These Unthinkably Evil Criminals Reportedly
Among 4.5K Inmates Freed In Illinois
Activist Mommy

One of the more troubling ways states are responding to the coronavirus pandemic is by releasing thousands of dangerous criminals back out into society before they would normally be eligible for release. Some of these offenders have been accused of serious crimes including crimes against children, drug trafficking, assault, and various murder-related charges. Now, they’ve been set free all in an attempt to stop the spread of the coronavirus.

States like New York, California, and Illinois have been releasing thousands of dangerous criminals since the beginning of March. Even more concerning is that among the thousands of inmates being released many of them are convicted sex offenders.

Breitbart reports that of the 4,500 inmates released in the state of Illinois between March 1 and May 6, nearly 150 of them have been convicted of sex crimes.

Breitbart gives the details on three of these dangerous, now free, criminals:

Steven Haberkorn, 31-years-old, is one of the child sex abusers who was allowed to parole out of prison on March 2. Around 2011, Haberkorn was convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

At the time of the incident, Haberkorn was 21 years old and his victim was nine years old.

Gustavo Covarrubias, a 59-year-old child sex abuser, was also allowed to parole out of prison on March 24. Around 2014, Covarrubias was convicted of predatory criminal sexual assault. At the time of the incident, Covarrubias was 53 years old and his victim was 11 years old.

Likewise, 47-year-old Charles Shumard was allowed to parole out of prison on March 9. Around 2016, Shumard was convicted of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. At the time of the incident, Shumard was 43 years old and his victim was 15 years old.

Breitbart reports that of the more than 4,500 inmates released in Illinois, 520 of them have been convicted of “Class X” felonies. These felonies are the most serious violent crimes a person can be convicted of aside from first-degree murder. Now, these violent and dangerous criminals are back out on the streets. That should help Illinois residents sleep at night.

Meanwhile, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker (D) has said violators of the state’s stay-at-home orders could be taken into custody, charged, and prosecuted.

We can’t help but wonder how exactly releasing these dangerous criminals early is supposed to slow the spread of the virus. This is beyond lawlessness. It’s sheer insanity.

I completely agree although it would be helpful if Activist Mommy or Breitbart had informed us of how early they were being released. Was it a few months, or a few years, or what.

Fresno Man Pleads Guilty To Child Sexual Exploitation, Child Porn Using Social Media Apps

FRESNO (CBS SF)A Fresno man pleaded guilty to child sexual exploitation and child pornography in federal court Friday, three years after first being discovered targeting young girls with computer and mobile apps.

Jacob Blanco, 28, pleaded guilty today to five counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, and one count of receipt and distribution of child pornography, U.S. Attorney for Eastern District of California McGregor W. Scott announced Friday.

Blanco’s activities were discovered in March 2017 when the parents of a then six-year-old discovered she had sent sexually explicit images of herself at the request of another user on the social media app Musical.ly (now TikTok). Investigators identified the other user as Blanco.

A search of Blanco’s home and digital devices showed he had persuaded a number of young girls to produce sexually explicit material, using various methods including pretending to be a minor himself or claiming he was a modeling agent.

At least 50 minors!

According to the plea agreement, Blanco used Snapchat, Kik, Musical.ly and other apps to communicate with girls to have them create and send sexually explicit pictures of themselves to him. Blanco admitted as part of his plea agreement that he communicated with at least 50 minors.

Blanco was scheduled to be sentenced Oct. 9 and faces a mandatory minimum of 15 years in prison and a maximum of 30 years in prison for each sexual exploitation count, and 5–20 years in prison for the distribution of child pornography count. Each count could also incur a potential $250,000 fine and Blanco is to have lifetime supervised release.

The actual sentence, however, will be determined at the discretion of the court after consideration of any applicable statutory factors and the Federal Sentencing Guidelines, which take into account a number of variables.

The investigation was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations, with help from the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and the Fresno Police Department along with law enforcement agencies in various states. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.

Rural Oregon Man Arrested for Luring
Two Young Girls on the Internet
Posted By: Erica Rodriguez, KEZI

GATES, Ore. – A cyber crime investigation of online child exploitation offenses led detectives to arrest a man living in the Gates area Wednesday.

According to the Linn County sheriff, the investigation into John Anthony DiMolfetto Jr., 37, started in April.

It started after investigators from the Vancouver Police Department in Washington state contacted the Linn County Sheriff’s Office to turn over information regarding the exploitation of a minor.

According to the sheriff, DiMolfetto recently moved to Linn County from California and evidence showed DiMolfetto lured female children over the Internet to engage in sexually explicit communication. Detectives have identified two victims, an 11-year-old child in Washington state and a 13-year-old child in California.

Detectives are continuing their investigation and have evidence and reason to believe there may be additional victims.

DiMolfetto was arrested and booked into the Linn County Jail where he is facing multiple counts of using a child in a display of sexually explicit conduct, encouraging child sexual abuse in the first degree, and luring a minor.

Anyone with information related to the investigation should contact Detective John Trenary at 541-917-6665 or Detective Mike Rossiter at 541-917-6682.

Bend, Ore, man gets 30 years for years of child incest

By GARRETT ANDREWS The Bulletin

The Bend man who recorded himself sexually abusing a young relative so he could later critique her received a 30-year prison sentence Tuesday at an emotional hearing in Deschutes County Circuit Court.

Brian Mark Dever, 52, was arrested in July 2018 when his 15-year-old victim escaped their house during an attack and ran for help. She’d later describe years of sexual abuse at his hands.

In a courtroom empty except for his victim and several of her supporters, Dever pleaded guilty to 12 felonies, including rape, assault, encouraging child sex abuse and invasion of privacy.

“I’m sorry to my family and those who cared about me,” he said in a brief statement. “I deserve the punishment I’m getting and more.”

The case took less than two years to adjudicate due to the number and complexity of charges and the fact Dever changed lawyers several times.

“Your Honor, this case has been pending for some time,” said Matt Nelson, a prosecutor with the Deschutes County District Attorney’s office. “It’s the product of a lot of negotiations, but we’re finally here.”

The case began July, 11, 2018, when the victim showed up at a neighbor’s front door crying and covered in blood. At the house lived the girl’s best friend and the friend’s parents, who are both law enforcement officers.

The victim told them Dever had tried to take off her pants to have sex and when she’d resisted, he’d punched her in the face. She went into a bathroom, broke out the window and ran to her friend’s home.

The best friend’s mother spoke at the sentencing and said signs of the abusive relationship are clear in retrospect. The victim never seemed to want to go back to her house, and always wanted other people to come along when she went anywhere with Dever. She’d started wearing revealing clothes, which they later learned were purchased by Dever.

Dever had moved in with the victim and her family two years earlier. After he started abusing the victim, he installed cameras in her bedroom and bathroom.

Before he was arrested, detectives observed Dever walking back and forth to a barn near his house. They later found in the barn a bag containing electronic equipment and in it were found numerous recordings of Dever engaging in sex acts with the victim, as well as videos of her friends he’d surreptitiously recorded in the bathroom.

When it came time Tuesday for the girl to give a statement, she leaned her back against a courtroom wall and spoke without notes.

She said she hasn’t returned home since turning him in, as he abused her in every room of the house. She said she regularly wakes from night terrors screaming and crying. She can’t listen to classic rock songs or eat fast food — two things Dever loves — without thinking of him, and those things are hard to avoid.

Two girls, mother sue over alleged
sexual abuse by foster dad in Florida
FHN

Children had been placed in foster home with man who committed suicide during his sexual abuse trial

Foster parent Gilberto Rios, who was accused of molesting at least three little girls, hung himself from a rafter of a shed at his North Port pool home during his sexual abuse trial in April 2019.

Now, two of those girls and their mother have filed a lawsuit in Sarasota against Gilberto’s widow, Nereida Rios, for physically abusing them, and against two child welfare organizations, Sarasota-based Safe Children Coalition (SCC) and New Port Richey-based Youth and Family Alternatives Inc. (YFA), for failing to ensure their “health, welfare and safety.”

As a result of their negligence, the two girls — identified only by their initials AP and JP — will suffer “mental anguish, loss of capacity for the enjoyment of life, and expenses of hospitalization, medical and nursing care and treatment, exacerbation and/or aggravation of preexisting conditions, and other reasonable compensatory damages,” the lawsuit states.

“You have such extreme, bright red flags in this case, and that’s the tragedy here,” said Fort Lauderdale attorney Howard Talenfeld, who represents the mother and her daughters. “When you have red flags like that, you can’t take risks with the lives of children. There’s just too much room for harm.”

Brena Slater, chief executive of SCC, and Mark Wickham, chief executive of YFA, did not return phone and email messages. Nereida Rios could not be reached for comment.

According to the lawsuit, the girls entered the care of Gilberto and Nereida Rios in May 2016 when they were toddlers — 2 and 3 years old — and they remained in their home through December of that year, occasionally visiting their mother for overnight stays and weekends.

It was during one of those visits in early October that their mother noticed that the older girl, AP, had a busted lip, a white buildup around her vagina that was difficult to clean and a bloody discharge, the lawsuit states.

The mother also reported that AP acted emotionally distant and upset, while JP acted aggressively.

During an overnight visit later that same month, AP told her mother that “Nereida Rios struck her face,” the lawsuit states. In response, her mother filed a hotline complaint on Nov. 2, in which she included information about the behavioral changes and worrying vaginal discharges.

Four days later — on another home visit — AP revealed to her mother “that she has secrets she is not allowed to tell or she will go to jail,” the lawsuits states, adding that “the ‘Boss Man’ hurts her between her legs.”

The lawsuit goes on to say that a staff meeting was held on Nov. 8 to discuss the AP and JP’s situation, and the Guardian Ad Litem representing the children expressed concerns about “the controlling nature of the foster home” where the children “were made to sit on a small rug or were locked in their bedroom.” But SCC and YFA officials, who attended the meeting, were not concerned enough to remove the children from the Rios household.

Did they even discuss the sexual issues? Did they even know about them?

When they finally returned to their mother again on Dec. 22, there were more signs of abuse. The lawsuit says AP had bruises on her butt cheeks. She “was wetting her pants and acting fearful of getting in trouble for having a toileting accident.”

In addition, JP had a busted lip that she said she got from “Big Boss Man,” the lawsuit states.

Astonishing

Confronted with this feedback, Gilberto and Nereida Rios said they no longer wanted AP and JP in their home. “They did not want to be the subject of any further investigations,” the lawsuit says.

But instead of shutting the home down, SCC continued to send children. At least 10 more kids resided with Gilberto and Nereida Rios over the next 15 months, according to placement data from the Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN) database obtained by the Sarasota Herald-Tribune and USA TODAY.

“Children at that age can’t speak for themselves,” said Talenfeld. “That’s why you have to look at the physical signs and listen to what the children do tell you — that Boss Man hurts her between her legs and there are secrets that she can’t tell.”

Those were bright red flags, said Talenfeld, who is co-counsel on the case along with Sarasota attorney Richard Fillson. But SCC and YFA didn’t pay attention, probably because of a serious shortage of foster parents, not only in Sarasota but throughout Florida.

Finally, in 2018, another mother came forward claiming her adopted daughter had been molested while living in the Rios household in 2015 and Gilberto Rios was arrested.

That mother told police that she started suspecting her adopted daughter had been sexually abused when she saw her simulating oral sex with barbie dolls. When questioned, the 6-year-old told her that Rios had made her put his penis in her mouth when she was just 3.

Meanwhile, the lawsuit filed by the mother of AP and JP says that the little girls continued to act out and exhibit sexualized behavior after returning to their mother’s care.

AP — then age 4 — was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder.

Brain chemistry is changed when a child is sexualized too soon,
and the results can be terrible.

Talenfeld said kids who are sexually abused can become sexually reactive and start to replicate sexual behaviors.

“Some become sexually aggressive,” he said. “Others become extremely depressed. They have behavioral issues, repressed memories. This can cause significant trauma that can impact their lives. Some kids eventually die by suicide. Others develop reactive detachment disorders.”

It doesn’t mean every child, Talenfeld said.

“Some issues can be addressed right away through therapy. But brain chemistry is changed when a child is sexualized too soon, and the results can be terrible.”

Farmington, NM, man accused of raping two teens, recording one alleged rape with cell phone

Joshua Kellogg, Farmington Daily Times

FARMINGTON — A Farmington man remains in jail after being accused of raping two teenage girls after getting his victims intoxicated, and recording one of those alleged incidents on his cell phone.

A district court judge revealed in court documents that law enforcement officers have identified a third possible victim.

Matthew Descheeny, 21, is accused of raping two teenage girls, making and possessing child pornography, causing a minor to engage in making child pornography, sending sexual communication to one of the teens and getting the two teens intoxicated, according to court documents.

In all, Descheeny is faces 10 felony charges across two cases including manufacturing visual medium of sexual exploitation of children, causing or permitting a child to engage in sexual exploitation, possession of visual medium of sexual exploitation and criminal sexual penetration in the fourth degree and the second degree, according to the criminal complaints.

Eric Morrow, Descheeny's attorney, said one of the teens misrepresented herself as an older woman to his client. He said his client also thinks the other teen was of legal age and believes "she has not been truthful with the police" about her age.

The San Juan County Sheriff's Office investigation was launched on April 8.

Teen describes three incidents

A detective was contacted regarding a possible criminal sexual penetration of a minor.

While examining her daughter's phone, a mother found messages the teen sent to Descheeny which talked about drinking alcohol and being drunk.

Descheeny allegedly sent lewd photos of himself through an Instagram account.

The teen told a detective on April 22 that she had three incidents of "sex" with Descheeny, according to the affidavit.

The defendant is also accused of giving the teen alcohol during one of the incidents.

She said one of the first things she told Descheeny was her age. He claimed he thought she said she was almost 18-years-old.

Descheeny was interviewed by law enforcement. His answers jumped around as he initially claimed he only had sex once with the teen and did not give her alcohol, according to the affidavit.

The defendant did make one request of law enforcement before the interview ended. "(Descheeny) made the statement that he would like not to be charged with any crimes," according to court documents.

Maybe he should have thought about that a lot earlier.

A search warrant was obtained and executed on April 16 for Descheeny's laptop computer and cell phone. The search warrant revealed a video of the suspect and another person later identified as a second teen girl, court documents state.

Descheeny said his ex-girlfriend was in the video and claimed she was 18-years-old, stating it was a mistake to have sex with her as they were really drunk.

The detective interviewed the second teen on May 5. She told the detective she did not remember being raped by Descheeny or him recording her during the incident.

Judge's Order

Descheeny will be held at the San Juan County Adult Detention Center without bond, following a May 11 hearing in Aztec District Court.

District Court Judge Daylene Marsh wrote in her order that Descheeny used social media to find alleged victims, allegedly used alcohol to get the teen girls drunk and is also accused of raping them, and that the "weight' of evidence against him was strong.

Marsh also wrote the investigation into Descheeny is still ongoing and law enforcement may have identified a third victim, according to court documents.

The defendant waived his first preliminary hearing on April 30 and his second preliminary hearing in Aztec Magistrate Court was postponed to June 9.

Parma, Id, man arrested on sexual abuse and
child enticement charges

Police said a parent found "sexually explicit and obscene photos and language" from the 23-year-old on their child's phone.

Author: KTVB Staff

The Nampa Police Department says a report from an alert parent has led to the arrest of a man suspected of arranging to meet a child for sex.

Nampa officers arrested Edward Dollman of Parma on Thursday.

The charges against Dollman, who is 23 years old, include sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of enticing a child through the internet, and a misdemeanor no-contact order violation.

Dollman's bond was set at $1 million and a public defender was appointed Friday afternoon.

Nampa Police received a report of online enticement in April.

Investigators say the parent who made the report had intercepted sexually explicit messages and photos between Dollman and the victim, who police say Dollman had met using "popular social media platforms."

Detectives believe Dollman has communicated with other youth who have not yet notified police.

Anyone with information related to this case is asked to contact Detective Matt Richardson at 208-565-5137.

Under Idaho law, sexual abuse of a minor carries a maximum prison sentence of 25 years. Child enticement is a maximum of 15 years. Violating a no-contact order is a maximum of one year in county jail.

Dollman's preliminary hearing is scheduled for 8:30 a.m. on May 27. The online court repository indicates that his defense has filed a motion to reduce his $1 million bond.

The Nampa Police Department is encouraging parents to be familiar with Snapchat, Facebook and other social media apps where conversations, video and images are shared.

They also recommend the following for parents:

Open conversations with your children under 18 about online safety, awareness of online predators.
Look at your child's internet content and communication channels regularly. Be concerned if your children do not want to share their device with you or keep it hidden from you.

Utilize your internet provider's parental controls and notify police if an adult is sending or requesting pornographic images from your children.

Interlachen, Fla, sexual predator arrested for
sexual assault of child
The Florida Times-Union
By Dan Scanlan

A 63-year-old Interlachen man found guilty in 1995 of sexual battery against a child has been arrested in the sexual assault of a child, Putnam County authorities said.

A 63-year-old convicted sexual predator from Interlachen is back behind bars after a girl said she was abused for four years, according to the Putnam County Sheriff’s Office.

Lawrence Achille Lacourse of Sunrise Path in Interlachen was arrested Wednesday on warrants for four counts of sexual assault on victim 12 or younger and three more for lewd and lascivious behavior on a child 12 to 16 years old, Putnam County jail records show. He remains jailed on $50,000 bail.

The victim told investigators Lacourse sexually abused her starting when she was 10, the Sheriff’s Office said. She also said he secretly videotaped the abuse, threatening to post the images on social media if she told anyone.

A friend of the victim notified investigators of the abuse, and she agreed to speak to detectives, the Sheriff’s Office said.

Lacourse was convicted in late 1995 in Collier County of lewd or lascivious assault on a child younger than 16 and sexual battery by coercion of a victim younger than 18 by someone who is in familial or custodial authority of them, according to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.

In other words, completely devoid of any moral character.
