Wolves in the Henhouse > CSA School Cop enabled for years; Vermont teacher on trial for CSA; SDA trial reveals kids married at 9; OK cop and wife charged for CSA of Foster kids; Pedo gets 325 year sentence

A school cop was accused of sexual misconduct with kids.
He kept his job for years.

COLUMBIA, S.C. — The teen was nervous to hear the results of the investigation. Weeks had passed since the 15-year-old reported that a school resource officer sexually assaulted her. In his office. In the middle of the school day.

Now a captain from the Richland County Sheriff’s Department had set up a meeting with the 10th-grader and her therapist to tell them what was going to be done about it.

The 38-year-old officer, Deputy Jamel Bradley, had previously been the subject of at least five complaints in his nine years at Spring Valley High School. Parents, fellow deputies, an administrator and a coach had all raised concerns that Bradley was acting inappropriately with teenage girls.

Two of his colleagues had reported that they saw Bradley, alone with a female student, late at night in a secluded parking lot.

Capt. Heidi Jackson was aware of some of the past allegations when she met with the 10th-grader and her therapist in May 2018, law enforcement records show. With the girl’s permission, The Washington Post is identifying her by her middle name, Dianah.

Sitting in her therapist’s office, Dianah tugged at her armful of bracelets. One said, “It’s ok not to be ok.”

Jackson told Dianah that she believed her story, and others did, too, according to notes taken by the girl’s therapist and shared with The Post.

But some people on the force, Jackson said, “did not want to see this side” of the school resource officer. Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott had personally recruited Bradley, a former star basketball player at the University of South Carolina — placing him at an elementary school before he’d even graduated from the police academy.

He was painted as a role model in the community, with glowing evaluations and praise-filled newspaper profiles.

Bradley, Jackson told the teen, was “a unicorn in the force … considered rare and precious and above reproach.”

The sheriff’s department, Dianah learned, was not going to arrest Bradley. He was not going to be removed from Dianah’s high school. After briefly being reassigned to another school, Bradley had returned to the halls of Spring Valley.

“I can’t go back to school,” Dianah declared.

Trial begins for former Vt. teacher

charged with child sexual assault

ST. ALBANS, Vt. (WCAX) - An emotional day in court Wednesday as the trial of a former Franklin County school teacher accused of years of sexual abuse began.

The case dates back to 2021 when former sixth-grade teacher Matthew Toof was first charged with sexual assault on a student. Prosecutors say he taught the student at Georgia Elementary and the abuse started when she was 11 and continued for years. Toof was fired and now faces aggravated sexual assault and lewd and lascivious conduct charges.

In court, the alleged victim was asked to relive the years of abuse. WCAX News does not identify victims of alleged abuse.

“It hurts me to do this but then there’s the part of me that this has to be done. He knew this was going to happen. I’m also angry that he did this to me,” she said.

The victim’s mother was also called to testify. Asked how what happened made her feel, the mother responded: “Devastated. I hugged her, I held her, I said it was going to be OK. We’re going to take care of this. Everything will be alright.”

During opening statements, Franklin County Deputy State’s Attorney Diane Wheeler outlined the alleged acts to the jury. Prosecutors allege the acts happened at school, at the victim’s house and on vacations.

“You will be able to find that beyond that was part of his plan to satisfy his own lustful and sexual desires,” Wheeler said.

In the defense’s argument, Attorney Robert Kaplan paints a different picture of their relationship and denies the sexual assaults.

“At the end of the day, you are going to be left with a decision to make, really about who to believe because the only evidence of there being any sexual interaction ever between Matthew Toof and [the victim] are what [the victim] says,” Kaplan said.

Since his arrest in December 2021, Toof has been under house arrest, under strict court conditions.

Prosecutors anticipate handing the case over to the jury by the end of the week.

Apparently not!

Trial begins against 2 involved in polygamist child sex abuse case

Samuel Bateman took more than 20 women and girls as spiritual wives from 2019 to 2022, leveraging his status as the leader of the polygamist Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

Federal prosecutors Tuesday began presenting their case on the first day of the trial against two Arizona men accused of aiding and participating in a child sex abuse ring involving 10 girls as young as nine years old.

Brothers LaDell and Torrance Bistline are members of the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, an offshoot of the Mormon Church that still practices polygamy, and, according to the government, followers of its leader Samuel Rappylee Bateman, who in April admitted to having regular sex with his ten child brides and at least 12 other spiritual wives.

Spiritual???? Sounds pretty fleshly to me.

Before 15 jurors in a Phoenix courtroom Tuesday afternoon, attorney Kathy Henry called Bateman “evil” and “a monster,” but insisted that her client, Torrance Bistline, had no knowledge of, let alone involvement in, Bateman’s sexual crimes.

“He’s raped nobody,” Henry said. “He’s exploited no children. He didn’t even hang out with Bateman. He was too busy perfecting his business.”

Torrance Bistline began making large profits off his company Velociwrapper, which sells an automatic cable wrapping machine for solar and wind farms, around the same time Bateman rose to power in the FLDS community. Henry said Bateman and another FLDS member named Maroni Johnson, who worked with Torrance Bistline, took advantage of him and took control over his profits, using the money to buy Bentley cars and other extravagant purchases.

Johnson also admitted to having sex with children, and will be called to testify in the trial.

“This case is nothing more than Maroni Johnson trying to take down Torrance Bistline and his company,” Henry said.

Jacob Faussette, representing LaDell Bistline Jr., painted Bateman and Johnson as the villains of the narrative, taking advantage of those around them. He asked the jury to pay attention to three key elements of the case while they listen over the next several weeks: “Money, sex and power.”

He didn’t deny LaDell Bistline’s participation in the child sex abuse ring.

Oklahoma police officer and wife charged with

child sexual assault and abuse

A Prague police officer, Jeffrey Frisbie, and his wife, Kimberly Frisbie were arrested for child sexual assault and child abuse.

Jeffery Frisbie was charged with 22 counts of lewd acts with a child under 16 and two counts of rape in the first degree.

According to an affidavit filed by Lincoln County on Sept. 10, Frisbie was investigated for allegations that he had sexually abused three girls between the ages of 8 and 10.

The three children were placed in the care of the Frisbies as foster children.

The affidavit also documented forensic interviews with the children in which they expressed that Frisbie had inappropriately touched them.

Additionally, a former foster child of the Frisbies was interviewed. She stated that Jeffrey Frisbie had raped her while she lived in their home.

The foster children also disclosed in the interview that Kimberly Frisbie would punish the children by making them stand facing a fall (wall?) for long periods, hitting them, and pulling their hair.

Court documents also revealed that Kimberly Frisbie kicked and strangled foster children in the past.

And yet, she got more foster children???!!!

California man sentenced to
325 years for 13 felony counts
of child molestation

VENTURA COUNTY, Calif. – On Tuesday, Ventura County District Attorney Erik Nasarenko announced that Jesus Andrew Sapien of Port Hueneme was sentenced to 325 years after he was convicted of 13 felony counts of lewd acts on a child as well as multiple special allegations.

Sapien was convicted by a jury on Aug. 12, 2024, of 13 felony counts and the following special allegations:

  • PC 667.61(e)(4)-Sex Crimes Aggravated Circumstances
  • PC 667.61(j)(2)-Victim Under the Age of 14
  • PC 1203.066(a)(8)-Substantial Sexual Conduct
  • CRC 4.421(a)(11)-Defendant Took Advantage of a Position of Trust
  • CRC 4.421(a)(3)-Victim was Vulnerable

In May of 2020, the mother of a six-year-old sexual assault survivor reported the molestation to detectives with the Port Hueneme Police Department after the child told her mother that Sapien had molested her several times over multiple months explained the Ventura County District Attorney's Office in a press release about the conviction Tuesday.

According to the Ventura County District Attorney's Office, two more children came forward to disclose they had also been subjected to repeated sexual abuse by Sapien after he had gained access to all of the victims through "a familial relationship".

"The defendant betrayed the trust of a close-knit family to commit unspeakable acts of sexual abuse against multiple children," said Deputy District Attorney Bejamin Moreno, who prosecuted the case. "Today’s sentence reflects the severity of those crimes. While nothing can undo the harm the defendant has caused, I hope this sentence provides the victims and their families the closure they so profoundly deserve and ensures that the defendant will never again harm a child."

Pedophiles have no moral compass whatsoever!

The sentence means the children can grow up without fear of encountering Sapien again. Well done, Your Honour.
