Pope Francis expels Chilean priest and hero
accused of child sexual abuse
By Daniel Uria

UPI -- Pope Francis expelled a Chilean priest who is under investigation for sexually abusing children, the he Archdiocese of Santiago said Sunday.

Cardinal Luis Ladaria notified the Chilean Church that Francis decreed the removal of Father Cristián Precht Bañados "with no possibility of appeal" on Sept. 12, the Archdiocese announced.

He had already been suspended from ministry from 2012-2017 after he was found guilty of sexually abusing minors and vulnerable adults.

Cardinal Ricardo Ezzati chose to suspend Precht for five years instead of issuing a life sentence when the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith found him guilty of abuse in 2012.

The priest was one of two of the closest collaborators of Cardinal Raúl Silva Henríquez, head of the Archdiocese of Santiago from 1961 to 1983. The other, Father Miguel Ortega, has also been found guilty of abuse.

When he returned to the ministry, Precht and Father Miguel Ortega faced new accusations from victims who said they sexually abused children while visiting Marist Brothers facilities, including making sexual advances toward teenagers who came to them for confession.

Precht was then banned from leaving the diocese until the new investigation ended, a ruling he unsuccessfully appealed.

He previously denied the charges, as Chilean police raid church offices in search of evidence church officials committed and concealed instances of sexual abuse.

Precht was the former head of the Church's Vicariate of Solidarity human rights group and also served as regional vicar, head of youth ministry, and executive secretary of the commission for the canonization of Chilean St. Alberto Hurtado.

Precht rose to fame in Chile for his defense of human rights during the government of dictator Augusto Pinochet.

‘Hell on Earth’: MSF doctor tells of rape, violence, inhumane conditions in Lesbos refugee camp

One toilet for over 70 people, rape, and mental health issues – a doctor from Doctors Without Borders (MSF) and an aid worker told RT about the dire conditions in the overcrowded Moria refugee camp in Greece.

The overcrowded camp on the island of Lesbos, built to accommodate 3,100, houses around 9,000 people. "It's a kind of hell on Earth in Europe," Dr. Alessandro Barberio, an MSF clinical psychiatrist, said, adding that people in the camp suffer from lack of water and medical care. "It is impossible to stay there," he said.

According to Barberio, asylum seekers are subjected to violence "during night and day.""There is also sexual violence" which leads to "mental health issues," he said, adding that all categories of people at the camp may be subjected to it. "There is rape against men, women and children," and the victims of sexual violence in the camp often have nightmares and hallucinations, Barberio told RT.

Asylum seekers in Moria "are in constant fear of violence," and these fears are not groundless, the psychiatrist said. "Such cases [of violence] take place every week."

There is "one toilet for 72 people, one shower for 84 people. The sanitation is bad. People are suffering from bad conditions," Michael Raeber, an aid worker at the camp, told RT. They suffer from mental health problems because they are kept for a long time in the camp, according to Raeber.

"There is no perspective, they don't know how their case will go on, when they will ever be able to leave the island." The camp is a "place where there is no rule of law," with rampant violence and drug addiction among the inhabitants, Raeber said.

In its latest report, MSF, which has been working near Moria since late 2017, criticized the unprecedented health crisis in the camp – one of the biggest in Greece. About a third of the camp population consists of children, and many of them have harmed themselves, and have thought about or attempted suicide, according to the group.

Barberio was behind an MSF open letter on the state of emergency in Moria, released on Monday, in which he writes that he has never "witnessed such overwhelming numbers of people suffering from serious mental health conditions."

Calling the camp an "island prison," he insisted that many of his patients in the camp are unable to perform basic everyday functions, "such as sleeping, eating well, maintaining personal hygiene, and communicating."

A number of human rights groups have strongly criticized the conditions at the camp and Greece's "containment policy" regarding asylum seekers.

Christina Kalogirou, the regional governor of the North Aegean, which includes Lesbos, has repeatedly threatened to shut down the facility unless the government improves the conditions. On Tuesday, government spokesman Dimitris Tzanakopoulos said that Greece will move 2,000 asylum seekers out of the severely overcrowded camp and send them to the mainland by the end of September.

Greece, like other EU states, is experiencing the worst refugee crisis since WWII. According to International Organization for Migration estimates, 22,000 asylum seekers have arrived in Greece since the start of this year alone.

NZ college to review handling of a
child sex complaint

Christchurch's St Bede's College will appoint an independent reviewer to look into its handling of a child sex abuse complaint in 2011.

This follows Christchurch man Peter Boock demanding the school's rector Justin Boyle be sacked.

Mr Boyle allowed a teacher, Robin Pettit, to continue teaching until he retired, even after he admitted to abusing Mr Boock several decades ago.

The school's board said its inquiry would run alongside one the Education Council was running into the matter. It would not make any more comment, adding that media coverage had been unhelpful because of a lack of due process and respect for privacy.

Earlier, Mr Boyle wrote to the school's parents, defending the investigation in 2011. "Mr Pettit has had a long and distinguished teaching career and there have been no complaints about his conduct during his time at St Bede's College, or at other schools he has worked," he wrote.

"I want to assure you that our priority is always to provide a safe environment for our students and staff. As we have in the past, we will always ensure that any complaint of misconduct is thoroughly and promptly investigated and appropriately addressed, while respecting people's right to privacy and proper process."

But the rector's letter was "appalling", the Network of Survivors of Abuse in Faith-based Institutions and Their Supporters said in a statement.

"Nowhere in this message does the school condemn Mr Pettit or his actions," the network's Murray Heasley said.

"On the contrary it praises him and, in failing to acknowledge the lifelong trauma and damage he has caused, encourages parents to think of him as the victim."

Good grief! I agree with Boock, Boyle should be dismissed immediately.

Top Ukip figure branded shameful over ‘holocaust of our children’ Muslim jibe

Even though he is right!
UK News

Spokesman Alan Craig told the party’s conference the practice of targeting young girls by sex gangs could be traced right back ‘to Mohammed himself’.

A senior Ukip figure has been branded “shameful” after claiming a “holocaust of our children” was being orchestrated by Muslim sex gangs in English towns and cities.

Alan Craig, the party’s children and families spokesman, said the practice of preying on mainly “white English girls” could be traced right back “to Mohammed himself”, in a speech at the party’s annual conference in Birmingham.

He described the issue as “the biggest social crime and scandal in our country for 200 years”, accusing authorities of turning a blind eye to what became high-profile cases in Rotherham, Telford and Oxford.

However the anti-extremism think tank Quilliam, which produced a report quoted by Mr Craig, criticised his speech for misquoting it and using “alarmist and unnecessary language”.

What has happened over the last decade is nothing less
- and I use this word advisedly - a holocaust
Alan Craig

Director of policy David Toube said: “Alan Craig’s misuse of Holocaust imagery to describe the grooming gangs case is shameful.

“The Holocaust constituted the industrialised murder, by the Nazi state, of over a million Jewish children. The grooming gangs cases involved a failure to prevent and, initially, to prosecute criminals who raped scores of vulnerable girls.

“Quilliam has spoken out loudly against the scandalous failure to address these crimes. But to compare these evil acts to the Holocaust is disgraceful.”

Mr Craig is a Christian campaigner and former leader of the Christian Peoples Alliance. His selection as a Ukip candidate at the 2015 general election caused controversy over alleged homophobia following his comments about “gay rights stormtroopers”.

Speaking in Birmingham on Friday, he added that the majority of – but not all – the victims of grooming gangs had been white girls.

In a speech greeted by a standing ovation from delegates, Mr Craig said the problem was “an issue literally made in hell”.

He initially said he would not talk about the perpetrators, something that was greeted by a shout of “shame” from inside the hall. He said: “I’m talking about the decades of abuse, grooming, assaulting, raping, drugging of underage girls up and down the country.

“I’m talking about something that has happened outside schools, outside children’s homes, in shopping malls, quite openly in public up and down the country in towns and cities.

“What has happened over the last decade is nothing less – and I use this word advisedly – a holocaust.

“It has been a holocaust of our children, of our daughters.”

He went on to accuse politicians of “refusing to name the issue” and hiding behind phrases for attackers like “men” and “Asian men, as if the Chinese and Japanese were involved in doing this sort of thing”.

He went on to describe a Quilliam report, saying: “They said quite clearly that overwhelmingly the perpetrators are from Pakistani and Muslim backgrounds.

“And they traced a major part of the influence back to the Islamic faith and to Mohammed himself.”

Islamic Scholar: Muslims Can Rape 'Legitimately-Owned Slaves'

“The believers must (eventually) win through, those who humble themselves in their prayers; who avoid vain talk; who are active in deeds of charity; who abstain from sex, except with those joined to them in the marriage bond, or (the captives) whom their right hands possess, for (in their case) they are free from blame.” (Qur’an 23:1-6)

According to Islamic law, Muslim men can take “captives of the right hand” (Qur’an 4:3, 4:24, 33:50). The Qur’an says: “O Prophet! Lo! We have made lawful unto thee thy wives unto whom thou hast paid their dowries, and those whom thy right hand possesseth of those whom Allah hath given thee as spoils of war” (33:50). 4:3 and 4:24 extend this privilege to Muslim men in general.

Abu Sirma said to Abu Sa’id al Khadri (Allah he pleased with him): 0 Abu Sa’id, did you hear Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) mentioning al-’azl? He said: Yes, and added: We went out with Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) on the expedition to the Bi’l-Mustaliq and took captive some excellent Arab women; and we desired them, for we were suffering from the absence of our wives, (but at the same time) we also desired ransom for them. So we decided to have sexual intercourse with them but by observing ‘azl (Withdrawing the male sexual organ before emission of semen to avoid conception). But we said: We are doing an act whereas Allah’s Messenger is amongst us; why not ask him? So we asked Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him), and he said: It does not matter if you do not do it, for every soul that is to be born up to the Day of Resurrection will be born. (Muslim 3371)

It is my contention that the phrase 'whom thy right hand possesseth' is taken literally by many Muslim men, particularly Pakistani men as any woman or child over which they have control. 'Over which they have control' can mean anyone who gets into their car, or accompanies them to a motel room, or takes drugs or alcohol from them, etc., etc.

To Muslim men non-Muslim girls are kafir, non-believers, good for only one thing - slavery, and or sexual slavery. There is no age limitations for sex slaves in Islam as long as you don't smother or crush her, she is fair game. This is all in the Quran - spoken by Mohammed himself.

Al Azhar University Professor Saleh and others will insist that the mass rape and sexual abuse of European women by Muslim men in Cologne and elsewhere does not fit the literal definition of "right hand possessions." But other interrelated Islamic doctrines command Muslim men to hate all non-Muslims and to see women—especially infidel women—as little more than sex objects (or, in the words of a Muslim who recently murdered a Christian girl in Pakistan for refusing him sex, "Christian girls are only meant for one thing: the [sexual] pleasure of Muslim men."

But the think tank said the report which he referred to said acceptance of child marriage among some Sunni Muslims “stems from the selective reading of hadith literature” which is disputed by other followers of the faith “as it is in conflict with several other historical accounts suggesting that this report is inaccurate”.

Child marriage, while a very serious problem, is not this issue here. It is sexual slavery of children at the hands of Muslim men that is the problem.

A spokesman added: “While we discuss that the scale and severity of this crime is significant and needs to be dealt with swiftly, in the report, we caution against exaggerating the issue.”

Of course, the real danger here is the lack of intensity this issue should have created. There is a tendency to exaggerate and speak in hyperbolic phrases, because of the great reluctance of the government, the police, the media, and just about everyone else to address this problem as a Muslim problem. You can ignore the elephant in the room for only so long before the truth begins to become obvious from the odour.

Maajid Nawaz: We're In Denial That Child Sex Abuse Is A 'Sickness' In British Pakistani Muslims

He pointed out that a child sexual exploitation study in 2011 had found that 0.01% of the UK’s Asian population (and 0.03% of the UK’s ethnically Pakistani population) were child sex offenders.

A 2011 study precedes nearly all of the convictions of Pakistani men from Rotherham, Rochdale, Telford, Oxford, Newcastle, etc., etc. Indeed, if we took the sample today and included all those who are charged, and not just those convicted, and also included those under suspicion who are not yet charged, the numbers would be exponentially higher, and they would still not fully represent the enormity of this atrocity.

The longer we deny the existence of the elephant in the room - the bigger the mess we will have to clean up.

He added: “Thus, to say that the Asian population living in the UK has a CSE (child sexual exploitation) problem, or even that the British Pakistani community has a CSE problem is wholly inaccurate and a misrepresentation of the facts.”

To say that no such problem exists is a spectacular misrepresentation of the facts. Political correctness is getting little, British girls gang-raped and so many people are still worried about offending the rapists.

I refer you once again to Maajid Nawaz, a UK radio talk-show host of Pakistani origin.

Kik chat app 'involved in 1,100 child abuse cases'
By Angus Crawford
BBC News

One teen chat app has featured in more than 1,100 child sexual abuse cases in the last five years, the BBC has found.

Of 29 police forces that supplied information to the BBC, all but one had child exploitation cases involving Kik.

Police say they are frustrated with Kik's response, with one detective saying getting information out of the firm was a "bureaucratic nightmare".

Kik said it was "constantly assessing and improving its trust and safety measures".

A BBC Freedom of Information request sent to all 47 police forces in the UK revealed there had been 1,147 investigations by 28 forces into offences of child sexual exploitation, grooming and image offences involving the app. Eighteen forces failed to supply any information.

Founded in 2009, Canada-based Kik claims 300 million users worldwide access its free instant messaging service. It is popular with teenagers, has many anonymous accounts and is easy to sign up for using false details.

'A brick wall'

Constable Jason Cullum from Northamptonshire Police's paedophile online investigation team told the BBC delays due to the "bureaucratic nightmare" of obtaining information from the company put children at further risk.

He is investigating a complex grooming case involving more than 90 profiles - some suspected offenders, others child victims - but he needs information from Kik to identify and trace them.

Police officers contacting Kik are given an automated response and directed via a complex legal process - under the Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) - to gain a court order.

"It's incredibly frustrating. We're banging our heads against a brick wall," said PC Cullum. "There's a child that's going to be abused for probably another 12 months before we know who that is."

Canada and the US have strict rules on releasing personal information to law enforcement agencies to protect individuals' privacy.

Because, after all, the privacy of paedophiles is far more important than the health and safety of children!!!

Kik says it will release some information if there is an "imminent threat of death or serious physical injury to any person". In these cases, the app will release "limited basic subscriber data".

Home Secretary Sajid Javid has threatened to take action against tech companies if they do not help to tackle online child abuse. "The threat has evolved a lot more quickly than the industry's response and industry has just not kept up," he said. "So let me say this - I'm not just asking for change, I am demanding it."

'Behind closed doors'

Taylor was a lonely and vulnerable 13-year-old when the abuse began on Kik. "It started with a lot of selfies... but it would escalate to underwear photos... naked photos, then videos."

Taylor told the BBC that more than 100 men, possibly 200, made contact through the app. Taylor criticised Kik for not doing more to protect vulnerable users.

"It's all going on behind closed doors, they can see it but they're not doing anything about it. That's what upsets me."

In a statement, Kik told the BBC: "We take online safety very seriously, and we're constantly assessing and improving our trust and safety measures." It said it will continue to "provide resources to parents and strengthen relationships with law enforcement and safety-focused organisations".

Nice words, but as long as your priority is protecting paedophiles rather than children, they are empty words and you are morally bankrupt!

But PC Cullum said he was not reassured and that abused children remained at risk. He said: "In this day and age I should be able to identify everyone, but I can't."

Male nanny charged with sex abuse of 3 B.C. children

Police in Saanich say there may be more alleged victims
CBC News

Saanich police are worried there may be more alleged victims after a local nanny was charged with sex offences against three children, including two brothers in his care.

Johnathon Lee Robichaud, 30, of Central Saanich has been charged with one count of sexual interference, two counts of invitation to sexual touching and one count of making sexually explicit material available to a child.

The investigation began when a mother reported that her sons, who are both under the age of 10, may have been abused by the family nanny, according to a police statement. Police later identified a third alleged victim.

"As we're unable to verify all the places where Mr. Robichaud volunteered or worked with children, we're asking the public to contact us" Sgt. Jereme Leslie said in a news release.

"We all have a responsibility to protect children and we need the public's help in assisting us."

Indeed! We all have a responsibility to protect children! One way we can do that is to:

Never hire men to look after your children!
Men who want to look after other people's children
have something wrong with them!

Robichaud has lived in the Victoria region for a "significant period of time," police say and has worked or volunteered with youth groups, church groups, child-care facilities and before-and-after-school programs. He's also advertised his nanny services online.

Robichaud is currently bound by conditions that bar him from contact with any children under the age of 16 and from visiting recreation centres, daycares, schools, churches, parks or any other place frequented by children.

Investigators say they're unable to provide any specifics about the charges against Robichaud, but they're asking anyone whose child has been alone with him to call police at 1-250-475-4756.

Child sexual abuse and murder case: Madras High Court chides cops, prosecution for shady probe

The six-year-old daughter of one of the tenants of Kaattu Raja was raped and murdered on February 6, 2008, night.
By Siva Sekaran Express News Service

CHENNAI: A division bench of the Madras High Court has chided the police and prosecution for shady probe and presentation of a child sexual abuse and murder case, and the trial court (Mahila Court) for convicting an innocent man.

The way in which the investigation report had been filed itself is an indication of the fixed mind of the prosecution to target only the present appellant as the accused. The investigating police officers have not chosen to examine any witness afresh when further investigation was ordered, a bench of Justices S Vimala and S Ramathilagam observed on September 12.

“The case in hand is a true replica of the Tamil feature film “Vazhaku Enn 18/9”. Though, the 21 witnesses and 18 documents, apart from the material objects, clearly established that one Kaattu Raja as the accused and not the appellant herein, the trial court had erroneously convicted the appellant, the bench bemoaned.

For a child, at times, the insecurity springs out of the conduct of those around her. “But here is a case where the voice of the screaming child is silenced by fabrication of false documents, choosing the accused, making the accused as a witness and the witness as the accused,” the bench said.

“The judicial propriety requires a quality to read in between the lines what the prosecution relies, claims and to find some hidden agenda sneaked into the scheme by the prosecution,” the judges said.

“It is clear that the conviction of Iyappan is not based on legal evidence and the findings are perverse and the conviction and sentence are liable to be set-aside.

“In the result, this criminal appeal is allowed and the conviction and sentence imposed on him by the Sessions Judge, Mahila Court here on May 8 last are hereby set-aside, the bench said and ordered his immediate release. The bench also remitted the matter back to Mahila Court to hold the trial afresh against one Kaattu Raja, the real accused, in all probabilities.

The six-year-old daughter of one of the tenants of Kaattu Raja here was raped and murdered on February 6, 2008, night.

The police projected Iyappan, a witness in the case, as the accused and based on presentation of the prosecution, the Mahila Court awarded life sentence to him in May this year. Aggrieved, he preferred the present appeal, which was allowed by the High Court.
