Those Suffering the Most in This Pandemic Are Being Completely Ignored

Online child abuse rising dramatically during lockdown warn police
No-one seems to be doing anything about it
BBC

Rescued: A young child recovered from an online abuse gang in the Philippines, during lockdown

Dozens of reports of increased child sexual abuse because of the Covid19 lockdown are being ignored by most governments around the world. Why, because children have no voice; they don't vote; they don't follow politics; they don't read newspapers; and most politicians and journalists have no idea how much of this horror is happening all around them. Worst of all - they don't want to know! The children are ignored and left to survive on their own. The few stories that make the news are a tiny peak of a huge iceberg.

Police forces across the world are warning that criminals and paedophiles are using the coronavirus lockdown to target children.

Data gathered by the BBC reveals demand for abuse imagery has shot up.

Reports of obscene online material more than doubled globally to more than four million between March and April.

The US-based Center for Missing and Exploited Children said some of that rise related to one especially horrific and widely-circulated video.

In the UK, where 300,000 people are considered a threat to children, there were nearly nine million attempts in the last month to access child sexual abuse websites which had been previously blocked by the Internet Watch Foundation.

The anti-child abuse charity which reports sites to internet service providers, says that since the lockdown began there has been an 89% drop in site deletions by the tech companies.

It believes this may be because many of these firms have fewer people staffing their hotlines during the pandemic.

Why? It's not like they can't do it from home; it's a tech company!

Spanish National Police say reports of online child sex videos leapt by just over 20% since just before the lockdown there began on 13 March.

Their counterparts in Denmark revealed the number of attempts to access child abuse websites has trebled.

With most schools closed, children are spending more time online. Experts say that puts them at greater risk of grooming for sexual abuse.

Cathal Delaney of Europol told the BBC: "Children are more vulnerable, they're isolated, they're not being as well supervised online and they're spending more time online during this period than they would have previously.

Dark web surge
"Those conditions lend themselves to children being approached in different ways or coerced or exploited."

Online abuse viewers who feed violence have been caught in Australia

Demand for abuse imagery has also shot up in Australia, where police say the downloading leapt by 86% in the three weeks after the 21 March lockdown.

Commander Paula Hudson of the Australian Federal Police, said many offenders see the pandemic as an ideal opportunity to target children. "Across the dark web we've actually identified Covid-19-themed child exploitation forums," said Cdr Hudson.

"One particular one we're monitoring has grown by more than 1,000 members. They're actively discussing the Covid opportunity to find more victims."

Many of those arrested in the Philippines are related to the victims

"The internet traffic is so heavy that we've been finding that dark web systems are crashing."

Real world abuse

Many child abuse videos commissioned to order by paedophiles are made in the Philippines, where children are trafficked by abuse rings.

The children who are held captive by the gangs are subjected to appalling violence on camera. These attacks are live-streamed to paying customers in western nations, including the UK.

Officials in the Philippines say reports of online abuse material have soared - from approximately 59,000 in February to more than 101,000 in March, the month that the country's coronavirus lockdown began.

The International Justice Mission (IJM), a global organisation that works in the Philippines, says half of the children rescued from abuse gangs are 12 years old or younger - and it has come across two victims who were babies less than three-months-old.

Earlier this month, police in the country intercepted one gang and took three children into care, the youngest of whom was just six. Detectives suspect they may have been forced to take part in live-streamed abuse videos.

A 34-year-old woman arrested in the operation was the mother of two of the allegedly abused children. This is consistent with IJM research that found two-thirds of abuses are either parents or close relatives of the victims.

Child abusers already face life terms in the Philippines - and some legislators are proposing changing the law to introduce the death penalty.

Advice for parents, carers and children
The National Crime Agency in the UK has created the 'ThinkuKnow' website
It has advice for parents and others working with children on how best to protect them online.
The website includes advice written for children themselves
It's received more than 250,000 hits since the pandemic began

But Emmeline Villar, under-secretary at the country's Department of Justice, warned adults are being lured into the online child sex abuse industry because work is hard to find in the pandemic-hit economy.

"It's a grave concern to us," she said. "Especially as we know that these factors that are present right now, because of the lockdown, are contributing to the situation which would allow both the demand and supply to increase."

The hope is that as the lockdown eases in countries across the world and schools reopen, the risks to children will drop.

But for those who have fallen victim to abusers the road to recovery can be long and painful.

Ruby from the Philippines endured two months of non-stop sexual abuse, live-streamed to western men, before she was finally rescued by police.

"It's like being trapped in a dark room without any rays of light at all," she said. "There's no point of living at all. They made my life so miserable for years. How much more will I suffer from the damage they did to me?"

‘Most vile and horrific case’: Princeton, WVi, woman sentenced in child sexual assault trial

By GREG JORDAN Bluefield Daily Telegraph

PRINCETON — A woman who pleaded guilty last year to first-degree sexual assault, sexual abuse and incest involving videos of a child subjected to sexual acts learned Wednesday that she will be 88 years old before she’s eligible for parole.

Elizabeth Haway, 43, of Princeton was brought before Mercer County Circuit Court Judge William Sadler for sentencing. Haway pleaded guilty in December 2019 to two counts first-degree sexual assault, two counts first-degree sexual abuse, two counts sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person of trust, and incest.

The case started on April 2, 2018 when Detective-Sergeant Steve Sommers, with the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office, responded to a cyber tip that was received from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children involving the distribution of child pornography through Facebook Messenger.

In a criminal complaint, Sommers stated that he reviewed the video file and it showed an adult male engaging in a sexual act with a prepubescent female child. Sommers also found graphic messages between Haway and another Facebook user, according to the complaint. He then obtained and served a search warrant on Facebook, compelling them to disclose Facebook records for Haway.

“As I searched her Facebook records further, I found two video files that were approximately 3 minutes and 21 seconds (each) in length that had been sent to another Facebook user,” Sommers stated in the complaint. After viewing the video file that included audio, he saw that it showed an adult female with the prepubescent female engaging in sexual acts.

“I estimated the age of the child to be between 5 and 6 years of age,” Sommers said in the report. “I also observed that the bathtub had distinct cracking of the molding at the wall and bathtub and that the adult female had a tattoo on her finger of a smiley face (two dots and a line).”

Sadler said as he sentenced Haway that “lifelong damage has been inflicted on this child.”

“This child has lost innocence that can never be restored on replaced,” Sadler stated. “I’ve been involved in the criminal justice system for over 30 years. From that standpoint, this is one of the most vile and horrific cases I have ever experienced in the criminal justice system.”

Haway had a sex offender evaluation before Wednesday’s sentencing hearing. Sadler reviewed the resulting report and said the one of its most revealing aspects was the examiner’s conclusion that the offenses involved detailed planning and were not done on impulse.

“These acts were set up and planned,” Sadler said. “That’s a frightening conclusion. Frightening.”

The report stated that Haway was abused when she was a child and had a history of psychiatric treatment. She also has a criminal history including embezzlement, distribution of cocaine and possessing contraband in prison, Sadler said. Haway is facing child pornography charges in federal court since the video was shared with another individual.

Prosecuting Attorney George Sitler described the crimes as “heinous and disturbing. On behalf of the victim, I would ask that the maximum sentence be imposed,” he said.

Haway was sentenced to a term of 25 to 100 years on both counts of first-degree sexual assault, which will run currently (concurrently?). She received another five to 25 years on both counts of first-degree sexual abuse, which will run concurrently. Sadler also sentenced her to serve 10 to 20 years in prison for two counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian or custodian. Those sentences will run concurrently. She will also serve five to 15 years on each of the two incest charges, which will run concurrently.

Sitler estimated that this gave Haway a sentence of 45 to 155 years in prison. She will be about 88 years old when she is eligible for parole.

Sadler informed Haway that if she is ever released from prison, she will be required to register with the West Virginia State Police as a sex offender and serve 20 years of supervision.

Attorney Paul Cassell, special prosecutor for crimes against children, also represented the state at Wednesday’s hearing.

Pomona, Ca, leaders demand resignation of councilman accused of possessing child pornography

The Pomona City Council voted unanimously this past weekend to censure one of their own, Councilman Rubio Gonzalez, following his arrest on child pornography and molestation charges.

At a special City Council meeting late Saturday, May 23, two days after authorities arrested 45-year-old Gonzalez, Pomona Mayor Tim Sandoval called for the council to deliver a letter asking for the councilman’s resignation from office, effective immediately. The letter has been delivered but the city had not received a reply by midday Tuesday.

Efforts to reach Gonzalez were not successful Tuesday.

If Gonzalez chooses not to resign, Sandoval said, the city will monitor the situation and possibly explore other legal options to remove him from office.

Gonzalez’s continued presence “will present a distraction from the significant work the City Council has to perform for the community, especially as we search for ways to assist our residents and businesses and safely reopen the city,” Sandoval said, according to a recording of the Saturday meeting.

Gonzalez was scheduled to make his first appearance in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom on Tuesday but that was rescheduled to Aug. 28, according to spokesman for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.

According to the DA’s office, authorities arrested Gonzalez Thursday, May 21, on suspicion of possession of “child sexual abuse material” and annoying or molesting a child.

In a statement early Saturday, Rep. Norma J. Torres, D-Pomona, said Gonzalez should step down immediately. She called for an investigation into whether there have been prior complaints “of a sexual nature” involving the councilman, either at the city of Pomona or the Pomona Unified School District, where Gonzalez is a substitute teacher.

“If you did this, resign now,” Torres said, according to the statement. “Do not force our community to wait if you know the verdict will eventually be guilty. And if you are innocent, I urge you to cooperate fully with law enforcement to remove this cloud of suspicion as quickly as possible.”

Seriously! He can't resign now without appearing guilty. What a dumb thing for Rep Torres to say.

Oklahoma man behind bars for child sex crimes charges in Wichita County
Trish Choate, Wichita Falls Times Record News

A Waurika, Oklahoma, man is accused of 11 child sex crimes committed against a little girl over nearly five years in Burkburnett, according to court documents.

The child recounted incidents of alleged sexual abuse inflicted on her, beginning when she was 4, under the guise of playing a game while her hands were bound and she was blindfolded, court records show.

Cody Allen Atwood, 27, was being held on $5500,000 (???? - your guess is as good as mine) in bonds Tuesday in Wichita County Jail, according to online jail records. He was booked into jail Thursday.

He faces up to life in prison if convicted of any one of the 11 charges against him. They are all first-degree felonies.

A Wichita County grand jury handed down sealed indictments against Atwood for a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 in connection with incidents from June 1, 2014, through March 2, 2019, according to court records filed March 5.

He was also indicted on 10 charges of aggravated sexual assault of a child alleged to have taken place over the same time period, court documents show.

If Atwood goes to trial, jurors could opt to convict him of any of the aggravated assault charges if they determine he is guilty instead of the charge of continuous sexual abuse if they don't believe it was proven. Atwood is innocent until proven guilty.

Atwood was arrested for a charge of continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 on April 30, 2019, according to jail records. He was released May 3, 2019, from Wichita County Jail on a $50,000 bond for that charge until his recent arrest.

A Burkburnett police arrest warrant gave this account: An 8-year-old girl spoke with a forensic interviewer in a videotaped conversation March 2, 2019.

The interviewer asked the girl if something had happened to her or if she was worried about something. The girl shook her head yes. She promised the interviewer that she would tell the truth.

She said an incident happened when Atwood came into her bedroom. Atwood told her they were going to play the “food game.” The 8-year-old described a game in which Atwood sought to trick her into giving him oral sex.

During this game, he would blindfold her and bind her hands behind her back, but she could at times see under the blindfold. The blindfold fell off once, and Atwood was standing in front of her naked.

The girl said he used pink pajama bottoms to cover her eyes and a belt or rope to tie her hands, which hurt.

Montana former deputy sentenced for taking
sexually explicit photographs of a minor
By: MTN News

GREAT FALLS — Virgil Allen Wolfe was sentenced in federal court in Helena on Thursday after admitting to taking sexually explicit photographs of a minor.

Wolfe, 54 years old, pleaded guilty in May 2019 to sexual exploitation of a child.

The prosecution said in court records that law enforcement had received a report that Wolfe used a camera to take photographs of the victim in the nude and then uploaded them to his computer. The victim was younger than 12 years of age.

Law enforcement officers with Homeland Security Investigations and the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office executed a search warrant at Wolfe’s residence in June 2017 and seized computers, a phone and a digital camera. A forensic analysis of the devices found child pornography images on a computer and on a memory card inside the camera. The images were taken in 2008 and 2009.

Senior U.S. District Judge Charles Lovell presided and sentenced Wolfe to prison for 21 years and eight months, followed by a lifetime of supervised release.

(MAY 29, 2019) A former Lewis & Clark County Sheriff’s deputy has entered into a plea agreement for sex abuse charges.

In April, Virgil Wolfe was charged in federal court with three counts of sexual exploitation of a child. On May 17, he pleaded guilty to one count of sexual exploitation of a child.

The contents of the plea agreement are sealed until sentencing.

The government’s order of proof states law enforcement received a tip Wolfe was taking nude photos of an underage victim.

During an interview with authorities, the victim said Wolfe used a camera and uploaded the photos to his computer. Wolfe’s home was searched in June of 2017 and several electronic items were taken.

The Rocky Mountain Information Network examined the devices and found child pornography under the user profile of Virgil Wolfe.

Wolfe’s sentencing was set for August 29 (13th story on link) at the federal courthouse in Helena. He remains in custody.

N.C. Deputies charge suspect in decade-old
child sex abuse case
By Olivia Neeley, Wake Weekly

After being investigated and accused of child sex abuse more than a decade ago, a Selma man now faces two dozen charges in three Wilson County cases involving two victims, officials say.

The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office arrested 53-year-old Gregory Allen Bunn on Friday. He’s charged with four counts of first-degree rape of a child, seven counts of first-degree sex offense against a child and 13 counts of disseminating pornography to a child.

Bunn is being held in the Wilson County Detention Center under a $200,000 secured bond.

In March, a victim contacted the sheriff’s office about a sexual assault investigation into Bunn that occurred 15 years ago and wanted to know why he was never charged in the case, said Wanda Samuel, sheriff’s office chief of staff.

Samuel said the current sheriff’s office sexual assault detective, Julie Jackson, immediately began looking into it and spoke to the victim, who is now an adult. After that, Jackson began an investigation.

REOPENED INVESTIGATION

Jackson was able to find three reports accusing Bunn of child sex abuse involving two victims, according to Samuel. Reports were filed in 2005, 2008 and 2009, all during former Sheriff Wayne Gay’s administration. Sheriff Calvin Woodard took office in 2010.

The victims were 5 and 7 years old when the alleged sexual abuse was reported, officials said.

Jackson also looked into the sheriff’s office archives for any hard copies of notes, statements or child medical evaluation reports from those cases, but none were found, according to Samuel. The detective did find documentation of three reports in the system.

“All evidence from the 2005 case had since been destroyed, and the only item left was a CD containing photos,” Samuel said.

DOCUMENTATION

Jackson reached out to the Wilson County Department of Social Services and the Tedi Bear Children’s Advocacy Center in Greenville, which assists law enforcement by providing assessments for children who may have been victims of child abuse and neglect. The detective also contacted former Wilson County Sheriff’s Office employees to determine if they had information on the cases, according to Samuel.

Jackson then requested any and all documentation from those agencies and or parties involved in the cases. Jackson was able to reopen the case based on what she discovered, and Bunn was charged on Friday.

Samuel said due to the sensitivity of the investigation, details of the allegations will not be released.

“There was enough probable cause developed from the investigation back then that could have led to warrants being obtained against the suspect by the investigator,” Woodard said in a statement. “Victims need to be taken seriously regardless of their age.”

The Johnston County Sheriff’s Office and N.C. State Bureau of Investigation assisted the sheriff’s office in Bunn’s apprehension.

7-y/o released on bonds in Texas
..
A father and son have been arrested by Texarkana, Texas, police for the alleged continuous sexual abuse of a 7-year-old child to whom they are related
by Lynn LaRowe, Texarkana Gazette

TEXARKANA, Texas — A father and son have been arrested by Texarkana, Texas, police for alleged continuous sexual abuse of a 7-year-old child to whom they are related.
David Fant, 56, and Hayden Fant, 19, were taken into custody Wednesday afternoon, Texarkana, Texas, Police Spokesman Shawn Vaughn said. Court records show both defendants were released Thursday afternoon on bonds of $200,000 each.

The alleged victim's parents contacted police last week after a disclosure regarding the alleged abuse was made by the child. Investigators believe the abuse occurred over several years at the Fant home in Texarkana, Texas.

Detective Tabitha Smith obtained arrest warrants for both father and son after her investigation yielded information allegedly corroborating the child's account, Vaughn said. Following the arrest of the two Wednesday, a search of their residence was conducted and evidence was seized from the home.

Continuous sexual abuse of a child under 14 is punishable by 25 to 99 years or life in prison and there is no parole from any sentence imposed for the offense.

Denmark: Minister who rescued migrant child brides
may face criminal charges for it
By MICHAEL LORD

Inger Støjberg, Denmark’s former Minister for Immigration, Integration, and Housing, is now possibly facing criminal charges for having rescued migrant child brides from their older husbands when they came to the country.

Støjberg served as Immigration Minister from 2015 until 2019, during the peak of the so-called “migrant crisis.” During that time she was noted for her tough stance on illegal migration and her demand that migrants respect Danish cultural values, which earned her the hatred of the Danish Left.

One of Støjberg’s achievements was in rescuing Muslim child brides. During 2015 and 2016 in particular, a large number of male migrants came from Muslim countries along with their very young wives. Støjberg has provided examples of cases that moved her to take action against it, such as a couple that arrived from Iraq in which the husband was 29 and the wife 17. When they got to Denmark, the woman was already pregnant with her third child; she had previously given birth to two children when she was only 12 and 13.

Other examples include a Syrian couple where the husband was 50 and the girl only 16, and a “stateless” couple in which the husband was 27 and the girl was only 16, having become pregnant the first time when she was only 13.

Calling the practice of marrying child brides — which is commonplace throughout the Islamic world — “medieval and cruel,” Støjberg did everything in her legal power to separate such couples. Thus, Støjberg enacted a measure in 2016 in which the authorities were compelled to separate married couples in cases where the woman was under the age of 18.

“We must not turn a blind eye!” Støjberg said in a social media post, as reported by Norway’s Human Rights Service. “These girls are entitled to their own lives and need help. Anything else would have been completely obscene!”

In Sweden, by contrast, the migrant agencies were tolerant of such couples, and even went so far as to publish a booklet of information for “adults who are married to a child” — although it did refer to such marriages as “unfortunate,” since Swedish law prohibits having sex with a girl who is under the age of 15.

But now, liberal parties in Denmark are threatening to prosecute her for violating a technicality of international law. Under the conventions concerning children, the separation of couples can only be carried out on a case-by-case basis. Støjberg, however, stated in a press release in 2016 that not every case would be dealt with individually — thus offering an opening to the Left to trap her. She is now being investigated.

In her defense, Støjberg told the commission of inquiry on Sunday that the press release had been a political message and not a policy statement. “When you issue a press release, you do not talk about the exceptions,” she said. “You communicate the main points.” She insists that her actual instructions specified that individual assessments should be made in each case.

The investigation is still ongoing. When it is complete, the Danish Parliament will make a decision as to whether Støjberg shall be prosecuted or not.

The issue of child brides is not limited to Denmark but is endemic throughout the migrant communities of Western Europe — especially since Muslims see it as part of their culture. The BBC conducted an interview with a Muslim imam in which he stated that marrying child brides is permissible under Islamic law, as previously reported by Voice of Europe.

The political left seems to be confused about which is more important - Islamic rights or women's rights. It seems obvious to me, but confusing as to the fact that more conservative politicians are upholding women's, and children's rights, while liberal politicians are supporting the hopelessly misogynistic Muslim practice of child marriages (read child rape).

Honor Killing - Islamic Republic of Iran: Father Beheads His 13-year-old Daughter

BY ROBERT SPENCER, Jihad Watch

According to Islamic law, “retaliation is obligatory against anyone who kills a human being purely intentionally and without right.” However, “not subject to retaliation” is “a father or mother (or their fathers or mothers) for killing their offspring, or offspring’s offspring.” (Reliance of the Traveller o1.1-2). In other words, someone who kills his child incurs no legal penalty under Islamic law. In this case the victim was the murderer’s daughter, a victim to the culture of violence and intimidation that such laws help create.

Muslims commit 91 percent of honor killings worldwide. The Palestinian Authority gives pardons or suspended sentences for honor murders. Iraqi women have asked for tougher sentences for Islamic honor murderers, who get off lightly now. Syria in 2009 scrapped a law limiting the length of sentences for honor killings, but “the new law says a man can still benefit from extenuating circumstances in crimes of passion or honour ‘provided he serves a prison term of no less than two years in the case of killing.’” And in 2003 the Jordanian Parliament voted down on Islamic grounds a provision designed to stiffen penalties for honor killings. Al-Jazeera reported that “Islamists and conservatives said the laws violated religious traditions and would destroy families and values.”

Until the encouragement Islamic law gives to honor killing is acknowledged and confronted, more women will suffer.

“Girl, 13, is ‘beheaded by her father while she slept in Iranian honour killing’: Victim ‘had fallen in love with an older man,'”

by Alice Cachia, Mailonline, May 27, 2020

A 13-year-old Iranian girl has been beheaded in an honour killing by her father while she was sleeping, local media have claimed.

Romina Ashrafi was killed with a sickle in her family home in Hovigh, Talesh county, as a form of ‘punishment’, reports said.

She had planned to run away with an older man she had fallen in love with, Iran International TV said.

The teenage girl initially fled the family home with a 35-year-old man after her father expressed outrage at their plans to get married.

But both of their families contacted authorities, leading security forces to conduct a hunt before detaining the couple and taking Romina home.

Local media reported that although Romina told authorities she would be in danger at home and feared for her life, they handed her back as required by Islamic Republic laws.

Children have no voice in Islamic Law, or any other law for that matter.

After committing the murder, Romina’s father allegedly handed himself in to police and confessed to the crime – while still holding the bloodied murder weapon.

District governor Kazem Razmi said the girl’s father is being held in custody and an investigation into the case is underway….

In prison, with blood on his hands, his daughter's head on the ground - he must feel very honourable now.

On the other hand, how do you keep your beautiful daughter from running off with a possible paedophile? There must be a better way. Perhaps if there were laws in Islam that forbade sex between an adult man and a child...

Romina’s father will escape the death penalty because he was Romina’s ‘guardian’, and Islamic Penal Code means he is exempt from ‘qisas’, or ‘retaliation in kind’, Al Arabiya reported.

Sharia law says that only ‘blood owners’ – immediate family members – are allowed to demand execution for the murder of a relative.

It means most honour killings go unpunished since families tend not to demand the death sentence for another family member….

While the exact number of honour killings in Iran is not known, a Tehran police official has previously said they account for around 20 per cent of Iran’s murders.

Cambodia charges British English teacher
with child sexual abuse
CAMBODIA

PHNOM PENH: A Cambodian court has charged a 37-year-old British English teacher with indecent assault after he sexually abused two teenage girls, an anti-pedophile organization said in a press statement on Friday (May 22).

NGO Action Pour Les Enfants (APLE), which assisted the police in a probe leading to the arrest of the man, said if found guilty, the suspect will be punished with one to three years of imprisonment.

APLE said in the press statement that the Siem Reap Provincial Anti-Human Trafficking and Juvenile Protection police, led by Police Colonel Chea Heng, arrested Watkin on Wednesday following the complaint from the mother of the two teenage girls aged 13 and 17.

It said the police conducted a forensic interview with the 13-year-old girl, who disclosed the abuse and implied that the accused had also molested her older sister.

"This case pertains to the third foreign national arrested in 2020 within APLE cases, marking the 14th foreigner, including six US citizens, five British, one Swedish, one German and one Australian national arrested since 2018 in relation to APLE Cambodia's Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation cases," the statement said.

In addition, 27 Cambodians were also arrested for Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation during the same period, it added.

APLE said it is working with the victims in order to ensure their emotional and physical recovery, while its lawyers are currently offering legal aid services to the family.

Cambodia launched an anti-pedophile operation in 2003 in a bid to end its reputation as a haven for child sex offenders. Since then, dozens of foreigners have been imprisoned for child sex crimes.

Breaking- Judge Rules Malka Leifer Is Mentally Fit for Extradition Hearing on Sexual Abuse Allegations

FRUM FOLLIES by Yerachmiel Lopin

The Times of Israel reports the judicial ruling that Malka Leifer is mentally fit to face an extradition hearing which is scheduled for July 20, 2020.  Leifer stands accused in Australia of sexually abusing 3 sisters when she was principal of the Adaas girls high school in Melbourne. Just as the allegations got known the Adass board shipped her out on an early morning flight to Israel where she has since dodged extradition requests by faking mental illness.

Israel’s anti-abuse advocate, Shana Aaronson together with colleagues, hired a private investigator who documented a well functioning Leifer going about all sorts of tasks in spite of claims she could not do any of those. The other party to the fraud was the then Health Minister, Yaakov Litzman who acting on the behest of the Ger/Gur Hasidic group, exerted pressure on psychologists to go along with a false diagnosis of incapacity. Litzman is now being investigated for corruption in connection with this fraud.  (He is still in the government but now heads the housing ministry).

Today on the 67th hearing, years after Australia requested her extradition, the court finally ruled that Leifer is mentally competent enough to participate in an extradition hearing which has been scheduled for July 20th. We can only hope that this exhausting travesty of delays ends soon and Leifer is finally in the docket in Australia.

Kudos to the 3 brave sisters who have endured much, first at the hands of Leifer and the board who protected her and then at the hands of corruption by the Israel Health Minister and the Israeli Judicial system. Thanks to them, who have borne the heaviest burden of all, we may well finally see justice.

This circus is an extraordinary condemnation of the Adaas school, the Ger/Gur Hasidic group, Israel's Justice System, Government, and psychologists. Dozens of people should be prosecuted for the evil committed against sexually abused children and desperate attempt to keep this lying, creepy, horrid predator from justice. I'm not convinced she will be in Melbourne is year or next.

A convicted Wendouree paedophile was given the top job at a UK gay charity less than two years after being released from prison. Nathanael Parker reports.

THE BODY that regulates charities in England and Wales has questioned an LGBTQI+ charity after serious concerns were raised over safeguarding.

In January this year, the Charity Commission was forced to step in to assess the safeguarding policies in place at Swindon and Wiltshire Pride, a charity based in Swindon, England.

The investigation, which concluded this (UK) Spring, was initiated after it came to light that a convicted paedophile was placed at the head of Swindon and Wiltshire Pride less than two years after being released from prison.

In 2014, Lee Clarke, from Wendouree, Victoria, was convicted by a court in Ballarat of possessing almost 15,000 images of child pornography.

Judge Frank Gucciardo described the images as "abhorrent" and said Clarke’s offending was "depraved". Clarke pleaded guilty to the charges and was handed a 15-month prison sentence.

After his release, he moved to the United Kingdom and settled in Swindon.

In January 2018, Clarke was made acting chair of Swindon and Wiltshire Pride, a position he held for four months and which made him one of the chief organisers of a popular, family-orientated annual event.

Family-oriented? Seriously?

The Charity Commission has this week confirmed that the trustees of Swindon and Wiltshire Pride had to be issued with advice and guidance on safeguarding matters, and the Commission promised to assess any further concerns that may come to light.

A spokesman from the Charity Commission stated in an email:

Our case looked into concerns about an individual who was acting chair of the charity from January 2018 to May 2018.

As part of our engagement, we questioned the trustees and received assurances that the charity has strengthened its policies and procedures around safeguarding. We issued the charity with regulatory advice under section 15(2) of the Charities Act to ensure these are fully adhered to going forward.

Since discovering Clarke’s criminal history, members and friends of the LGBTQI+ community in Swindon have called for answers as to how such a man was able to obtain a position of influence.

A petition, which calls for an investigation into why the proper safeguarding checks were not carried out before Clarke’s appointment, has been signed by more than 260 people.

One member of the LGBTQI+ community, who wished to remain anonymous, said:

I think it’s disgusting that Lee Clarke was allowed to run the charity. Swindon and Wiltshire Pride is a family event and works with organizations providing crucial support to young and vulnerable LGBT people. The necessary background checks were not carried out and, as a result, Mr Clarke, who was convicted for child sex offences, was given access to children and families that he should never have been given.

According to its website, Swindon and Wiltshire Pride is involved with a youth group called Out of the Can, which members of Swindon’s LGBTQI+ community have described as “particularly worrying”.

The charity is sponsored by Nationwide Business Society, Thames Water and Wiltshire Police.

In response, Swindon and Wiltshire Pride confirmed that Lee Clarke was indeed acting chair for four months in early 2018.

In a statement, a spokesman from Pride said:

'When they [Lee Clarke] proposed themselves for this role, they failed to make known any spent/unspent convictions.'

The spokesman added that the charity does not condone Mr Clarke’s previous actions and that they have since put in place 'rigorous safeguarding policies', including 'mandatory DBS [Disclosure and Barring Service] checks for all committee members'.

Man charged over historical abuse allegations
at NSW boys' home
By AAP

The Daruk Training School was established as a government training school teaching young offenders new skills. (60 Minutes)

A former employee at a notorious Sydney boys home is facing eight assault charges over offences dating back more than 40 years.

Detectives investigating allegations of historical child abuse at the Daruk Training School near Windsor arrested a 64-year-old man at Baulkham Hills, in greater western Sydney, on Tuesday.

The man has been issued a court attendance notice over six counts of indecent assault on a male and two counts of sexual assault knowing no consent was given.

The offences are alleged to have occurred between 1978 and 1981, a police statement says.

The man has been ordered to face Penrith Local Court on July 9.

The 64-year-old is the sixth man to be charged.

The arrest was carried out by Strikeforce Eckersley, which was established in late 2016 following a series of complaints made to the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

Two of those astonishing complaints is immediately below.

Boys had penises cut off, Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse hears

At 13, Gordon was subjected to the most horrific abuse imaginable

Gordon Myers, pictured as a child, said he was raped and bashed by various staff at Daruk Training School.

WARNING: Disturbing content

A MAN who alleged his penis was cut off by a male staff member at a Sydney boys’ home was one of many children who were mutilated and severely abused at the facility, the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse has heard.

Daruk Training School in Windsor was home to hundreds of state wards and juvenile offenders from 1960-1991.

Gordon Myers, 50, told news.com.au he was 13 when he was sent to the institution for the first time in 1978.

In his submission to the commission, Mr Myers said he was raped and bashed by various staff at the home on a regular basis over the five years he lived there.

He said a male staff member who “didn’t like little boys with foreskins” used to perform illegal and botched circumcisions on the children at Daruk.

“He cut my penis off,” Mr Myers told news.com.au.

“I had just turned 13. He took me into the clinic and said ‘we have permission to circumcise you’. I said ‘no you don’t’.

“He knocked me out with a needle and I woke up in the middle of it and there was (a second staff member there as well), I screamed in pain.

“Because I was so tiny, he probably thought, stupidly, ‘don’t give him as much anaesthetic to put him under’.”

Mr Myers said there was “blood everywhere” and that he was sent to Windsor Hospital where a surgeon “sewed (his) penis back on”.

He claims the hospital “covered up” the incident.

A spokeswoman for Hawkesbury District Health Service — which replaced Windsor Hospital — told news.com.au there were no records of the incident because they had likely been destroyed.

“Having checked with our hospital’s Medical Records Department, the records for the old hospital would have been destroyed if the patient had not presented again within a certain period of time,” the spokeswoman said.

“The Medical Records manager confirmed that she has previously discussed the subject with the patient identified, and advised that unfortunately no records can be located.”

Mr Myers said his penis “never grew” as a result of the trauma. “All the nerve endings aren’t there,” he said. “It was a complete reattachment of the top of it.”

He said the deformity had a profound effect on his life. “I can’t have children and I can’t have sex,” he said.

Mr Myers provided news.com.au with copies of medical documents which reveal Dr Philip Sutherland examined him in March this year for his submission to the Royal Commission.

“I can confirm that the size of Gordon’s penis and scrotum are childlike,” the report read.

Mr Sutherland referred Mr Myers to urologist Stephen Ruthven for further assessment. Dr Ruthven concluded in a report sighted by news.com.au that Mr Myers had “testicular microlithiasis”, a condition where small clusters of calcium form in the testicles. Dr Ruthven could not be reached for comment yesterday.

Mr Myers said he was not the only child whose penis was severed by the staff member at Daruk Training School. “Every now and then he’d grab a kid to rape or circumcise and I was one of them,” he said.

Mr Myers said he was returned to the boys’ home following surgery.

“(The staff member) wanted to have another go and rape me a second time,” he said. “He raped me heaps of time before that but I wasn’t going to let that happen again. I just lost the plot and flogged him. I turned very violent.”

VIP paed ring

Mr Myers said dozens of boys were brutally, sexually and physically abused by staff at the home and that the perpetrators hadn’t been brought to justice.

He said an extensive cover-up linked to a VIP paedophile ring had protected the offenders and prevented them from being investigated. (See story immediately below).

Senator Bill Heffernan recently campaigned for the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse to expand its investigation to include the judicial system.

In October this year (2015) he told Senate estimates that he had given the commission “very disturbing” police documents that named at least 28 alleged paedophiles, some of whom were prominent Australians.

But he said the commission had told him it could not investigate the cases because they were outside its terms of reference.

Carl Orme, 50, told news.com.au he was also a resident of Daruk Training school in 1978.

Mr Orme said he was routinely physically and sexually abused by several staff members at the home and that one at the school often taunted the boys and severed some of their penises.

“There was a male (staff member) there, and I will never forget his name,” Mr Orme said. “He was a very sick man.

“He’d start fondling with you and things and he would always threaten to circumcise everyone. “He used to scare you and everything, he’d get scissors out and grab hold of the old fella’ saying, ‘I’m going to cut it off if you don’t sit still, I’m going to cut your willy off’.

“His excuse was ‘it’s clean to be circumcised’.”

Mr Orme said the new arrivals were often the staff member’s main targets.

“Sometimes he would tell one of the boys that he liked, especially the new arrivals, and then take them back to the hospital,” he said.

“Then a couple of days later, that same little boy would come back so traumatised, everyone felt for him, as most boys had already been in the same position.

“I was taken to the hospital and told that they were going to circumcise me. I went off my brain and started to fight the officers in the room.

“I threw everything that I could at them, as I’d heard that two months before, one of the little boys had his penis cut off and I was so scared, and wasn’t going to allow anything like that happen to me.

“All my life I have wondered about that little boy, I still to this day try and think of his name. I also wonder whether he made it through life.”

The Royal Commission into Child Sexual Abuse is the largest Royal Commission in Australia’s history. It is focusing on the sexual abuse of children in institutions that were supposed to care for them.

After being granted an extension last year, the commission will now conclude at the end of 2017.

Former MP refused suppression order over charges of child sex abuse at Daruk Training School
By Jamie McKinnell

A former federal MP accused of historical child sexual abuse offences has unsuccessfully asked a court to keep details of his case secret, arguing public condemnation exacerbates his heart problems.

Alasdair Webster is facing 14 charges including buggery and indecent assault from his time as a superintendent at the notorious Daruk Training School near Windsor, NSW in 1977 and 1978.

Media coverage of the 86-year-old's case triggered "broad public condemnation" and online hatred, including calls for him to be hanged and castrated, his lawyer Manny Conditsis said while arguing for a suppression order.

"The expressed hatred of the applicant is causing both the applicant and his wife very significant stress, anxiety and fear and may well have a serious detrimental effect on his wellbeing due to his serious heart condition," Mr Conditsis told Penrith Local Court today.

He said Mr Webster's wife had become hypervigilant about unexpected visitors after two threatening phone calls to their home in January.

The court heard as recently as this week mail in the Webster's letterbox was torn up and there had been calls for local parents to take their children out of school to instead watch the case unfold.

Following his 10-year stint at Daruk which ended in 1984, Mr Webster went on to hold the seat of Macquarie for the Liberal Party for nine years and was awarded an Order of Australia medal.

His charges were laid after evidence about the school was heard at the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse.

No risk to safety, court hears

Mr Conditsis argued media coverage of his client's charges had been "sensationalist", "hysterical", "irresponsible" and provoked social media uproar.

He cited a 2018 60 Minutes program which "inappropriately" linked Mr Webster to allegations a former resident of the school was the victim of a botched circumcision — allegations over which Mr Webster has not been charged.

Mr Conditsis unsuccessfully attempted to have part of the application for a suppression order heard in closed court, which would have even blocked a lawyer representing media organisations, including the ABC, from proceedings.

Dauid Sibtain, for the media organisations, said "impassioned responses" to responsible mainstream media coverage were a "typical facet of the operation of the fourth estate".

"The evidence doesn't go beyond fear ... there is simply no evidence that there is a risk to the applicant's safety," Mr Sibtain said.

Magistrate Brian Van Zuylen refused the application and said while the court viewed Mr Webster's situation "with sympathy", he was not persuaded the circumstances were so exceptional as to justify suppression orders.

Good decision!

Mr Webster's case returns to court on July 10.

Philippine court convicts American of
online child sex abuse
By JIM GOMEZ

MANILA, Philippines (AP)A Philippine court has sentenced an American to life in prison on charges of sexually exploiting Filipino children using webcams to sell videos, photos and livestreams to buyers abroad, an official said Wednesday.

National Bureau of Investigation official Janet Francisco said the conviction of David Timothy Deakin is a strong warning to offenders that “they could not hide even if they commit sexual exploitation crimes in cyberspace because law enforcers are collaborating worldwide to catch them.”

Judge Irineo Pangilinan Jr. of the regional trial court in northern Pampanga province declared Deakin guilty of qualified human trafficking and sentenced him to life imprisonment and ordered him to pay a fine and indemnify his victims. The ruling was handed down online Tuesday because of coronavirus quarantine restrictions.

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation provided the information that led to Deakin’s arrest in April 2017 in Pampanga’s Mabalacat city, Francisco said. Associated Press journalists were allowed to witness the raid on Deakin’s apartment near a red-light district and his arrest.

Francisco, who heads an anti-human trafficking force, said the raid led to the seizure of the largest amount of digital evidence related to online sexual exploitation of children in the country so far. Her agents also found children’s underwear, toddler shoes, cameras, bondage cuffs, fetish ropes, meth pipes and stacks of hard drives and photo albums in Deakin’s two-bedroom apartment.

Deakin was originally from Peoria, Illinois, and has been in the Philippines since 2000. He told the AP in an interview shortly after his arrest that he didn’t make videos of children.

The Washington, D.C.-based private group International Justice Mission said its social workers have helped bring eight of Deakin’s victims to recovery and cited one as welcoming his conviction “because he won’t be able to victimize anyone anymore.”

Samson Inocencio Jr., who heads the IJM in the Philippines, said the justice system should continue protecting vulnerable children who are unsafe during the coronavirus lockdown.

A study released by the group last week said the Philippines has emerged as a global hot spot for online child sexual exploitation, with cases increasing sharply in recent years. Parents have agreed to have their own children victimized for the money.

Or, they victimize the children themselves.

The webcam scheme involves pedophiles in the U.S., Canada, Europe and Australia who pay facilitators to sexually abuse children, even babies, in the privacy of Philippine homes. They watch and help direct the abuses through online livestreaming services.

The wide use of English, availability of internet connections and international cash transfer systems have combined with long-entrenched poverty and wide access to vulnerable children to allow many abuses to happen in the Philippines.

They don't just allow them to happen; they enable them to explode exponentially.
