Perverted Lives of the Rich and Famous > Ex-Governor Cuomo sued again; Jussie Smollett back in jail

Former N.Y. Gov. Andrew Cuomo faces civil sex abuse suit from ex-aide

Nov. 25 (UPI) -- An aide for former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo who accused him of groping her in 2020 filed a civil lawsuit under the state's Adult Survivors Act for "continuous sexual harassment," multiple news organizations reported.

Brittany Commisso filed court papers earlier this week to initiate a lawsuit and a formal complaint that Cuomo made unwanted advances and retaliated when she rebuffed.

Commisso was one of women whose claims of harassment were substantiated by a state attorney general's report. The legal action was filed days before the state's year-long Adult Survivors Act was set to expire on Friday. The act allowed people to sue for sexual assault or harassment beyond the statute of limitations.

Cuomo's attorney Rita Glavin said: "Ms. Commisso's claims are provably false, which is why the Albany district attorney dismissed the case two years ago after a thorough investigation."

"Ms. Commisso's transparent attempt at a cash grab will fail," Glavin said. "We look forward to seeing her in court."

Cuomo resigned in 2021 following Commisso's allegations she was demoted "from the position of Executive Assistant to the Governor, removed her from the Executive Chamber front office, and assigned her to the demeaning task of answering telephones in the Lieutenant Governor's office until moved to other offices, including loss of overtime, ostracism, given little or no work, demotion, and loss of career opportunities and advancement."

In the most recent court filing, she said the sexual harassment included "unwelcome sexual advances, sexualized comments about appearance and personal matters, relations, their dating, their sex life, and her marriage, assignment of humiliating and demeaning tasks, hugs, kisses, sexual touching of the buttocks, and forcible touching of the breast."

Jussie Smollett headed back to jail after conviction

upheld by appeals court in hate crime hoax

Disgraced actor Jussie Smollett may be going back to jail soon as an appeals court upheld his convictions related to a 2019 hate crime hoax on Friday.

The “Empire” star, 41, was convicted in 2021 of five felony counts of disorderly conduct related to the alleged racist, homophobic attack and sentenced to 150 days behind bars.

He served just six days of the sentence while the appeal was pending.

Smollett challenged the role of the special prosecutors, the jury selection, evidence, and other aspects of the case against him – but the convictions were ultimately upheld in 2-1 opinion from the Illinois Appeal Court.

The California native – who made his big screen debut in 1992’s “The MIghty Ducks” – made headlines in 2019 when he reported to Chicago police that he was the victim of a homophobic and racist attack by two men wearing ski masks.

The search for the attackers quickly backpedaled into an investigation into Smollett, and resulted in his arrest on charges that he paid two man he knew from “Empire” to help him orchestrate the incident.

Lawyers for Smollett claimed that the was victim of a racist justice system and politicking.

Appellate Judge Freddrenna Lyle said Friday that she would have tossed Smollett’s conviction on the grounds that it was “fundamentally unfair” to appoint a special prosecutor and charge the actor when he already completed community services as part of a previous deal with Cook County prosecutors.

“It was common sense that Smollett was bargaining for a complete resolution of the matter, not simply a temporary one,” she opined.

Special prosecutor Dan Webb, however, told TMZ that the ruling was “a resounding and profound victory.”

“Having a dissenting voice in the ruling is not uncommon. The decision by the appeals court is final,” he insisted.

“What happens next is Mr. Smollett can file a petition for a higher appeal to The Illinois Supreme Court,” Webb continued.

“This is purely discretionary meaning the court does not have to hear this appeal. He lost all legal rights to an appeal with today’s decision. If the Supreme Court decides to hear his appeal, there will be briefs filed and a hearing date set. If not, then the case goes back to the trial court, which will execute his sentence.”

Smollett’s team vowed to keep fighting the court’s decision.

“We wish to highlight that the decision was divided, with Justice Lyle offering a detailed analysis in favor of Smollett,” a rep for the actor told TMZ.

“We are preparing to escalate this matter to the Supreme Court, armed with a substantial body of evidence.”

Comedian Tiffany Haddish spoke out Monday about allegations that she and fellow comedian Aries Spears groomed and molested two children on camera for sexually explicit skits. The accusations came to light after the two siblings filed a lawsuit last week against the actors claiming that they had been “traumatized for life” by the incidents.

Haddish took to Instagram to address the lawsuit for the first time.

“I know people have a bunch of questions. I get it. I’m right there with you. Unfortunately, because there is an ongoing legal case, there’s very little that I can say right now,” Haddish wrote in the post.

Among other things, Haddish is accused in the lawsuit of coercing a then 14-year-old girl to mimic fellatio in a filmed sketch. Haddish acknowledged that she participated in the sexually explicit skit in her Instagram post.

“But, clearly, while the sketch was intended to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all — and I deeply regret having agreed to act in it,” she wrote. “I really look forward to being able to share a lot more about this situation as soon as I can.”

Haddish and Spears’ alleged victims were identified only as Jane Doe, now 22, and John Doe, now 14, in a lawsuit filed in Los Angeles Superior Court.

Jane, as John’s legal guardian, filed the lawsuit against the comedians both individually and on behalf of her younger brother for incidents alleged to have occurred in 2013 and 2014. The claims have yet to be tested in court.

Haddish and Spears “stole the youth of a 7-year-old child and a 14-year-old child,” the lawsuit reads.

According to the lawsuit, Haddish and Spears met the children because their mother was friends with Haddish through the comedy circuit. The siblings claim they used to call Haddish “Auntie Tiff,” and she called them “niece” and “nephew.”

In 2013, Haddish allegedly asked Jane, then 14, to act in a skit with her after the comedian appeared as a guest speaker at the comedy summer camp that Jane was attending. Haddish told Jane she had the “perfect role” for her, the lawsuit reads.

“Only Spears and Haddish knew the storyline for the skit,” the lawsuit alleges. Jane claims that the shoot ended with her mimicking fellatio at Haddish’s instruction.

“Haddish verbally explained what was expected of plaintiff Jane Doe and then showed Plaintiff Jane Doe how to give fellatio, including movements, noises, moaning, and groaning,” it said.

“Physically, emotionally, and mentally uncomfortable, plaintiff Jane Doe mimicked the acts that Haddish and Spears wanted her to do so she could go home,” the lawsuit continues.

The next year, Haddish allegedly offered a role to Jane’s younger brother, telling the siblings’ mother that it would be “a sizzle reel for Nickelodeon,” to help the boy get cast by the TV network, the suit says.

According to the suit, the skit was titled Through A Pedophile’s Eyes and involved a child, John, being left alone with a man, played by Spears, who “leers at the child lustfully.”

John, then seven, was allegedly stripped “down to his underwear” and Spears massaged oil on his body. Later in the shoot, the two supposedly got into a bathtub with Spears forcing the child “closer to him in the tub.”

In the final scene of the skit, John is “portrayed as leering lustfully” at Spears before rubbing oil on his body, the lawsuit claims. The video ends with text on the screen reading: “WATCH WHO YOU LEAVE YOUR KIDS WITH!”

“After filming, Mr. Doe called his mother crying, saying he did not want to film anymore,” the lawsuit said.

The plaintiffs’ mother claims she repeatedly asked Haddish and Spears about “what was filmed that made her son cry,” and Spears told her that he would get back to her about showing her footage. Days later, Spears told the plaintiffs’ mother that John had been uncooperative during the shoot and the footage was unusable and “deleted,” the lawsuit reads.

Four years later, in 2018, the plaintiffs’ mother learned that the allegedly deleted skit had been published online, including on the Funny or Die website.

“The mother, upset, stated that she would have never let her son participate in a pedophile, child pornography skit,” the lawsuit claimed.

“Funny Or Die found the video absolutely disgusting and would never produce such content,” a spokesperson for the website stated.

“We were not involved with the conceptualization, development, funding, or production of this video. It was uploaded to the site as user-generated content and removed in 2018 immediately after becoming aware of its existence.”

The lawsuit says that both Jane and John have developed social disorders as a result of the alleged abuse.

The lawsuit claims that Jane “is scared she will be taken advantage of again and led down a path of false trust like the path that Haddish led her down.” As for John, the lawsuit says he “stays in his room at home and places Band-Aids over the cameras on his electronics for fear of being watched or recorded.”

Lawyers for Haddish and Spears have individually dismissed the lawsuit, characterizing it as a shakedown. Andrew Brettler, Haddish’s lawyer, claimed that the plaintiffs’ mother has “been trying to assert these bogus claims against Ms. Haddish for several years.”

The lawyer called the claims “meritless” and said that Haddish had previously shown she “would not be shaken down.”

“Now, (the plaintiffs’ mother) has her adult daughter representing herself in this lawsuit. The two of them will together face the consequences of pursuing this frivolous action,” Brettler said.

In a separate statement, Spears’ lawyer Debra Opri said the comedian “isn’t going to fall for any shakedown.”

Jane and John are suing Haddish and Spears for unspecified damages.

They should be charged as pedophiles for what they did to those kids.

Mistrial declared in child sex assault case against former

All-Star pitcher John Wetteland

It was unclear if prosecutors will retry the case against the 56-year-old.

Wetteland faced 25 years to life in prison, if convicted.

By The Associated Press
Sun., Sept. 4, 2022

DENTON, Texas (AP) A Texas judge has declared a mistrial in the child sex assault case against former All-Star and World Series MVP pitcher John Wetteland after the jury deadlocked.

The Denton County jury told Judge Lee Ann Breading three times that it was split before she declared a mistrial Friday. Wetteland, who played for the Texas Rangers from 1997 to 2000 and also played for the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners, was being tried on three counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child.

It was unclear if prosecutors will retry the case against the 56-year-old. The Rangers’ Hall of Famer faced 25 years to life in prison, if convicted.

Authorities had accused Wetteland of sexually assaulting a child three times between 2004 and 2006, starting when the child was 4 years old. Wetteland, who pleaded not guilty, testified in his own defense and said the accuser’s account of sexual abuse was a lie.

The accuser, who is now 22, said the abuse happened in the master bathroom shower of Wetteland’s home in Bartonville, located just south of Denton.

Wetteland’s attorneys said the accuser was manipulated to levy false accusations against Wetteland.

The accuser testified that he didn’t want to involve law enforcement. Instead, he had written a letter intended only for family members disclosing the abuse. But, according to testimony, an investigation started after the accuser’s high school learned of the allegations in 2019 when district software flagged a letter written in Google Docs that was linked to the accuser’s school-issued email.

Prosecutor Rachel Nichols said the accuser had “nothing to gain” by coming forward with abuse allegations.

“He’s not this evil kid,” Nichols said. “He didn’t want the world to know.”

UK Met Police officer admits to kidnap and rape of Sarah Everard, accepting responsibility for her murder

Met Police Officer Wayne Couzens has admitted to the kidnapping and rape of Sarah Everard, who went missing while walking home on March 3, accepting responsibility for her death but not entering a plea on the charge of murder.

Appearing at the UK’s Old Bailey court, Couzens, who was a serving police officer at the time he committed the crime, admitted he kidnapped and raped Everard. However, the court did not ask him to enter a plea on the charge of murder, as it is still awaiting medical reports, and so it only heard that he accepted responsibility for her death.

Several members of Everard’s family were in court to hear the 48-year-old former police officer respond “Guilty, sir” when asked by the judge to respond to the charges of kidnapping “unlawfully and by force or fraud” on March 3 and rape between March 3 and 10.

After a significant police investigation, 33-year-old Everard’s body was found hidden in woodland near Ashford, Kent, miles away from where she disappeared walking back from a friend’s house in Clapham, London.

A post-mortem examination conducted at William Harvey Hospital in Ashford found that Everard died from oppression of the neck, according to a statement released by the police last week.

Couzens, who was only seen via video link from Belmarsh prison, where he is being held, will next appear in court on July 9.

Prior to his arrest, Couzens served as a uniformed officer in the Met’s Parliamentary and Diplomatic Protection Command.

The death of Everard sparked anger and outrage throughout the UK, with Prime Minister Boris Johnson confirming that the government will provide more money for improved street lighting and plain-clothes police officers in pubs and clubs to “identify predatory and suspicious offenders.”

Northland underage sex trafficking: Man jailed for sexual exploitation, assault

A man who was the key organiser of the Northland underage sex trafficking case has been sent to jail for more than seven years.

The 36-year-old, who has temporary name suppression, admitted a total of 21 charges in relation to indecent assault, unlawful sexual connection and sexual exploitation of a young person.

The Far North mechanic was aged 35 when the offending took place, between December 2019 and February 2020.

The first victim was aged just 15 at the time, while a second victim – her close friend – was aged just 14.

In front of a packed courtroom in the High Court in Whangārei on Tuesday, the offender appeared in the docks in a grey jumper with a shaved head, and kept an impassive face throughout the sentencing.

The court heard how the offender was trusted by the 15-year-old and her family, living in the family home.

Huh? He was a convicted rapist!

The family believed the man was helping the teenager with personal issues, but the relationship developed and he began having sex with her.

On one occasion, he also forced himself onto the victim’s 14-year-old friend, who was sleeping over at the time.

Community members protest child sexual exploitation outside Kaikohe District Court in October, when other offenders were sentenced. DENISE PIPER/STUFF

The offender also encouraged the 15-year-old victim to have sex with other men, and arranged for this to happen.

He advertised on a personal website called Locanto, using a photo of the teenager, with the words: “Young couple looking for an older gent to have sex with young girlfriend; rewards or cash could help.”

The ad enticed a total of nine men to reply, with four of them arranging to meet and have sex with the victim, in exchange for cash.

The four men were sentenced to home detention for paying to have sex with the 15-year-old, sentences which enraged the community.

Good grief!

Justice Geoffrey Venning said the offending had a significant impact on the victims and their families, and the victim impact statements were “harrowing” reading.

“It’s difficult to imagine how the principal victim will recover from your abuse, in her home where she should’ve been safe,” the judge told the offender.

The main victim was vulnerable to be exploited, not only because of her age but because of the offender’s ongoing abuse, and the offender cynically used her body for his gain, Venning said.

In sentencing, the judge took into account the difference in ages, breach of trust and abusive nature of the relationship.

He gave a discount of 17.5 per cent because of the offender’s guilty plea, and a discount of 7.5 per cent for the offender’s disconnection with his family, and Aboriginal and Ngāi Tahu cultures.

However, Venning refused to give any discount for remorse, saying nothing in the offender’s statements amounted to true remorse.

The man was sentenced for seven years and 10 months in jail for the principal charge of dealing in a person under 18 for sex.

For seven charges of dealing in a young person for commercial sexual services, and four charges of dealing in a young person for sexual exploitation, he was sentenced to five years in jail, to be served concurrently.

For one charge of indecently assaulting a female under 16, and eight charges of unlawful sexual connection with a young person, he was sentenced to four years, three months in jail, also to be served concurrently.

Venning gave the man a second strike under the three strikes law, because of an earlier conviction for rape.

The second strike means the sentence of seven years, 10 months in prison will be served without parole.

Why the concurrent sentences? He showed no remorse, so we know when he gets out he's going to do it again. It will be his 3rd strike and probably his last, but some girl will have to suffer needlessly because the judge didn't have sense enough to make his sentence consecutive rather than current.

The man was also registered on child sex offenders’ register, with life-long monitoring.

So, how was that working?

Lagos Court Denies Alleged Paedophile, Baba Ijesha Bail

By Ebenezer Olatunji, The Trente
June 16, 2021

A magistrate court sitting in Yaba, Lagos state, on Wednesday, June 16 denied Omiyinka Olanrewaju popularly known as Baba Ijesha, bail.

The Nollywood actor was arrested in April for allegedly defiling the foster daughter of comedienne, Princess, when she was 7-years-ago (7 years old?) and sexually assaulting her again at age 14.

After 25 days in detention, Baba Ijesha was granted bail on May 17 by magistrates in charge of prison decongestion. He however has remained in custody as he failed to meet his bail conditions.

Baba was arraigned before the Magistrate court on Wednesday where his counsel, Kayode Olabiran, prayed the court to release his client on health grounds.

Delivering a ruling in the bail application, the magistrate, P.E Nwaka, held that the court can not grant the actor bail because the matter is beyond its jurisdiction. The judge also explained that the case has already been filed before the high court.

Also speaking, Yetunde Cardoso, the superintendent of police in charge of the case, said the matter is now beyond the police.

She said; “Mr Olanrewaju was actually granted bail during the JUSUN strike and based on the conditions given, he couldn’t meet them and he was properly charged today.

“Just like the court stated, the case has already been filed before the high court and the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) of Lagos State Ministry of Justice has taken over the matter from the police.

“So presently, we have handed over to the DPP so the case is before them (DPP). It has nothing to do with the police anymore, it’s now left for the DPP to handle it.”

Baba Ijesha is facing trial over charges bothering on rape, sexual assault and abuse of a minor. He was charged with indecent treatment of a child, defilement of a child, sexual assault by penetration, attempted sexual assault by penetration and sexual assault which contravenes Sections 135, 137, 261, 202, 262 and 263 of the Lagos State Criminal Law 2015.

He pleaded not guilty when the charges were read out to him.

The case has been adjourned to July 13 for mention.

Paedophile asked dad if he could rape his two-year-old daughter

He also wanted to rape the man's nine-year-old autistic daughter

A paedophile asked a dad if he could rape his two-year-old daughter in a series of sickening messages.

Matthew Parr said he also wanted to rape the man's nine-year-old daughter after being told she was autistic.

So, being autistic somehow made her more desirable to him? What a sicko!

The 46-year-old didn't realise he was actually speaking to an undercover police officer when he requested a description of the children and asked "would it be like a foursome?".

Parr even sent the police officer a disgusting child rape video of a toddler, aged between two and three.

Charlotte Atherton, prosecuting today at Liverpool Crown Court, said on March 12 last year Parr contacted the officer, who was using the name 'MancDad', on Grindr.

Between March 12, 2020 and June 16, 2020 Parr messaged the officer, who called himself 'Lee', and said he was a dad of two, to which the paedophile replied "that sounded amazing".

They exchanged details for Wickr, an online communication platform, and Parr messaged the officer under the name 'DirtyBiLabourer' and made various sexual suggestions related to the children.

Ms Atherton said: "The officer said he was happy to meet like-minded individuals for what he called 'play time'."

The next day Parr asked if he could perform sex acts on the children and said "do you know any others that play" before he "asked for a description of the children". Parr also asked the officer if he was "free that weekend" and "would it be like a foursome?"

On April 8 Parr again asked "when he would next have his children" to which the officer replied it was "tricky" due to coronavirus restrictions.

Parr continued to ask when he could see the children and said "he'd been having lots of horny talk and 'I'd love to meet'".

Two days later Parr gave the officer his email address and emailed him to say he would "love to get to know the three of them". He told the officer: "Initially he just wanted to meet up and see how he goes because he didn't want to scare the children and would 'like to let them lead'".

When the officer said he would "watch" Parr asked "if the officer was a cop or undercover because he was scared". Ms Atherton said he then sent the officer a video of a toddler, aged between two and three, being raped.

After the officer said the children were "great about it in particular because his eldest was autistic" Parr continued to confirm he "remained interested".

Ms Atherton said there was less communication between May 1 and June 16 and Parr "didn't follow up on the date given by the officer".

Parr was arrested on June 23 and he admitted deleting sickening images of children, chats and mobile numbers. He claimed he had spoken with others who had "admitted to abusing their own children".

Officers discovered 29 images of child rape, 70 other indecent images of children and two images of extreme pornography.

Parr has two previous convictions and in 1994 was fined for soliciting for immoral purposes.

James Heyworth, defending, said it was "unlikely to have materialised in a face-to-face meeting". He said while Parr didn't admit his offending in the first police interview he did admit it in a subsequent interview.

Mr Heyworth said: "So many people in this sort of offending often deny any sexual interest in children. "He is clearly a man who is unwilling to admit he does, when the facts clearly demonstrate he does."

Speaking about a pre-sentence report Mr Heyworth said Parr appears to be in a "type of denial about why he did this and what the underlying motivations were".

In the report Parr also "continues to talk about having online sexual communication" which Parr claimed was in relation to adult sexual activity.

Mr Heyworth stressed Parr didn't have "any recent relevant convictions" and "did make some attempt to contact 'Stop it Now'" but Mr Heyworth added "I accept on his behalf there is a long way to go to fully appreciate what he was doing".

Parr, of Old Wargrave Road, Newton-Le-Willows, admitted; three counts of making indecent images of children, possession of indecent images of children, possession of extreme pornographic images, three counts of distributing indecent images of children and two counts of arranging the commision of a child sex offence in relation to the two fictional children.

Judge Andrew Menary, QC, said the nature of the conversations will "appall and outrage all decent minded people" adding it was "truly outrageous behaviour".

The judge said: "You were planning and largely hoping such a meeting could be arranged and for a time you pushed for such a meeting."

Judge Menary said if a meeting had happened "I have no doubt your expectation was penetrative activity with very young children would occur".

The judge said: "It seems likely you had become suspicious of 'Lee', at one point in fact asked if he was a police officer."

Referring to Parr ceasing contact with the officer Judge Menary said: "I am sure at that point, not because you lost your desire to do what you earlier proposed but because you were fearful because the conversation in the end might not have been real."

Parr was jailed for five years and must sign the Sex Offenders Register for life.

He must also adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same period.

Pornhub, parent company MindGeek sued for allegedly profiting off videos of sexual assault

June 18, 2021

A bombshell lawsuit was filed Thursday against Pornhub and its parent company MindGeek, accusing the adult website of hosting and profiting off videos depicting rape and the sexual exploitation of children.

34 women have joined the civil lawsuit, accusing MindGeek of running a “criminal enterprise.”

“MindGeek is the most dominant online pornography company in the world. It is also one of the largest human trafficking ventures in the world. And it is likely the largest non-regulatory repository of child pornography in North America and well beyond,” the lawsuit asserts.

In the lawsuit, it is emphasized that the case against MindGeek is not about porn, but about child exploitation, rape, and coercion.

“This is a case about rape, not pornography,” it reads. “It is a case about the rape and sexual exploitation of children. It is a case about the rape and sexual exploitation of men and women. And it is a case about each of these defendants knowingly and intentionally electing to capitalize and profit from the horrendous exploitation and abuse of tens of thousands of other human beings so they could make more than the enormous sums of money they would have otherwise made anyway.”

CBS News reported that MindGeek owns and operates over 100 pornographic websites, including high-traffic sites such as RedTube, YouPorn, and Xtube. “MindGeek also owns porn production companies that create content, but for years, a majority of the content on Pornhub was uploaded by unverified users. MindGeek operates some paid-subscription sites, but Pornhub is free for anyone to access and earns money through advertising revenue and optional, premium subscriptions.”

“The online porn industry has essentially been the Red Light District of commerce,” said Michael Bowe, who’s representing the dozens of women fighting back against MindGeek. “This new industry of online porn, for the last 10 years, has been allowed by law enforcement, government entities, to operate by a different set of rules. Basically, no rules or oversight.”

The civil case is based on racketeering laws, which CBS notes are typically used to go after mobsters and drug gangs.

Some of the victims, videos of whom have been posted Pornhub without their consent and were as young as 15 at the time, joined the suit after reaching out to activist Laila Mickelwait.

Mickelwait has been relentless in her pursuit against the exploitation and sex trafficking of young men and women, including minors. Mickelwait founded the Traffickinghub movement and started a petition to shut down Pornhub, which has been signed by more than 2.2 million people.

One of the underage victims, known as “Michelle,” told CBS “that she was targeted at age 15 by an abuser who has since been convicted of blackmailing children to sexually abuse themselves on camera.”

She said that the videos’ uploads on Pornhub had “way, way worse” of an impact on her than even her blackmailer’s initial abuse. “It was only when my videos went on sites like Pornhub that my life started to become something that I couldn’t live out properly,” she said, adding that she stopped eating, leaving the house and once attempted suicide.

Michelle reported the videos to Pornhub during the fall of 2018 and continued flagging content for the site to take down throughout 2019. And although Pornhub took down all unverified content last year, Michele said she continues to find images of her abuse re-uploaded on other websites. She said, “Any other place I find my videos there’s some type of mention of Pornhub or where they originated from, and my name was always with them.”

Strangers continue to contact her about her videos, she said, and one man even showed up at her house, telling her that he’d found her through Pornhub.

Speaking to the Daily Wire, advocate and sex-trafficking survivor Eliza Bleu said that she hopes the suit spurs accountability from MindGeek and justice for survivors.

“Every single time I see another lawsuit against Pornhub my heart sinks,” Bleu said in an emailed statement. “Half of me is devastated knowing how much pain and agony the survivors have had to live through in order to even get to the point where the lawsuit is filed.”

“I think about the survivors’ assault or multiple assaults. I think about the survivors finding their sexual exploitation on Pornhub and desperately begging the platform to remove the content. I think about the survivors watching the ‘views’ of their assault reaching the hundreds of thousands on the platform. I think about the child survivors trying to process what is happening, and desperately trying to navigate the removal of the material on their own. I think about the long-term emotional and physical devastation placed on each survivor.”

“The other half of me,” Bleu continued, “is filled with admiration for each of the survivors suing Pornhub.”

“The strength and bravery that it takes to relive some of the worst moments of your life over and over again is beyond comprehension. These survivors have been willing to take on the ‘MindGeek Mafia’ to ensure that the company will no longer be able to knowingly profit off of child sexual abuse material, revenge porn, sexual assault, and human trafficking.”

“It fills me with hope to see survivors willing to be a voice for the voiceless. Each survivor in each lawsuit is the voice for many survivors that either haven’t stepped forward yet, or for those that never will for whatever reason. Some survivors of Pornhub unfortunately are not with us to see this day. Some died by suicide. Some died by self-harm or other causes. In some cases, we will never know what happened.”

“My hope is that each survivor receives the justice that they deserve and that Pornhub/ MindGeek as a whole is held accountable,” Bleu’s statement closed.

MindGeek released a statement concerning the suit which said that “any suggestion” that MindGeek “tolerates or celebrates this material is patently false.”

“The spread of illegal content is an existential threat to the internet, and every platform has the moral obligation to join the fight against it,” the statement said. “Illegal material on the internet harms its victims, internet users, and all platforms that operate online. Any suggestion that the company tolerates or celebrates this material is patently false.”

It appears, for the most part, that PornHub will remove most questionable material at some point after being asked. The problem is, once it is out there, it is out there for good. Questionable material should never be published in the first place.

Adelaide man refused bail over alleged manslaughter of newborn son,

separate child abuse charges

By Sara Tomevska
ABC Australia

An Adelaide man charged with the manslaughter and criminal neglect of his newborn son has been refused bail.

Ashley John McGregor
, 31, of Christie Downs, in Adelaide's south, is also facing child sex abuse charges, including maintaining an unlawful sexual relationship with a child, having sexual intercourse with a person under 14 years old, and producing and possessing child exploitation material.

Mr. McGregor appeared in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court via video link this afternoon, following his arrest on Friday over the death of his 21-day-old son.

The infant died in April after being taken to Noarlunga Hospital in an unresponsive state.

The court heard the baby had extensive brain bleeding and fractured ribs, and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Mr McGregor's lawyer Andrew Williams told the court his client claimed he had dropped his son when he tripped over his dog, and that he called the baby's mother to inform her of the incident.

Mr Williams said Mr McGregor dropped the baby on April 21, two days before the infant was taken to hospital.

The prosecution told the court a preliminary medical examination of the baby boy suggested his injuries were "inflicted", contradicting Mr McGregor's version of events.

"Those injuries included extensive brain bleeding and fractured ribs," the prosecutor said.

Prosecutors told the court they were also speaking to the baby's mother.

Images 'worst we've seen'

The court also heard that additional charges related to Mr McGregor's alleged child sex offending could be laid, with "thousands of images" of a pornographic nature found on one of four mobile phones seized from him by police.

"There's thousands of images on the phone; they haven't all been categorised as of yet [in terms of severity], but some of the images are some of the worst we've seen," the prosecutor said.

In her remarks on why bail was not granted, Magistrate Sue O'Connor stressed the serious nature of the two sets of charges Mr McGregor faced.

"The complexity of both these investigations, the fact that home detention would allow him to access the internet and phones … is such that I do not consider that it's in the interest of justice … for this man to be released on bail," she said.

Good choice!

Mr McGregor will appear again in court in February next year.

Father accused of over 600 sex assaults against daughter

Court officials took two days to read out all 626 charges
against the 36-year-old divorcee
Gulf News, AFP

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian man has been charged with more than 600 sex assaults against his daughter, and could face a jail term of over 12,000 years if found guilty, officials said Thursday.

Court officials took two days to read out all 626 charges against the 36-year-old divorcee, and finished Thursday afternoon.

They included 599 charges of sodomy against the 15-year-old girl, as well as counts of incest, rape and other sex crimes.

The bespectacled suspect, in a grey T-shirt and blue trousers was calm when the charges were read in court. He pleaded not guilty and the case will now proceed to trial.

“He faces a prison sentence of over 12,000 years,” Aimi Syazwani, a deputy public prosecutor, told AFP at a newly-established special court for sex crimes against children in the administrative capital Putrajaya.

For each charge of sodomy, the man can be punished with a maximum jail term of 20 years, as well as caning. He faces a rape charge that carries a maximum sentence of 20 years, and 30 other charges of sexual assault, each punishable by up to 20 years in jail.

Judge Yong Zarida Sazali denied the man bail after prosecutors warned there was a danger of him fleeing or intimidating witnesses.

The suspect cannot be named to protect the identity of the victim.

The man, who sold investment products, was arrested on July 26 after the girl’s mother lodged a police report. The offences were allegedly committed between January and July this year, when the daughter was living with her father.

Good grief! What a nightmare! Over 600 abuses in just 200 days. Poor girl! God have mercy on her.

The special court for sexual crimes against children was launched in June.

'IT’S HAPPENING EVERYWHERE'

Rotherham sex abuse whistleblower warns grooming rings like Newcastle gang are all over the UK – and people are too scared of being called racist to report them
By Ellie Cambridge

A ROTHERHAM whistleblower believes vile grooming gangs are operating all over the UK and said people are too scared of being branded racist to speak up.

Jayne Senior, who fought for 15 years to bring the horrors of the Rotherham sex ring to light, spoke after ANOTHER grooming gang was revealed yesterday to be operating in Newcastle and abusing vulnerable children.

The 17 men and one woman who were found guilty following Northumbria Police’s investigation into child sexual exploitation in Newcastle

She told the Sun Online: “It’s happening everywhere – Rotherham’s not unique – we shone a light on it. “We always knew it wasn’t just Rotherham and it’s just devastating that it’s gone on.”

A total of 18 people were convicted of or admitted offences in a series of trials related to child sexual exploitation in Newcastle.

The gang lured vulnerable girls to “parties” in the city’s West End where they were plied with booze and drugs and passed from one man to another for sex.

The altar of political correctness

Jayne, who won an MBE for her work in bringing twisted paedophiles to justice in Rotherham, said the latest case left her “devastated” that more children were not being protected.

She said: “It just upsets me – how many more lives have been destroyed? That’s what we created as we didn’t do anything.”

The former child worker, who has since gone on to write a book about her experiences called Broken and Betrayed, also slammed political correctness, claiming it, in part, had helped create a climate where these sex beasts could operate.

She said of the Rotherham case “it was a race issue and obviously what we didn’t want to do was make it a race issue”, as she agreed people are too nervous about appearing racist when spotting indications of grooming.

Today a Labour frontbencher today echoed Jayne’s sentiments as shadow women and equalities secretary and Labour MP for Rotherham Sarah Champion said: “People are more afraid to be called a racist than they are afraid to be wrong about calling out child abuse”.

How insane is that? - Sacrificing children on the altar of political correctness!

Jayne told how she was appalled to see a chilling reminder of what she fought to expose for more than a decade, in the latest convictions.

She said: “What are we actually doing to tackle it? It's one of the only really serious crimes that we actually sit back and wait until we have the evidence to intervene.

"Why are we not acting when the risks are there?

"Do we have to wait for that abuse to happen for us to intervene?

"This can happen to any child."

Jayne first became aware of grooming gangs when she worked at a youth project set up by Rotherham Council in 1997 to work with girls and young women at risk of sexual exploitation

Young girls would come into the project telling horrific tales of abuse at the hands of a number of men – most of whom were Asian.

When she tried to alert the authorities to what she had found she was ignored, until the tide turned in 2014 and a report concluded hundreds of girls in the town had been abused by a gang of men largely of Pakistani origin.

Jayne said: “It was a race issue and obviously what we didn’t want to do was make it a race issue.”

Jayne, who was named the 2015 Woman of the Year for her work, said figures like restaurant owners, taxi drivers and shop owners could play key parts in spotting signs of young people being abused on the streets.

She echoed the sentiment of the Northumbria police chief Steve Ashman who said "it is for individual communities to ask themselves whether they are doing all they can" to fight the rise of such gangs."

Of the Newcastle gang Jayne said: “The evidence has been there, it’s been building and you just think how many times are we actually going to do this and stay destroying children’s lives.

"There a chapter of people that we've continually missed out on [that could report signs] and that's our communities."

Her views were back up by Sammy Woodhouse, a survivor of the Rotherham abuse who waived her right to anonymity.

Speaking on Channel 4 last night she said: "It's not just happening in Rotherham, Rochdale, Newcastle, it's absolutely everywhere. It's in homes, streets, online.

"I think a lot needs to be done, It think it's being going on for generations and generations, it's just only now that we are starting to talk about it and bringing it in the forefront."

Child webcam sex demand
‘outstripping supply’: UN

BANGKOK: Demand for sex with children is an emerging cause of human trafficking in the Mekong region, the United Nations said today, as it pointed to a shift in child sex webcam centres from the Philippines to Thailand.

Jeremy Douglas, regional representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (Unodc), and Kittipong Kittayarak, Executive Director of the Thailand Institute of Justice, speak to the media during a news conference at the United Nations building in Bangkok, Thailand, August 10, 2017. — Reuters

The problem had grown so much that demand for child webcam sex tourism is "outstripping the supply", Deanna Davy, senior research consultant at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (Unodc), said at the launch of a new trafficking report in Bangkok.

Thailand is a regional hub for the smuggling and trafficking of men, women, and children from poorer neighbouring countries such as Cambodia and Myanmar.

Many are forced to work in Thailand's sex industry and in labour intensive sectors such as fishing, construction, and agriculture, where they are sometimes subject to abuse, according to probes by rights groups and the media.

Around four million migrants live in Thailand, according to 2015 government data. The Unodc estimates that between 4% and 23% of migrants in Thailand are trafficking victims.

Jeremy Douglas, regional representative of the Unodc, said recent intelligence showed a shift in child sex abuse webcam centres to Thailand from the Philippines, where authorities have tried to crack down on the illegal trade.

He said the victims were children from Thailand and neighbouring countries.

"When things operate in the shadows like that it's really hidden ... but this should be an issue of concern," he said.

"It used to be the Philippines but through some of our interviews we've found that it's moving here and we're seeing some intelligence indicate that a move of people setting up operations in Thailand is happening."

A spokesman for the Thai government was not able to comment immediately on the Unodc findings.

The UN children's agency said in a 2016 report poor families in the Philippines were pushing their children into performing live sex online for paedophiles around the globe, calling it a form of "child slavery".

The Unodc pointed on Thursday to child sex abuse, along with trafficked migrant labour for illegal logging purposes, as emerging trafficking issues of concern in the region.

A Bangkok court convicted dozens of people, including police and politicians, last month for trafficking migrants in Thailand's biggest human trafficking trial.

In June, the US State Department left Thailand on a Tier 2 Watchlist, just above the lowest ranking of Tier 3, in its annual Trafficking in Persons Report, because it said Thailand did not do enough to tackle human smuggling and trafficking. — Reuters

Australia's Ballarat diocese accused of breaking Church sex abuse guidelines by challenging compensation claim
by Mark Brolly

The Diocese of Ballarat, one of the Catholic bodies most scrutinised by Australia's Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse, has been accused of breaking the Church’s guidelines in resisting a compensation claim by a victim of laicised priest Gerald Ridsdale.

The guidelines state a claimant cannot be required to prove the elements of an abuse case that the Church authority had already accepted to be true.

But lawyer Paula Shelton said the Diocese was challenging parts of her client's claim that were accepted by a court when Ridsdale was convicted of the abuse. Her client was seven years old when sexually abused by Ridsdale, who is now in jail, in 1980.

She told the Australian Broadcasting Corporation on 6 August that the Diocese was now denying the circumstances of his abuse, despite the fact they were accepted by the Victorian County Court when Ridsdale was sentenced three years ago.

"What is very irritating and irking to our clients is that we have these bishops who show up ... at the Royal Commission and say they're going to treat these plaintiffs compassionately and this is what we get," Ms Shelton said.

Her client, called "John", said: "I'm tired dealing with an organisation that seems to have no moral compass."

Ballarat's Bishop Paul Bird, in a statement to the ABC, rejected suggestions his diocese was not following the church guidelines, which were drawn up by the Church's Truth, Justice and Healing Council.

"If we are not able to resolve the claim through alternative dispute resolution and the claimant begins litigation, we seek to cooperate fully as indicated in the TJHC guidelines," Bishop Bird said. "For example, we do not require a claimant to prove a matter which we know to be true or have accepted as true."

In his civil claim, "John" said two former bishops of Ballarat who oversaw Ridsdale, Sir James O'Collins (1941-71) and Ronald Mulkearns (1971-97), failed to take reasonable steps to ensure his safety, instead moving Ridsdale from parish to parish.

Meanwhile, legislation to establish a national redress scheme for survivors of institutional child sexual abuse is due to be debated by Federal Parliament in the next few weeks. The scheme will allow states, territories and non-government institutions - including the Catholic Church, which has committed to the scheme - to join on a "'responsible entity pays" basis and has been a key recommendation of the Royal Commission.

Subject to the passage of the legislation, the scheme is due to begin operations in 2018.

Ahsan Khan’s book will shed light on the problem of child sexual abuse in Pakistan
by Eeshah Omer

Ahsan Khan is amongst one of the most famous male actors in Pakistan, who has always proved his mettle in the industry with continuous efforts. Khan is currently working on a book that deals with the problem of child sexual abuse, according to a press release.

“I have always had great love for children,” says Khan. “Their welfare and happiness is very important to me. When I was preparing for my role as a sexual predator in ‘Udaari’, I studied the problem of child sexual abuse, in great detail, especially as it exists in Pakistan. The statistics were horrifying.” said Ahsan.

He further added, “I was deeply distressed to learn about the pervasiveness of the menace in our country and made a promise to myself to fight to help reduce and, hopefully, eliminate child sexual abuse from not only Pakistan but the entire globe. The book is a first step towards making good on the promise.”

The book is expected to be published in the Spring of 2018, titled Coming of Age – My Education in Child Sexual Abuse

Victorian man jailed for sex abuse of
nine-year-old girl

A Victorian man who sexually abused a nine-year-old girl and told her father that she "wanted it" has been jailed for at least three years.

Keith Dudley, 58, was today sentenced to a maximum of four-and-a-half years in prison, with a minimum of three years, for indecently and sexually assaulting the girl.

A jury found Dudley guilty of five counts of indecent assault with a child under 16, and one charge of sexual penetration of a child under 10, following a trial in the Victorian County Court.

The young girl was abused between 1994 and 1995 in regional Victoria.

On one occasion, Dudley exposed himself while driving.

"You told her that what you had done was wrong and she shouldn't tell anyone about it," Judge Frank Gucciardo said.

Dudley also told the child he wanted to "help her to be an adult".

The girl's father confronted Dudley about the abuse. "When asked why you assaulted her, you said 'she wanted it'," Judge Gucciardo said.

The victim also confronted Dudley about the abuse as an adult, and decided to report him to police in 2015 after realising he had no remorse.

The woman said she did not hate Dudley or feel pity for him. "All I wanted from the start was for him to get help and feel regret and remorse," she said in a victim impact statement.

Judge Gucciardo said Dudley has displayed a "wanton indifference" to the effects of his repulsive acts.

"You betrayed her trust and her parents' trust," the judge said. "You exploited her vulnerability, naivety and above all, her innocence."

Dudley represented himself at trial after sacking two teams of lawyers. Today he complained about his trial and questioned Judge Gucciardo's directions to the jury.

"I reject the suggestion that I did nothing to recognise your disadvantage as being unrepresented," the judge said. "To a large extent, you failed to cooperate for a large part of the trial."

Dudley, who has already spent 84 days in pre-sentence custody, said he would commence legal action in the Supreme Court about his detention.

Orthodox Survivor Of Sex Abuse Exposes Child Sex Traumas In New Film

You wouldn’t believe she’s only 20.

With no film schooling or experience, Baltimore native Miryam Rabinowitz has thrown herself into a film project that tells the story of sexual abuse — or rather, its lonely, complex aftermath.

“Still Feeling” tells the story of Yuval Goldenberg, a young woman who was abused during her childhood in an Israeli national religious community. Goldenberg, no longer Orthodox, is a singer and composer now. With an earthy voice, standing rather awkwardly, eyes half-closed, she lets song tell her pain.

Rabinowitz is a survivor of sexual abuse herself — and a graduate of the ultra-Orthodox Bais Yaakov girls school system.

“Most people around me don’t acknowledge the fact that I was abused at all,” she told me in an interview. “I have close friends who don’t acknowledge it. My film trailer was the first time I said it publicly. I’m making this documentary for my friends and family to be able to say, ‘This is for you to know how to talk about it with me.’

“I know it’s hard for people to process. When someone says they were raped by a family member, you’ll never be able to understand what that feels like, but you do understand that basic feeling of shame and suffering. It’s by empathy — through art and music — that we can come to understand another’s pain, rather than through intellectual understanding.”

In her forthcoming film, shot mostly in Tel Aviv, Rabinowitz shows Goldenberg talking about her music and her dissociation, as she bounces between her Orthodox family and her artist friends, many of whom are also survivors of abuse.

“Don’t assume that people are normal and happy,” Rabinowitz said. “My friend and I went along the same path. We wore the same school uniform. I went home and I was abused. She went home and she wasn’t. We lived parallel lives, except mine was covered in soot. I looked the same, but I may not have acted the same. Understand that I was in an upside-down world.”

Her film, now in post-production, is a window into this world of childhood trauma.

“Where I come from, it’s really stuffed under the rug, though it’s starting to change,” she said matter-of-factly. Her wide, blue eyes stared straight ahead. She cited the case of another young woman in her community who accused her father of molesting her. “The whole community shut her up; they told her to leave in silence, so she left for Israel,” Rabinowitz said. “People say, ‘She’s crazy’; no one believed her. Yeah, she’s crazy. If your father is lying on top of you every night, suffocating you and raping you, of course you’re crazy. When you survive abuse, there’s always someone else in your head. You see it in Yuval.”

Rabinowitz didn’t go into too much detail about her own story, but years of abuse, and her subsequent turn to substance abuse, landed her in Retorno, an Israeli religious drug rehab center. When she returned to the States, “straightened out” and “frum again,” her past as a vulnerable young woman continued to haunt her. When she was 18, a community member drove her home from an event and said he had to stop at his house to “get something,” inviting her in.

“I was 18 years old, and he was 70 years old, a very prominent person in the community,” she said. “He brought me to his house, and he did something to me.” After pausing, she continued, “When he drove me home, he said, ‘Wow, the things you make me do…. ’ I told a domestic abuse organization about what happened, and they told me, ‘If you go to the police, you have nothing on him; no one will believe you, and he will bury you.’”

That was the moment that she realized something needs to change. “I would be speaking to religious kids from different communities, from around the world, and everyone had a story, everyone knows someone who is affected by this,” she said. “We need everyone to finally be open and connect all those stories to make a difference.”

She rattles off harrowing story after story, name after name, with unnerving poise.

“My focus is not on the perpetrators. So instead I’ve turned to film to tell my story. My goal is to use Yuval’s story to de-stigmatize the issue of child sexual abuse. I hope to motivate people who have not experienced this trauma to take action to help victims.”
