Charges were filed in 1st District Court on Wednesday against a Layton woman accused of sexually abusing a child in 2009.

Mariah Keisha Butler, 28, faces one count of aggravated sexual abuse of a child and one count of attempted aggravated sexual abuse of a child. Both charges are first-degree felonies and are alleged to have happened in Cache County in October and November of 2009.

Butler faces 15 years to life in prison if convicted.

Butler is currently incarcerated in the Davis County Jail on 10 counts of second-degree sexual exploitation of a minor. According to documents filed in the 2nd District Court, the FBI along with state agencies executed a search warrant at Butler’s home. On her phone, according to documents, they found “at least 10 videos and images of child rape.” According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the FBI had identified Butler on a social media application commonly used for the sexual exploitation of children.

Butler allegedly admitted to police of sexually exploiting children and was arrested by the Layton Police Department on Feb. 26.

An initial appearance for the charges in Cache County has yet to be scheduled.

Idaho Falls man arrested after admitting to child sex abuse
By JOHNATHAN HOGAN jhogan@postregister.com

An Idaho Falls man has been arrested after he reportedly admitted to sexually assaulting a teenage girl three times.

Tyler Meng, 26, came under investigation after Facebook tipped off the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force that he had exchanged sexual messages with the victim.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Meng offered the victim a vape device in exchange for the sexual abuse. The victim said she met Meng through a friend in February 2019.

The victim's friend reportedly told Meng and Ian Brown, another man at the residence, that the victim was 19 years old. The victim told police that she informed them she was 14 years at the time and that Meng knew about her age.

Brown was arrested in October after his parole officer discovered he had exchanged sexual messages with the same victim. Brown has since pleaded guilty to rape and is scheduled to be sentenced on May 18.

The victim said Meng did not force himself on her. Under Idaho law a minor cannot consent to sex with an adult more than three years older. Sex between a minor and an adult is a crime by the adult.

The victim said after the initial sexual assault there was another incident where Meng had a friend drive her to his residence. She said Meng made several attempts to contact her through Facebook, but that she typically ignored him.

Meng admitted to sexually assaulting the victim when interviewed by police on March 17. He said he knew the victim was a minor at the time.

Meng has been charged with lewd conduct with a minor, punishable with up to life in prison. His bond was set at $25,000 and a no-contact order was issued between him and the victim.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. April 29 in the Bonneville County Courthouse.

Ammon, Id, man arrested after parole officer discovers sex abuse of minor

By JOHNATHAN HOGAN jhogan@postregister.com

An Ammon man has been arrested after he reportedly had sex with an underage girl.

Ian Lynn Brown, 27, admitted to the sexual contact after an interrogation by an Idaho Falls Police Department detective.

According to the probable cause affidavit, Brown told the detective he walked five miles while under house arrest to meet with the 15-year-old victim in Idaho Falls. Court records show he was on parole for felony forgery.

The interaction was discovered by Brown's parole officer. When the officer checked Brown's phone, he discovered sexual text messages between Brown and the victim.

Law enforcement interviewed the victim who initially denied any sexual contact, but then said they had met up for sex. She underwent a sexual assault examination at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center.

Neither Brown or the victim described the sex as forced. Under Idaho law, sexual contact between a minor and an adult more than three years older than the victim is a crime by the adult and can be charged as rape or a sex crime against children.

The detective scheduled a forensic examination with the victim. However, the victim and her mother did not appear for the appointment and did not respond to phone calls or text messages from the detective.

Brown first denied having sex with the victim, saying he had just gone to meet with her. After an interview, he admitted to having sex with the victim.

Brown was charged with lewd conduct with a child under 16 years of age, punishable with up to life in prison. His bond was set at $50,000 and a no-contact order was issued between him and the victim. If convicted, Brown will be required to register as a sex offender.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Oct. 16 in the Bonneville County Courthouse.

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. — A Pontoon Beach man is facing charges for sexually assaulting a child who was living with him over the course of nearly two years.

Kevin Tayon, 46, is charged with five felony counts of predatory criminal sexual assault against a child.

The alleged abuse happened while the child was temporarily living with him between June 1, 2016, and April 1, 2018, a release from the Madison County State's Attorney's Office said.

The victim, who is now 10, would have been between 7 and 8 years old at the time.

The abuse was revealed after the child returned from living with Tayon. Charges were filed after an investigation by the Pontoon Beach Police Department and interviews conducted by the Madison County Child Advocacy Center.

A no-contact order with the child is in place for Tayon, who is being held at the Madison County Jail on a $1,000,000 bond. It convicted, Tayon faces a maximum sentence of 60 years for each count.

"Let us recognize and support the courage of every young victim who comes forward about the heinous acts perpetrated on them," First Assistant State’s Attorney Crystal Uhe said in the release.

"While there is nothing we can do to erase the memories of sexual abuse for child victims, it is the will of our office to seek the maximum penalty and ultimate justice for the young victims of these horrible crimes.”

Aurora, Ill, Man Sentenced to 15 Years for Sexual Assault, Abuse of Children

An Aurora man was sentenced to 15 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for sexually assaulting and abusing children.

Kane County Court records show 38 year-old Jose Baca of Maple St. recently agreed to the sentence in exchange for a guilty plea on felony charges of Predatory Criminal Sexual Assault of a Child and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse.

The sentence is eight years for the Class X felony and seven years for the Class 2 felony to be served consecutive to one another.

Kane County prosecutors had argued in court that between March 2011 and March 2018, Baca sexually assaulted and sexually abused two victims.

Prosecutors said Baca knew the victims, who both were younger than 13 years old when the crimes began.

Baca must serve at least 85 percent of the eight-year sentence and is eligible for day-for-day sentencing on the seven-year sentence.

In addition to the prison term, Baca must register for life as a sex offender. He receives credit for 723 days served in the Kane County jail.

So, lucky him; he could be out in 5 years. How disgusting!

Cape Coral, Fla, man faces possession charges of multiple images of child sexual abuse

Kaitlin Greenockle, Fort Myers News-Press

A Cape Coral man was arrested and charged April 6 after police received a cyber tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, which showed about 40 uploaded images depicting child sexual abuse.

Darwin Schnitzler, 57, was charged with possession of multiple images of child pornography and was released from Lee County jail after paying bond.

In July, Detective Nicholas Malone with the Cape Coral Police Department received the tip and conducted an extensive investigation which resulted in numerous subpoenas, warrants and work hours, according to a police news release.

Through the investigation Schnitzler was identified as the owner of the email accounts that held these images. Police seized all electronic devices located at his property and a forensic exam of Schnitzler's cell phone showed the same images reported in the tip, according to an affidavit of probable cause.

During a police interview, Schnitzler confirmed the email addresses were his, but said "he didn't recall any of those photos." He said he could have been into that stuff "back then," but said he doesn't remember, the affidavit states.

One of the accounts had been accessed as recently as June.

Schnitzler has a court hearing scheduled for May 11.

Coastal Bend, Tx, are now behind bars
Author: KIII Staff

The first man is 73-year-old Antonio Andrade. He was arrested by Sinton police on charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child and the continuous sexual abuse of a young child. It was back on February 27th when a child had been interviewed by investigators who said the abuse had been going on since the child was in 4th grade.

It would be nice to know what grade the child is in now, if they are still in school.

Meanwhile in Alice, the police department arrested 41 year old Jorge Gonzalez on two counts of the sexual assault of a child. This after 2 women told investigators that Gonzales had sexually assaulted them when they were younger. Alice police chief Ron Davis says his investigators were able to gather enough evidence in the case to make an arrest over the accusations.

Grand jury indicts DeKalb, Tx, woman for child sex abuse

By Field Walsh, TXK

A Bowie County grand jury indicted a woman Thursday for the alleged sexual abuse of a 12-year-old girl.

Angel Sunshine Chavez, 25, of DeKalb, Texas, allegedly molested the girl while she was visiting Bowie County in the summer of 2019, according to a probable cause affidavit. The girl told a forensic interviewer in October that she and Chavez became “close” when she spent a few nights with her in July 2019.

Chavez was allegedly a friend of the girl’s mother. Chavez allegedly performed a sex act on the girl and showered with the girl.

Chavez has been charged with aggravated sexual assault of a child. If convicted she faces five to 99 years or life in prison.

Chavez is currently free on a $100,000 bond.

Bethalto, Ill, woman who sexually abused children with her husband sentenced to 75 years
BY HANA MUSLIC

A woman who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing children with her husband in their Bethalto home has been sentenced for the crimes.

Andrea S. Leisgang, 38, was sentenced to 75 years in prison on March 20 after pleading guilty on Feb. 5 to one count of criminal sexual assault and one count of predatory criminal sexual assault, a news release from Madison County State’s Attorney Tom Gibbons’ office stated Tuesday.

Andrea Leisgang was indicted in December 2018 with nine counts of criminal sexual assault and six counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child. She and her husband, Jeremy Leisgang, were accused of sexually assaulting three girls and one boy at their home beginning in 2016.

Jeremy Leisgang was charged with 15 counts of criminal sexual assault and 11 counts of predatory criminal sexual assault of a child at the time. He pleaded guilty in October to four counts of criminal sexual assault and was sentenced to 40 years in prison.

According to the release, Andrea Leisgang was only charged for the hands-on acts she committed against two of the four victims her husband was charged with abusing. During pre-trial motions, however, evidence came out to show she had knowledge of the acts perpetrated against the other two children.

How does that work? He sexually abused 4 children; she sexually abused 2 children, but knew about the other two, so she gets almost twice the sentence he gets. Can someone explain the logic in that to me?

The plea agreement was reached after consultation with the victims and their families, the release stated.

Andrea Leisgang will also have to register as a sex offender for life. She filed for divorce from Jeremy Leisgang in October 2018.

Fitz, the Madison County Courthouse facility dog, accompanied the victims during court proceedings, the release stated.

“The children in this case connected with Fitz very early and were always excited to see him,” the release stated. “During the sentencing hearing, Fitz sat with the children before and after they gave their victim impact statements detailing the physical and mental pain they endured because of the cruel actions of the defendant.”

Also present at the hearing were the Bikers Against Child Abuse, who, according to the release, provided physical and emotional support to the victims who were present in court.
