ANCHORAGE - Alaska
A cooperative effort between the Juneau and Sitka police departments led to the arrest of a man charged with multiple counts of sexual abuse of minors.
The Juneau police department arrested 20-year-old Regal Robert Hudson Friday under the charge of Attempted Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the second degree. The arrest, according to JPD Lt. Kris Sell, came after a coordinated effort from JPD and SPD detectives beginning in March. Sitka police first became aware of Hudson’s activities in January.
“At the same time various aspects of the cases were being addressed in both towns, a JPD detective began texting Hudson pretending to be a 13 year old girl,” Lt. Sell explained in a press release. “Plans were ultimately formulated for the two to meet for sex. When Hudson arrived at the location he was greeted by several JPD officers and detectives. It was the texting with the JPD detective that led to the initial arresting charge.”
Further investigation led prosecutors to add an additional charge of Attempted Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the second at his arraignment, along with three counts of Sexual Abuse of a Minor in the second, three counts of Online Enticement of a Minor, and one count of Contributing to the Delinquency of a Minor.
Further proceedings are scheduled for May 27. Hudson was remanded to the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and is being held on a $75,000 cash bond.
