Policeman Sexually Abused Hundreds of Children and the City Enabled Him

Saint John, New Brunswick, Canada, police officer Sgt. Kenneth Estabrooks is suspected of sexually abusing at least 260 children over the course of nearly three decades, dating back to the 1950s.

In 1999, Estabrooks was convicted of indecent assault and sentenced to six years in prison. He died of cancer in 2005.

During the trial, a former police detective testified that in 1975, two kids complained Estabrooks had molested them.

That detective said Estabrooks confessed to these accusations—but instead of being charged, he was quietly moved to a city works job, the records show.

“Why was Estabrooks protected?” McKiggan asked in a telephone interview Monday. “Why was he allowed to move to a new job with the city rather than being criminally charged or fired? There’s a whole lot of questions here that need to be answered.”

One of the victims reported that Estabrooks had something on the Police Chief who protected him. He also admitted that the gay pedophile had raped him at least 40 times.

The alleged victim who first contacted McKiggan was angry Estabrooks would never be held accountable for his alleged actions, the lawyer said.

“But he feels, and I agree with him, that there are others who need to be held accountable for what happened and for allowing it to go on,” he said.

That alleged victim, now the representative plaintiff in the class action, has yet to speak publicly and won’t be named before the pleadings are filed, McKiggan said.

The lawyer said he and his colleagues are “putting the finishing touches on [the pleadings] as we speak,” and he expects to file it shortly.

The claim alleges vicarious liability for the police force and the city – a legal concept in which an employer is held responsible for acts of its employees – and direct liability by the police force and the city.

St John, New Brunswick, Canada
“In other words, that police force and city knew what Estabrooks was doing and failed to exercise reasonable care to prevent him from sexually abusing children,” McKiggan explained.

There will not be a specific dollar amount named in the lawsuit, McKiggan said, but with hundreds of alleged victims, he said he thinks it will climb high.

“Given the amount of people they believe were assaulted by Estabrooks, this lawsuit is going to involve millions of dollars.”

McKiggan has represented hundreds of abuse survivors in past cases.

He won compensation for some victims of notorious pedophile Karl Toft, who in 1992 received a 13-year sentence for sexually assaulting 18 boys when he worked at a youth training centre in New Brunswick.

“You’d think after all that time I’d be calloused, accustomed to the long-term effects of childhood abuse,” he said. “But it never ceases to shock you … when you see them later in life and many of them have had terrible struggles with substance abuse or alcohol abuse, are living on the edges of society, have become very marginalized.”

Bad Day for Pornographers in the UK

A man who made more than 11 hours of videos of child sex abuse available online has been jailed.

Lee West, 30, of South Methven Street, Perth, made the videos - featuring children as young - available to other users on a file sharing website.

Lee West

He was caught as part of Operation Alba conducted by the Scottish Crime and Drug Enforcement Agency.

Sheriff Fiona Tait jailed him for 15 months and placed him on the sex offenders register for ten years.

She also ordered that he be placed on supervision in the community for 12 months following his release from prison.

Fiscal depute Carol Whyte told Perth Sheriff Court: "Intelligence indicated that the accused was involved in file-sharing, downloading and accessing indecent images of children.

"A search warrant was executed and a number of items were recovered including a laptop.

"It was examined and they recovered 437 moving and still images depicting child abuse.

"There were video clips with a total running time of over 11 hours. They were from level two to level five. They showed girls aged from four to 17."

She said the computer showed that West had deliberately made the 21 videos available for sharing on the internet with other paedophiles.

Unemployed business administrator West admitted having indecent images at his home between 6 and 29 March last year.

He also admitted having the images and videos with a view to them being distributed or shown by him or others during the same time period.

Solicitor Gary Thompson, defending, said: "He did not make any active effort to distribute them, but he is aware of the way a bit torrent site works in that they may be shared."

A nurse has been charged with a number of child sex offences and trying to poison someone.

Dale Bolinger, 57, formerly of Canterbury in Kent, was accused of 11 offences in total relating to his alleged internet activity.

Kent Police were alerted by the FBI following an investigation in the US.

The alleged offences occurred between 2010 and 21 February this year. Mr Bolinger was bailed to face Canterbury magistrates on 8 November.

He was arrested on 21 February and has been charged with one count of attempting to administer poison to someone, two counts of possessing an indecent photograph of a child, one count of attempting to meet a girl under 16 following sexual grooming and seven counts of publishing an obscene article.

"The charges follow an extensive Kent Police investigation into alleged conspiracy offences in both the UK and the US," a police spokeswoman said.

Canada Raises Child Sex Abuse Issue at the UN

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird used Canada's turn at the podium before the United Nations General Assembly Monday to speak out on sexual violence against women and girls, including forced marriage and systemic rape.

This is a big deal that the issue of child sex abuse was raised at the UN General Assembly. Did it happen because of our prayers? Is it possible that Baird or Prime Minister Harper checked out my blog? I did put the address on a couple of  replies to tweets from the PM, so it's at least possible. It's unfortunate that there were few countries that actually listened to his speech, but it's progress. Thank God! Keep praying, please.

"Forced marriage is rape, it is violence against women. Early marriage is child rape, and violence against young girls."

He was especially blunt about forced marriage, saying, " We condemn it. Even though some might prefer that we kept quiet," without naming any countries who wish for silence on the topic.

Baird drew attention to Canada's Muskoka initiative to improve women and children's health, in advocating for greater participation by women to help "build a stronger, more secure, more prosperous and more peaceful world."

'Our business is a shared humanity. Our interest is the dignity of humankind.'

Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird

He pointed out, "Another way to protect the vulnerable is to improve the health of mothers, newborns and children so that we can reduce the number of deaths," without mentioning access to contraception.

Baird also denounced "the crime of terror" and paid tribute to a Canadian diplomat killed in an attack on a shopping mall in Kenya last week as he addressed the United Nations General Assembly Monday morning.

Annemarie Desloges, 29, was one of two Canadians who died in the attack by al-Qaeda-linked Somali fighters on the Westgate shopping mall in Nairobi. Vancouver-area businessman Naguib Damji also died in the attack.

In a multi-topic speech that included references to the ancient poet Homer and philosopher Cicero, as well as to a three-handled cup used 1,000 years ago in the part of Canada that became Newfoundland and Labrador, Baird made the "oneness of humankind" the theme of his address at the start of the second week of the world body's opening session. He noted that the United Nations' charter begins with the words, "We the peoples."

"Not, 'We the countries," or "we the governments.'" Baird said. "Not 'we the political leaders. We the peoples.'"

"Canada’s government doesn’t seek to have our values or our principled foreign policy validated by elites who would rather 'go along to get along,'" Baird said, echoing words he has used before.

And he seemed to defend Canada's recent criticism of events in events countries, including Russia's anti-gay propaganda law and the treatment of religious minorities in some Muslim countries, saying it is impossible to protect some human rights and freedoms while infringing others.

"All freedoms are rooted in the inherent dignity of human beings. Whether the issue is religious freedom, sexual freedom, political freedom or any other freedom, some people ask: What business is it of ours? What interest do we have in events outside our borders?

"Our business is a shared humanity. Our interest is the dignity of humankind," Baird said.

The wide-ranging speech, delivered to a largely empty assembly hall, also touched on Canada's participation in trade talks, on Syria and Iran and on peace negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority.

Two of Telford Seven Appealing Convictions of Rape, and Trafficking Children

Last year, seven men, all of whom happened to be Islamic, were convicted and jailed as a result of police Operation Chalice. The group had groomed young teens in the Telford, UK, area for prostitution. The worst sentences were handed to the two lovely looking brothers in the picture. Today, they announced that they are appealing their convictions. Please pray the 3:15 PM prayer and pray that God keeps creeps like these off the streets for as long as possible.

From BBC:
Two brothers from Telford who were jailed for a string of sexual offences against children have lodged appeals.

Ahdel Ali, 26, was sentenced to 18 years in October on charges including rape, sexual activity with a child and controlling child prostitution.

His brother Mubarek Ali, 30, was jailed for 14 years for controlling child prostitution and trafficking.

The Court of Appeal confirmed lawyers representing the men had appealed against the convictions and sentences.

The brothers, formerly both of Regent Street, Wellington, were convicted in August 2012.

A jury at Stafford Crown Court heard the brothers had sexually abused, trafficked, prostituted or tried to prostitute four Telford teenagers between March 2008 and December 2009.

During sentencing, at Worcester Crown Court in October, judge Patrick Thomas QC said their motives were "squalid, demeaning and selfish".

They were among seven men jailed as part of West Mercia Police's Operation Chalice.

The brothers had denied all charges. A date has yet to be set for the appeal hearing.

Ahdel Ali was found guilty of one charge of rape, 11 charges of sexual activity with a child, three charges of controlling child prostitution, one of inciting child prostitution, an allegation of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and meeting a child after grooming.

Mubarek Ali was convicted of four charges of controlling child prostitution, two of trafficking in the UK for sexual exploitation and a charge of causing child prostitution.

China rescues scores of kidnapped children as government flags tougher penalties for trafficking

In 2011, police said they had rescued more than 13,000 abducted children and 23,000 women over the past two years or so. (Reuters: Bobby Yip, file photo)

Chinese police have rescued 92 children and two women kidnapped by a gang for sale and arrested 301 suspects, state media said, in one of the biggest busts of its kind in years.

Police simultaneously swooped on locations in 11 provinces on September 11 after a six-month investigation, China Central Television and state news agency Xinhua said, quoting the Ministry of Public Security.

No reason was given for the delay in reporting the operation.

State media did not give a breakdown of how many boys and how many girls were kidnapped.

A traditional preference for boys, especially in rural areas, and a strict one-child policy have contributed to a rise in the trafficking of children and women in recent years.

Kidnapped women are sold to men in remote areas who are unable to find brides due to a sex imbalance resulting from the draconian one-child policy, which has also encouraged sex-selective abortions.

The government would impose harsher punishment on people who buy kidnapped children, state television said.

Xinhua said the government would also punish parents who sell their children.

China has trumpeted the success of an intensified crackdown on the kidnapping and sale of children and women recently. In 2011, police said they had rescued more than 13,000 abducted children and 23,000 women over the past two years or so.

A UN committee is scheduled to issue on October 4 its findings on China's implementation of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, which Beijing ratified in 1992.

61-year-old Edmonton Man has been Arrested for Repeatedly Molesting a Six-year-old Girl

Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

William John Brons, who also goes by the first name Jack, was arrested Tuesday and taken into police custody.

He is facing a number of sex-related offenses, including sexual interference, sexual assault, invitation to sexual touching, providing sexual explicit material to a child, making child pornography and possessing child pornography.

Further charges are pending, say police.

Detective Richard Walton said police began their investigation on the weekend after the little girl spoke with her parents about the alleged assaults.

The parents did the right thing – they believed her. They listened to her and called the police,” said Walton. “They didn't do any further questioning.  We were then contacted and we assumed responsibility for the investigation.”

Walton said it has been a “challenging investigation” as the alleged assaults took place between late August and mid-September and spanned several different locations, including Edson, Calmar and Edmonton.

Edmonton police say there may still be more victims.

Brons, who was not previously known to police, will make his next court appearance on October 3.

Child Sex Trafficking in Vancouver

A glamorous lifestyle of drugs and booze, the chance to live in downtown Vancouver and the companionship of a pet dog were all promises used by a Vancouver man to lure 11 teenagers into prostitution, a B.C. Supreme Court trial heard Wednesday.

Crown lawyer Damienne Darby told the court that 29-year-old Reza Moazami allegedly preyed on girls as young as 14 years old, convincing them to have sex for money between February 2009 and October 2011.

Vancouver, British Columbia
"These were so-called at-risk girls and he recruited them for prostitution for his own financial benefit," Darby said in her opening statement.

"While there were some differences in his approach and dealings with respect to the individual complainants, there were common themes. The evidence will show that each girl had their own particular vulnerabilities ... and he exploited these vulnerabilities for the purposes of profit."

Moazami is facing 36 counts, including human trafficking, living on the avails of a juvenile, sexual assault and sexual interference.

Darby also outlined the testimony that the court is expected to hear over the next few months from the 11 victims, who cannot be named under a publication ban.

One teenager allegedly began working for Moazami when she was 16, said Darby. The court heard the girl became addicted to crack cocaine when she was 12, and sold the drug for her father. She did not have a permanent home, and would stay with her mother at times, or couch surf.

Through an acquaintance, who told her that he knew a way for her to make a lot of money, the girl allegedly met Moazami in January 2011 at a downtown Vancouver shopping mall food court, "where they discussed her becoming a prostitute," Darby said.

"She told him she was 16 at that first meeting, that she had no experience, she didn't know what to do," Darby told the court. "Within two weeks, he contacted her and told her that her place was ready."

Darby said the girl was allegedly taken to a downtown Vancouver condo, and was given a cell phone and "considerable quantities of drugs," including opium and marijuana. Moazami allegedly took photos of her and posted them on escort ads.

Even though the girl was "living in this great place," she felt lonely and isolated, and became very attached to a Chihuahua that Moazami brought over, Darby said.

Moazami, who Darby alleged became increasingly controlling, would use the dog to ensure the girl's compliance.

The girl never got any of the money that she earned because Moazami held onto the cash, even though they had agreed to split the money. When the two had a heated argument about the cash, Moazami assaulted the girl, court heard.

"In the course of that argument, she will testify he threw her in a bathtub, turned the shower on, held the shower rod down and was jabbing her with it, such that neighbours heard and called the police," Darby said.

Moazami arrested in October 2011

Justice Catherine Bruce, who is hearing the case without a jury, heard that other girls, all under the age of 18, were allegedly recruited by Moazami in similar fashion.

At times, Moazami allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted some of the young women, and he also allegedly attacked them when they disobeyed him, Darby said.

Some of the girls made tens of thousands of dollars for Moazami, but while some were given part of their earnings, and could come and go as they please, others did not receive a penny and were not allowed to go anywhere without Moazami's permission, Darby alleged.

Some of the young girls even travelled from Vancouver to Calgary with Moazami during the Calgary Stampede, where a lot of money from prostitution was expected to be made, said Darby.

Moazami was arrested in October 2011 in a South Vancouver home, where the prostitution ring is alleged to have operated, and where two young women were also found and taken into care.

He was released on bail, but was later charged with breach of a court order and obstruction of justice after allegedly having contact, through others, with one of the possible victims.

Ex-Pope Benedict Denies Abuse Cover-up

The former Pope, Benedict XVI, has denied any role in covering up child sex abuse by priests, in his first public comments since retirement.

The emeritus Pope, as he is now known, addressed the issue in a detailed letter to a prominent atheist, which also covered many other matters.

It is thought to be the first time that Benedict has publicly rejected personal responsibility for covering up abuse.

Some critics say he must have known of efforts to protect abusive priests.

Benedict's letter, to the professor of mathematics Piergiorgio Odifreddi, was published in La Repubblica newspaper after the professor sought the former Pope's permission.

His comments are the first to be released publicly since he left office, saying he would retreat to a life of prayer. He was apparently concerned not to have a public role that might impinge on his successor, Pope Francis.

'Source of suffering'
Regarding the repeated allegations of abuse which arose during his pontificate, Benedict denied he had suppressed investigation of paedophile priests.

And, while admitting the horror of abuse, he insisted priests had no greater tendency to paedophilia than anyone else. Yeah, and I have some farmland in the middle of the Sahara desert for sale.

He wrote: "I never tried to cover up these things. That the power of evil penetrates to such a point in the interior world of the faith is, for us, a source of suffering.

"On the one hand we must accept that suffering, and on the other, at the same time, we must do everything possible so that such cases aren't repeated. Does everything possible include enabling priests to continue with their paedophilia unabated?

"It's also not a motive for comfort to know that, according to sociological research, the percentage of priests guilty of these crimes is no higher than in other comparable professional categories. Is this an indication of an attitude of denial at the Vatican? Are they refusing to recognize the enormity of the problem within the church? Or are they being deceived? I would love to see an independent study on the percentage of paedophilic priests compared to other professions.

"In any event, one must not stubbornly present this deviance as if it were a nastiness specific to Catholicism."
No, it is not specific to the Catholic Church but it is certainly far more prevalent.

Did senior Catholic clerics hush up sex abuse allegations?

They didn't just hush up the allegations, by moving pedophile priests around they were 'enablers' in their crimes. It's so disappointing that these senior officials have not been charged with several different crimes. The particular Archbishop in this piece is now a Cardinal in good standing. The video clip is an excellent expose of the attitudes involved in institutional sex abuse. The France24 news report was made in March of this year. Click on the link below to watch the report.

A sex abuse scandal is shaking up the Los Angeles Catholic Archdiocese. A California court has ordered it to release thousands of pages of confidential files, revealing galling details of high-ranking clerics shielding priests from prosecution over sex crimes. The files echo recurring themes that have emerged over the past decade in dioceses nationwide, where church leaders moved problem priests between parishes and failed to notify authorities.

An ex-FBI Agent Guilty of Leaking Information About an al-Qaeda Bomb Plot and Child Pornography

Donald Sachtleben, 55, is to be sentenced to 12 years in prison.

The May 2012 disclosures jeopardized an international intelligence operation and put lives at risk, officials said.

Investigators identified him after seizing phone records of the Associated Press, which published an article on the Yemen-based al-Qaeda plot

On 2 May 2012, he disclosed secret information to a reporter, according to a court document he signed.

Nine days later he was arrested on separate charges of trading images of child pornography online, having been identified during an investigation into another man accused of possession of child pornography.

An FBI search of Sachtleben's computer, seized in the child pornography investigation, revealed improperly stored secret documents, according to court records.

On Monday, Sachtleben pleaded guilty to unauthorised disclosure of national defence information, unauthorised possession and retention of national defence information, and two charges of distributing and possessing child pornography.

The plea agreement calls for him to be sentenced to a total of 140 months in prison - 43 for the national security offenses and 97 for the child pornography charges.

Vancouver Olympics CEO Being Sued for Child Sex Abuse

The two women filed a civil claim against Furlong in July, seeking compensation for the abuse and alleging defamation after he suggested at a press conference in September of last year that unnamed people were lying in an attempt to extort him.

Former VANOC CEO John Furlong has filed a statement of defence in B.C. Supreme Court denying allegations that he sexually and physically abused two female students at a Burns Lake elementary school in the late 1960s and 1970s.

Former VANOC CEO John Furlong has denied abusing two former students at a Burns Lake elementary school in a statement of defence filed in B.C. Supreme Court today.

Grace West and Beverly Abraham both claim to have been sexually and physically abused by Furlong while he was a physical education teacher in the Burns Lake area in late 1960s and early 1970s.

In court documents filed Monday in the two cases, Furlong said he doesn't recall if he taught West and Abraham during his time as a volunteer teacher at the Catholic school in northern British Columbia more than four decades ago.

"The defendant denied that he sexually molested or physically abused or engaged in any inappropriate conduct in respect of the plaintiff," said two identical statements of defence filed in B.C. Supreme Court.

The two women filed civil claims in the summer against Furlong and against the Roman Catholic Archdiocese after allegations of physical abuse surfaced earlier this year against Furlong in connection to his time teaching physical education to First Nations students at Immaculata School.

West, 53, alleges Furlong kicked her in the buttocks almost every day, as well as in the legs and back, always when nobody was around to witness the abuse. She said he called her names, including "dirty Indian," and sexually molested her in a change room after gym class approximately once a week.

In her statement of claim, West said she told her father, who confronted Furlong and removed her from the school. West said other parents also went to the diocese with complaints, which failed to act.

Abraham's statement of claim said she was 11 years old when sexual abuse by Furlong began. Abraham, now 55, said Furlong also asked nuns working at the school to physically punish her by having her kneel on the floor while they struck her open palms repeatedly.

The women are also seeking compensation in their civil claims for defamation over Furlong's suggestion at a news conference that unnamed persons had threatened to make accusations in order to extort him.

In the court documents filed Monday, Furlong said it was the plaintiffs themselves who made their identities public. "The plaintiff self-published the false allegations that she had been sexually or otherwise abused by the defendant," it said. "If the plaintiff has suffered loss, damage and expense ... it was caused by the plaintiff's self-publication of the false allegations...."

Furlong maintains that his statements at the press conference were truthful.

The allegations against Furlong surfaced in an article in the weekly Georgia Straight newspaper last fall, which suggested Furlong lied about his past at the Catholic school and physically and verbally abused First Nations students there. Furlong did not mention his time as a Catholic school teacher in Burns Lake or Prince George, B.C., in his memoir "Patriot Hearts."

The man who was the face of the 2010 Olympic Games and is now the executive chairman of the Vancouver Whitecaps FC vehemently denied the allegations, and launched his own defamation lawsuits against the newspaper and journalist Laura Robinson.

Robinson made a new round of allegations in her statement of defence, including accusations that Furlong sexually assaulted a former common-law spouse.

Another former student also came forward today, filing a lawsuit in B.C. Supreme Court that alleges he, too, was abused by John Furlong.

None of the claims have been proven in court.

100,000 Children Trafficked in Sexual Slavery in Philippines Because of Corruption

Excellent opinion piece from Fr Shay Cullen of the Preda Foundation in Manila from the Manila Times:

It’s a happy day when we can save children from abusers, illegal detention, brothels, or from the clutches of traffickers, sex tourists or child porn makers. We at the Preda Foundation do that a lot but why is it so necessary in a so-called Catholic civilized country under the rule of law? And how long and how many thousands more children will suffer sexual abuse until the law is implemented and church leaders will act in a prophetic decisive way?

Fr Shay Cullen
In a nation like the Philippines where corruption and poverty are so prevalent, pervasive and self-perpetrating, it is not surprising to see children suffering misery and abuse in illegal detention cells or thousands of minors trafficked and sold as sex slaves to foreign sex tourists with the nods and winks and sex bar permits of politicians who are supposed to protect them.

The billions of pesos taken from the people through taxes by the ruling class are shamelessly plundered by politicians and their corruption-crazed cronies. As it was in the past, so it is today, the lawmakers become the lawbreakers and it is the children who suffer most and the many victims of endless floods, landslides, and destruction.

The laws granting huge sums of public money to corrupt politicians for development and poverty alleviation have been diverted to their personal accounts and they will never abolish it and it pays for their re-election. It is a corrupt practice that began under the Marcos dictatorship, an evil that Ninoy Aquino 2nd, the assassinated father of President Noynoy Aquino 3rd, wanted to stop but died in the attempt with a bullet to the head.

President Noynoy Aquino 3rd could abolish it by a Presidential Decree or Executive Order, since the release of the funds needs his approval. That would be the greatest honor the son could give to his deceased father and mother; an act of justice for the people, who cry out against the plunder of the public purse by parasitic politicians causing suffering to the poor.

I see the effects of this plunder every time I visit a jail or a slum or walk the streets of the sex industry where the children and women are bought and sold. If only they had good schools, their parents had jobs with fair wages, the rule of law reigned, good governance by clean politicians existed, what a greater nation this could be. Its people are great already by enduring so much injustice and hardship but can it not be brought to an end?

In Metro Manila on a regular jail visit, I found two small girls 12 and 13 years old locked up for months close to half naked adult male prisoners reaching to touch them. They were in an exposed cell, no beds, no privacy or change of clothes or even a bar of soap with only a bucket for a toilet. We got them released to safety and discovered they had been raped in the jail.

We also found Jamie, 12 years old boy, frightened and depressed. He was terrified of what the pedophile prisoners might to do him as darkness fell. He feared what the police might do to him if he did not confess to a crime he did not commit. And what they would do if he did confess? He should have been in a municipal youth home but there is none in his town since the politicians stole the money. So Preda social workers got Jamie and a few others released from jail that day and transferred them to the Preda Home for Children for which funds are constantly needed as most funding agencies, charities, and government ignore these victims.

The children should never be imprisoned. It’s illegal but the law is not respected that is why we campaign to change the social, religious, and political system. They tend to ignore child abuse and human trafficking. Luis Antonio Cardinal Tagle, Archbishop of Manila has spoken strongly against the plundering of public funds.

He is a prophetic voice in a moral wilderness, raging against the gates of hell. Soon he will follow the example of Pope Francis and will visit the juvenile jails and wash their feet with his tears. He will walk the streets lined with brothels, and like Jesus of Nazareth, see and have compassion on the women and children forced into prostitution and abortions. His message will inspire the faithful to rise up and put their faith into action for justice, freedom and the rule of law.

If he visited the children’s home, the Cardinal would be shocked to learn that as many as 100,000 children are trafficked into sexual slavery yearly and he would help Rebecca, 14, with a mental age of 6 years old. He would be shocked by her story.

She was sold to a 28 years old man as his live-in sex slave approved by her mother and local officials as a form of marriage. At first, a prosecutor in Bulacan said that the child and the 28 years old man were “in love” and there could be no crime of child abuse. But upon protest and appeal by the Preda paralegal officer, the provincial prosecutor Renato Samonte Jr., reversed that wrong decision and ordered charges of rape in connection with RA 7610 be filed before the court.

The plunder, wheeling, and dealing over the lives and bodies of women and children have to be stopped by the good people rallying and demanding justice, and uncompromising and strict implementation of the rule of law. We should pray a lot too. Amen to that. Let's join Fr Cullen in praying for Preda and for the children of the Phillipines.

Victims Sue Chilean Archbishop over Sexual Abuse by Ex-priest

Another small beginning in getting institutions to take responsibility for the indecencies committed by their personnel, in the hope that the policy of silence will become too expensive to keep.

From SantiagoTimes.cl

The three victims of sexual abuse by ex-priest Fernando Karadima have filed a civil suit against the Archbishop of Santiago, calling for the Church to assume responsibility.

The three men who were sexually abused between 1955 and 1980 by Fernando Karadima of the El Bosque Parish in Las Condes, Santiago, have filed a suit against Archbishop of Santiago Ricardo Ezzati demanding economic compensation for the crimes committed against them.

The men in question are Dr. James Hamilton, journalist Juan Carlos Cruz and philosopher José Andrés Murillo and are represented by lawyer Juan Pablo Hermosilla. They say that the suit is directed towards the archbishop in an attempt to make the Church assume responsibility as an institution that acted negligently during the cases that were brought forward against Karadima.

“We’re trying to break the cornerstone of sexual abuse — silence — and this is done through what we are doing now,” José Murillo told Radio Universidad de Chile. "Every time there is abuse there is damage done, and if the abuse was committed by someone who belongs to an institution ... there is an institutional responsibility, and we want this to be established.”

The three victims claim that initial reports of abuse were dismissed by the Church, with the case finally being opened in 2004 when some of El Bosque’s parishioners and ex-priests presented a formal accusation against Karadima.

Brazil Breaks Child Pornography Ring

This is more fallout from the exposing of the darknet. See "A Little Light Shines into the Darknet" in the August archive, for more info.

France to Ban 'Sexualised' Child Beauty Pageants?

From FRANCE 24

The French Senate voted early Wednesday to ban beauty pageants for children under 16 – and to impose up to two years in prison and steep fines for adults who try to enter children into such a contest.

It looks like the French won’t be getting their version of “Little Miss Sunshine” or “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” anytime soon.

France’s Senate voted early Wednesday to ban beauty pageants for children under 16, and to punish any adult who tries to enter a child into such a contest with up to two years in prison and a steep 30,000-euro fine.

The amendment is part of a broader bill on women’s rights, which will now proceed to the National Assembly, French Parliament’s lower house, for debate and another vote.

The senators who voted in favour of the measure argue that it will protect children from being prematurely “sexualised” through the use of heavy make-up and often provocative attire.

The amendment was prompted by a a parliamentary report entitled “Against Hyper-Sexualisation: A New Fight For Equality”, which, in addition to calling for an end to the pageants, encouraged a ban on adult-style clothing for children, including padded bras and high-heeled shoes.

“Let us not make our girls believe from a very young age that their worth is based only on their appearance,” the author of the report, former sports minister and current senator Chantal Jouanno, said in an interview with free French daily “20 Minutes” last year.

Paris’s 'Mini-Miss' pageant…in Belgium?

Controversy surrounding the issue peaked in December 2010, when French Vogue published a photo spread featuring images of a 10-year-old French girl, Thylane Loubry Blondeau, decked out in a tight dress, jewellery, high heels and make-up.

The magazine argued that the photos were meant to capture a classic fantasy of young girls – to dress up like their mother.

But the images sparked outrage both at home and abroad.

If the bill is signed into law, as expected, pageants like the annual “Mini-Miss” contest in Paris will no longer take place.

The pageant’s creator, Michel Le Parmentier, has protested the amendment, saying that regulations, rather than an across-the-board ban, would be more appropriate.

Le Parmentier has said that if the law is passed, he might move his pageant to Belgium – but close to the French border, in order to accommodate French contestants who want to compete without having to worry about legal consequences.

Personally, I think this is a great idea and hope and pray that the Lower House supports it. What do you think?

Historic Royal Commission into Institutional Child Sex Abuse Begins in Australia

While this commission is restricted to institutional child sex abuse, it is an excellent start that may eventually have repercussions around the world for those who would rather cover up sex abuse than have their institution's name muddied. Which, enables paedophiles to move about finding new victims without consequence. Although consequences will come when they stand before God, more expeditious consequences would save children. Please pray for the success of this commission.

SYDNEY, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Among the opening revelations in the historic Sydney hearing of a Royal Commission into child sexual abuse on Monday, is the systematic failure of child protection here, with the commission already providing a damning insight into Australia's institutional response.

The first hearings have focused on the predatory scout leader, Steven Larkins, who was first investigated by Australian police for child sexual abuse more than 13 years before he was eventually jailed. However one of his victims told the commission that police incorrectly warned the victim of the unlikelihood of prosecution. See Boy Scouts in Australia enable Paedophile, below.

Australia's Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse is examining how organizations processed allegations of abuse from predators such as Larkins who was head of an institution for children for almost 20 years after the Scouts had been warned about him in the mid-1990's.

The long-awaited commission has only materialized after a damning open letter in November last year from a leading detective, promoting Australian state Premier Barry O'Farrell to launch a Special Commission of Inquiry into the child abuse allegedly rife within the Australian Catholic Church.

Olivia Monaghan from the University of Melbourne said that while the commission and its wide ranging scope for inquiry is to be welcomed, there are holes within the fabric that victims will fall through. "The high rate of suicide amongst victims of child sex assault needs to also be recognized, and the experiences of their families should not be forgotten. They too deserve support." She said.

One of the challenges facing the inquiry will be the sheer scope and breadth of victims coming forward, with reports that the commission has had up to 5,000 points of contact from Australians claiming to have suffered child sexual abuse during extended contact with Australian institutions including hallowed exemplars of society from the Catholic and Anglican churches, to the Scout movement and beyond.

The legacy of institutional child abuse first made headlines in 2012 after allegations of a cover up within the priesthood of the Catholic Church in the Hunter region outside Sydney, came to light through an explosive public letter appeared to shame officials into action.

"These matters have been raised by a senior serving officer, and deserve to be fully investigated," the New South Wales premier Barry O'Farrell, told journalists.

The inquiry was sparked by allegations of cover-ups and church interference in police investigations, which were highlighted in the open letter by then Detective Chief Inspector Peter Fox.

Fox wrote "I have investigated so many sexual assaults in my 35 years of policing I've lost count.” "Having spent most of those years at the coal-face I have seen the worst society can dredge up, particularly the evil of peadophilia within the Catholic Church," He continued.

Inspector Fox wrote that victims of child abuse in the Catholic Church are "coming forward in ever-increasing numbers but they need our support".

Fast-forward almost one year and only now are Australians bracing themselves for what are certain to be painful and disturbing revelations. Revelations that are to put a very human face to the toll of institutionalized child abuse over a long period.

Larkins was never pursued for the alleged abuse and even went on to work for the scouts showering, writing love notes and continuing abuse of children - before moving into an organization for Aboriginal children in the Hunter region. He was finally arrested in 2011 and jailed in 2012.

At the time of the initial whistle-blowing, Detective Fox wrote of his frustration and disgust with institutional responses to child abuse. Justice Peter McClellan, leading the commission, has indicated that he expects many Australians will be shocked at the extent of the abuse.

Fox is now leading community calls for action. "Removing the support that harbors these criminals is like cutting the head from the beast. It tears down the veil of secrecy behind which these vile animals operate with the self-assurance of immunity," He said.

Can L.A. School District Survive Child Sex Abuse Lawsuits?

Lawsuit Alleges Los Angeles Teacher Sexually Abused Up to 15 Children

The teacher was removed from El Sereno Elementary School in 2010 after allegations that he inappropriately touched students.

A former Los Angeles Unified School District teacher accused of molesting students is denying the allegations laid out in a new lawsuit against the school district.

"I would love to say things. All I can tell you is those allegations are not true," Armando Gonzalez told NBC4's John Cádiz Klemack in an exclusive interview on Thursday.

A lawsuit filed against the LAUSD on Wednesday alleges the former El Sereno Elementary School teacher may have sexually abused as many as 15 children.

Three former students said their teacher inappropriately touched them and kissed one of the girls on the lips between 2008 and 2010. The lawsuit also claims another student reported abuse in 2007 by the same teacher, but was ignored by the district.

"My belief is one of the kids came forward in 2007, but was ignored," said Carrillo, who also represents families involved in the Miramonte Elementary School sexual abuse lawsuits.* "Then, he continued to do his abuse, which is the same pattern as Miramonte."

There might be as many as 15 victims, a number that attorney Luis Carrillo told the Los Angeles Times was based on information provided by the school district to parents. The families contacted his office when the girls were asked to testify at an LAUSD administrative hearing, according to Carrillo.

The three girls ranged in age from 8 to 10 years old at the time of the abuse.

*New Lawsuits Filed Against LAUSD on Behalf of Miramonte Students.

The school district also faces 189 claims over alleged abuse at the campus in Florence-Firestone. The abuse involves 126 students and includes long time teacher, Mark Berndt, being accused of blindfolding students and feeding them semen-laced cookies, among other alleged crimes.

Love not Allowed, but Brutal Murder is OK in Rural India

A young couple who were planning to marry were brutally murdered in the Indian state of Haryana on Wednesday. Police are treating the case as an "honour crime". The BBC's Zubair Ahmed visited the village in Rohtak district where the incident took place.
There were about two dozen grim-faced people - all men - waiting at the village cremation ground for the body of a young woman who was beaten to death allegedly by the same waiting crowd.

An hour ago, just before I reached the village, the same group had lit the pyre of the woman's boyfriend.

He was murdered, allegedly by the same people, and police officers said his "hands were cut off, legs chopped off and head severed from the body".

And soon, the two pyres were burning side-by-side. The woman and the man's families together attending the last rites of the murdered couple.

Dharmender Barak, 23, and Nidhi Barak, 20, were allegedly killed by members of Nidhi's family in Garnauthi village in the northern state of Haryana on Wednesday evening.

First, Nidhi was beaten to death and then Dharmender was dismembered alive.

No remorse
Nidhi's parents and an uncle have been arrested. A fourth villager - a driver - has also been held. Police say they are treating the double murder as an "honour crime".

Nidhi's mother is among the four people arrested for the murders.

At the funeral on Thursday, I was searching for remorse or guilt on the faces of the men present at the cremation ground, but there was none forthcoming.

"Who wants to kill their own children? But whatever God wanted, happened," said a relative of Nidhi.
Really? Not the God I know!

A man who identified himself as Nidhi's uncle looked dazed, or even bewildered.

When I asked him to explain why two young people were so brutally murdered, his eyes quickly filled with anger and his reply met with approving nods: "What was done to them was the right thing to do. We had to set an example."

An example for other young men and women to not fall in love.

Rural-urban divide
"Our culture is not like you have in the city. Here our women live behind curtains," said a young man in the crowd.

"The village doesn't approve of love affairs here. They were from the same caste, lived in the same lane in the same village," said another.

The man and the woman belonged to the same Jat community and shared the same gotra - the sub-caste - which made them brother and sister, he explained politely.

I took a round of the village to explore if anyone had differing views. I found none. The neighbouring villages too approved of the killings.

Let me see. They have a god who approves of murder but forbids love. I think they need a new god, maybe the real One.

Rohtak villagers
The villagers say they do not approve of love affairs
They all said they would not allow young men and women to fall in love as this would "dilute their values".

Some spoke of the "decadent western" culture of urban India and how it conflicted with the old, traditional values of rural India where falling in love is taboo.

There are no authentic figures of honour killings in India but such occurrences are not uncommon. Experts say they are not as frequent as in Pakistan and Afghanistan, but they do happen in northern India.

While driving back to Delhi, I saw a young couple riding a motorcycle on the city's wide road.

The woman was holding on to the man firmly. No one even noticed them. But this would amount to an outrageous act in the village where Dharmender and Nidhi were murdered.

The distance between Delhi and the village is less than 100km (62 miles). But the chasm in values and mindset is much deeper.

Girl, 16, Faces Child Porn Charge for Texting Nude Photo of Another Girl

The trial of a Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, teen who is facing child pornography charges for allegedly texting a nude picture of another girl without her consent will go ahead before a constitutional challenge, a judge has ruled.

The 16-year-old Saanich girl is facing charges of possession and distribution of child pornography and uttering threats after she allegedly distributed nude pictures of her boyfriend's ex-girlfriend.

Today, a provincial court judge ruled the trial will go ahead this fall, before a related constitutional challenge to the child pornography law will be heard.

Victoria, British Columbia
The teen's lawyer Christopher Mackie says they are launching a constitutional challenge against Canada's child pornography laws as they apply to people under age, claiming the charges amount to age discrimination.

"Originally, those provisions were created in order to protect children, so is it appropriate to use those provisions now to prosecute children?" Mackie said earlier this week.

Canada's laws, like every other country is hard pressed to Rehteah Parsons (see: Bad day for Pornographers, Perverts, and Pugnacious Barristers, below). It took nearly 3 years and intervention by the Prime Minister before police charged the boys who allegedly raped her, took pictures of it and posted them on the internet. Parsons committed suicide.

Act of a bully?

But Saanich police Sgt. Steve Eassie said this was an act of bullying.

"This, it appears, was part of harassment or threatening behaviour on the part of the accused."

Stephanie Owen, of the Children of the Street Society, agreed, based on the allegations and the growing problem of online bullying, that the charges are appropriate.

"We're really trying to raise awareness about really thinking about what you put online."

But the mother of the accused said no one else involved in the case faces any charges and she believes the whole situation should have been dealt with outside of the legal system.

She said her daughter is not a pornographer or a pedophile and the law does not fit the alleged crime.

"They should have all been, suffered the same consequences, if you want to say … but also, they should all been offered the same counselling, they should have been offered the same education as far as the negative effects that this can have on them. Everybody's a loser here, really," said the girl's mother.

Perhaps she's right. But perhaps it should have been handled before it ever got to the bullying level.

She said her daughter has been singled out and forced to transfer schools.

Nobody involved in the case can be named, in order to protect the identity of the minors involved.

No Sex Ed for Russian Schools

Presidential children's rights advocate Pavel Astakhov says he opposes the introduction of sex education in schools adding that Russian literature can fill the gap and answer all the possible questions.

" The Best Sex Education there is, in Fact, is Russian Literature and Literature in General , "Astakhov Told the Rossiya-24 News Channel.   " Children Should Read more. Everything is there, all about love and about relationships between sexes. School must Raise Children in chastity and with Understanding of Family values , "he added.

Astakhov told the audience how he warned the Ministry for Science and Education against introducing sex education lessons into Russian schools. " I am very Glad That the Ministry Abandoned Because this idea Today IT is very Dangerous to let any of this kind Specialists Anywhere near Children , "he Noted.

At the same time, the ombudsman said he was not against the lessons of ethics and psychology of family life, similar to those that existed in Soviet schools. Astakhov suggested that these courses are revived.

The ombudsman was asked how and when parents should tell their children about homosexuality. He answered that this was the decision that every parent should take personally.

" Of course, Children must be Prepared for this. All parents must Ask Themselves - We are Ready to Tell Our Children About What exists in Neighboring Countries, We are Ready to explain this and We are Ready to Support IT in some Way , "Astakhov elaborated.

The question was apparently prompted by the recently passed law that bans all promotion of non-traditional sex relations to minors. Critics of the act have noted that in its current form it effectively outlaws any mentioning of LGBT relationships that can be heard or otherwise learned by those underage, including talking between parents and children.

Supporters of the IT Law Suggested That Should be taken further and Gay parents Should be Stripped of Parental Rights as Their Lifestyle can be Considered the Promotion of Their ideas.

Legislators have not yet considered this move.

Boy Scouts in Australia Enable Paedophile

Story from ABC, Australian Broadcasting Corp.

Paedophile's former colleague didn't believe child sexual abuse rumours, royal commission hears.

A former caseworker has told the royal commission into child sexual abuse that a child welfare agency was poorly staffed and she was given little training.

Former Hunter Aboriginal Children's Service (HACS) staff member Jacqualine Henderson today told the inquiry she had no prior experience as a caseworker with children when she went to work for the organisation in 1998.

Nevertheless she was put in charge of up to 12 children at a time.

Ms Henderson said she was not made aware of all the policies and procedures of HACS and sought advice from Department of Community Services (DOCS) staff on some matters.

She told the commission that when her second cousin Steven Larkins came to HACS to manage it in 2000, there was a rumour he had abused young boys in his previous job with the Scouts.

But she told the hearing she thought the rumour was "hogwash".

"I didn't believe it," she said.

Ms Henderson said when Larkins was confronted about the rumour he became agitated and angry, and threatened to sue for defamation.

The commission has previously heard Larkins was convicted of sexually abusing two boy scouts, and of possessing child pornography and falsifying documents.

Although he was reported to police and the Scouts in the 1990s, Larkins was not convicted until 2012.

The commission has been told Larkins was asked to resign from the Scouts instead of being sacked to avoid bad publicity for the organisation.

How often have you heard this? An organisation is more concerned about its reputation than the welfare of the children in the organisation. People who make such decisions should be prosecuted for aiding and abetting a criminal activity!

He falsified his Working With Children Check.

DOCS also gave him permission to have a 17-year-old-boy, who he was grooming for sex, live with him.

Today Ms Henderson burst into tears when she was asked how she felt about Larkins.

"He used me as a xxxxxx puppet," she said. "I don't want to see this happen to anyone else."

On Wednesday, current chief executive of the Department of Family and Community Services, formerly known as DOCS, Maree Walk said the procedures that let HACS staff have custody of children the way Larkins did has changed.

But she acknowledged some bureaucratic bungling enabled Larkins to keep his job.

Sexual Predator Planned to Rape and Eat Children

In the "How Long, Oh Lord, how Long?" category comes this hardly believable story of a very sick man, who, apparently, has friends. Thank You Lord for not allowing this guys fantasies to be realized. Keep praying and Save a Child by 3:15 PM. ====>>

September 18, 2013 In the News
The Mirror, UK

Before he was caught, Geoffrey Portway planned to rape and eat innocent children. This might sound like a Grimm’s fairy tale gone horribly wrong, but he was committed to this terrifying fantasy.

In his house, he had a dungeon, a homemade coffin and butchering tools. He even bragged online about his desire to sexually assault and consume children.

British would-be cannibal Geoffrey Portway who plotted to kidnap, kill and eat a child has been jailed for 26 years.

Police who raided the Massachusetts home of Portway, 40, found a dungeon with a child-sized coffin, scalpels and butchering kits.

Portway pleaded guilty in May to the sick plot to kidnap, rape, kill and eat a child in his US home.

Today he was sentenced to 320 months as the prosecutor said it was the State's wish that someone like Portway doesn't exist.

Incredibly, Portway's defence team said in court that while he needs punishing for child pornography, his plot to murder, kill and keep the child in a dungeon was just fantasy.

Portway is said to have had numerous online chats with other paedophiles - using the alias Longpig - about a mutual interest in abducting, raping, murdering and eating children.

Many of these conversations were accompanied by the trading of child pornography. These chats also included images of children known to them, accompanied by discussions of the desire to sexually abuse, murder and cannibalise them.

In conversations with one of his contacts - Michael Arnett - Portway used Skype and other methods to trade child pornography including images of injured, mutilated and dead children, while chatting about the sexual abuse, rape, abduction, murder and cannibalism of children.

Over months, he repeatedly asked Arnett to kidnap a child for him, with the intent that Portway would ultimately rape, kill and eat the child.

They also discussed real children, by name and photo, whom Arnett claimed to know and have access to.

Portway and Arnett discussed different ways to kidnap children and the age range that Portway preferred. Portway was told that Arnett had experience with the abduction and sexual abuse of children.

On July 27 last year, federal agents along with state and local police executed a search warrant at Portway's home. Computers and digital devices containing his child pornography collection were seized, as well as the computer he used to trade child photography and attempts to plan the abduction of a child.

Agents also discovered a locked door in the basement, and inside a second door was a dungeon lined with sound-deadening material and containing a chair, television and what appeared to be cable access to the internet.

The room also contained a child-sized homemade coffin with exterior locking devices, a steel cage approximately three feet wide, two feet high and four feet long, with multiple locking devices, and a steel table top with steel rings at six points, presumably for restraints.

Outside these rooms were a cabinet freezer, an upright freezer, disposable scalpels, butchering kits and castration tools.

The dungeon was described in detail by Portway in recovered chats as a place he intended to use to keep kidnapped children while he sexually abused them and as a place to eventually murder and cannibalise them.

50 Year Visa Ban proposed for Pedophiles in Russia

A Russian MP has suggested a 50-year visa ban for anyone convicted of pedophilia-related crimes, including those who make child pornography or involve the underage in this business. This follows an incident in Siberia where several men suspected of raping a 4-year old girl.

State Duma deputy Aleksandr Sidyakin (United Russia) submitted a set of amendments to the Law on Entering and Exiting the Russian Federation that, according to the parliamentarian, would create a “migration barrier” against the spreading of sex tourism that involves children.

The bill proposes a ban on foreigners which would last 50 years from the date of conviction for pedophilia-related crimes. This also includes those involved in child pornography or anyone who is “implicating children into showing events of a pornographic character”.

The current draft contains no details on how to establish the complicity of visa applicants and visitors in the crimes, but this could pose a problem as currently there is no single international database.

MP Sidyakin told the RIA Novosti news agency that his initiative has received support from the plenipotentiary for children’s rights Pavel Astakhov.

Russia introduced the term pedophilia to the criminal code in 2012 when the parliament passed the presidential bill toughening the punishment for those who commit sex crimes against children. Previously, the younger the victim also led to stricter punishment, but there was no separate article in the code.

According to the new law people repeatedly convicted of sex crimes against children can be sentenced to life in prison. The same law also allows convicts to ask for chemical castration in exchange for softer punishment.

Various Russian politicians have suggested introducing the death penalty for pedophiles, but so far it has not yet come to such move.

Public opinion suggests that such move would get serious support.

In a recent incident hundreds of people took to the streets in the remote Siberian region of Yakutia  demanding tougher punishment for several men suspected of raping a 4-year old girl. The protesters signed a petition seeking to introduce the death penalty for pedophiles and the mayor of the Yakutiya capital was among those who signed the document.

New Sex Offender Laws to Protect Children in Canada and Abroad

PRIME MINISTER STEPHEN HARPER SPEAKS AT A NEWS CONFERENCE ANNOUNCING PLANS FOR TOUGHER LAWS FOR SEXUAL CRIMINALS IN TORONTO, AUGUST 29, 2013.

From Sun News

OTTAWA - The prime minister is promising the "most comprehensive law to combat sex crimes against children" ever enacted in Canada.

"It will require that high-risk sex offenders provide Canadian police with advanced notice of international travel," Stephen Harper said Monday in Vancouver. "The act will further authorize police and government agencies to inform Canadian border guards about these travel plans so that from now on such offenders will be carefully monitored by Canada."

Harper said the new law would also allow Canadian authorities to notify destination countries that an out-of-prison child molester is headed their way.

That could help protect potential victims of pedophiles looking to prey on vulnerable children abroad.
"Just as we must protect our children we should do what we can to protect innocent kids beyond our borders," Harper said.

Harper said the Conservatives will also create a national, publicly accessible database of "high-risk child sex offenders" to replace the patchwork of information available across the country.

The moves follow an August promise to keep child molesters behind bars longer.

NDP Leader Thomas Mulcair refused to comment on the proposals, but still mocked the government.
"So they discovered these things after eight years in power and I hope that they're going to hold a press conference to roundly scold themselves for not doing something about this great problem that they've discovered today," he said.

Canadian Police Association president Tom Stamatakis, who joined Harper at the announcement, said he "can't possibly over-emphasize the need for longer sentences to keep these serious offenders off our streets."

Pervert Pretends to be Justin Bieber for Internet Sex

Justin Bieber imposter Robert Hunter jailed over child sex videos

                                       Justin Bieber
            Robert Hunter
                                              So not the same!

Robert Hunter had 800 videos of young girls from all over the world.

A Middlesbrough, England, man who pretended to be pop singer Justin Bieber to trick children into sending him sex act videos has been jailed for 14 years.

Robert Hunter, 35, was caught after a girl from Tasmania informed police.

Officers found 800 videos from all over the world - some from boys as young as nine - at his home at Brough Court.

Hunter pleaded guilty to 15 charges of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity and 14 of making indecent photos at Teesside Crown Court.

The court heard Hunter spent years targeting hundreds of girls and boys across the UK, France, Spain, Italy, Serbia, Asia and Canada.

It represents callous, almost sadistic exploitation over a number of years” said Judge Peter Bowers.

Girls, believing he was the pop star, stripped off in front of their computer cameras after he said he would be their boyfriend, the court heard.

Schoolboys also became his victims when he posed as a teenage girl and persuaded them to perform sex acts on camera which he used to lure more girls, said prosecutor Richard Bennett.

But when they tried to back out he blackmailed them with threats.

A 12-year-old girl slashed her arms after he posted indecent photos of her on Facebook along with her address and phone number.

Judge Peter Bowers said it was possibly the worst case of internet child sex abuse he had heard.

"It represents callous, almost sadistic exploitation over a number of years preying on girls' naivety who were undermined by their own behaviour," he said.

Tina Pawson, mitigating, said he was a "lonely individual who had difficulties in forming relationships with adults".

Miss Pawson said he had shown remorse and was willing to receive treatment in prison.

Mr Bennett said Cleveland Police officers spoke to forces around the world and used Interpol to trace his victims. Hunter was arrested in December 2011.

Det Sgt Paul Higgins, of Cleveland Police, said: "Robert Hunter was a calculating and malicious predator who set out to coerce and bully young girls into exposing themselves over the internet."
