Child Abuse? > Father of 550 kids restricted on internet contact in NL; France's Worst Ever admits to abusing his granddaughter

Court bans ‘mass sperm donor’ Jonathan Meijer from addressing children on YouTube

A Dutch court has ruled that Jonathan Meijer, the man who fathered at least 550 children through sperm donation, can no longer address his donor children in YouTube videos. The decision follows a lawsuit filed by parents and Stichting Donorkind, who accused him of using his platform to influence children with controversial views.

Meijer must remove all existing videos in which he speaks directly to the children or criticizes their parents. The court also prohibited him from making public statements on the matter in any form other than video. If he fails to comply, he faces a fine of 10,000 euros per day, up to a maximum of 100,000 euros.

The ruling comes after parents accused Meijer of using YouTube to promote harmful ideas, including incest and extreme traditional gender roles. “He regularly addresses the children, giving them unsolicited advice on life and telling them how they should view their parents,” said Ties van der Meer, director of Stichting Donorkind.

Meijer has made videos with titles such as Blessed are the Trad Wives and Trad Man Power, advocating for a strict traditional division of gender roles. He has suggested that modern parents are weak for struggling to raise two children, pointing to historical families with up to 15 children as examples of resilience.

One of the parents involved in the lawsuit described his content as “bizarre.” Meijer reportedly advised children to eat pig brains and shared unconventional opinions about hygiene and relationships.

According to mother Natalie Dijkdrenth, Meijer encouraged children to choose partners who look like them and share their beliefs. He also criticized modern parenting styles and glorified large families. “Some children are very impressionable because of their age. As parents, we can do our best, but as a donor, he still has a certain appeal to them,” Dijkdrenth said.

The court had previously urged Meijer and the parents to negotiate guidelines for his YouTube content, but no agreement was reached, leading to the judge’s decision.

This is not the first time Meijer has faced legal action. In 2023, a court banned him from donating sperm to new parents after determining he had fathered at least 550 children. He is only allowed to donate to parents who already have a child from his sperm and want another. However, in September, Meijer claimed he was still donating to families who requested it, openly defying the court order.

Meijer was also the subject of the Netflix documentary The Man with 1000 Kidswhich suggested he may have fathered as many as 3,000 children. He disputes that figure, maintaining the number is 550.

Former surgeon admits to victimising granddaughter during France's biggest child abuse trial

France

French former surgeon Joël Le Scouarnec on Friday admitted to sexually abusing the 12-year-old daughter of his eldest son in the latest shocking revelation to emerge from France's biggest child abuse trial, which is currently under way in the western city of Vannes. Le Scouarnec is facing charges of allegedly raping or sexually abusing 299 children.

French former surgeon confessed on Friday to sexually abusing his granddaughter, while a policewoman broke down in tears as she recounted the discovery of child abuse images on Joel Le Scouarnec's computers.

Retired surgeon Le Scouarnec, 74, has been on trial in the western city of Vannes since Monday in one of the country's largest child sex-abuse cases.

Most of Le Scouarnec's victims were children whom he is believed to have abused while they were waking up from anaesthetic or during post-op checkups, at a dozen hospitals between 1989 and 2014.

Speaking in court on Friday, he confessed to also sexually abusing the 12-year-old daughter of his eldest son, who was present in court.

"I acknowledge acts of sexual abuse against my granddaughter," Le Scouarnec said.

AFP is not releasing the names of Le Scouarnec's children and grandchildren to protect their privacy.

The former surgeon is already in jail, having been found guilty in 2020 of abusing four children, including two of his nieces.

Le Scouarnec meticulously documented his crimes, noting his victims' names, ages and addresses and the nature of the abuse.

In his notes, the doctor describes himself as a "major pervert" and a "paedophile".

Joining Friday's hearing by video link, a police investigator broke down in tears as she told the court about the discovery of some 300,000 child pornography images found on the doctor's computers in 2017.

Her testimony was interrupted due to technical problems.

The surgeon's eldest son, 44, recalled a happy childhood, saying his father was busy with his medical practice but adding they had a "strong bond".

But echoing his younger brothers, who spoke in court earlier this week, he said they had grown up in a family where many things had not been discussed.

"We were kept in the dark about a lot of things," he said.

He said that he had learned only "a few months" before his father's arrest in 2017 that a search conducted at the surgeon's home in 2004 concerned child pornography that he had downloaded.

His mother Marie-France, who divorced Le Scouarnec only in 2023, had never told him about it, he said.

He said he has had no contact with his mother since 2017, when he learned of his father's crimes.

In May 2017, he visited his father in prison.

"He told me it was serious and that it had to happen one day," he said.

He then learned from his cousins that his father had abused them when they were children. He sank into depression and started drinking in an effort to numb the pain, he said, adding however he has now overcome his addiction, unlike one of his brothers.

His 42-year-old brother told the court this week that he had been raped and sexually abused by his grandfather, Le Scouarnec's father, from the age of five to 10 years old.
