TLC has scheduled its documentary about child sex abuse that was prompted by child molestation allegations against Josh Duggar. The film Breaking The Silence will air at 10 PM on August 30.
The one-hour commercial-free documentary aims to shine a light on the challenges faced by those affected by child sexual abuse, as well as raise awareness of where people can turn for help, the network told The Associated Press, which first reported the news. TLC announced the documentary was in the works last month after it axed its reality hit 19 Kids And Counting, which followed the ever-expanding family of Arkansas couple Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar, amid child molestation charges against now-grown son Josh.
At that time, TLC said it had teamed with two child-protection organizations for an ongoing campaign to raise awareness about child sexual abuse. The documentary was to kick off the multi-platform initiative, and include the participation of Jill and Jessa Duggar, two of Josh’s victims, as well as other survivors and families affected by abuse.
The documentary will also feature Erin Merryn (Erin's Law). See below..
So they're trying to make up for financing, promoting, and defending this cult family and it's sexual...
“The goal is to take what has been a difficult and painful experience, and focus that attention on the really critical issue of child protection and child sexual abuse,” TLC honcho Marjorie Kaplan said at that time, adding that several filmmakers are under consideration for the planned documentary. (Three weeks later, Kaplan, a 20-year company veteran who also oversaw Animal Planet and Velocity, was named president of content for Discovery’s overseas networks, which is a London-based gig).
Last month, TLC tried to quietly announce it was dumping its hit reality series, giving the news to the Associated Press on Emmy nominations morning. But the cable network apparently forgot Emmy noms were delayed three hours this year. TLC’s announcement, bright and early that morning, filled the void nicely and got a lot of press coverage.

11 years ago I couldn't get my local paper to run a story on me breaking the silence of sexual abuse. I've come a long way with since then.
Now I have a major network TLC airing a PSA starting Sunday night on their network. Check out video here. It will air on TLC airing through the month until my appearance on TLC airs August 30th in their 1 hour commercial free documentary.
This is going to bring so much national awareness to Erin's Law. I can't thank TLC enough for not sweeping this issue under the rug after what happened with the Duggars. They used it as an opportunity to shed light on this silent epidemic and bring awareness. So many other networks would do the complete opposite.
