AI Deepfake > CSAM increased 300% year over year in Poland; AI tools for all ages in China

Polish cyber probe reveals shocking 300% surge in deepfake child sex abuse content in 2025

Cases of AI-generated material depicting child sexual abuse have surged by 300% year-on-year, according to a new report from Poland’s internet research body.

The findings published Tuesday by Dyżurnet.pl, the internet monitoring team under Poland’s national cybersecurity institute tracking online child abuse reports, show AI-generated content became significantly more prevalent in 2025, including cases using real children’s images altered by AI.

“It includes, among other things, realistic images created by AI, through the so-called ‘nudify’ apps that allow the digital ‘undressing’ of people in the photos,” Martyna Różycka, head of the Dyżurnet.pl team, said.

“Put simply, if a parent uploads a photo of their child online, it may happen that the child’s face is later used in a pornographic video […] the likelihood of such a situation increases with the development of AI,” she added.

In total, Dyżurnet.pl said it received more than 17,000 reports of content potentially including child abuse in 2025. Of those, 250 cases involved AI-generated child sexual abuse material, up from 88 in 2024.

Encrypted platforms

The annual report also found that offenders are increasingly sharing illegal material in closed groups and through encrypted messaging services, using passwords and expiring links in an effort to avoid detection.

Dyżurnet said Telegram has become one of the fastest growing sites for the distribution of illegal content, as it allows encrypted communication.

In 2025, Dyżurnet.pl received nearly 600 reports about illegal content on Telegram, of which 440 involved material depicting the sexual abuse of children.

“We are seeing a significant rise in the role of messaging apps in the distribution of CSAM (Child Sexual Abuse Material) – for the first time, it is this significant,” Różycka said, adding that encrypted channels are more difficult for authorities to monitor and analyse.

Nine percent of servers hosting URLs containing sexual child abuse content were located in Poland, with the country ranking third among all analysed locations.

Finland was identified as the largest host, accounting for 38% of cases recorded by the Dyżurnet.pl

AI Tools Open New Front in Child Sexual Abuse in China, Report Warns

A surge in artificial intelligence tools and deepfake pornography is creating vast new avenues for child sexual abuse in China, compounding a crisis long dominated by educators and family members, according to a recent report by a Beijing-based children’s charity.

The 2025 Report on the Statistical Analysis of Child Sexual Abuse Cases, published by the Girls Protection team under the Beijing Zhongyi Charity Foundation, analyzed 204 publicly reported offenses in 2025 involving 690 child victims. The youngest victim was just 4 years old, and girls accounted for 95.69% of the targets. Perpetrators ranged in age from boys under 10 to a 93-year-old man.
