Detroit Woman Charged in Child Sex Abuse Case

A 38-year-old Dearborn Heights woman was arraigned Tuesday on multiple charges after she allegedly agreed to engage in sex with someone she believed was a father and his underage daughter.

Kristina Lynn Howarth is charged with two counts of child sexually abusive activity and one count of using a computer to communicate with another to commit a crime, according to the Macomb County Sheriff’s Office. Each charge is a 20-year felony.

According to the sheriff’s office, a detective from the Macomb Area Computer Enforcement on March 21 chatted with a woman online. She subsequently called the detective.

Over several days “the woman expressed a willingness to have sex with who she thought was a father and (underage) daughter,” the sheriff’s office said in a statement Tuesday.

Howarth was arrested Monday when she showed up for a prearranged meeting, officials said. She appeared via video arraignment Tuesday afternoon in 41B District Court in Clinton Township.

Bond was set at $75,000. Howarth is due back in court April 11.
