Ex-police officer pleads guilty to lesser charge in Hampton sex assault case

HAMPTON — A former Massachusetts police officer accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Hampton in 2023 has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge to resolve the case.

Dylan Bryant, 30, from Gardner, Massachusetts, pleaded guilty Sept. 16 in Rockingham Superior Court to a misdemeanor charge of simple assault (physical contact or bodily injury) as part of a plea agreement with prosecutors.

He was sentenced to one year in jail, suspended for three years pending good behavior. As part of the deal, prosecutors dropped two felony counts of aggravated felonious sexual assault.

Sometimes cops get really good plea deals even though they should always be considered for aggravated sexual assaults.

Former Massachusetts police officer Dylan Bryant, accused of sexually assaulting a woman in Hampton in 2022, has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge to resolve the case.

Assistant County Attorney Roger Chadwick stated in his notice to not prosecute the felony charges that Bryant pleaded "to a reduced charge with the agreement of the victim."

Bryant was indicted by a Rockingham County grand jury in July 2023. He resigned as a police officer in Gardner, Massachusetts, after the indictment was handed up by the grand jury. The Massachusetts Peace Officer Standards and Training Commission also suspended Bryant's law enforcement license.

The indictments alleged the sex assault took place in Hampton between May 28 and 30 of 2022, and the woman was “physically helpless to resist.”

The simple assault charge to which Bryant pleaded guilty stemmed from allegations he "engaged in unprivileged physical contact with (the victim) while the (victim) was intoxicated and he did so without her permission."

As part of the suspended jail sentence, Bryant was ordered by the judge to have no contact with the victim and remain on good behavior for the next three years. Good behavior was defined by the judge as no contact with the victim and "no new felonies, misdemeanors or major motor vehicle offenses as defined in the habitual offender statute."

Former Northwest Arkansas daycare worker gets 230 years for sexual assault, possessing child porn

BENTONVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA)A former Northwest Arkansas daycare worker pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 230 years after he sexually assaulted two children and possessed child pornography.

Christian Sellars, 22 (Courtesy: Benton County Detention Center)

Christian Sellars, 22, entered his guilty plea during a hearing on Tuesday to two counts of sexual assault and 19 counts of distributing, possessing or viewing matter depicting sexually explicit conduct involving a child, according to court documents.

Sellars received 40 years for the sexual assault charges and 190 years for the child porn charges, totaling 230 years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections. He was credited for 487 days he had already served in jail, according to a sentencing order.

He obviously picked the wrong country to be a pervert in. Had he done that in the UK, he might have gotten 4 years for sex assault and his sentence for child porn would have been suspended.

In addition to Sellars’ sentencing, he was ordered to have no contact with minors, register as a sex offender and enroll in a sexual offender treatment program.

According to an affidavit, the Benton County Sheriff’s Office issued a search warrant in June 2023 and noted that there were numerous images and videos that depicted children in various levels of nudity or engaging in sexual activities on devices in Sellars’s home.

Detectives spoke with Sellars at the scene and he advised that he possessed somewhere around 78 to 100 images or videos of child pornography on his devices.

An affidavit says that multiple video files were provided showing multiple children ranging from toddler age to nine years old involved in inappropriate sexual behavior.

Police said upon researching Sellars, a previous sexual assault case was discovered, with an initial report stating that he had inappropriately touched a child while changing their diaper.

The affidavit noted that Christian has shown a history of actively seeking out prepubescent children online and in the community.

The Benton County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that Sellars worked with children in Northwest Arkansas.

“During the course of the investigation, it was found that Sellars had worked at several daycares in the areas of Centerton, Bentonville, and Rogers from at least 2021 to present date,” the release said.

For more than 10 years I have been begging parents not to put their kids in daycares where men are present. I think it needs to be written in law that men should not be allowed to work in daycare centers. Men usually have ulterior motives for being around other people's little children.

Prosecutors say Wolfe, previously convicted in 1997, lured an 11-year-old girl to his apartment with money and video games. There, he sexually abused the child.

Gainesville Police officers learned the victim told Murray that Wolfe was inappropriately touching the child. Murray told detectives she knew Wolfe was a sex offender.

After learning of the alleged abuse, Murray sent the child back to Wolfe’s apartment and never reported the allegations to law enforcement.

The Department of Children and Families learned of the allegations while investigating a report that Murray had punched the victim.
