A legal agreement that was being brokered between Hillsong Church Australia and former member and ex-Hillsong College student Anna Crenshaw to settle a lawsuit over the harm she suffered from being indecently assaulted by a married church administrator in 2016 fell through Thursday. Crenshaw alleges that Hillsong asked her to lie and sign a non-disclosure agreement.

“We were unable to come to a settlement today because Hillsong changed their plan in a ploy to intimidate and silence me. And I will not give up my voice. This has never been about money for me but about justice and accountability, which we’ve not received this week,” Crenshaw told reporters outside an Australian court Thursday.

On Monday, just over three years after she went public about being indecently assaulted by married Hillsong Church administrator Jason Mays, Crenshaw's attorney announced they had reached an undisclosed settlement agreement with the megachurch for the harm she suffered as a result of the assault.

The settlement was expected to head off a five-day trail which is now back in play. Crenshaw, who is the daughter of Victory Church Senior Pastor Ed Crenshaw in Pennsylvania, said she was disheartened when the church asked her to sign an NDA as part of the settlement and also asked that she release a joint statement saying the church had immediately reported her assault to local police when she came forward, even though it took the church five months.

“There is so much shame that comes with these types of abuses and victims shouldn’t feel shame. I worked so hard in finding my voice in coming forward from my initial report to Hillsong and they have from day one tried to silence me,” Crenshaw said. “That is not what I was seeking in the justice process. It wasn’t to come here, get their money, and walk away without my voice,” Crenshaw said. “It was to get some accountability and a real sense of justice and hope that they would really change in moving forward. I think this is just evidence that despite their new leadership, they have the same tactics.”

Crenshaw was just 18 in 2016 when she says Mays, who was then serving as a Hillsong staff administrator and volunteer singer, sexually assaulted her at a social gathering in Australia. Crenshaw and her father said it took a serious fight from them to hold Mays accountable. He eventually pleaded guilty to indecent assault.

Where is the fear of God here? Lying, and counselling to lie are Satanic practices, not Christian. Hillsong needs an awakening of godly morals.

Romania must legalise same-sex civil unions, Europe's top rights court ruled on Tuesday, in a victory for LGBTQ+ campaigners in the socially conservative southeastern European country.

Twenty-one same-sex couples took Romania to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), arguing the lack of legal recognition of their relationships "deprived them of their dignity as spouses". 

In a ruling on Tuesday, the ECHR found the country had violated Article 8 of the European Convention, which protects the right to respect for family life, by not giving LGBTQ+ couples any means of legally safeguarding their relationships.

The Romanian couples cited the disadvantages faced under current domestic laws, such as being barred from mortgage programmes, spousal bereavement leave or joint health insurance.

The ECHR said none of the government's arguments outweighed the couples' concerns, and further ruled that recognising same-sex civil unions would not harm the institution of marriage.

The ruling will become legally binding after a three-month period in which both sides have the right to appeal to a higher court of the ECHR.

If neither do, the ruling will stand and lead to Romania being required to implement legislation to introduce same-sex civil unions.

The Balkan nation of almost 20 million people remains largely socially conservative, ranking 41st out of 49 in the 2023 ranking of European countries' LGBTQ+ rights by advocacy group ILGA-World.

However, in 2021, a survey by Romanian civil rights group Accept Association showed 43% of respondents said they were in favour of legal protection for same-sex relationships.

Seventy-one percent said the move would have no impact on their lives.

Activists welcomed the ECHR's judgement, saying they hoped to see a bill concerning civil partnership, which has stalled in parliament since 2019, finally becoming law.

"For too long we, the LGBTQ+ people in Romania, have been treated as second-class citizens and it is time for a change," said Vlad Viski, executive director of MozaiQ LGBT Association.

Actor and Christian activist Kirk Cameron is claiming that more than 50 public libraries have rejected his applications to hold a “story hour” to promote his new faith-based children’s book, accusing them of indulging the “woke left.”

The “Growing Pains” star says he hasn’t been given a story hour slot in public libraries, claiming that his publisher, Brave Books, has been told the messaging of his faith-based book, “As You Grow,” “does not align” with the LGBTQ-welcoming institutions.

Dozens of public libraries in the US have reportedly rejected or not responded to his publisher’s request for the former child star to hold an event, according to Fox News.

“We are a very queer-friendly library. Our messaging does not align,” one library worker from Rochambeau Public Library in Providence, Rhode Island — which promotes an event called the “Queer Umbrella” — reportedly told Brave Books.

Cameron, 52, has previously condemned gay people, saying that homosexuality is “unnatural,” “detrimental” and “ultimately destructive.”

Fox reported that the publisher was told by the library official, “You can fill out the form to reserve space, to run the program in our space — but we won’t run your program.”

Another branch, City Heights/Weingart Branch Library, in San Diego, California, told them they didn’t think that’s something they would do, citing the diverse community as their reason.

“I don’t know how many people you would get,” the individual reportedly said.

There is only one way to find out! Did you know how many people you would get when you started running programs by drag queens?

Brave Books took umbrage with the library’s responses, noting that some have hosted LGBTQ+ story times with drag queens in the past and wondering why they were being rejected.

“It is devastating to discover that many of our publicly funded libraries have now become indoctrination centers that refuse to allow biblical wisdom to be taught to our children,” Trent Talbot, founder and CEO of Texas-based Brave Books, said in a statement to Fox News Digital.

Cameron described his book as teaching “biblical wisdom and the value of producing the fruit of the spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, faithfulness, self-control,” with his publisher accusing libraries of pandering to the “woke left.”

“The woke left understands that morality is instilled by the age of 10, and they want their morality to win, not the morality that the Bible teaches,” Talbot said.

“This is proof that more than ever, we are getting destroyed in the battle for the hearts and minds of our children,” Cameron ranted to Fox. “Publicly funded libraries are green-lighting ‘gender marker and name change clinics’ while denying a story time that would involve the reading of a book that teaches biblical wisdom. How much more clear can it get?”

Drag queen storytime events — which involve performers in drag outfits reading books to kids — are a contentious issue around the country, causing an outcry by some who deem it detrimental to children.

This past weekend, a Columbus, Ohio, drag queen story hour was canceled when far-right extremist organizations including the Proud Boys, White Lives Matter Ohio and Patriot Front planned to protest the event.

According to reports, about 50 people — some carrying weapons — rallied against the event.

What a shame that it has come to that. In the battle between good and evil, America's public libraries have chosen sides. The public needs to get involved and insist that if they are going to run drag queen story times, they must also run Biblical story times. 

This front in the battle for the morality of our children will lead to another generation of confused and lost children who deny the reality of biological genders, and who ignore or reject Biblical teaching.

A Biden administration Energy Department official who allegedly stole a woman’s suitcase from a Minneapolis airport in September has been accused of another luggage heist at a Las Vegas airport.

A felony warrant on grand larceny charges was issued for Sam Brinton, the deputy assistant secretary for spent fuel and waste disposition at the Department of Energy’s Office of Nuclear Energy, 8 News Now reported Thursday.

Brinton, who made history as one of the federal government’s first gender-fluid officials, allegedly stole luggage from another traveler at Harry Reid International Airport in Vegas on an unknown date, according to the outlet.

Details about the alleged theft are scarce, but 8 News Now stated that Brinton, 35, was charged with grand larceny with a value between $1,200 and $5,000.

The energy official, who uses they/them pronouns, reportedly has sticky fingers for suitcases.

Brinton was placed on leave from the Department of Energy after they were charged with felony theft for reportedly snatching a woman’s Vera Bradley suitcase from baggage claim at the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport on Sept. 16, according to court documents.

The suitcase and the woman’s belongings inside it were valued at $2,325.

Brinton initially denied taking the luggage but later claimed they mistook it for their own bag at baggage claim — despite never having checked a bag before their flight, according to court filings.

This marks the second time nuclear official Sam Brinton has been accused of stealing luggage.

They allegedly removed the suitcase’s ID tag after plucking it from the luggage carousel, video surveillance showed.

They were later seen using the Vera Bradley suitcase on at least two occasions, while traveling to Washington, DC, on Sept. 18 and Oct. 9, investigators said.

​Brinton was subsequently charged with felony theft of a moveable property without consent and placed on leave following the accusation.

Earlier this week, a group of House Republicans called for Brinton to step down over the initial allegations.

R​ep. ​Andrew Clyde of Georgia and 15 other Republicans sent a letter to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm on Tuesday calling for Brinton’s removal from the department.

“We demand the resignation of Sam Brinton, and we implore you to set aside petty politics and appoint only the most qualified and dedicated individuals to influence America’s energy sector​,” the GOP lawmakers wrote.

Dubai: A Jordanian policeman has been sentenced to death by the State Security Court for killing his lover by running over her after she threatened to reveal their relationship if he failed to marry her.

According to court files, the convict killed his lover soon after returning from Saudi Arabia where he performed Umrah pilgrimage.

The killer got to know the victim as he worked part-time as a private taxi driver. They exchanged phone numbers and their frequent meetings led to a romantic relationship. As days passed by the victim pestered him to make their illicit relationship official by marrying her.

The accused promised her to do so but kept postponing, saying that he will marry her after divorcing his wife. A while later, he told his lover he will be leaving for Saudi Arabia to perform Umrah together with his wife and mother, which got on her nerves.

To make things worse, she kept calling him and threatened him that she would tell her family of their relationship if he failed to keep his promise. Fearing his family would come to know of the affair, the convict wanted to get rid of her by running over her on the street where she would stop in order to get a ride to go to her workplace.

On the fateful day, he  executed his plan. After committing the crime, he went to a garage and got the vehicle repainted and changed the broken windshield. However, police arrested him and the assailant confessed to the crime. 

Well, now, that's much better than telling your wife you have been having an affair? How stupid can you be?

After a thorough investigation, the state security court has sentenced the man to death, but the Court of Cassation overturned the decision and the case is still pending with the court.

Cairo: Kuwaiti police had arrested a number of people suspected of involvement in immoral acts and cross-dressing in a crackdown on beauty centres and apartments-turned-massage parlours, according to a local report.

“A number of employees were arrested at more than salons and health institutes for having gone beyond health services. They are mostly people imitating the other sex,” a security source was quoted as saying by Al Anba newspaper.

“There is a follow-up of what is posted on social media about these suspicious exercises,” the source added.

The source noted that all those found guilty of involvement in “suspicious practices” will be deported and placed on non-entry lists.

“The Cyber Crime Department occasionally monitors adverts promoting suspicious home services. The offenders will be arrested. If proven to be partners to an immoral crime, they will face legal measures. Expatriate wrongdoers will be deported,” the source added.

Imitating the other sex is an offence in Kuwait punishable by a maximum one year in prison and a fine of up to KD1,000.

It was also illegal for Old Testament Israelis. Deuteronomy 22:5 ESV

Afghan evacuee found guilty of molesting 3yo in US

An Afghan refugee has been convicted of sexually abusing a 3-year-old girl at a US Marine Corps camp in Virginia following the United States’ evacuation from Afghanistan last August.

Mohammed Tariq, 24, was found guilty on Friday of sexually abusing the young girl while both of them were being housed at Virginia’s Camp Upshur on Marine Corps Base Quantico following his evacuation from Afghanistan after the Taliban takeover. Tariq is scheduled to be sentenced on April 26 and could face life in prison.

US Marines spotted Tariq “inappropriately touching the victim over her clothing, on her chest, genitals, and buttocks” at the camp last year, the US Department of Justice said in a statement released on Monday.

While “the victim and Tariq were unrelated,” they had both “recently been evacuated from Afghanistan and brought to the United States,” the statement reads. The girl was being housed at the camp with her family.

Tariq reportedly told the authorities through an interpreter that the conduct was allowed in his culture, while “efforts to have his statements suppressed were rejected by the judge,” Stars and Stripes reported.

Who attempted to have the statements suppressed? I wonder how many American media outlets actually reported the statements?

The US attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, Jessica D. Aber, praised “the resilience and courage of the victim and her family” in reporting the abuse.

The US military began evacuating its troops and allies, including native interpreters, from Afghanistan after the Taliban overran almost all of the country, eventually capturing Kabul on August 15. The hectic effort, which saw several Afghans plunging to their death as they clung to a US aircraft leaving Hamid Karzai International Airport, continued until the end of the month.

Over 73,000 Afghans were brought to the US in the initial phase of the evacuation, the White House said in November, noting that up to 22,000 additional refugees “may also be relocated and resettled to the United States” within the following year. All of the evacuees were originally flown to US military bases, where they were set to be released in communities across the country.

Obviously, they need re-orientation classes where they can learn what a civilized society tolerates and what it doesn't. 95,000 more people who are potentially pedophiles can hardly improve America's rate of child sexual abuse.

Public health nurse mistakenly gives explicit sex guide to Grade 6 & 7 students

An explicit sex guide describing fetishes and drug use was offered to preteens inside a B.C. classroom, prompting outrage from parents and an official apology from the school district.

The sex guide — which features cartoon images accompanied by explicit details of sexual acts and fetishes — was made available to grade 6 and 7 students at Erickson Elementary School in Creston, B.C., following a regular sex education class taught by a public health nurse and her trainee.

Copies of the 47-page book, which is intended for adults, were taken home by several students on June 20, according to the district. The school has since received complaints from eight different parents.

The school's principal, superintendent and the public health nurse have since issued apologies to the parents.

"It's quite graphic, and I consider myself to be a fairly liberal person — and I was shocked," said Christine Perkins, the superintendent of the Kootenay Lake School District.

"We have issued apologies, offered counselling to families, we're phoning every single parent, we've got counselling through the summer if anybody wants it," she told CBC News.

Adult cartoons

The sex education class was taught by a local public health nurse, who had been working with a nursing student to lead the three-day course at the elementary school.

On the final day, the pair brought in some extra learning materials from their office, including the Safer Sex Guide — a book produced by CATIE, a Canadian HIV awareness and research organization.

The nurse told CBC News that the book appeared — at first glance — to be age appropriate for the students. It features a series of cartoon animal characters.

But the book also features graphic descriptions of sex acts and fetishes, including bondage and shared sex toys. It even suggests ways to use drugs while having sex to reduce the chances of passing on HIV and hepatitis C.

The guide does warn that it contains sexually explicit information and is meant for mature audiences.

The public health nurse and her nursing student brought a stack of booklets to share with the classroom without realizing it contained explicit materials.

Neither the teacher of the class, nor the school's principal, thoroughly vetted the content.

Parents outraged

The district said several students took the book home. At least eight parents filed complaints.

Liz Anderson says her 12-year-old son Garrett saw the booklet, and then showed it to a student from another class.

"This book was on the side of almost sexual assault, teaching the kids this kind of crap," she told CBC News. "On my part, I think the health nurse and the principal should have went through that book before it was even allowed in the school."

Parents voiced their concerns at a meeting held by the school on Tuesday.

The district said it plans to institute a thorough vetting process for third-party learning materials in the future.

Superintendent Perkins said the teacher and the principal are both remorseful.

"It's extremely important to have age-appropriate education. We don't want to get too far ahead of ourselves, but at the same time, we don't want to not inform kids. Of course, we don't want our kids going out and having STDs or getting pregnant," said Perkins.

"But there's certain ages and certain ways, methods in which to teach at different age levels, and I think that was the step that was missed here."

'Kids are resilient'

Teaching kids about the risk of sexually transmitted diseases are part of B.C. school's grade 6 and 7 physical health curriculum.

Sex educator Saleema Noon says children approaching high school should be learning that there are many different kinds of sex — but teachers should handle it with care.

"In grade 6 and 7, we really need to kick it up a notch," she said. "In a perfect world, preteens wouldn't be exposed to information ... that really is intended for adults."

In a halfways moral world preteens wouldn't be exposed to information ... that really is intended for adults. This was an error that should not have been made, and it seems highly unlikely that anyone will suffer for the incompetency except the children and their parents.

She says children are often exposed to more explicit content than parents might think thanks to the internet and social media, and it's important to have open and honest conversations with them.

"The good news is kids are pretty resilient, at that age especially," said Noon.

Stanford Sex Assault Convict Banned from USA Swimming for Life

Brock Turner, the Stanford swimmer who was sentenced to six months in jail after being convicted of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman outside a fraternity party in 2015, has been banned for life by USA Swimming, the national governing body for competitive swimming in the United States. 

USA Today reports that the 20-year-old is not currently a member of USA Swimming but had been prior to his membership expiring in 2014, and that the governing body said he would "not be eligible" should he apply again for membership. 

"Had he been a member, he would be subject to the USA Swimming Code of Conduct," USA Swimming spokesperson Scott Leightman told the news outlet. "USA Swimming strictly prohibits and has zero tolerance for sexual misconduct, with firm Code of Conduct policies in place, and severe penalties, including a permanent ban of membership, for those who violate our Code of Conduct." 

This decision, which I applaud, will help ameliorate the judges remarkably light sentence. It should send a message, which the judge failed to do, that rape has consequences for the rapist too.

Leightman also said that Turner was not a member of USA Swimming at the time of the assault in January 2015.

"Brock Turner's membership with USA Swimming expired at the end of the calendar year 2014," he wrote. "He was not a member at the time of his crime or since then. USA Swimming doesn't have any jurisdiction over non-members."

In a statement given to Judge Aaron Persky prior to his conviction, Turner lamented at the end of his swimming career, saying "I've lost my chance to swim in the Olympics."

"I wish I never was good at swimming or had the opportunity to attend Stanford," he added.

Don't blame it on the swimming or Stanford; you made the decision to rape an unconscious girl. You ought to wish that you had better morals.

Turner also blamed alcohol and the college drinking culture for his actions in his statement. "I made a mistake, I drank too much, and my decisions hurt someone," he wrote. "But I never ever meant to intentionally hurt [the victim]. My poor decision making and excessive drinking hurt someone that night and I wish I could just take it all back."

"Before this happened, I never had any trouble with law enforcement and I plan on maintaining that. I've been shattered by the party culture and risk taking behavior that I briefly experienced in my four months at school," the statement continues.

Turner's victim, who has chosen to remain anonymous, gained national attention when her 12-page victim impact statement went viral. In it, she addresses her assaulter's swimming scholarship.

"How fast Brock swims does not lessen the severity of what happened to me, and should not lessen the severity of his punishment," she wrote. "If a first time offender from an underprivileged background was accused of three felonies and displayed no accountability for his actions other than drinking, what would his sentence be? The fact that Brock was an athlete at a private university should not be seen as an entitlement to leniency, but as an opportunity to send a message that sexual assault is against the law regardless of social class." 

Turner admitted to the sexual contact but maintained it was consensual. Although prosecutors asked Turner be sentenced to six years in prison, he was given six months, with Judge Persky saying a longer sentence would have a "severe impact on him." He can be released in as little as three months. 

Well, '20 minutes of action' has already had a severe impact on his victim and probably will for many years to come. Men/boys in college don't seem to realize that rape is not only illegal, but that it is very damaging to the victim. Colleges don't seem to be selling this message. Colleges don't seem to be doing very much of anything to combat the culture of rape.

The ruling was met with outrage from those who thought it was too lenient. (Prosecutors had asked for a six years.) More than 1 million people have signed a Change.org petition asking for the removal of Judge Persky, who was given a new six-year judicial term on Tuesday. 

Many have also criticized Turner's father, Dan Turner, who penned a letter begging the judge for leniency for his son prior to sentencing.

"These verdicts have broken and shattered him and our family in so many ways." he wrote. "His life will never be the one he dreamed about and worked so hard to achieve. This is a steep price to pay for 20 minutes of action out of his 20 plus years of life."
