Wondering what happened in the Meriam Yahya Ibrahim case in Sudan? You may recall that she is the woman who was sentenced to death because she is a Christian.
After an international outcry, the sentence was tossed out and just as she was about to leave Sudan for the United States, she was arrested again because her paperwork was not in order, according to authorities.
They released her on bail, and she and her family were taken in by the U.S. embassy. Then her father filed a lawsuit to establish her as his Muslim daughter. Apparently, the Muslim family he heads feels she belongs to them . . . Sigh . . . More than likely, they feel her businesses belong to them.
Anyway, Reuters is reporting today that the father’s lawsuit has been dropped: “A lawsuit brought by a Sudanese Muslim father against a Christian woman to formally establish her as his Muslim daughter was dropped on Wednesday, the lawyer handling the case said, a move that could allow her to depart for the United States.”
Hopefully, Sudan will drop its passport charges against her soon, and allow her to move to the United States.
This is a major obstacle blocking Meriam and families departure from Sudan. Please keep praying for Sudan to drop charges concerning her passport so they can finally leave.
Lord, let it be so, and let it be soon!
