Child sex abuse charges against Brisbane teacher now up to 81

Retired Brisbane teacher Stephen Kayser charged with

32 further child sex offences following August arrest

A former Brisbane school teacher has been charged with more than 30 offences against young people after he was charged with almost 50 historical child sex abuse offences earlier this year.

Police allege 69-year-old Stephen Patrick Andrew Kayser committed offences against a further 19 children aged between nine and 13 at two Brisbane educational facilities between 1987 and 1992.

He has been charged with a further 17 counts of indecent treatment of children under 16, four counts of taking a child under 16 for immoral purposes, and 11 counts of common assault.

Police said the new charges came as a result of alleged victims coming forward following his initial arrest.

His matter was mentioned at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.

Mr Kayser was granted bail with his case adjourned until November 11.

Earlier charges

Mr Kayser was charged in August with 49 offences against 19 boys and girls between the ages of nine and 10 years old while working as a teacher between 1988 and 1990.

Those offences allegedly occurred at Belmont State School in Carindale and at the Sleeman Sports Complex in Chandler, both in Brisbane's south-east.

An investigation was launched into Mr Kayser following a formal complaint in June this year.

Following an appearance at the Brisbane Magistrates Court for those charges, Mr Kayser said he was "shocked" when police arrived at his house to arrest him.

Detective Senior Sergeant Deanna Geck from Morningside Child Protection and Investigation Unit said the investigation was ongoing.

"We encourage anyone else who has any knowledge of this type of offending, is themselves a victim-survivor of sexual violence or has information to provide in relation to this investigation to come forward," she said.
