A paedophile bought Kinder Eggs to give to a "girl" he was planning to meet at McDonald's.
The 31-year-old, under the username 'HornyScouser78', told the girl he was "going to kiss the face off her" and "kissing might lead to more".
After he was arrested police discovered sickening child sex abuse images of children on his iPhone, including pictures of children being raped.
Cheryl Mottram, prosecuting today at Liverpool Crown Court, said the decoy profile of a 13-year-old girl, was set up by police on Kik Messenger. Ms Mottram said: "On June 5 on that application she was contacted by 'HornyScouser78'".
After being told the 'girl' was 13-years of age Alderton "asked for details about her" and "asked if she 'liked older blokes'". Ms Mottram said Alderton then "sent an image of himself in a red Liverpool t-shirt".
She said he informed the "girl" he was 30 years of age and said it was a 'shame' she wasn't older". Alderton asked for a photo and was sent a picture of a girl, to which he replied she was "well fit with nice lips and eyes".
Ms Mottram said: "He suggested meeting up and asked what they would do when they met up and said 'maybe a little kiss'." She said they then arranged to meet at McDonald's on June 10, 2020, at 11am.
The undercover police officer asked Alderton to bring Kinder Eggs and Alderton said he was "going to kiss the face off her" and "kissing might lead to more".
Alderton was arrested "at the retail park outside a B&M store where he had been to buy her Kinder Eggs".
After his arrest officers found 347 indecent pictures of children on his iPhone, including 35 of the most serious category, which involved images of children being raped. Ms Mottram said the youngest child in the images was five-years-old.
Mike Hagerty, defending, urged the judge to suspend any custodial sentence stressing Alderton had admitted the offences at the earliest opportunity and didn't have any previous convictions.
Mr Hagerty said the offences took place against "the background of a breakdown in the defendant's long term relationship with the mother of his two sons".
He said Alderton has moved back in with his mum and has only been able to see his children once under supervision as a result of the proceedings.
He said Alderton has also been unable to see his brother "who has cerebral palsy and who he was a carer for".
Mr Hagerty said Alderton has "lost his job of 10 years working as a carer" and lost his home.
He said: "Apart from his liberty there's not much else to lose."
Mr Hagerty said he had provided "no real explanation to why he acted in the way he did" and he "denies any sexual interest in children".
He added Alderton, who has no previous convictions, had shown "shame", "regret" and "remorse" and the judge confirmed the defendant had "suffered from anxiety and depression".
Alderton, of Feltwell Road, Anfield, admitted attempting sexual communication with a child, attempting to meet a child after sexual grooming, three counts of making an indecent photograph of a child and possession of indecent images of children.
Judge Anil Murray, sentencing, said: "You travelled in an effort to meet what you thought was a child, that went beyond looking at images."
Determining whether the prison sentence could be suspended Judge Murray explained a pre sentence report deemed him a "high risk of serious harm to children should you reoffend".
The judge said: "I ask whether you present a risk to the public, the answer is yes." Judge Murray added: "There are significant concerns about your sexual preoccupation and level of denial."
The judge jailed Alderton for two years and two months.
He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders Register for 10 years and told to adhere to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for the same period.

A paedophile rapist serving a life sentence for his horrific crimes has been convicted of more sick offences.
This week he was handed a further three years for historical sex abuse in Northern Ireland in the 1980s.
The case was just the latest prosecution of Adams for sex offences against children.
The 54-year-old served seven years in jail for the rape of a schoolgirl in Ireland before travelling to Merseyside in 2005, just days after his release from prison.
Almost as soon as he arrived in Liverpool he befriended his next victim, lavishing her with gifts and taking her family on a three week holiday to Blackpool - funded by Adams' Catholic priest lover.
Liverpool Crown Court heard Adams raped his victim every night of that trip.
Adams, then of Meadow Hey, Bootle, pleaded guilty to five charges of raping the girl between May and November 2005. He was jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of seven-and-a-half years before he could apply for parole.
I don't understand that, why was he jailed for life but becomes eligible for parole after 7.5 years? With the overcrowding in UK jails, he might be out in 3 years. How crazy is that?
He was also ordered to sign the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.
Speaking after the case, Detective Inspector Lol Forrest, of Merseyside Police, said: “We feel Adams is a predatory paedophile who used his charm to gain access to a vulnerable member of society.
“I hope that his victim and her family can take some comfort from the fact that he will be in prison for a long time.”
A long time seems like a serious exaggeration here. His victim may still be in her teens when he is released. He should never be released; he has a half dozen strikes on him already.
Adams remained in jail and was transferred to Northern Ireland to face further sexual offence allegations dating back to the early 1980s.
He was found guilty of historic sex offences linked to his time at a County Down training and care centre earlier this year and handed the three year term at Belfast Crown Court on Tuesday, the Belfast Telegraph and Irish News reported.

The mum of a 12 year old girl who died earlier this month has said she had reported being raped and then bullied online over what had happened to her.
Rachel Halliwell says her daughter, Semina Halliwell, was "traumatised" after being groomed and raped.
Rachel said: "After having her innocence taken, Semina was bullied online on a daily basis. She couldn't take it any more."
Semina's tragic case was raised at a parliamentary committee this morning, when Labour MP Apsana Begum asked Education Secretary Gavin Williamson what more can be done to help protect children from sexual harassment and abuse.
Ms Begum said: "I wanted to highlight the case of Semina who was 12 years old who disclosed that she'd been raped, and has committed suicide last week."
Semina died on June 12, after spending four nights in hospital.
"She was put into a coma on the Friday (June 11). The very last words my baby said to me before they put her in a coma was that she was raped."
Rachel says the incident was reported to the police.
The devastated mum previously told the ECHO : "Semina was so beautiful, and so funny. She loved singing and dancing.
"She had been asked by model agencies to work for them but she wasn't confident enough. She didn't see how beautiful she was.
"She was loving and caring, and loved her brothers Rafy and Jorge so much, and she was so loved by friends and family, far and wide.
"I am heartbroken beyond words. There is a void in my heart that can never be filled."

Now, police have said they think there are more victims - and are urging potential complainants to come forward, Cheshire Live reports.
Louw, 27, of Rookery Road, Malpas, Cheshire, who had been messaging the girl on Snapchat, is known to have worked as a dance teacher before his conviction.
Sentencing him to 42 months in prison after he pleaded guilty to charges of sexual activity with a child, Judge Rhys Rowlands, sitting at Mold Crown Court, banned him from working with children and vulnerable adults for life, and ordered him to sign the Sex Offenders Register indefinitely.

An Adelaide man who admitted to filming himself sexually abusing children in Cambodia before publishing the videos online has agreed to compensate one of his victims "a significant" amount of money, a court has heard.
Geoffrey William Moyle, 48, previously pleaded guilty to 11 offences, including nine counts relating to the sexual abuse of children in Cambodia between 2002 and 2005.
He raped six children while allegedly working as a foreign aid worker for the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), a claim DFAT has refuted.
The court previously heard the children were "forced to be in brothels".
Today, the South Australian District Court heard that Moyle and one of his child victims had reached a "very generous" out-of-court settlement, though an exact dollar figure was not specified.
Moyle's defence lawyer Heath Barklay today asked Judge Paul Cuthbertson to consider a "merciful" prison term (3rd story on link) since his client showed "good prospects for rehabilitation".
"The amount [of compensation] was very generous ... and reflects [the client's] contrition and remorse," Mr Barklay said.
Mr Barklay also asked the court to discharge a freezing order on his client’s assets, because Moyle had already made the reparation payment to the victim.
Compensation an 'Australian first'
The issue of whether an Australian court could order compensation be paid to overseas victims first arose during Doyle's previous sentencing hearing in January.
Jonathan Wells QC, who represented one of the survivors for free, told the court in January that the reason compensation was being sought was because Moyle had assets, including a house in Adelaide.
Speaking during that sentencing hearing, Judge Cuthbertson said if compensation was paid, he believed it would be an Australian-first.
"There haven't been any cases in Australia, so everyone is coming out of this fresh, and there are a number of issues that I'm wondering about," he said.
Speaking in court today, Judge Cuthbertson congratulated both parties on reaching a reparation agreement outside of court.
Moyle will be sentenced in August.

A paedophile from East Lancashire who groomed teenage girls via social media and had sex with two of them in hotels has been jailed for 10 years.
Amjid Hussain was arrested by police after officers raided a Manchester city centre hotel in January 2020 following concerns raised by a member of the public about the welfare of a teenage girl.
The 38-year-old from Blackburn was found in a private room with the 15-year-old victim and subsequently arrested on suspicion of rape.
A number of mobile devices were seized and analysis revealed that between 2018 and 2020 he had been engaging in sexual communication with two additional teenage girls via a social media app.
On one occasion, in December 2019, Hussain had met one of the girls at a hotel in Leeds and during this meeting he paid for the sexual services of a child.
Hussain, of Ebony Street, Blackburn, pleaded guilty to grooming and engaging in sexual communication with a child, grooming and sexual activity with a child and paying for the sexual services of a child..
He was sentenced today (July 1) at Manchester Crown Court to 10 years in prison and will be put on an extended licence.
The Judge also ordered predator Hussain to be subject to a sexual harm prevention order for 10 years and will now be on the sex offenders register for life.
Detective Chief Inspector, Simon Moyles of GMP's City of Manchester's Complex Safeguarding Hub said: "I would like to thank the victims for their bravery and co-operation throughout this investigation and commend the work of the officers involved and the multi-agency work conducted across three forces to secure this conviction"
"Hussain groomed these young girls and engaged in sexual communication and activity with them to satisfy his own sexual perversion. I hope today's sentencing provides a sense of justice to his victims and also sends a stark message that GMP will ensure anyone found to be engaging with a child in a sexual manner will face the serious consequences of their actions."
Councillor Garry Bridges, Executive Member for Children & Schools at Manchester City Council, said: "Manchester's Complex Safeguarding Hub exists to co-ordinate the response between police, social workers and other experts to crime involving at-risk young people including child sexual exploitation - helping to prosecute perpetrators and to protect and support those they would prey on.
Pakistani Muslims are still grooming and raping young British girls. They should be deported.
