Ex-BBC broadcaster Stuart Hall has been charged with 15 rapes and one count of indecent assault involving two girls.
The charges relate to girls aged between 11 and 16 and allegedly happened between 1976 and 1981.
The abuse was allegedly committed in Manchester, Stockport, Wilmslow and Sale.
Hall, 83, is currently in jail serving 30 months for sexual offences. The former presenter is due at Preston Magistrates' Court on 8 November.
Nazir Afzal, of the Crown Prosecution Service, said: "Following a careful review, we have decided that there is sufficient evidence to prosecute Stuart Hall for 16 alleged sexual offences against two girls and that it is in the public interest to do so."
In June, 2013, Hall was sentenced to 15 months in jail after he admitted 14 offences that occurred between 1967 and 1985. One of the girls was nine years old when Hall assaulted her, Preston Crown Court heard.
In July, the Crown appealed the sentence to the Court of Appeals and the sentence was doubled. The charges mentioned at the top of the post are new.
Stuart Hall is the second BBC celebrity to be accused of rampant child sex abuse, although he is not as iconic as Jimmy Saville. He was stripped of his OBE - Order of the British Empire, by the queen.
It is good for these victims to get their stories out so they can deal with them and move on. Please pray for their emotional and spiritual healing.
