COVINGTON, Kentucky -- A man who admitted to sexually assaulting a child after the girl wrote a note addressed to Jesus had a change of heart.
Monday, July 13, Eric Rivera told a judge he wanted to withdraw the guilty plea he entered in May 2015. The investigation began in October 2013 when the girl's note detailing abuse was found in a bible at a Covington Elementary School.
Later in July 2015, a hearing will determine if Rivera will be allowed to change his plea.

When a sexually abused little girl poured her heart out in a letter to Jesus, she couldn’t have foreseen just how powerful her words would become.
Feeling vulnerable and afraid, the little girl tucked her message inside of a Bible, in hopes that someone out there would answer her prayer. The young victim, who so desperately needed a miracle, was saved from her life of abuse when her message was found.
The New York Daily News has more on how the girl’s note was discovered and what happened as a result:
A little 8-year-old Kentucky girl was unwittingly able to send her abuser away for decades after a school employee found a note, addressed to “Jesus,” the girl had written and tucked away into a Bible.
The letter, discovered in October 2013, detailed disturbing descriptions of sexual abuse at the hands of Eric Rivera over a period of at least two years, prosecutors said.
Covington police were able to interview the girl, who recounted sickening sex abuse dating back to when she was 6. She said the 36-year-old Rivera would also show her porn magazines and dirty images on his cell phone, prosecutors said.
Turning to Jesus and the Bible is always a good idea. Thank You Lord for answering this little girl's call for help.
