The Monster of the Andes > Colombian man convicted of raping and murdering 110 girls - set free!

Monster raped and killed hundreds of little girls but his whereabouts is unknown

One of history's most notorious serial killers, who admitted to murdering hundreds of individuals, was shockingly released early from prison - and his current whereabouts remain unknown to this day.

Pedro Alonzo Lopez, originally from Colombia, is infamously known as the Monster of the Andes.

According to reports, his extensive killing spree began after being incarcerated in 1969 for auto theft. While serving time, he was reportedly sexually assaulted by other inmates, and he retaliated by killing them with a makeshift weapon.

This incident only extended his original sentence by two years - but following his release in 1978, he began sexually assaulting and killing dozens of young girls across Colombia, Ecuador, and Peru.

The predator preyed on vulnerable girls from impoverished backgrounds, and after kidnapping, sexually assaulting, and strangling them to death, he concealed their bodies with newspapers or branches.

At his peak, he was reportedly killing three girls per week, but when a flash flood struck near Ambato in Ecuador in 1979, some of his victims were discovered.

As these horrifying finds were being made, Lopez attempted to abduct a 12-year-old girl named Maria Poveda. Fortunately, the girl's mother was able to stop the kidnapping in Ambato, before he was apprehended by police.

During this period, authorities uncovered 53 graves containing girls ranging in age from nine to 12.

Lopez was ultimately convicted of killing a shocking 110 individuals, and he is reported to have posed with the skull of one of his victims. During the trial, he alleged that he endured an abusive childhood, witnessing men having sexual relations with his mother, who worked as a prostitute.

He claimed he was a victim of violence himself - and that he was expelled from the home at age eight when his mother discovered him sexually assaulting his younger sister.

He traveled to Bogota to live on the streets before an older man provided him shelter. According to Lopez, he was sexually abused by him, before eventually escaping to an orphanage, where he stated he was sodomized again.

Following his arrest, he also informed authorities that young girls in Ecuador were his preferred
victims because they were "more gentle and trusting, more innocent".

Disturbingly, according to reports, the monster also admitted to an additional 240 murders.

Police officer Rothman Rios stated: "It was weird, he remembered everything. And descriptions of all the girls. "He knew where their bodies were. He was satisfied showing us the bodies. He felt no remorse, no guilt, no nothing."

Despite his heinous crimes, Ecuadorian laws at the time stipulated that the maximum prison sentence was only 16 years, regardless of the number of victims involved.

Bizarrely, 32 years ago this month (on August 31, 1994), he was released early for displaying "good behaviour" during his 14 years of incarceration.

Upon regaining his freedom, he was deported back to Colombia where he faced trial for murder charges that fit his profile. However, these court proceedings determined that he was insane, and in 1998 he was committed to a psychiatric facility.

Eventually, he was declared mentally sound and permitted to leave after posting £50 bail.

Among the conditions imposed was a requirement to report to the police station monthly - but he failed to comply.

It remains unclear whether he is still alive or his current whereabouts if he is living.

An Interpol arrest warrant was issued in 2002 but the serial killer was never apprehended.

A documentary titled Monster of the Andes was produced about Lopez by CandI in 2019.

And during one chilling interview from his prison cell, Lopez referred to himself as the "man of the century" and said that murdering kids made him feel "stronger and bigger".

Man Allegedly Held Wife, 7 Children and Mother-in-Law

Captive for 20 Years, Sexually Abusing Several of Them

One of the suspect's daughters escaped their home and reported him to police, per local authorities.

A father and husband in Brazil is accused by police of sexually abusing and imprisoning his wife, their seven children and his mother-in-law for two decades, according to multiple reports.

The alleged crimes came to light after one of the daughters escaped the home in Novo Oriente de Minas in the state of Minas Gerais, local police said, per several Brazilian outlets including Guia MuriaeDiario Do Rio Doce and O Tempo

The 54-year-old man, who has not been named in the reports, allegedly held his 40-year-old wife captive for almost the entirety of their marriage, Herika Ribeiro Sena of the Regional Civil Police station in Teofilo Otoni said, per Guia Muriae, Diario Do Rio Doce and O Tempo.

“The victim only left the house to receive benefits and was often accompanied by him,” Sena said, per Guia Muriae and O Tempo.

“None of the neighbors knew her, not even her relatives had access to her,” she said. (The translation of the quotes varied slightly for the outlets).

The couple’s children, between the ages of 3 and 22, were also victimized by him, per police, the outlets reported.

The daughters allege they had been sexually abused by their father, police said, according to O Tempo and Folhadoes

Police allege the daughters claimed the man drilled holes into the walls of the house so he could see them taking showers and getting dressed, per Guia Muriae, Diario Do Rio Doce and O Tempo.

The man also allegedly sexually abused his now-deceased mother-in-law, police allege, per the outlets. Police further allege the woman died after falling ill and not being given proper care.

The man is further accused of burying three fetuses on the property after forcing his wife to have three miscarriages by making her take medication, police say, per Guia Muriae and O Tempo.

The man is being charged with false imprisonment, rape of a vulnerable person, psychological violence, abortion and concealment of a corpse, per Sena, Diario Do Rio DoceO Tempo and Folhadoes reported.

“What this daughter did is very important: bringing what was happening to the public so that action could be taken,” Sena said, per all three outlets.

The suspect is in custody and has denied all charges against him, per Guia Muriae, Diario Do Rio Doce and O Tempo.

Creep Alert:

DANGEROUS PREDATOR Serial sex attacker known as the

Coronation Street rapist to be released from prison despite appeal

A SERIAL rapist is to be released from prison despite an appeal from the justice secretary.

Andrew Barlow known as the “Coronation Street rapist” was convicted of 13 attacks on women carried out in the 1980s.

The Parole Board has rejected an application by Dominic Raab to cancel his scheduled release.

Barlow, from Bolton, was jailed for life in 1988 and given a minimum term of 20 years for 11 rapes, three attempted rapes and other offences.

He was found guilty of a 12th rape in 2010 and another one in 2017.

Barlow largely carried out his attacks in the Manchester area and became known as the “Coronation Street rapist” because his victims mainly lived in terraced houses in the north of England.

He attacked a 26-year-old woman in her Sheffield home while her terrified three-year-old daughter hid behind a settee.

Barlow would often break into the homes of victims and use weapons to threaten them, and in one case caused injury, before assaulting them.

Many times he carried out his attacks while children were in the same house.

In December the Parole Board decided Barlow could be released having spent more than 34 years in prison.

It has since rejected an appeal from Raab who said the panel had "failed to take proper account of the evidence regarding risk and in particular the expert psychology evidence".

Reports on Barlow from two psychologists slightly differed over his safety, with one saying he was considered safe while the other said he should undergo further tests in an open jail before being confirmed for release.

In rejecting Raab’s application, the Parole Board said: "there has been no misdirection of law", and the panel had considered "all the evidence".

Members of the panel favoured the report of the first psychologist, adding “it was entitled to reach that conclusion”.

The board claimed that Barlow’s “risk management plan with its extensive list of conditions” would be “sufficiently robust” to manage his return to life outside of prison.

It said: "The whole panel would be aware of the correct test and the panel was chaired by a very experienced retired judge who also has considerable experience of parole hearings and applying the statutory test.”

The board’s decision may be challenged by an appeal in the High Court.

A representative for the Ministry of Justice said the case "emphasises the need for reform of the parole system" and "ministerial oversight of the most serious cases".

Following the re-arrest in 2021 of Colin Pitchfork, who raped and murdered two teenage girls in the 1980s, Raab said he wanted to see a more cautious approach to future parole decisions.

After all, the Parole Board is risking the lives and well-being of innocent women and children. Sexual predators should only be released when the evidence of change is overwhelming.

Dominic Raab is Deputy PM, Secretary of State for Justice, and Lord Chancellor. It takes a lot of nerve to ignore someone with that kind of power. Or, perhaps there's a better word than 'nerve'?

PREDATOR DEAD Paedophile Andrew Hadwin who tortured and

raped children and fed them soap is found dead in cell before sentencing

Holly Christodoulou, The Sun
Published: 13:24, 3 Feb 2023, Updated: 14:05, 3 Feb 2023

A PAEDO who starved, fed children soap and physically abused them along with his partner has been found dead in jail.

Cheryl Pickles, 35, and Andrew Hadwin, 39, forced the hungry kids to scavenge for food in supermarket bins.

He was awaiting sentencing alongside his partner

They also locked the children in cupboards and made them take boiling hot showers and baths.

Hadwin has now been found dead at HMP Durham while awaiting sentencing, Mail Online reports.

The Ministry of Justice said: "HMP Durham prisoner Andrew Hadwin died on 2 February. As with all deaths in custody, the Prisons and Probation Ombudsman will investigate."

Hadwin was last month found guilty of three counts of rape, seven counts of neglect, and one count of perverting the course of justice but cleared of sexual activity with a child.

The rape relates to the non-recent abuse of another child, which happened when she was little.

His partner Pickles was convicted of five counts of child cruelty and one of perverting the course of justice. She was found not guilty of sexual activity with a child.

The evil pair were due to be sentenced on April 28.

Teesside Crown Court heard how the couple starved the children so badly they endured four mile walks to scavenge from bins.

One terrified child was held over a motorway bridge during a horrific campaign of torture.

Hadwin and Pickles also forced the children to watch while standing in stress positions as they ate takeaways in front of them.

They dunked their heads underwater and made the children take scalding hot baths and showers.

As a result of the vile abuse, the kids suffered painful injuries, with one child left with life-limiting injuries.

The sickening crimes finally came to an end in 2018 when one of the brave children told an adult what was happening.

When the abuse was finally uncovered, the evil couple hatched a sick plot to hide their tracks. Pickles and Hadwin wrote fake letters from the children saying: "We are sorry, we told lies".

A probe was launched by Durham Police, with Hadwin and Pickles trying to worm their way out with the letters. But a handwriting expert debunked the fake notes and found they had actually been written in a notebook found at the couple’s home.

The pair were remanded in custody to be sentenced on April 28.

Detective Constable Kat Pudney, of Durham Constabulary’s Safeguarding Unit, said: "This was an extremely complex and distressing investigation for all involved, the likes of which I have never encountered during my time as a police officer.

“Hadwin and Pickles subjected several vulnerable children to multiple forms of abuse, robbing them of their childhood, and undoubtedly leaving them with psychological wounds which they may never truly recover from.

“I want to highlight how incredibly brave these children have been throughout this lengthy investigation - their strength to stand up to their abusers must be commended.

“Hadwin and Pickles have lied to police and other professionals, and attempted to blame others throughout this investigation, in an attempt to divert the attention away from themselves.

“I am delighted that the jury have returned these verdicts, ultimately protecting further children from falling victim to their manipulative and abhorrent behaviour.

“I hope this result will allow the children to close this chapter of their lives and start their healing journey.”

Where did they get the children from? Were the foster parents? Did child welfare hand over several kids to these two monsters? Is there an investigation going on? There should be.

Baby P’s mum Tracey Connelly FREED after seven year jail term

– and starts new life in secret bail hostel

BABY P's evil mum Tracey Connelly has walked free from prison for the first time in SEVEN years.

Tom Wells
17:59, 7 Jul 2022

The monster, 40, was driven under cover of darkness from HMP Low Newton, Co Durham, on Wednesday to a secret bail hostel to begin her new life.

She will now begin her latest attempt at rehabilitation under some of the toughest licence conditions on record. Connelly’s every move will be monitored by probation chiefs. And any breach of her release terms could see her sent straight back to jail.

Sources say Connelly had mulled over a makeover to help her slip back into society unnoticed.

Similar moves were made to aid monster mum Karen Matthews in 2012 - leading to The Sun’s front page headline, ‘Devil in Disguise’.

But she is understood to have opted against it, partly because her distinctive frame still tips the scales at more than 18 stone.

Connelly was released after a last-ditch appeal by ministers failed. Deputy PM Dominic Raab had asked a judge to overturn the Parole Board's "irrational" ruling. But his bid was thrown out.

Furious Mr Raab blasted the decision at the time, vowing to "overhaul" the entire parole system.

Speaking tonight, Deputy PM and Justice Secretary Dominic Raab told The Sun: “Tracey Connelly’s cruelty was pure evil, which is why I strongly opposed her release.

“The decision to let her out demonstrates why the Parole Board needs a fundamental overhaul, including a ministerial block, to protect the public and keep dangerous offenders off our streets.”

Connelly, who was jailed over the 2007 death of 17-month-old Peter, won her parole bid in March.

Mr Raab had demanded the Parole Board reconsider its "irrational" decision. His lawyers pointed to the panel had given too much weight to the controls that could be imposed on Connelly once free.

And they argued the Board had failed to provide "sufficient reasons" for its ruling. But a judge threw out the appeal, citing witnesses who backed Connelly's release.

A Parole Board spokesman said at the time: "Following the reconsideration application from the Secretary of State, a judge has ruled that the decision made by independent Parole Board members to release was not irrational, as stated in the reconsideration application, and the original decision is upheld."

Connelly's parole bid was her fourth since being recalled to prison in February 2015. She lost appeals in 2015, 2017 and 2019, with officials finding she still posed a threat to the public.

And what is it that makes them think she is no longer a threat?

Connelly was given an indefinite term with a minimum of five years in 2009 for causing or allowing the death of Peter in Tottenham, North London, in August 2007.

He had suffered 50 injuries and months of abuse at the hands of his mum, stepdad Steven Barker and Barker's brother, Jason Owen.

Blunders by social workers and medics meant warning signs were not acted on to save his life.

A FEMALE supply teacher has appeared in court after being accused of grooming a schoolboy for sex.

Ammy Singleton, 28, from Port Augusta, Australia is accused of inappropriately communicating with a child between November 1 and 30 last year.

Police arrested the woman on December 23 before she first appeared in court on February 14 on sex offence charges.

Port Augusta West Primary School principal David Lawton issued a letter to parents to inform them that Ms Singleton has worked at the school for one day in July, 2020.

Mr Lawton stressed that the alleged sex offence took place with a student from a different school.

“Police have advised the Department for Education they do not have any objections to the department informing the school community," he wrote.

“This incident does not involve any students at our school and the information available to the school suggests there is no need for any concern for any children at our school.

“Ms Singleton has bail conditions that prevent her from engaging in any child-related work. If you have any concerns about the safety and welfare of your child, please feel free to contact me directly at the school.”

Ms Singleton is due to appear in court in Port Augusta again on July 20.

No further details on the case have been released by South Australian police.

My rapist stepdad was jailed for just seven years, he ruined my life

– justice has not been done

A TEENAGER has slammed the sentence handed to her rapist stepdad after he was jailed for just seven years.

Rebekah Simpson - targeted by depraved James Freeman, 50, when she was just 10 - said: “Justice has not been done."

Beautiful girl, could be a stunt double for Emma Stone.

She bravely reported him to police and last month he was convicted for the abuse that include two charges of rape.

Earlier this week, the beast watched court proceedings from his jail via a monitor as he was sentenced to serve seven years in jail.

But Rebekah, now 19, who waived her right to anonymity, said: “He should have been jailed for longer.

“I have to live with the life sentence he has given me but he will be out in just seven years, that’s not justice. He could easily be back out on the streets in a few years to get on with the rest of his life. It’s just not fair.

“I was told he would get a substantial sentence and this isn’t nearly large enough for what he has done. He deserves to go to prison but it should be for longer.

“It’s not good enough. This man has ruined my life and ripped my family apart. He took my innocence away and left me with painful physical medical conditions as well as the trauma of the abuse.

“I feel let down by this, it doesn’t feel like justice has been done. I have to live with all this for the rest of my life now - that’s my sentence - it will be with me forever.”

Manipulative Freeman wed Rebekah’s mum in 2014 and took care of her as her unwell mother was in and out of hospital.

We told how he preyed on the vulnerable schoolgirl and sexually abused her before raping her at family homes in Aberdeen and Banff, Aberdeenshire.

When she finally reported Freeman to cops she was too scared to go home and stayed with a foster family then moved to a care home for months.

Passing sentence the High Court in Edinburgh, judge Simon Collins QC, said: “You were convicted of three charges of sexual assault following trial.

“Your actions showed that you groomed her and your actions also show that you are responsible for a gross and prolonged violation of the position of trust that you had found yourself in.

“Clearly a custodial sentence is the only appropriate disposal available to this court.”

Freeman will be supervised for three years once he is released and will be on the Sex Offenders Register for the rest of his life.

Boy, 14, GUILTY of murdering ‘loving family man’ dad-of-three

who confronted gang of yobs who abused his daughter

A TEENAGE boy has been found guilty of the murder of a dad-of-three who confronted the youth after his daughter was taunted.

James Markham, 45, was stabbed in the back, armpit and chest by the boy, who had already been banned from the area by a criminal behaviour order.

The Old Bailey was told the neighbourhood in Chingford, East London had become a hotspot for antisocial behaviour.

Stone mason Mr Markham grabbed a drill bit and went out to confront the group of youths in August last year after daughter Chloe was verbally abused.

A Met Police spokesman said: "A member of James's family saw a dispute, but her view was restricted and she hadn't realised it was James who the teenagers were arguing with.

"James had approached the group with a drill bit in an apparent attempt to scare them off.

"One of the group advanced, armed with a knife, and the pair began swinging at each other. James was struck three times - in the back, armpit and chest. The latter injury pierced his lung and would prove fatal.

"A member of the public who had tried to intervene came to James's aid as the teenager and the rest of the group fled the scene.

"James's frantic family rushed down from their home to try to help him."

Cops who dashed to the scene began CPR. Despite their efforts, Mr Markham couldn't be saved. Witnesses later said his wife Candice's screams could be heard throughout the street as he died in her arms.

The killer teen had dropped his phone as he ran. He was quickly arrested, making no comment in police interviews. The boy, now 15, cannot be named for legal reasons. He will be sentenced on August 26.

He was also convicted of possession of an offensive weapon.

Mrs Markham told the Mirror after her husband's death that gangs of teens had been terrorising Chingford "just doing what they like".

"There's no police. They're kids - 14 and 15," she said.

“My daughter didn’t know them, one of her friends knew one of them from school.”

Detective Inspector John Marriot of the Met said: "James was a loving family man who leaves behind a partner and three children.

"That day they were met with a horrific scenario that no family should have to endure. I hope this conviction will provide them with some small measure of comfort as they continue to grieve James."

He said the killer should "never have been in the area" in the first place after being handed a Criminal Behaviour Order, which he had repeatedly flouted.

How many miscreants actually obey Criminal Behaviour Orders? And what are the consequences if they don't?
