Deputies fear there may be more victims of
child sexual abuse suspect
By WSAZ News Staff

BOONE COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) -- A man is in jail for allegedly abusing a young girl, and investigators worry there may be more victims.

David Ray Vance, 46, of Madison, is charged with three counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

Investigators say Vance abused a girl who was 10 or 11 years old at the time. He allegedly had sexual contact with the child on at least three separate occasions.

According to the Boone County Sheriff's Office, the alleged abuse happened in 2018 at Vance's former home in the Greenview area of Boone County.

"During an interview with investigators, Vance admitted to the inappropriate contact," said deputies.

If convicted, Vance could face up to 25 years in prison and a fine of up to $5,000 for each count.

The Boone County Sheriff's Office Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Division is handling the investigation.

"Our investigators are concerned there may be more victims out there," said Chief Deputy Chad Barker. "We are asking that anyone who has been a victim at the hands of David Vance or if their child has been a victim, please come forward so he can be held accountable for these crimes."

You can contact Cpl. Mike Foster about the case at 304-369-0587.

Vance is in the Southwestern Regional Jail with a $60,000 bond.

Beavert was arrested without incident and booked in Deschutes County Jail.

Fate of accused California child molester unknown
as judge rejects plea deal

Sheyanne N Romero, Visalia Times-Delta

A woman accused of sexually abusing two high school freshman-age boys was set to serve probation time for the alleged crime.

This week, Coral Blain, 41, was set to plead guilty in exchange for a six-year suspended sentence; however, the judge denied the agreement.

Blain is charged with 21 counts related to the sexual abuse of two minors. Among the counts are oral copulation, sexual intercourse and showing a child pornography.

Following a March 2018 preliminary hearing, where witnesses provided detailed testimony regarding the abuse, Judge Brett Alldredge gave an indicated sentence of three years in prison.

In March, Judge Joesph Kalashian told Blain's attorneys that if she pleaded guilty to the charges he would offer a suspended six-year prison sentence and hand down a one-year term in county jail. If she violates probation, the Tulare mother would be eligible for the full six years in prison.

She would also have to register as a sex offender. Blain agreed to the plea agreement.

However, after receiving the probation report, Kalashian reconsidered the plea. Blain will be back in court on Monday to see what her next step might be.

According to Tulare County District Attorney officials, Blain has three options:

Withdraw her guilty plea
Discuss a new indicated sentence with the new judge
Set a trial date

Blain was arrested on Oct. 28, 2017, after a boy made a report to police claiming he and Blain were having an "inappropriate relationship." Visalia detectives with the Violent Crimes Unit began an investigation into the allegations.

A second boy came forward after the first allegation, detectives said.

According to the complaint filed by prosecutors, the abuse began in September against a 15-year-old boy. During the first week of October, detectives believe Blain began molesting a 14-year-old boy. Both boys were freshmen at Redwood High School when the alleged abuse took place, according to court records.

Court records show that days after her October arrest — on Nov. 3, 2017 — Eric Lytle, Blain's ex-husband, filed for divorce. The couple shares four children. Lytle served Blain while she was behind bars.

If convicted on all counts, Blain faces a maximum sentence of 17 years in prison. Her next hearing is set for Monday in Department 5.

Is Easter Monday not a holiday in the USA?

And just down the 99, another CSA case gets pushed back

Child sex abuse trial pushed back for former cocktail lounge owner and ex-girlfriend
By:  Jason Kotowski

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- The trial of a former owner of a downtown Bakersfield cocktail lounge and his ex-girlfriend on charges they committed sex acts with an 11-year-old girl has been pushed back to September.

In court Friday, Judge John W. Lua set a trial date of Sept. 16 for Frank Mark Sanchez and Tauney Lee Van Sickle, with a motions date of July 24.

It's likely the new trial date will also be pushed back. Sanchez's public defender, Paul Cadman, said in court he won't be ready for trial for a year.

Van Sickle is represented by David A. Torres, and Alexandria Ottoman is prosecuting the case.

Sanchez, former owner of the Green Room, is accused by the alleged victim, now an adult, of engaging in sex acts with her for years. She said the abuse began when she was 5 years old.

Sanchez admitted to the abuse, police said in court documents.

Van Sickle dated Sanchez years ago and was filmed engaging in sex acts with the child when the girl was 11, according to court documents. She admitted committing the acts to make money for a "sex blog" run by Sanchez, police said in the documents.

The Green Room closed following Sanchez's arrest in December 2017.

Convicted Iowa sex offender to serve 27 years for receiving, distributing >1,000 child porn images, and CSA

Ian Richardson, Des Moines Register

A convicted sex offender from Pottawattamie County has been sentenced to more than 27 years prison for receiving and distributing more than 1,000 images of child pornography and having sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl.

Justin Stephen Martinez, 37, was sentenced Thursday to 333 months in prison, followed by a term of supervised release of 20 years.

Martinez had previously been convicted of third-degree sexual abuse of a child in 2005 in Pottawattamie County District Court.

Martinez faced child pornography charges following an investigation that began in December 2017, when an undercover law enforcement agent received notification that an IP address used by Martinez was sharing multiple files containing child pornography on a file sharing program for approximately a year.

The investigation found he had received and distributed more than 1,000 images, according to a news release from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

It was also determined Martinez had sexual contact with a 12-year-old girl and had sexually explicit images of her.

Martinez's case was investigated by the Iowa Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation, Pottawattamie County Sheriff's Office and Federal Bureau of Investigation. It was prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Southern District of Iowa.

Judge: Boy Scout files used to track sexual misconduct accusations can be used at trial
BY CYNTHIA SEWELL
Idaho Statesman

A lawsuit alleging that the Boy Scouts of America knew Idaho Scout leaders and volunteers were child molesters but covered up the danger, allowing it to continue, will go to trial May 6 in federal court in Boise.

The case is one of two Idaho lawsuits in which a combined 29 men have sued the Boy Scouts and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in federal court, alleging that both organizations were complicit in the cover-up.

The alleged abuse took place in Idaho in the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s.

The attorneys bringing the lawsuits — Gilion Dumas and Ashley Vaughn, of Portland, and Andrew Chasan and Timothy Walton, of Boise — contend the Boy Scouts kept files on Scoutmasters accused of sexual misconduct, but didn’t reveal that information to parents, volunteers or others. The attorneys also contend that church officials knew there was a problem with child molesters in Idaho troops, but intentionally kept that secret from families and law enforcement agencies.

Of those 29 cases, 19 have settled, three are slated for trial, two have been dismissed and five are pending.

The upcoming trial is for two of the three cases and includes only the Boy Scouts as a defendant. The third case, scheduled for trial in July, includes both the Boy Scouts and the church as defendants.

COURT RULINGS SET TRIAL PARAMETERS
In preparation for the May trial, U.S. District Judge B. Lynn Winmill recently issued two orders.

On March 15, Winmill ruled that the plaintiffs could introduce the Boy Scouts’ “ineligible volunteer” files as evidence in the trial.

Ineligible volunteer files are part of a decades-old system the Boy Scouts used to track sexual misconduct and other transgressions. These individuals have been deemed ineligible to participate in Scout programs.

On April 17, Winmill ruled the plaintiffs could seek punitive damages in addition to compensatory damages.

While compensatory damages are meant to compensate the victim, punitive damages are meant to punish a defendant for bad conduct and to serve as a deterrent to continuing the bad conduct, Dumas explained.

In 2010, a Portland jury awarded $18.5 million in punitive damages and $1.4 million in compensatory damages for the sexual abuse a former Scout suffered as a child.

Upskirting leads to child porn charges for
former York, PA Hospital employee

Christopher Dornblaser, York Dispatch

A former York Hospital pharmacy employee caught taking a photo of an unsuspecting restaurant employee in York Township led to police searching his phone and finding child pornography, according to authorities.

York Area Regional Police said Benjamin Edward Adam Rice, 30, took a photo underneath a 16-year-old girl's skirt in June.

After Rice was taken into custody, police searched his phone and found four photos of child pornography, as well as other secret audio and video recordings, some of which were taken at York Hospital, court documents allege.

Rice, of the 500 block of Gables View Lane, Felton, was arraigned Monday, April 15, on four counts of child pornography, one count of intercepting communications, and one misdemeanor count of invasion of privacy.

On Friday, April 19, WellSpan spokesman Ryan Coyle said in a statement that Rice was a pharmacy technician at WellSpan Pharmacy starting in 2017 and ending in December 2018.

WellSpan learned of the police investigation into Rice on Dec. 19, and Rice was officially terminated the next day, according to Coyle.

Incident: Charging documents state Rice was at the Great American Saloon, on Dairyland Square, when he held his phone at "crotch level," to take the picture as the employee was serving him about 7:30 p.m. June 29.

He was seen on surveillance slouching his body and manipulating the phone under her dress, according to police.

Cpl. Daniel Miller wrote in charging documents he spoke to Rice at the restaurant, and told him about what was seen on the footage. When he was told he was on video doing it, Rice began to "visibly shake," police said.

He was taken to the police station, where he admitted to police that he took the photo, prompting authorities to seize his phone, court documents state.

Investigation: Investigators searched his phone and found four images of child pornography, numerous "upskirting" type photos and audio and video recordings, according to police.

Rice had more than 258 gigabytes of data on his phone, the majority of which were secret recordings, up-skirting photos, and adult pornography downloads and recordings, court documents allege.

There were also numerous photos and recordings of minor children, clothed, that Rice had zoomed in on their backsides, according to authorities.

He also had secret audio and video recordings from York Hospital, according to police, who said he clearly did not have consent to record the people in them.

He also recorded things secretly at his home, charging documents state.

During a later interview with police, Rice admitted to "upskirting" other women, as well as video recording other unsuspecting women, for his "sexual gratification," according to court documents.

Rice remains free on $7,500 unsecured bail, meaning he could forfeit up to that amount should he miss court proceedings.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 13 at District Judge Scott Laird's office.

Man convicted in Texas of sexually assaulting child
gets life sentence
Eagle staff

A 27-year-old man was sentenced to life in prison Thursday after a Washington County jury convicted him of continuously sexually assaulting a young child.

According to the Washington County District Attorney’s Office, Hector Mancilla was found guilty of continuous sexual abuse of a child, aggravated sexual assault and two counts of sexual performance of a child. He was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday.

According to the release, the victim testified in court against Mancilla. Last year, the child’s mother contacted the Brenham Police Department after looking through an old cellphone once belonging to Mancilla and discovering videos of him assaulting the child. The child was interviewed at Scotty’s House in Bryan and described a pattern of molestation.

“It takes so much bravery for a child to come forward like this and describe the most tragic events of their life to a room full of strange adults,” assistant district attorney Lauren Haevischer is quoted in the release.

Why does there need to be a 'room full' of strangers? Isn't the point of having a special place to depose children to avoid the need of surrounding them with strangers?

Texas Man Indicted for Continuous Sexual Abuse
of a Child
By Matt Tramell

SAN ANGELO, TX -- A San Angelo man was indicted in April for continuously sexually abusing a child he knew was under the age of 14.

On March 4, Willie Leal, 38, was arrested by the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office and charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child under the age of 14.

The acts occurred from May 7 2010 until May 6 2014. According to the indictment Leal had sexual contact with the victim.

He also had pictures of the child which included sexual conduct.

Leal is currently in the Tom Green County Jail in lieu of $500,000 bond and his initial pretrial will begin on June 4.

Nebraska man sentenced to prison
in sexual assault of 4 y/o
by KHGI

BROKEN BOW, Neb. — A former Callaway man will serve time in prison for sexually assaulting a 4-year-old girl back in 2017.

Judge Karin Noakes sentenced Robert Edwards Sr., 72, to 25-30 years in prison with credit for 87 days served after a jury convicted him of first-degree sexual assault of a child. He was also ordered to register as a sex offender.

Custer County District Court records say the girl reported the sexual assault to her parents on June 23, 2017, saying Edwards had injured her genitals with his fingers.

The girl was taken to a Kearney hospital for a medical examination, where a doctor said she found injuries consistent with internal penetration. The doctor also reported internal swelling and redness.

Court records say Edwards has already filed an appeal in his case. Documents also show that he filed a motion to stay his sentence while the appeal is being considered, but the judge denied it and he was ordered into the custody of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services.

Feds say Cortland, NY husband threatened to leave wife
if she didn't film boy's sex abuse

Anthony Borrelli, Binghamton Press & Sun-Bulletin

Cortland police responded to a report of a suicidal woman on Sept. 3, 2018, and found her sitting at the kitchen table of her Rickard Street home.

The woman, Brittany E. Berry, told police "everyone" was calling her a child molester and allegedly confessed: "I molested (a 3-year-old boy) a few days ago. I know it was wrong, and I shouldn't have done it."

After an investigation, Cortland police arrested Brittany, 24, and her husband Lawrence C. Berry, 25, with video-recording sexual acts against the boy. On Wednesday, the U.S. Attorney's Office brought new federal charges against the couple: felony counts of conspiracy to sexually exploit a child.

Brittany Berry and Lawrence Berry have been jailed since their initial arrest in September. They're awaiting further appearances in the Syracuse federal courthouse and could face at least 15 years in prison, if convicted.

Court documents made public Wednesday detail the allegations and reveal how law enforcement officials pieced together the case.

During questioning Sept. 5 following the suicidal complaint, Brittany Berry admitted to performing sex acts on the child, recording some on her cellphone and sending the videos to her husband, Lawrence Berry, via Facebook Messenger.

The crimes allegedly happened in August and September 2018, while Lawrence was working out of town.

The reason, as Brittany Berry claimed, was because her husband asked her to do so.

This is the 2nd story this week (4th story on link) involving a couple sexually assaulting a toddler (4 y/o), from Cortland, NY. Cortland has a population of less than 19,000 people!

"Larry has asked me a lot of times to send him sexual videos of myself and with (the boy)," Brittany Berry told police in a statement. "Larry also threatened to leave me several times if I did not do these things..."

Court documents allege Lawrence Berry also messaged his wife, in reference to the victim, "Tell him if he love (you) he won't say anything..." and, "Do it one last time or I am gone."

When police questioned Lawrence Berry, court documents say, he initially denied the accusations by claiming someone hacked his Facebook account. Later, he allegedly confessed.

"The stuff that Brittany did with (the victim) was all my idea and I even sent Brittany a message saying that we were done if she did not do it," Lawrence Berry allegedly told police.

The federal charges come after the FBI became involved with the investigation.

This is so pathetic, and yet it happens every day in the USA. Moms are so afraid of losing their husbands, or boyfriends, they will sacrifice their own children, or someone else's, to feed the perversion. They are far better off without the creep in the first place, and their children certainly are.

sexual abuse in Milwaukee horror story

MILWAUKEE – Three brothers who allegedly engaged in years-long sexual assaults on their younger siblings, unchecked by their father, are facing sexual assault charges after being arrested this month.

Bail totaling $225,000 has been set for the father and sons from South Milwaukee, who were arrested after police located the alleged victims, who were taken from the home by an older sister.

Bail for the 62-year-old father and one son, 29, was set at $50,000 each, according to state court records. Bail was set at $100,000 for a 27-year-old son, and $25,000 for a 20-year-old son, according to the records. All four were arrested April 8, according to police.

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, is not identifying the four because doing so could identify the alleged victims.

The brothers are charged with multiple felony counts, including repeated first-degree sexual assault of the same child, and first- and second-degree sexual assault of a child or a person younger than 13, according to the records.

The father is charged with multiple counts of neglecting a child resulting in a sex offense and bodily harm, and failure to protect a child, according to the records.

According to a criminal complaint:

Police went to the home April 8 for a suspicious vehicle complaint. A 19-year-old woman, one of the sisters of those charged, spoke with officers, saying her younger brothers and sisters ran away from home because it was unsafe.

Around the same time, the father called the police to report the children missing.

Once located, the children told police their house was very dirty, they were not going to school, there were holes in the walls and floors, and there was no heat.

The next day, police accompanied the children to the home to collect some of their belongings. Officers found nails sticking up in the kitchen floor and described the basement as smelling like a backed-up sewer.

The father told officers his 19-year-old daughter took three of his other children a few days earlier without permission. He admitted to knowing of allegations that his 20-year-old son was touching his sister inappropriately and said he thought something probably was going on when the boys were teenagers because of “raging hormones.”

The 19-year-old said she had been repeatedly sexually assaulted by the 27-year-old brother when she was 12 years old and that it stopped when she turned 15.

Another sister, 22, told police the same brother also sexually assaulted her when she was 8 years old at least four times. She said her father knew about the allegations.

A third sister, 16, said she had been molested since she was in diapers and forced into oral sex by the 27-year-old. Additionally, she said the 29-year-old forced her to touch him. These incidents stretched over 10 years.

A fourth sister, 12, said she was sexually assaulted by her brothers and that her father knew but didn’t try to stop it.

One brother, 14, said he also was molested by his older brothers.

The 16-year-old also told police she and her siblings were supposed to be home-schooled but never did any schoolwork. She also alleged that her father didn’t prepare food for them, according to the complaint.

The father told police he stopped making his kids do school work about five years ago when his wife left, the complaint says. It further states, "it is believed that the mother of the children is now deceased."

The 27-year-old originally denied the allegations but later confessed to sexually assaulting three of the four sisters accusing him, the complaint says. He told officers it started when they were little kids and stopped about a year and a half ago. He told police he tried to stop but was addicted.

According to the complaint, the investigation is ongoing and Wisconsin could add additional charges.

The two-story wood-frame owner-occupied home sits in a quiet residential neighborhood not far from the city's main business strip. Insulation is stuffed into the front, second-floor windows and a large recreational vehicle and a boom truck are parked behind a wooden fence on a garage apron.

City officials have ordered the truck be removed, and the property has been cited in the past for numerous code violations, including unlicensed vehicles, litter, carpeting and debris left in the alley along with furniture and a toilet.

South Milwaukee Police Chief William Jessup confirmed that firearms and ammunition were removed from the home but no firearms-related charges were filed.

A preliminary hearing for the father and sons is scheduled for later this month.

Southern Baptist Convention unit seeks victims of
ex-leader who held 2 posts in Arkansas

FORT WORTH -- The missionary arm of the Southern Baptist Convention is reaching out to potential victims of a former Southern Baptist leader who was indicted in December on a charge of child sexual abuse.

Mark Edwin Aderholt, 47, was arrested July 3 (9th story on link) in South Carolina on a warrant issued in the Tarrant County, Texas, case. Court records in Tarrant County show an indictment was handed up on a charge of sexual assault of a child younger than 17.

Aderholt had worked for the International Mission Board during the 2000s. The International Mission Board is the missionary arm of the Southern Baptist Convention.

He also worked as a staff member at Immanuel Baptist Church in Little Rock from December 2009 to July 2016, serving as the associate pastor of missions and evangelism, according to church records. He also served as executive pastor at Central Baptist Church in North Little Rock in 2008, according to the church's website.

Aderholt, a Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary graduate, resigned last summer from the South Carolina Baptist Convention when his accuser came forward about the assault, which she said happened in 1996.

Stephen Haber, a human-resources official with the International Mission Board, said in an email sent Thursday that it had hired a third-party group to conduct an investigation into its handling of past allegations of sexual abuse or sexual harassment. One of the reviews was of Aderholt, who served as a career missionary in Europe from about 2000 to 2007.

The International Mission Board has said it did not know about the allegations against Aderholt at the time of his employment. However, it knew of the allegations against him in 2007, according to police records, emails and an internal investigation from the organization.

The International Mission Board did not report the allegations to authorities.

"While we are not aware of Mr. Aderholt engaging in any acts of child sexual abuse, sexual harassment or other sexual misconduct during his time of service with IMB, it is our desire to ensure that we learn of any victims of sexual abuse so that we can offer counseling resources to help them," Haber wrote.

Haber sent the email to people who could have been in contact with Aderholt during that time-frame or whose children could have been in contact with him.

"On behalf of IMB, I want you to know that we are taking this matter very seriously and are committed to reaching out to any potential victims," he wrote.

PA man jailed on sex abuse charges
after priming victims with pot
SHEN WU TAN
stan@altoonamirror.com

A Shade Gap man is behind bars on accusations that he sexually abused four juveniles in Bedford, Fulton and Huntingdon counties.

Howard Anthony Strait, 27, of 21272 Main St., faces numerous criminal charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old juvenile female, an 11-year-old juvenile female, a 12-year-old juvenile female and a 13-year-old juvenile male between January 2016 and June 2018.

The Huntingdon County man faces 61 charges, including rape forcible compulsion, rape of a substantially impaired person, rape of child, statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with child, aggravated indecent assault of child, corruption of minors, stalking, endangering welfare of children and criminal attempt.

State police said they received a report of sexual abuse of two juvenile females in May 2018 after one of the victims attempted to commit suicide and contributed the abuse by Strait as a factor for wanting to kill herself.

Unfortunately, attempted suicide is not that uncommon among survivors of child sex abuse.

Last June, two of the victims, in an interview with child advocacy center staff, disclosed that they were given marijuana or synthetic marijuana from Strait before he sexually assaulted them during multiple occasions, police said.

One of the victims reported that Strait sexually assaulted her when she was at his residence watching a movie, while laying in bed with him, after breakfast one morning, on a couch and in a vehicle. The victim told police that Strait forcibly had sex with her after breakfast, on a couch and in the car, a police criminal complaint states. She also reportedly told police that Strait used a back massager to sexually abuse her.

The other victim shared a similar story of Strait giving her marijuana or synthetic marijuana on his porch at his old house at 157 Lodge Road in Crystal Spring before sexually assaulting her, according to police.

In December, another juvenile came forward, confirming the other two victims’ stories and accusing Strait of assaulting her as well.

A juvenile victim also claimed witnessing Strait sexually assault another victim a couple of times.

A male victim also told this juvenile victim that something had happened between him and Strait, the complaint states.

In a March interview, the male victim reported two incidents with Strait, saying Strait had him smoke marijuana before assaulting him.

Multiple victims said Strait told them he was making them more comfortable with sex.

A female victim disclosed to police in March that Strait pulled down her pants at his Hopewell residence and sexually assaulted her in August 2016. She said she told Strait to stop, but that he wouldn’t, the complaint states.

The victim also claimed Strait sexually assaulted her in a car a few days after the first incident.

Strait denied all allegations against him in May 2018, according to a public information release.

He was arraigned Wednesday evening in front of Magisterial District Judge Kathy Calhoun. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for 9 a.m. May 1 in Bedford Central Court.

Strait is housed at the Bedford County Jail in lieu of $250,000 cash bail.

Grand jury indicts Texas couple in
child sexual assault case

WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) - Two suspects in the alleged repeated sexual assaults of a 12-year-old girl are now indicted by the grand jury.

Shannon Wells is indicted on four counts of aggravated sexual assault of a child as is his co-defendant, Casey Chapman, 36.

Police officers said Wells is the boyfriend of Chapman and they both had sex with a young girl over the course of several months last year.

They said the victim said to police she at first had only been having sex with Chapman, but then Wells found out about it and demanded sex too.

Chapman reportedly told officers the assaults by Wells took place several times between Halloween and Thanksgiving of last year and her sexual relationship with the girl began before that in March.

Chapman was indicted previously on four counts of aggravated sexual assault. She remains jailed on $850,000 in bonds.

Wells is no longer listed on the jail roster.

Utah middle school teacher facing charge of
felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child
By Gephardt Daily Staff

ST. GEORGE, Utah, — A St. George middle school teacher is facing a charge of first-degree felony aggravated sexual abuse of a child after allegedly touching a student inappropriately.

A probable cause statement from the 5th District Court of St. George said Shaun Michael Timothy, 46, from Santa Clara, was arrested Thursday morning.

On Saturday, April 13, a report regarding a sex offense was reported to the St. George Police Department, the statement said. Initial information was gathered and further follow up was conducted.

The victim, who is a 13-year-old female, disclosed to officers that while in class at the Tonaquint Intermediate School, in St. George, her teacher, Timothy, touched her buttocks.

She told officers that when she realized what was happening she jumped off her desk and moved away from Timothy and sat in her chair. She added that “she felt sick and was physically and emotionally upset about what had happened.”

The victim also told officers that prior to this incident Timothy had sat on her and a friend’s lap while in class, and had put his buttocks on her while in the lunch line, after he had cut in front of her. She said that his buttocks touched her arm and stomach.

“She said she was shocked and moved away from him and went to another line to then get her lunch,” the statement said.

Further follow-up was done with several other juveniles at Tonaquint Intermediate School who were present during the incident, and they corroborated the girl’s disclosures regarding Timothy touching her.

Timothy was contacted by phone and was asked if he would be willing to come to the police station; the teacher asked the detective to contact his attorney. Contact was made and arrangements were made to have Timothy turn himself in, to be booked into the Washington County Jail, the statement said. He is being held on $20,000 bail.

The reason the charges are aggravated and enhanced to a first-degree felony is due to the fact that Timothy at the time of the incident held a position of trust, as the victim’s teacher, officials said.

He molested a young girl. Now this Benton City man worries about his ‘sex offender’ label
BY KRISTIN M. KRAEMER

Kennewick, WA
A Benton City man will spend at least five years and eight months in prison for molesting a grade-school girl over a weekend in January 2018.

Richard E. Worley Jr., 57, was sentenced Wednesday to the mandatory minimum term, but he was told he could be behind bars for the rest of his life depending on the decision of a state board. His ultimate release date will be based on his behavior and participation in treatment while in prison.

In preparation for his sentencing, Worley told a community corrections officer he hopes to be sent to Airway Heights Corrections Center near Spokane because “it is better for sex offenders there,” according to a report.

Worley also inquired about the rules in prison for extended family visits and how he could go about getting that, the report said.

CONCERNED ABOUT ‘SEX OFFENDER’ LABEL
“Based on the interview conducted he was mainly concerned about how he would be viewed by other people as a sex offender, and what prison he would be incarcerated at,” wrote community corrections Officer Kyle Nickerson.

Worley otherwise would not talk to Nickerson about the crime without his defense attorney present.

The girl disclosed the sexual abuse to her friend, saying she had been touched inappropriately by Worley. That friend told her own mother, who then notified the girl’s parents so they could talk to her about it, according to court documents.

Asked by her parents what was going on, the girl went into graphic detail about the molestation and how Worley told her not to tell anyone.

Worley — who owned Progressive Design and Plumbing for 15 years — was confronted by Benton County sheriff’s detectives and emphatically denied touching the girl.

REFUSED A POLYGRAPH TEST
He did not hesitate to say “No” when asked if he would take a polygraph examination to help prove his innocence, documents show.

He then explained that in his 56 years of life, “he had heard those things were not very accurate and it would be better not to,” documents said.

Worley initially was charged in Benton County Superior Court with first-degree child molestation and first-degree child rape. He pleaded guilty in October to the amended charge of first-degree molestation with the aggravating circumstance that he violated a position of trust to commit the crime.

CHILD TRYING TO MOVE ON
Worley admitted he had been drinking when he had contact with the girl.

The girl’s father told Nickerson for the presentencing report that his daughter was uncomfortable around adult males for about five months after the sexual assault.

He also said they paid for a couple of counseling sessions, but the girl decided after the second session she did not want to talk about the situation anymore and stopped going, the report said.

When Worley gets out of prison, he will be on supervision for the rest of his life.

PA K-8 teacher's aide guilty of child sex abuse
of special needs girl in his class

And another story from York City today

Liz Evans Scolforo, York Dispatch

A former teacher's aide with York City School District has pleaded guilty to having sex with a 13-year-old girl who was a student in one of his special-needs classes at Ferguson K-8.

Jean Pierre Larue, 36, formerly of West York and now of Woodbury, New Jersey, appeared in York County Court on Thursday, April 18, and pleaded guilty to the first-degree felony of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child less than 16, according to court records.

As part of his plea agreement, Larue's other charges, including institutional sexual assault and unlawful contact with a minor, were dismissed, records state.

Larue is scheduled to be sentenced July 31.

Prior to sentencing, he must undergo a state sexual-offender evaluation as part of Megan's Law, according to court records. That will determine whether he should be deemed a sexually violent predator.

The background: A Ferguson K-8 student on Dec. 3 told investigators Larue had sex with her and performed oral sex on her in his home, according to court documents.

She told police she was 13 when the sexual contact started. It happened between Sept. 1 and Dec. 1, 2018, documents state.

Police have said they interviewed Larue the same day, and he admitted to sending inappropriate text messages to the girl asking to perform sexual acts on her. Larue also admitted to other sexual acts with the girl, according to documents.

York City school board meeting minutes state Larue was initially hired by the district as a personal-care assistant in August 2014. In January, York City School District officials said Larue was "removed from service" but remained employed there at a salary rate of $17.61 an hour.

His current status with the district could not be determined Thursday afternoon, but his conviction precludes him from working in schools. York City School District spokeswoman Erin James issued at statement Thursday saying the district had not yet been notified about the plea.

Larue was placed on administrative leave after the allegations arose, according to the statement, which reads: "Mr. Larue has been and will remain on unpaid leave pending the outcome of district investigations and proceedings, police investigations and legal proceedings against him."

Once Larue "no longer possess(es) the required credentials for employment in a public school, the district will take appropriate actions ... up to and including termination as may be required by law," according to the statement.

That is expected to happen after he is sentenced.

Former Texas youth baseball coach one of two people accused of sexual abuse of child
BY NICHOLE MANNA

A former North Texas youth baseball coach is one of two people arrested by the Southlake Police Department in an investigation of sexual abuse of a child.

Indalecio Esquivel, 59, is charged with sexual performance by a child, according to jail booking reports. He was released on bond after turning himself in on Tuesday, records show.

Mandy K. Anderson, 47, also turned herself in as a result of the police department’s investigation, Southlake police said in a news release. She’s charged with sexual assault of a child, the department said.

Police began their investigation after receiving a report about possible abuse in February, according to the news release.

At this point in the investigation, there is no evidence that there are any additional victims, police said.

A representative with the Dallas Raiders Baseball Club told the Fort Worth Star-Telegram that Esquivel was a coach for the organization but is no longer affiliated with the club.

No other information is being released, police said.
