Seattle teen girls' softball coach arrested
in undercover child sex sting
By: KIRO 7
RENTON, Wash. - A local manager and coach for a teenage girls’ club softball team in Woodinville was charged with attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor in King County Superior Court.
According to charging documents, 58-year-old Timothy L. Brickell attempted to pay for sex with what he believed was a teenage girl named "Vickey."
The teen, “Vickey,” was actually an undercover detective with Renton police.
Court documents show the detective created an undercover profile for “Vickey” on the website onlinebootycall.com on Feb. 20, 2019.
Police say Brickell responded to the profile the same day and began communicating with the undercover detective through text messages.
“The communications unequivocally establishes that their meeting was going to involve a prostitution transaction. They discussed the costs for specific sexual services using terms of art commonly known in the illicit sex trade,” according to court documents.
Police said “Vickey” addressed her age very soon into the conversation and let Brickell know that she was almost 16 years old.
According to court documents, Brickell responded, “Nice. Do you have any naughty pictures,” before allegedly agreeing to pay money in exchange for sexual acts.
Police “Vickey” continued to tell Brickell she was 15 years old but Brickell arranged to meet her at a hotel Feb. 21.
“He even communicated that he understood the gravity of the consequences if he were to be caught, stating in one text, ‘I just don’t want to get in trouble,’” police said.
Police said Brickell showed up at the hotel with over $80 in cash after “Vickey” told him she would provide oral sex for $75.
Brickell was arrested when he knocked on the hotel door, police said. According to court documents, Brickell told police he went to the hotel to talk to "Vickey" about "not doing this."
“The girls (Brickell) coaches are the same age as the girl he wanted to pay for sex. He also reported to police having at least one 16-year-old girl living in his household,” police said in court documents.
Brickell was transported to SCORE Jail in Des Moines and was booked for felony investigation of attempted commercial sexual abuse of a minor. His bail was set at $75,000.
Former Louisiana teacher accused of sexual abuse of students wants new trial location
Vickie Welborn
BENTON, La. – A former Bossier Parish school teacher accused of sexually assaulting students at Benton Elementary School wants his trial moved because of extensive local publicity.
But it will be this summer before Aubrey Norcross’ request goes before a judge. A hearing is set in July.
Norcross was in Bossier District Court Tuesday for a change of venue motion along with other matters related to his pending criminal charges. But the matters were postponed to later dates.
The 47-year-old Norcross is under indictment on one count of first-degree rape and video voyeurism, two counts of indecent behavior with a juvenile and eight counts molestation of a juvenile. The Benton Elementary P.E. teacher has pleaded not guilty.
District Attorney Schuyler Marvin has said the criminal charges allege sexual intercourse with a 5-year-old boy in October; inappropriate touching of others between August 2016 and October 2018; inappropriate behavior involving watching a video; and recording one child with an electronic device in September. Boys and girls ages 11 and under were involved, Marvin said.
All but one of the alleged incidents occurred at Benton Elementary; the other happened at Norcross' house, where he did private tutoring of archery outside school hours, Marvin said.
Conviction on a charge of first-degree rape is punishable by life in prison without parole.
In addition to moving the trial, Norcross also wants the judge to determine the admissibility of any incriminating statements given to law enforcement officers or others about the charges.
According to a motion filed in the court record, Norcross on Oct. 16 gave a statement to Bossier Parish sheriff’s Det. Kacy Gunn and Lt. Shannon Mack regarding the alleged offenses. No details about the statements were provided in the documents.
Norcross’ attorney Randal Fish filed a motion in March that’s also pending that seeks to have his client’s guilt or innocence decided by a unanimous jury. Prior to a change in Louisiana law in 2018, a defendant facing a life sentence could be convicted by 10 out of 12 jurors.
As of Jan. 1, a unanimous vote of the jury is required for all felony convictions. Crimes charged prior to that date still fall under the old law.
Parents of one of the children have filed a civil lawsuit against Norcross and the Bossier Parish School Board, saying school administrators knew or should have known about the teacher and didn’t investigation when signs of abuse occurred.
The school system has denied the allegations in its response to the lawsuit.
The school system also denied the specific allegations that Benton Elementary employees were not trained to recognize signs of abuse and failed to investigate Norcross when signs of abuse occurred and failed in their duty to protect students.

Preschool At D.C. Synagogue Accused Of Enabling 'Systemic' Child Sexual

A preschool at a prominent Jewish synagogue in Washington, D.C., enabled sexual abuse against numerous children for years, a new lawsuit filed Monday alleges.
The families of eight children previously enrolled at Washington Hebrew Congregation’s Edlavitch Tyser Early Childhood Center say the preschool and its leader, Deborah “DJ” Schneider Jensen, failed to protect students from a child sexual predator over a two-year period, according to the complaint.
The families allege Jordan Silverman, a teacher at the preschool, subjected numerous children, including their own, to “regular and systemic” sexual abuse beginning in March 2016. The lawsuit alleges the children were between ages 2 and 4 at the time of the abuse.
The 74-count complaint alleges the abuse, perpetrated against both male and female children, included the most “grievous, demeaning and damaging forms of sexual abuse.”
“Mr. Silverman categorically denies engaging in any inappropriate or illegal contact with children at Washington Hebrew Congregation,” his attorney, Shawn Sukumar, told HuffPost. He declined to comment further. Silverman has not been charged with a crime.
Metropolitan Police Department of the District of Columbia confirmed to CNN that an investigation into alleged sexual abuse of children at the school is currently ongoing.
Jensen, head of schools for Washington Hebrew Congregation, hired Silverman to teach at the preschool despite having no professional background in teaching or child care, the complaint alleges. Previously, he worked for 20 years as a photographer in Vermont, before moving to Bethesda, Maryland, according to the lawsuit.
Silverman was often alone with the preschoolers, the lawsuit alleges, even though child development centers in Washington are required to enforce a “two-deep policy,” which requires two adults to be present at all times if one or more children are present.
Good policy. Better policy - don't allow men to be in charge of small children.
The policy is “the number one deterrent of children being abused in an institutional setting,” Michael Dolce, the attorney representing the families, told HuffPost. “It’s a very effective way to guard against the unknown abuser.”
But Silverman was “allowed and encouraged” by school administrators to be alone with individual or small groups of children on an almost daily basis, according to the lawsuit.
Dolce would not describe specific aspects of the alleged abuse, citing the ongoing police investigation.
“Each child has required mental health professional intervention,” Dolce told HuffPost. “It’s just been incredibly difficult for the children involved.”
Parents and teachers reported concerns related to Silverman’s behavior as early as one month after he was hired, but Jensen took no action, the lawsuit alleges.
Jensen “ignored, rejected and purposefully silenced repeated warnings and expressions of concern, from parents and teachers alike, that Jordan Silverman might be engaged in inappropriate conduct towards children,” the complaint states.
The complaint continues: “The children who were abused are left to suffer with profound, grievous and debilitating mental health harm, with expected life-long and developmental adverse impact.”
Jensen remained head of schools for the synagogue as of Monday, though she has announced plans to leave at the end of the school year. Silverman was placed on administrative leave in August 2018 after a young child accused him of sexual abuse, according to a press release issued by Dolce’s law firm.
Washington Hebrew Congregation said in a statement that “child safety has always been our top priority,” indicating that it reported the allegations to the police after the August 2018 complaint.
“Although there has not been any arrest, these allegations are very troubling,” the synagogue said in its statement. “As a faith community, Washington Hebrew has supported and will continue to support its entire community as individuals grapple with how these allegations affect them and their families.”
Former Utah deputy fire chief sentenced
to prison for child sex abuse
Ashley Stilson Daily Herald
A former Ogden deputy fire chief will serve at least seven years in prison for sexually assaulting two young girls at his home in Provo more than three years ago.
Family members hugged and cried in the courtroom after Greg Chamberlain, 63, was sentenced to six years to life in prison for of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony.
He will also serve one to fifteen years in prison for forcible sexual abuse, a second-degree felony. Judge James Brady ordered the two sentences to run consecutively.
"He should’ve been held to a higher standard. He knew what he was doing was wrong, but selfishly did it for his own satisfaction," the mother of the girls said at the sentencing.
In July 2018, Springville officers arrested Chamberlain (8th story on link) after the mother reported that he sexually abused her two young daughters multiple times at his Provo home.
A 16-year-old girl said Chamberlain was giving her a back rub when he adjusted her clothing and started touching her inappropriately, charging documents reported.
At one point Chamberlain stayed overnight at the girl's home and the teenager woke up during the night to find Chamberlain rubbing her back. He then sexually assaulted her until she ran out of the room, according to court documents.
"She disclosed that on that occasion there were hand prints on her arms and legs where (Chamberlain) had held her down," charging documents state.
The teenager said she told Chamberlain to stop on multiple occasions and he reportedly said "I'm sorry, I just can't help myself," according to charges.
An 11-year-old girl also reported that Chamberlain had inappropriately touched her on at least three different occasions.
"No parent likes to see their child in pain and not be able to do anything about it," the mother said during the sentencing. "I can’t change the past, but I can help my girls move forward."
Chamberlain pleaded guilty to the charges on March 5. In exchange for the plea deal, three additional charges including forcible sodomy and object rape were dropped.
"I’m just really, really sorry. I don’t have any excuses," Chamberlain said at the sentencing.
He was handcuffed in the courtroom and taken into custody immediately after the sentencing.

Ryan Allen Will, 32, of Westminster was sentenced to 60 years in prison after he was convicted of several charges related to sex abuse of a child.
Judge Barry Hughes imposed the sentence during a sentencing hearing in the Circuit Court for Carroll County on Tuesday, April 16.
According to testimony during trial, the victim was 3 years old when Will began abusing her. It continued until she was 5, when she told her mother what had been happening. Her mother reported it to the Westminster Police Department, and a detective from the Carroll County Advocacy and Investigation Center launched an investigation.
Will was indicted on March 29, 2018 and convicted on Dec. 20, 2018.
The now-6-year-old victim testified during the trial. She said the sexual abuse occurred when her mother was working and Will was supposed to be caring for her, according to a news release from the Carroll County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Moms - please don't leave you children with boyfriends or any other man not their father.
Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Stephen Roscher asked for the maximum allowable sentence, with each count running consecutively.
Hughes sentenced Will to 30 years for sexual abuse of a minor — continuing course of conduct, 25 years for sexual abuse of a minor and five years for sodomy.
“The successful prosecution of a sexual child abuse case involving a young victim is very challenging. We are indebted to this six-year-old child victim whose bravery in testifying before the jury was critical in securing the conviction,” said Brian DeLeonardo, State’s Attorney for Carroll County in the release.
She is incredibly brave! So proud of you, girl! You probably saved a lot of other little girls from being hurt like you were.
He thanked Roscher and Detective Cory Vandegrift of the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office for their work in the case.
Virginia Beach man that impersonated police
sentenced for child pornography of 8 y/o
BY JULIA VARNIER
VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. – A Virginia Beach man was sentenced Tuesday to 27 years in prison for producing images of child sexual abuse of an 8-year-old victim.
Court documents say that 32-year-old Leedente Darrell Brown met dozens of young girls, including an 8-year-old, in real life and online, and had them produce child pornography for him and other sex offenders who were in group chat rooms with him.
Brown posed as a Virginia Beach Police Department officer to get the 8-year-old to send him sexually explicit pictures.
Contact with the 8-year-old included messages and phone calls through text and messaging phone apps, plus videos that were sexual in nature. He also visited the 8-year-old outside her home on several occasions.
Brown was discovered to be committing the crime when the mother of the 8-year-old victim saw a suspicious man outside her daughter’s window at their family’s home in Virginia Beach. This led the mother to call Virginia Beach Police, but Brown returned when she was on the phone with police dispatch.
The second encounter with Brown led the mother of the 8-year-old to check her daughter’s cellphone, which had received messages from Brown during this time.
The victim’s mother would reportedly find text conversations between Brown and her daughter. One message in which the 8-year-old told Brown to “Run,” when her mother saw the 31-year-old outside her window.
The 8-year-old victim reported that Brown told her not to tell anyone, and if she did, he would kill her. The 8-year-old also told police that she thought her and Brown were in a romantic relationship.
Brown reportedly also lied to the 8-year-old about his age, telling her that he was 21-years-old.
And this is happening all the time and in every country. There is no end to the number of perverted predators out there who are after our children - the younger the better.

Missouri man, 77, gets maximum sentence
after sexually abusing girl for years
Harrison Keegan, Springfield News-Leader
There was no senior discount Monday at the federal courthouse in Springfield.
Based on his crime, repeatedly sexually abusing a child, federal guidelines recommended George R. Pollock be sentenced to 30 years in prison.
Pollock is already 77-years-old, so his attorney asked for a downward variance — 15 years in prison.
Judge Brian Wimes was not interested in any breaks.
"Certain kinds of acts deserve certain kinds of punishment," Wimes said before sentencing Pollock to the maximum 30 years in prison.
Court documents say Pollock repeatedly sexually abused a girl at his home in rural Greene County starting when she was 12 and continuing for almost a decade.
The victim told authorities Pollock abused her more than 100 times.
Prosecutors say Pollock also "memorialized the crimes" by making child porn with the victim. They say he also frequently viewed child porn involving other victims on the internet.
Pollock started committing these acts when he was in his 60s, but Assistant U.S. Attorney Ami Miller said Pollock's age didn't make the crimes any different and shouldn't affect his sentence.
"A significant sentence is necessary to show the community these types of crimes will not be tolerated," Miller said.
In addition to the prison time, Judge Wimes ordered Pollock to pay restitution to some of the victims of the child porn he viewed.
Pollock had pleaded guilty in April to sexual exploitation of a child. He addressed the judge briefly on Monday and apologized for his actions.

Child Sex Abuse Case
By Daniel Hampton, Patch National Staff
PINEVILLE, LA — A 71-year-old Pineville man faces 100 counts of rape charges dating to the 1970s and 1980s. Harvey Joseph Fountain was arrested last week after deputies with the Rapides Parish Sheriff's Office learned of possible child sexual abuse in the area.
Initial reports were that Fountain, of the 300 block of Bragg Street, sexually abused kids while living in various places in the Pineville area, authorities said in a release. The abuse began in the early 1970s and continued through the early 1980s.
Investigators found evidence supporting the initial reports and arrested Fountain on 50 counts of 1st-degree rape. On Tuesday, April 9, Fountain was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rapides Parish Detention Center, authorities said. His bond was set at $500,000.
While jailed, investigators learned of more victims, authorities said. He was arrested again Friday on 50 more counts of 1st-degree rape and again jailed on the new charges. Online court records showed Fountain remains jailed on $1 million bond. Attorney information wasn't immediately available.
An investigation remains ongoing. More arrests are possible.

Brooklyn elementary teacher charged with
sexual abuse of 11-year-old female student
By Eyewitness News
EAST FLATBUSH, Brooklyn (WABC) -- An elementary school teacher in Brooklyn was arrested for allegedly sexually abusing an 11-year-old female student.
Police say 29-year-old Daniel Santiago, who worked at the Brooklyn Science and Engineering Academy in Flatbush, is charged with sex abuse and acting in a manner to injure a child under 17.
He had been abusing the girl since February, police said, accused of touching and sending inappropriate text messages and pictures to the victim.
According to prosecutors, Santiago first touched the girl inappropriately on board a school bus during a class trip to an unspecified location, when he is accused of touching her chest. Then, on the return trip, he allegedly sat next to the girl and slipped his hands into her pants and touched her genitalia, and she touched his genitals.
In at least one other instance, they allegedly touched one another in similar ways in the school. Santiago is also accused of having inappropriate text message exchanges that included photographs.
Prosecutors say the relationship was uncovered when the girl's cousin found the text exchanges on the girl's cellphone.
"How are you not watching your teachers?" parent Kiyanna Warren said. "This is really concerning, especially an 11-year-old."
Santiago is married with an infant child. His wife attended with their child in her arms, and they left court without comment.
"He should be cooked up," parent Lisa Williams said. "He should go to jail and lose his license and everything. If he has kids, he should know better than that."
The Department of Education released a statement Monday saying, This teacher was immediately reassigned away from the classroom when we were made aware of this disturbing allegation. We'll seek to remove him from payroll as quickly as possible while the investigation is pending.
Santiago was arraigned, and an order of protection was granted for the 11-year-old, identified as the complaining witness.
Bail was set at $75,000.
