Anthony Weiner, whose sexting habit ended his political career and his marriage, and was blamed, indirectly, for tilting the outcome of the US presidential election, may face charges related to sexual abuse of children.

Investigators seized Mr Weiner’s laptop and mobile phone last year after a 15-year-old girl from North Carolina reported holding lewd text and online conversations with the former congressman. She said that he had sent her photos of himself partially clothed and had asked her to strip for him as they chatted on a video messaging service.

The US attorney’s office in Manhattan and the FBI are now considering a charge against Mr Weiner of producing child abuse images, which carries a minimum prison term of 15 years.

Radnor Teacher For Troubled Youth Facing
70 Child Sex Charges

Nina Scott has been held on $100,000 after being accused of having sexual contact with a student in 2016

By Max Bennett (Patch Staff)

A teacher for troubled youth in the Radnor area has been hit with 70 charges related to child sex abuse after admitting to having sexual contact with a 16-year-old student, Radnor Township Police said.

Nina Scott, 28, of Downingtown and a teacher at theVillage in Radnor's Rosemont section, has been charged with 34 felony counts of institutional sexual assault of a minor; 34 counts of corruption of minors; one count of felony concealment of the whereabouts of a child; and one count of interfering with the custody of a committed person, court records show.

Scott was arrested on Jan. 31 and is slated to appear before Judge David H. Lang on Feb. 9 for her preliminary hearing, court records show.

Scott is accused of sexually assaulting a 16-year-old female student at the school for trauma stricken and behaviorally troubled youth between February and October 2016, according to Radnor Police.

Police said when the victim's room at a Luzerne County youth services center was searched, staff found a journal where the victim made romantic references about Scott and letters from Scott to the victim.

Scott and the victim initially denied their relationship to police, but Scott later admitted to having sexual contact with the victim inside theVillage and in Scott's car, according to police.

theVillage "provides child welfare, residential programs, mental health, and prevention services to children and families in Philadelphia and neighboring counties," according to its website. theVillage's Rosemont location offers residential services and outpatient therapy services and serves as its administrative headquarters.

"We received notification of an allegation of abuse against one of our staff members in October 2016 related to a former resident of our program," a statement issued Wednesday from theVillage said. "The staff member’s employment was immediately and indefinitely suspended without pay at that time."

The statement said that Scott was terminated in December.

"It was our initial understanding that the alleged incidents did not occur on our property as no criminal investigation was conducted on our campus," the statement reads. "This afternoon we learned from Radnor Township Police that they have reason to believe some alleged incidents did occur on school property."
