Kentucky man guilty of sex abuse after victim testifies.
'This child was brave,' prosecutor says
Max Londberg, Cincinnati Enquirer
A Northern Kentucky man was convicted Thursday on multiple counts of child sexual abuse of a victim under the age of 10.
Jeremy C. Breeden, 41, was found guilty of sodomy and two counts of sexual abuse.
The jury spent 10 minutes to recommend that Breeden, who lived in Bromley, face the maximum possible sentence: life.
The jury recommended life in prison for the sodomy conviction and 10 years for each count of sexual abuse.
Breeden's trial included testimony from the now-9-year-old victim, who Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney Rob Sanders called courageous.
"This child was brave, as brave as the child was honest, and just a fantastic witness," Sanders said in a statement.
The child testified that about a year ago, Breeden committed the crimes when the child slept over at his house.
The child eventually told a parent. Breeden texted the parent and implored her to not report him to police, saying he would apologize to the child, help the child heal and rebuild the child's trust, according to the Kenton County Commonwealth's Attorney's Office.
"Jeremy Breeden’s own attempts to talk the child’s mother out of calling the police ultimately secured his conviction," Sanders said. "The defendant smugly thought his words would convince this mother not to turn him in, but he thought very wrong because she was a ferocious advocate for her baby."
Breeden will be sentenced in May. In Kentucky, life sentences are eligible for parole after 20 years.
If Breeden is one day released, he must register as a sex offender and would remain on parole for life.
Prison Sentence For NY Man For Child Sex Abuse
By Michael Woyton, Patch Staff
OSSINING, NY — An Ossining man was sentenced to state prison for sexually abusing a child.
Westchester County District Attorney Anthony A. Scarpino jr. said Friday Luis Antonio Araujo-Cada, 35, will be going to prison for four years for second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a felony.
He appeared for sentencing before Westchester County Court Judge Susan Cacace Tuesday.
Araujo-Cada pleaded guilty in February to sexually abusing a 12-year-old girl whom he knew.
Authorities said he engaged in sexual acts with the child over a nine-month period.
4 years for 9 months of CSA on a 12 y/o, seems pretty soft to me. The girl will still be a child when he gets out. That's not very fair to the victim.
He was arrested Nov. 6 and was arraigned the same day.
In addition to the prison term, the judge sentenced him to 10 years post-release supervision. Upon release, he must register as a sex offender.

Francis’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 15.
Former Maryland State Trooper facing
sex abuse of minor charges
Brian Murphy was given three years' probation in 2008 for child porn
By: Fareeha Rehman

Ohio man sentenced for child sex-offenses

A West Toledo man avoided a prison sentence Friday based on his commitment to treatment for child sex-related offenses, a Lucas County Common Pleas Court judge said.
Antonio Ramos, 24, of the 4200 block of Burnham Avenue previously entered a no-contest plea to importuning, a fifth-degree felony, and gross sexual imposition, a third-degree felony, for separate offenses involving a 13-year-old he targeted on social media and for inappropriately touching an 8-year-old boy he met through Cedar Creek Church, assistant county prosecutor Will Dailey said.
He was sentenced Friday by Judge Joseph McNamara to 30 days in a work-release facility followed by 30 days on an electronic monitoring unit. He will then be placed on five years of supervised community control.
As conditions of his community control, Ramos is not to have contact with the victims or any children. He is also supposed to complete sexual behavior treatment, and is banned from using social media or consuming alcohol.
While the judge could not forbid Ramos to attend church, he was ordered to not attend the church the victim attends. Whatever church Ramos does attend, he must inform the pastor of the violation and he must tell that pastor that he is required to stay away from children, the judge ordered.
Ramos will also be classified as a Tier I sex offender — requiring him to register annually at the sheriff’s office.
If he violates community control, he faces up to six years in prison.
Ramos’ attorney, John McMahon, told Judge McNamara his client had personal issues dating back to when he was a young child, and those issues possibly had bearing on the case. Judge McNamara said he acknowledged the issue, but he said he wanted to end the cycle of abuse so it is not continually passed down from abuser to abused.
“You had something very bad happen to you when you were young. I acknowledge that. It probably affected your psyche and created very dangerous sexual urges. While maybe it’s not your fault that you had those urges, it is your fault that you act out on them,” Judge McNamara said.
While Ramos indicated he is seeking counseling, the judge recommended he stay in counseling for the remainder of his life so he’s not put in a “position where you’re going to harm another child.”
“The most important thing is that you get treatment and we stop this cycle of abuse from continuing,” Judge McNamara said.
While the 8-year-old victim wrote a letter to Judge McNamara, no victims or victims’ family members were present to give statements on Friday.
“I just want to say I did it and I am very sorry for this, for what I did to these two people, these innocent people,” Ramos told Judge McNamara. “I just hope you give me a chance to prove to you that I’m not that person, I’m not.”
Mr. McMahon said his client was nervous for the hearing, as Ramos often clenched his hands together and swayed back and forth.
On Aug. 15, Ramos offered to give the 13-year-old boy $50 to give the teen a back rub, though the prosecutor said Ramos later admitted to police it was really to watch Ramos masturbate.
Additionally, Mr. Dailey said Ramos gained the trust of the 8-year-old boy’s mother through church and offered to babysit the boy. Between March 1, 2018, and July 1, Ramos and the boy undressed and Ramos rubbed the victim’s arms, stuck utensils in his mouth, and touched his genitalia, prosecutors said.
Illinois High School teacher charged
with sexual assault of child
CALA SMOLDT
ALEDO — Mark R. Artcher, 60, a Mercer County High School social sciences teacher, has been charged with two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child, class X felonies.
Artcher was arrested at 2:30 p.m. Thursday, April 25, at a local hospital, where he was undergoing treatment, according to a press release from the Illinois State Police.
Following his release, he will be taken into custody at the Mercer County Jail, the release said. Friday morning, Artcher remained in the hospital, and no appearance had been scheduled.
Charges allege that, "on or about April 6, 2019 ... said defendant grabbed the buttock of (victim) with his hand, for sexual gratification."
The second count alleges that "on or about March and April 2019," the suspect "placed his hand on the vagina of (victim) for the purpose of sexual gratification.”
Each of the two counts names a separate child under 13 years old.
A statement from Mercer County School District Superintendent Scott Petrie said Artcher was placed on leave on April 24 "after it was made aware by local law enforcement of a situation involving allegations of child abuse.
“An investigation by DCFS (Department of Children and Family Services), multiple law enforcement agencies, and the Mercer County State's Attorney is ongoing. The District is cooperating fully in this matter. Given the active status of the investigation, the district cannot comment any further on this personnel issue,” the statement said.
Petrie said Artcher began teaching in the Aledo district in the 1989-90 school year.
Class X felonies are punishable by six to 30 years in prison.
The investigation was conducted by Illinois State Police investigators with the assistance of the Aledo Police Department, the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office and the Moline Police Department, according to the press release.
“The investigation is currently open and ongoing. Additional charges are anticipated upon review by the Mercer County State’s Attorney,” according to the press release.

Crawford was first arrested in September 2018 in Haskell.

A California fugitive wanted on child sexual abuse
is found living in the Keys
BY GWEN FILOSA
People on the lam must love South Florida. Once again, an out-of-state fugitive wanted for a violent crime has been found living in the Florida Keys.
Jason David Adams, 39, of California, had been recently living in the 2400 block of Palm Beach Road on Big Pine Key, about 30 miles north of Key West.
He fled from an arrest warrant issued in Sacramento, California, that accuses him of sexually abusing a 10-year-old, deputies said.
The warrant was issued on April 19 and charges Adams with lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14, said Monroe sheriff’s spokesman Adam Linhardt.
After being tipped off by the FBI that Adams was likely in the Keys, Monroe deputies found Adams at a construction site Thursday morning. He was arrested without incident. Adams was booked into the Stock Island Detention Center and is being held without bond.
“He will be returned to California to face the charges,” Linhardt said.
Adams joins a list of fugitives found in the Keys this year.
In March, Donald Myotte was nabbed while illegally camping in Key West. He was wanted in Massachusetts on two counts of sexual assault on a disabled person.
In February, a Georgia man who violated his probation for child molestation by leaving his hometown was caught hiding out in the Lower Florida Keys.
William Sabec, 29, was arrested on two warrants from two different county judges in Georgia. Monroe County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested him in February at a bar on Big Pine. That arrest marked the fourth out-of-state fugitive arrested by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office in as many days.
After two decades, Michael Eugene Moore, a fugitive featured on “America’s Most Wanted”, was captured after a three-hour standoff in Palm Coast, south of Jacksonville, on January 26, 2019. He was accused of stabbing his wife 33 times in 1996.
Georgia man gets time-served for keeping teen sex slave
in dog cage and violent sex
By Gabrielle Fonrouge
Michael Wysolovski, 33, got credit Thursday for the eight months he has already spent in jail while charged with first-degree cruelty to children and interstate interference with custody — and will be allowed to remain out on probation for the rest of his 10-year-sentence, The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported.
The victim, who clutched a stuffed animal and spoke in a soft voice during his sentencing, detailed her fear of showering and rain because of “water torture” she claimed to have endured. She called her “spirit” and “sense of self” “irreparably broken” and said she now constantly checks locks in an obsessive way to ensure she is safe.
“The psychological damage Michael Wysolovski inflicted is beyond imagination,” the victim said.
Wysolovski, who must register as a sex offender, was cuffed back in June 2017 when FBI agents and local police discovered a 17-year-old North Carolina girl inside his home who’d been missing for more than a year.
Wysoloski's victim
The girl was malnourished, had ringworm and was suffering from back issues she developed after she was repeatedly kept in a dog cage, her father said in a victim impact statement, according to the outlet.
Wysolovski met the girl on an anorexia forum online when she was just 15-years-old when she told the man, who is about twice her age, that she was unhappy at her home.
Predators are always looking for that vulnerability.
He convinced her to come live with him and when she was 16, she walked 3 miles from her Charlotte home and met up with him on the side of a freeway.
Wysolovski convinced the girl to act out rape scenes with him in a “consensual non-consensual” relationship that’s common in BDSM (bondage, domination, submission, masochism) couples but that typically come with very strict guidelines on what’s allowed, what’s not and a safe word that can be used when the play becomes too much or gets dangerous.
At 16, was the girl into BDSM, or did the creep introduce her to it? It appears to be the latter, but, disgustingly, it is not a crime, apparently to introduce children to perversion.
Prosecutors said Wysolovski started to violate the terms of their agreement over time where he refused to use the safe word and used “excessive force” like biting and other physical violence.
While the victim, who’s anorexic, originally encouraged Wysolovski to control her eating habits, which included keeping a daily journal of how many calories she consumed, he later used food as punishment and would only feed her if she agreed to sex acts.
In Georgia, the age of consent is 16, so Wysolovski could not be charged with child molestation or similar child sex abuse charges and could only be charged with child cruelty, which can be used for crimes against someone 17 and under.
Wysolovski pleaded guilty to the child cruelty charge because he caused “excessive physical pain during sexual intercourse,” officials said.
Prosecutor Michael DeTardo said the nature of the suspect’s relationship with the victim was in a “gray area” of consent due to the kinky nature of their sex acts and Georgia’s age of consent. He said getting a rape conviction would be risky if it went before a jury.
The victim’s family and DeTardo said a lifetime sex offender registration was a priority and Wysolovski’s attorney refused to accept a plea deal that included prison time, which led prosecutors to accept the deal with only time served.
The victim and the family also didn’t want to go through a trial, which would’ve been re-traumatizing, they said.
Someone needs to study this theory. Is it likely to be re-traumatising to have to testify at the trial of your abuser, or is it likely to have a more positive outcome. So many survivors say that speaking out was the best thing they could have done. But, perhaps, that was after some years and when they were ready. Perhaps recent trauma is best left buried in the recesses of the mind for awhile. It would be nice to see some research on this subject.
Wysolovski tried to say that he was helping the young woman escape a bad home situation but the judge shot back at him saying he didn’t see an ounce of remorse for his crimes.
“I can’t see even the most twisted definition of what you did as help,” Gwinnett County Superior Court Judge Timothy Hamil said.

Illinois man charged with possession of
child pornography, sexual assault
BELLEVILLE, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- An Illinois man is facing additional charges Friday stemming from his sexual abuse of two minors, police say.
The St. Clair County State Attorney's office originally charged 51-year-old Richard Engelke Jr. with seven counts of possession of child pornography in March.
The charges came after Engelke was a person of interest in an ongoing investigation into child sexual assault allegations.
Engelke is facing an additional count of child pornography and five counts of predatory criminal sexual assault.
These charges come after further investigation into his alleged sexual assault of two minors who were under the age of 13 at the time of the assault. These victims were acquaintances of Engelke, and were known by the sheriff's department at the time of the original charges.
Engelke, of Belleville Illinois, is in custody at the St. Clair County Jail with a bond of $500,000.
The St. Clair County Sheriff's Department believes all victims have been identified, however, they continue to ask that adults with concerns about a minor having unsupervised contact with Engelke reach out to investigator Keeney at 618-825-5309.
Former Kansas YMCA worker sentenced
for child sex abuse at center
By: Associated Press
WICHITA, Kan. - A former worker at the Wichita YMCA was sentenced to 27½ years in prison for sexually assaulting two young children.
22-year-old Caleb Gaston was sentenced Friday. He pleaded no contest in February to two counts of rape.
Authorities say in January 2018, Gaston sexually abused a 3-year-old and a 4-year-old in his care at the YMCA branch's Kid Zone. Police arrested him after the 4-year-old girl reported that he had hit her and then touched her inappropriately.
KAKE-TV reports that before sentencing, Gaston apologized and said he had never had legal troubles until he became convicted to drugs.
Before the YMCA incidents, Gaston was fired from another day care job after complaints he had inappropriately touched children. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment couldn't substantiate the allegation.
Drug addictions are responsible for some of the most horrific crimes against children, often committed by a parent or parents.
Again I say - men should never be hired to look after little children. Those that do should be held in great suspicion.
Only 6 weeks out of prison, Washington State man
again is accused of sex trafficking a teen girl
BY KRISTIN M. KRAEMER
Tri-City Herald
A Tri-Cities man released from prison six weeks ago is back behind bars on allegations he gave money and drugs to a second teen girl in exchange for sex.
Jesus Rodriguez, 27, just finished serving a one-year, nine-month term for similar charges involving a different girl.
The new charges are for a crime in late 2016 and early 2017, though a federal grand jury just indicted him on the allegations last week. That is the same time frame for the Benton County Superior Court case that sent him to prison.
Documents from the older case show that, Rodriguez “reached out to several other younger-aged females randomly within the Moses Lake and Tri-Cities areas.” The girls all were strangers to him and may have been befriended through Facebook.
Rodriguez was investigated at the time by the Kennewick and Moses Lake police departments and the FBI, documents show.
SEX TRAFFICKING AND CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
Rodriguez was arrested Thursday while at work, and immediately was taken to U.S. District Court in Richland.
Magistrate Judge Mary K. Dimke entered a “not guilty” plea on his behalf to three felony counts: online enticement of a minor to engage in illegal sexual activity, child sex trafficking and receipt of child pornography.
Rodriguez, whose nickname is “Chewy,” was ordered held by the U.S. Marshals Service until he has a detention hearing next week. He was booked into the Benton County jail just before 3 p.m. as a contract inmate.
The indictment does not give any details about the new case, other than to say he allegedly enticed and trafficked the girl in December 2017, and the following month received pictures of minor children engaged in sexually explicit conduct.
If convicted in federal court, he faces at least 10 years and up to life in prison for the online enticement and child sex trafficking charges. The child pornography charge carries a sentence of 5 to 20 years.
In the prior state case, the teen girl disclosed that she had been picked at random on Facebook by Rodriguez, and the two primarily chatted through the social media site and its Messenger app.
He was 25 at the time.
SEX FOR MONEY AND THC
Their conversations revolved around sex for money and for THC, a cannabis extract, and Rodriguez’s requests for nude photos of the girl, according to court documents.
Several meetings were arranged, and Rodriguez would pick her up in his truck so the two could have sex, documents said. He paid her $120 on one occasion.
Kennewick police Detective Rick Runge was assigned the case and, with the girl’s permission, started posing as the teen on her Facebook and Facebook Messenger accounts to communicate with Rodriguez.
They scheduled another date in early February 2017. But that time, Rodriguez was met by officers and a police dog in the parking lot of a Kennewick store.
He had a 9mm gun in a holster on his truck’s dashboard when arrested, court documents said. There was no round in the chamber, but the magazine did have 13 rounds, documents said.
Rodriguez was charged in February 2017 with commercial sex abuse of a minor and sexual exploitation of a minor. The exploitation charge was dismissed a year later as part of a plea agreement.
‘I HOPE YOU CAN ... MOVE ON’
When interviewed for a presentencing report, Rodriguez denied knowing the girl was underage until after he was charged and received information in court. He got married a couple months after his arrest while out on bail.
Asked by the community corrections officer if he had anything to say to the teen victim, Rodriguez answered: “I am sorry I did what I did and I hope you can find a way to redirect your life and move on.”
Ross Esparza, the community corrections officer, noted that Rodriguez had to be asked several times before giving that answer, at which point he did not appear to have sincere remorse.
However, Rodriguez said he wanted to apologize to the community because what he did was wrong and he knows he made a mistake, the report said.
‘DEVIANT SEXUAL APPETITE’
“He also wanted it noted that he was taking full responsibility for his actions and behaviors and that he appeared in court and did not run from the charges he was facing, as he states facing them and dealing with them will help him learn and grow as a person and to finally move on with his life,” Esparza wrote. “He showed no ill will towards the legal system.”
The report also said that Rodriguez claimed to be working on making himself a better person as “he was lost in many aspects of his life and reached out of his inhibitions while engaging in this behavior.”
But Esparza added that Rodriguez’s behavior of befriending many young girls on Facebook was “predatory in nature in demonstrating his desires to satisfy his deviant sexual appetite.”
Rodriguez was sentenced in March 2018.
A state Department of Corrections official on Thursday told the Herald that Rodriguez was released from prison March 11, and currently is being supervised out of the Kennewick area. His sentence includes three years on community custody.
