Wolves in the Henhouse > Foster dad gets 7 years for abusing Turpin Kids; Texas math teacher fired for CSA with student; VA grade 3 teacher charged with CSA; Texas Daycare worker gets 60 years for CSA; California parents sexually abused own kids

How could social services possibly allow this to happen. Those poor Turpin kids grew up in the madness of their parents' home, and then, once rescued, were put in a home where they would be abused. Astonishing incompetence!.

California foster dad sentenced to 7 years

for abuse of child torture victims

Marcelino Olguin was sentenced to seven years in prison on Friday for abusing foster children he had been assigned to care for in his home, including some who had been previously tortured by their parents, David and Louise Turpin.

A man from California was handed a seven-year prison sentence on Friday for the abuse of foster children under his care, some of whom had previously suffered torture at the hands of their parents. Marcelino Olguin, 65, was taken into custody by sheriff's deputies in a Riverside courtroom following a brief sentencing hearing.

Olguin had earlier admitted to lewd acts on a child, false imprisonment and injuring a child. His wife, Rosa, and adult daughter, Lennys, both pleaded guilty to child cruelty and were each given four years of formal probation.

"Today's sentencing marks a significant step in delivering justice to the victims who endured unimaginable abuse," said Riverside County District Attorney Mike Hestrin in a statement. "These children were placed in a position of vulnerability after surviving intense trauma, only to be further exploited by someone who was entrusted with their care."

The lawyers representing the Olguins stated that the plea deal allowed the women to avoid jail time.

"My client saved his family," said Paul Grech, Marcelino Olguin's attorney, after the hearing, though he declined to discuss the case further.

The Olguin family was given the responsibility of caring for the children after they were rescued from horrifically abusive conditions in their parents' home in the Southern California community of Perris. Their parents, David and Louise Turpin, pleaded guilty in 2019 to torture and years of abuse that included shackling some of their 13 children.

The Turpin parents, who starved their children and provided them with only minimal education, were sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 25 years. On Friday, a statement prepared by one of the Turpin children who had stayed in the Olguins' home was read out in court by a victim's advocate.

"All I wanted was to finally have a loving family and to recover from my trauma, but unfortunately I did not receive that," the statement said. The unnamed victim is still recovering and learning to trust, but forgives the family in an act of faith, according to the statement.

A report found that the social service system failed the Turpin children, who ranged in age from 2 to 29 when they were rescued by authorities from their parents' home after their 17 year old sister escaped and called 911. Eventually six of the children were placed with the Olguins.

Social services need to be held to account for allowing this to happen. I can hardly imagine a more incompetent way of dealing with those children.

Please pray for these kids.

SISD terminates math teacher who’s facing

child sex abuse charges

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) The Socorro Independent School District voted to terminate a Clarke Middle School math teacher on Thursday night, Oct. 17, after he was arrested twice on sexual abuse charges involving children last month, according to the school district’s agenda and court documents obtained by KTSM.

As we have previously reported, Llojan Almaraz, 28, was arrested by Socorro Independent School District (ISD) Police on Friday, Sept. 13, and charged with improper relationship between an educator and student, child grooming, indecency with a child, and sexual performance of a child. He posted bond the following day on Saturday, Sept. 14, according to El Paso County Jail records.

Almaraz was then arrested again the following week on Friday, Sept. 20, by Socorro ISD Police, and charged with two counts of online solicitation of a minor. He posted bond that same day.

Court documents say on Aug. 28, a Walter Clarke Middle School officer received a report of an improper relationship between an educator and a student.

The officer met with the middle school’s principal who informed the officer that Almaraz had been “improperly communicating with a female student from the campus.”

Almaraz, who was employed at Walter Clarke Middle School since Oct. 2021, was the victim’s teacher during the 2023-2024 school year, according to court documents.

According to court documents, a law enforcement official interviewed the victim’s mother who said that her daughter was communicating with Almaraz via telephone calls and text messages.

A forensic interview was conducted with the victim. The victim said that she started talking with Almaraz when she was 12-years-old through the “SportsYou” application, which is used to communicate school-based sports information between coaches, parents, and student-athletes in October 2023, according to court documents.

The victim said that she and Almaraz eventually exchanged telephone numbers and would communicate by telephone calls and text message conversations.

According to court documents, the victim said she and Almaraz met on two separate occasions during June.

The victim said the first time she and Almaraz met, they spent about half an hour in the back seat of his truck. She explained there was kissing and touching involved, but they did not have sex in any of the two separate occasions, according to court documents.

According to court documents, a “juvenile witness” was interviewed regarding the allegations made against Almaraz. The witness said Almaraz would buy the victim gifts and food throughout the school year.

A law enforcement official also discovered that Almaraz gave the victim funds through money transfer applications for Starbucks and other purchases, according to court documents.

According to court documents, the victim’s mother also said that Almaraz gave her daughter gifts such as a “lanyard, a Funko Pop action figure, Pandora bracelet charms and a gold necklace.”

The victim’s mother provided law enforcement with a screen-recorded text thread conversation between the victim and Almaraz. In some of those texts, Almaraz stated that he wanted to have sex with the victim, date her, and get her pregnant. The victim’s mother said that Almaraz also sent her daughter live images of himself exposing his genitals, according to court documents.

On Sept. 5, a law enforcement official spoke to a second juvenile witness who attended Clarke Middle School from 2021 to 2023. This witness said Almaraz was her seventh-grade math teacher.

According to court documents, the second witness said Almaraz began communicating with her through the SportsYou application. She also said Almaraz communicated with her during her eighth-grade year via a fake TikTok account.

The second witness said Almaraz gave her gifts and felt that she was being “groomed” by him. She said she then stopped communicating with Almaraz, according to court documents.

Man Abused Several Toddlers at Daycare

and Hid Recorded Abuse on his Phone;

Sentenced in Texas

A 25-year-old man has been sentenced to 60 years in prison after federal authorities revealed that he concealed images of himself committing sexual assaults against preschool-aged children within a (fake) calculator app on his phone, as announced on Friday.

Humberto Barreto Jr. faced indictment in January and entered a guilty plea in June regarding two counts related to the production of child pornography. He has been mandated to register as a sex offender.

Court documents reveal that the inquiry was initiated after Barreto Jr.’s former girlfriend informed law enforcement about finding internet searches related to child pornography on his mobile device. Upon confrontation, Barreto Jr. acknowledged his use of cryptocurrency to buy child sexual abuse images, stating that “age did not matter” to him.

Officials reported that a forensic investigation uncovered numerous images and a minimum of 30 recordings depicting the sexual exploitation of minors, including very young children. Authorities discovered a storage application camouflaged as a calculator, in which Barreto Jr. concealed videos of his sexual assaults on young girls aged 4 and 5, as stated in court documents.

The investigation was spearheaded by the Dallas Field Office of Homeland Security Investigations in collaboration with the Howard County Sheriff’s Office, with support from the Big Spring Police Department.

“This lengthy sentence is proof that this defendant’s deviant behavior of victimizing and sexually exploiting children will not stand, “said Travis Pickard, Special Agent in Charge of HSI Dallas.

Riverside Couple Admit Sexually Abusing

Their Two Kids

A Riverside couple who sexually abused their two children for years pleaded guilty Thursday to multiple felony charges.

Joshua Daniel Hawkins, 37, and Sabrina Lynn Hawkins, 33, admitted their crimes just as a preliminary hearing was set to get underway Thursday at the Riverside Hall of Justice. The pair reached separate plea agreements with the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office.

Joshua Hawkins pleaded guilty to four counts of lewd acts on a minor, two counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child, and one count each of sodomy of a minor, forced oral copulation of a child, forcible penetration of a person under duress or fear and child abuse, as well as a sentence-enhancing allegation of targeting multiple victims in a sex crime.

In exchange for his admissions, prosecutors agreed to drop more than a dozen related charges against the defendant.

His spouse admitted two counts each of oral copulation of a child and lewd acts on a minor, along with one count of sodomy of a minor. Prosecutors also agreed to drop just over a dozen charges against Sabrina Hawkins in exchange for her plea.

Superior Court Judge Emma Smith scheduled a sentencing hearing for Dec. 12 at the Riverside Hall of Justice. The proposed sentence under the plea bargain with Joshua Hawkins is 80 years to life in state prison, while the indicated sentence for Sabrina Hawkins is 40 years to life behind bars.

The defendants are both being held without bail at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning.

They were arrested following an extensive investigation by the Riverside Police Department’s Sexual Assault-Child Abuse Unit. Joshua Hawkins was taken into custody in November 2021, while his wife was booked into jail three months later.

According to Riverside police Officer Ryan Railsback, detectives received information in early November 2021 pointing to assaults on two children, identified in court documents only as “K.H.” and “J.H.,” in the Orangecrest area of the city.

Railsback said that detectives uncovered Joshua Hawkins had engaged in “ongoing sexual abuse of (his) teenage daughter.”

“During their investigation, detectives learned of additional sexual abuse taking place against the victim’s male sibling, by their stepmother (Sabrina Hawkins),” the police spokesman said.

Court documents indicated that the assaults began in 2014 and continued into the fall of 2021. The circumstances behind the abuse and how the activity was ultimately revealed to authorities were not disclosed.

“The (defendants) have been involved in community and school activities in and around the neighborhood where they lived,” Railsback said, suggesting investigators suspected other minors may have been targeted by the pair, but no evidence of that ever surfaced.

Neither defendant had documented prior felony convictions in Riverside County.
