when the time is right.”

Vadaccino told the court she didn’t know which of his children he was talking about.

She said Family and Children’s Services had interviewed the children; and, at this point, there is no evidence they have been assaulted.

The mother of three of man’s children was in court to hear the plea. She is no longer with him and devastated by the revelations.

“I wanted to hear the words come out of his mouth,” the 31-year-old woman from Niagara Falls said outside the courtroom after the hearing. “At the video remands, he had a smirk on his face like he had done nothing wrong. I don’t think he should ever get out of jail.

I don't think so either, but this is Canada and that's not going to happen. Hopefully, he won't get out until all those children are adults.

“My kids’ lives have been turned upside down. He was doing this while I was away at work supporting my family.

“He quit his job because we didn’t have child care. I was working 60 hours a week to support my family. They knew Mommy was always working, and Daddy was there to take care of them.”

She said on the day he was arrested, she was at work. Police smashed her door down and tore her house apart looking for evidence.

“When I got home, he was gone, already arrested, but I was a wreck. I had no idea what was going on."

Surely the police could have handled that a little better, or a lot better. Police need to review their procedures for such cases. In fact, the woman might have grounds for a lawsuit.

“He had a separate text messaging box on his phone. That’s where he was doing this stuff. I’m not technological. I don’t know a lot about computers and stuff like that.

“I am glad the police got him before I did — or I would have been facing charges.”

Yeah, you and me both!

The man was one of six people arrested on 77 charges in August 2016 following a nine-month investigation by the NRP as part of Project Iceberg.

The investigation began in November 2015 as the NRP’s criminal investigation branch was probing the aggravated assault of a 38-year-old Niagara man.

During the stabbing investigation, officers heard allegations about the possible sexual assault of a young child. Detectives from the child abuse unit and Internet child exploitation unit were called in.

The investigation eventually drew in more than a dozen units within the NRP as well as assistance from Toronto Police Service’s sex crimes-child exploitation section.

More than 60 electronic devices were seized for forensic examination, including computers, cellphones, memory cards, gaming consoles, laptops, tablets, iPods, cameras, CDs and DVDs.

There were also several saved messages from Nightlinechat, a phone chatline. Several of the recordings were conversations where the mother offered to send sexually explicit photographs of her daughter to unknown males in exchange for money.

Highly Respected Female Teacher Jailed for Extreme Child Pornography

A 'highly-respected' teacher used her school USB stick
to store graphic child sex abuse images which
she had swapped with a 'fellow paedo' in the US

Caroline Parry, 45, was head of English at Bishopsgarth School in Stockton, Teesside, UK when she began swapping sick fantasies with the man online.

Caroline Parry (pictured arriving at Teesside Crown Court), 45, was head of English at a Middlesbrough secondary school when the authorities realised she was swapping sick fantasies with a man in the US

The married mother-of-three then spent six years exchanging photographs with the man of children as young as two.

When police raided her home, they discovered 20 child abuse images on her laptop and USB stick, along with a series of messages in which the disgraced teacher said the child victims were 'loving' what was happening to them.

The court was also told how Parry revelled in the idea of being a 'fellow paedo'.

At a previous hearing Parry, of Ormesby, Middlesbrough, pleaded guilty to making and possessing indecent images of children and possession of extreme pornography involving a horse in an admission which sent 'shockwaves' through the teaching profession.

She has now been jailed for 18 months, after a judge described her 'fall from grace' as 'nothing less than spectacular'.

Handing down the sentence, Judge Stephen Ashurst said: 'You are regarded by the outside world as being a responsible mother.

'You have been well-respected for many years as a senior teacher at a local school.

'Your marriage is now in tatters, your home life disrupted, your career in ruins and, I am sure you will appreciate, all of this is self-inflicted.'

Judge Ashurst described how she maintained an online relationship with the man for 'a number of years' after he described his sexual preferences in 'explicit details'.

'He described his sexual preferences for sex with children - in particular very young girls and also with their mothers - and he sent very disturbing still and moving images to you,' he said.

'Far from being repulsed by what you were either viewing or downloading, you encouraged him in his sick fantasies. He referred to you as being a "fellow paedo" and you went along with that.'

The court was told how, when police raided her home, they found 20 indecent images of children - both moving and still - with 16 of them being of the most serious category.

The judge said Parry described the child victims as 'cute' what was happening to them, despite the images showing serious abuse by adults of children as young as two.

He added that the local community could be reassured that the victims were not family members or pupils.

But he said that, regardless of where they lived in the world, the gravity of the offending was such that an immediate custodial sentence could not be avoided.

Parry was put on the sex offenders register for 10 years and made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order for the same period.

At a previous hearing Parry admitted making and possessing indecent images of children and one count of possessing extreme pornography involving a horse. She was jailed after appearing at Teesside Crown Court (pictured)

Harry Hadfield, prosecuting, said the investigation was launched by the National Crime Agency while it was looking into the conduct of the man in the US.

On the USB stick which contained images of abuse, they also found school materials relating to Key Stages 4 and 5, he said.

Rachael Dyson, defending, said Parry was 'extremely remorseful for her actions' and keen to work with the authorities to address her behaviour.

She described her as working long hours.

'It is expected that her arrest, charge and guilty plea has sent shockwaves through that profession - people being completely surprised that a woman who had been so highly-respected would commit offences of this nature,' she said.

After the hearing, Colin Radcliffe, operations manager at the NCA's CEOP Command, said: 'Whilst there is no evidence that Caroline Parry abused her position of trust at her place of work, we consider that she poses a significant risk due to the nature of the images she was downloading and viewing.

'The chat logs which she had engaged in seemed to span a number of years, and were extreme in nature.

'Individuals who think they can share indecent images of children under the radar of law enforcement should know that we will pursue them and ensure they are brought to justice.'

A spokesman for Bishopsgarth School said: 'Ms Parry is no longer employed by the school and we would like to reassure our parents and carers that these offences are in no way related to the school or its pupils.

'Furthermore, we have very robust policies and procedures in place to safeguard and protect children in our care.'

An NSPCC spokesman added: ‘This was an appalling crime committed by someone who was trusted to look after children.

'To deal in these images – each one of which shows an innocent child suffering sexual abuse – fuels a demand for this vile market.

'Her despicable behaviour has been rightly punished. Hopefully this will send a message that this is not a victimless crime. Every picture is a snapshot of a child’s life being severely damaged.’

Life Without Parole in Child Sex Abuse Case

Andre-Marco McIntosh. (Jail photo)

GATESVILLE, Texas (KWTX) Andre-Marco McIntosh, 32, of Copperas Cove, was sentenced to life in prison without parole Monday after pleading guilty to charges stemming from the sexual abuse of two children over the course of two-and-a-half years.

One of the victims, a boy, said he was abused weekly over that period and the other, a girl, said she was abused every other week.

McIntosh denied the abuse when officers first interviewed him, but then scheduled the guilty plea after he was indicted, Coryell County District Attorney Dustin Boyd said.

Copperas Cove police began an investigation on April 1, 2015 after a girl and a boy, both of whom are younger than 14, made outcries about the abuse, which they said had been taking place since 2012.

The children were sexually assaulted “multiple times,” Copperas Cove police said in a press release Wednesday.

Mcintosh was arrested without incident on April 8, 2015 at the Copperas Cove Police Department, authorities said.

By Joanna Menagh
Perth, Western Australia
Another Perth man has admitted his part in a paedophile ring that involved the repeated abuse of a 13-year-old girl.

Nicholas Adam Beer has appeared in Perth Magistrates Court and officially pleaded guilty to 163 charges including sexually penetrating a child, indecently recording a child and distributing child exploitation material.

Beer was one of eight men, including the girl's father, who were charged (with more than 500 offences) in July last year when the paedophile ring was uncovered by police after a tip-off from a member of the public.

The father, who cannot be named to protect the identity of his daughter, has pleaded guilty to hundreds of charges and is due to be sentenced later this year in the District Court.

He arranged for men to meet his daughter and sexually abuse her.

A former Christian pastor, David Volmer, admitted his involvement in the ring last year and was sentenced to more than 10 years' jail for offences including giving the girl a stupefying substance so he could abuse her.

The Perth District Court was told Volmer had three sexual meetings with the girl after her father answered an advertisement he placed online for sexual massages.

Judge Jonathan Rose told the jury of six men and six women: "You may see reference to this in the press but it's the evidence in court that you will gather.

"This defendant has already pleaded guilty to two offences, you will hear more about them in detail when Miss Blackwell opens the case to you on Friday."

He said they must come to a decision on the remaining two charges.

"It will be for you and only you to determine if he is guilty or not guilty."

Mr Johnson, who was born in Sunderland, began his career at Middlesbrough before moving to Manchester City and then on to Sunderland for £10m in 2012.
