Texas man gets 25 years for sex abuse of child
By Jeff Awtrey,
TYLER, TX (KLTV) -

A Lindale man has pleaded guilty to sexually abusing a child and has accepted a 25-year prison sentence.

Court records show Ryan Alan Stuenkel, 23, entered the plea on a charge of first-degree continuous sex abuse of a child in Judge Kerry Russell’s courtroom on Monday.

Lindale police arrested Stuenkel on March 1, 2017. He was indicted on the charge on June 8 and has been held in the Smith County Jail since July 26.

According to the indictment, Stuenkel sexually assaulted a child under the age of 14 over more than a month's time in 2017.

Girl, 5, is third accuser in Sioux Falls daycare
sexual abuse case

Trevor Mitchell, tmitchell@argusleader.com

A 75-year-old man who ran an in-home daycare in Sioux Falls for 25 years has been arrested again after a third accusation of sexual contact with a child.

David Hirsch was arrested Friday morning after a 5-year-old girl told her mother that Hirsch had touched her sometime between June 2016 and June 2017, when she would have been 4 years old.

Hirsch and his wife ran the daycare for 25 years until it closed in June 2017, according to Sioux Falls police spokesman Sam Clemens.

Hirsch is currently facing sexual contact with a child charges after a 14-year-old girl said she often visited Hirsch in his home workshop until one day in 2012 he put his hand inside her underwear, court documents say.

When police asked Hirsch what he'd like them to tell the victim's mother, Hirsch said, "Tell her I was just giving her a hug and she likes hugs. She was a real nice girl, a real lovable girl."

Another woman told police in early January that Hirsch had victimized her 23 years ago, when she would have been 8 years old.

Clemens said the grand jury in Hirsch's case was informed of the accusations, and found probable cause to add it to his current trial.

It's likely that more victims are present in this case, Clemens said — and anyone with information that they or a child may have been victimized should immediately contact police.

Hirsch posted bond after being charged in December. Records show Hirsch is currently being held at the Minnehaha County jail on a $50,000 bond.

Former New York district attorney arrested in
Tucson on child sex abuse charges
Caitlin Schmidt Arizona Daily Star

A former New York district attorney was arrested at his home in the Tucson mountains last week, in connection with multiple child sex abuse charges.

Marc Temkin is facing 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, said Pima County Sheriff's Department spokesman, Deputy Ryan Inglett.

Last week, several images depicting juvenile girls in a sexually explicit manner were uploaded from an IP address at a home in the 800 block of North Via Roma, Inglett said.

PCSD detectives and Tucson Police Department's internet crimes against children detectives determined that the home and the IP address belongs to Temkin, 66, who is a retired district Attorney from New York state, Inglett said.

Detectives served a warrant on Temkin's home Jan. 26, arresting him for 10 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, Inglett said.

The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.

3 indicted in separate Alabama child sex abuse cases
By Carol Robinson crobinson@al.com

Three men have been indicted in separate cases of child sex abuse, including one who already is a convicted sex offender.

A Jefferson County grand jury issued indictments against William Trusty, 49, Johns Vincent Ford, 49 and James Lamont Harris, 40, according to court records released Friday.

Trusty, also known as William David Dempsey, was initially arrested in November on charges involving two girls. He lives in Brookside.

Charging documents say the incidents happened in July 2016. The records don't provide the ages of the girls, but at least one is under the age of 12. Trusty is accused of "sexual contact by forcible compulsion."

The indictments charge him with one count of sex abuse of a child under the age of 12, and four counts of first-degree sex abuse. He has been in the Jefferson County Jail with bonds totaling $55,000 since November 2017.

Ford, who lives in Anniston was arrested on Thursday, according to Jefferson County Jail records. He is charged with one count of first-degree sexual abuse and one count of sex abuse of a child under the age of 12. His bonds total $45,00.

Harris, of Birmingham, was arrested on Wednesday, records show. He is charged with sex abuse of a child and two counts of sodomy. His bond is set at $150,000.

Court records do not provide any additional information in the cases of Ford and Harris. Efforts to determine the investigating agencies weren't immediately successful.

Harris is a convicted sex offender. He was convicted in 2003 on a sodomy charge involving a 14-year-old. He was sentenced to five years in prison with one to serve.

Alabama man raped, impregnated mentally-incapacited sister, records state
By Carol Robinsoncrobinson@al.com

A young Blount County man was arrested late Monday afternoon on charges that he raped his sister and impregnated her.

Eric Arthur Williams, 20, is charged with first-degree rape and incest. Both are felonies.

According to an affidavit filed with the Blount County clerk's office, Williams engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim, "a female with diminished mental capacity who was also his sister." The adult victim, court records state, is not capable of consent.

The alleged crimes happened in February 2017. The victim became pregnant and, due to the "mental functioning" of the victim, she could not carry the child to term.

A DNA test on the fetus confirmed that Williams was the father. Investigators with the Blount County District Attorney's Office arrested Williams late Monday afternoon. He is being held in the Blount County Jail with bonds totaling $75,000.

Williams' wife declined to comment on the charges. Efforts to locate other family for comment weren't immediately successful.

Marshall Arts Instructor Arrested and Man Sentenced to 218 Years for CSA

Alabama man gets 218 years for child sex abuse

By William Thornton

William Reynolds Jr.

Calhoun County authorities said the testimony of a child was crucial in the trial of a Jacksonville man who was sentenced this month to 218 years in prison for child sexual abuse.

Assistant District Attorney Jayme Amberson said William Randolph Reynolds, 57, was sentenced to two 99-year sentences for two counts of sodomy and 20 years for sexual abuse, all to run consecutively.

Reynolds was convicted in July. Prosecutors said he performed and received oral sex from a 7-year-old victim between August 2012 and May 2014.

"It's extremely difficult to try cases like this when you have victims this young," Amberson said in a phone interview. "There are a lot of obstacles, because generally the child is the only witness to the crime. And this victim was extremely courageous."

Owner of Washington state martial arts studio accused of child sex abuse
by KOMO Staff

Renton PD serves warrants in connection with the child rape case, including this martial arts business in Renton. KOMO Photo

RENTON, Wash. -- Police have arrested the operator of a martial arts studio for having sexual conduct with underage girls.

Police arrested a 42-year-old Bellevue man who owns Lee's Martial Arts, located at 405 S. Third St. in Renton.

The man waved his right to appear in court Thursday. He is being held without bail, and has not been charged.

Police say a complaint to Child Protective Services began the investigation. Police say a martial arts student told investigators that she was 15 years old when the man began developing a sexual relationship with her.

Court documents say the man and the girl who was a student at the studio had a sexual relationship that began with an exchange of Snapchat photos. First they were clothed, then naked. The two had sex at the man's home and at his studios in Renton and Maple Valley, court documents say.

Two other students have come forward, saying that the man sent them inappropriate pictures on Snapchat. Investigators are checking to see if there are additional victims.

Renton detectives have served search warrants on his Bellevue home and his Renton martial arts studio.

In an affidavit used to obtain a search warrant for Snapchat records, a King County Sheriff's Office detective writes that in June, deputies went to Dimmitt Middle School in the Renton School District. At the school, two sisters said their older sisters, ages 15 and 17, had been sent inappropriate photos by the man.

Deputies talked to the older sisters at Renton High School. They said they were martial arts students of the man, had visited his home and were friends of his daughters.

They got Snapchat photos from the man. They showed him naked. In one case, his genitals were blacked out. In another, the caption "Did you remember to brush your teeth" was over his genitals.

The older sister quit going to the martial arts studio. She told deputies that she had gone to dinner with the man and he had tried to hold her hand.

She also said in December 2014 she had been at a Christmas party at the man's house. She was downstairs in the house by herself. She was lying on a couch and using her phone when he climbed on top of her, the affidavit says. She pushed him off and he stopped his behavior. In April 2016, he took her to dinner. They went to her home, where he took a shower and emerged wearing only a towel.

He laid next to the girl and said they could cuddle with their clothes on or naked, according to the affidavit. She told him that she was uncomfortable, so he left and got dressed.

A Catholic Coach and a Doctor Among Today's Perverts and Pedophiles

Former youth league coach arrested for child sex abuse
Jeffrey Ramos, 48, is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child

By Ben Spicer - Web Editor , Pilar Arias - Reporter

SAN ANTONIO, Texas - The Bexar County Sheriff's Office has arrested a youth league coach accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Image result for Jeffrey RamosJeffrey Ramos, 48, was arrested by deputies Saturday and is charged with continuous sexual abuse of a child. KSAT-12 has learned the alleged victim is a 12-year-old girl.

BCSO spokesman James Keith said investigators were called to the victim's school, Luna Middle School, on May 31 after being contacted by Child Protective Services. The victim told investigators Ramos sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions from summer through December of 2015.

“This young lady decided to make this outcry because she was concerned that he was going to get to other children,” Keith said. “He admitted to possibly exposing himself. That alone is enough right there to make sure he’s taken off the streets and that he’s put into custody.”

Keith is reminding parents that just because they send their child to a reputable organization for extracurricular activities does not guarantee safety.

“Do your homework. Make sure you know who your children are with. Make sure that you have a conversation with your children so that they know if somebody does something to them they’re not supposed to, they need to let you know,” Keith said.

At the time of the alleged assault, Ramos was a Catholic Youth Organization coach at St. Anthony Mary Claret, according to the church’s CYO website.

The Archdiocese of San Antonio said in a statement Monday afternoon that Ramos was an unpaid volunteer who passed a criminal background check in Oct. 2014, and did take a sexual misconduct training class.

The Archdiocese of San Antonio remains strongly committed to restoring trust and healing the wounds of anyone who may have been hurt by sexual abuse. The Archdiocese will continue to work toward making every Catholic parish, school and institution a safe harbor for all. Nothing will deter the Archdiocese from this vital effort toward a better future for everyone in need.

The Church also said there will be an announcement in St. Anthony Mary Claret Church bulletin this weekend.

Anyone else victimized or knows of a victim is asked to call the Bexar County Sheriff's Office tip line at (210) 335-TIPS.

A long-practicing Alabama doctor faces multiple charges related to child pornography and sexual abuse.

Dr. Ruepert Don Bryan, 80, of Calera, a successful ear, nose and throat physician in Alabaster, was charged on Friday with three counts of pornography with minors and one count of sexual abuse first degree after being identified in a grainy video, according to AL.com.

The victims are juveniles but authorities wouldn't say how many there were or give their ages.

An investigation was sparked when a member of the community came forward with 'an abandoned videotape' that showed a person who was later identified as the doctor. In screengrabs from the video, Bryan appears to be shirtless.

Photos from a video were released to the public in hopes of identifying the man in them - a TV viewer called in the identification and Dr. Bryan was arrested a few hours laterDr. Bryan allegedly appeared on a videotape that led to arrest on child sex abuse charges

Police would not reveal what happened in the video, but Shelby County Sheriff John Samaniego said that Bryan was likely a pedophile and had been abusing juveniles for years.

The person who turned in the video was not related to Bryan, and the warrant says the abuse took place in the summer of 2003, reports ABC 3340. One of the victims was 'physically helpless or mentally incapacitated,' says the outlet.

Screengrabs from the video were released to the public on Thursday in hopes of identifying the suspect, and hours later, Bryan was apprehended. Police say it was a television viewer who recognized the doctor, according to WVTM13.

Police said the investigation was just beginning.

'Who knows how many victims there are over the lifespan of [the] individual who is 80 years old,' said Samaniego. 'We have multiple victims already that we have talked to. The commission of these crimes is usually a lifelong behavior until they are caught and incarcerated. In the research I've done in my career, they don't change their behavior.'

'In my 40 year career, I’ve seen a lot of crime, Samaniego said. 'This one shocked my conscious.'

Samaniego said there was so far no evidence that any crime was committed inside of the doctor's office, however bags of evidence were removed from his office at 1022 Tower of Shelby Baptist Medical Center, reports ABC 3340.

Bryan had reportedly never been disciplined by Alabama Board of Medical Examiners & Medical Licensure Commission of Alabama, nor had anyone ever complained about his behavior.

He remains in Shelby County jail on $500,000 bond.

Multiple media outlets reports 46-year-old Lt. Col. Christopher Wood was convicted Sunday after a two-day court martial at Fort Rucker in south Alabama.

Officials have said the charges stem from an undercover operation in 2014 that initially led to Wood facing state charges of child solicitation.

Daleville police officials said their investigation showed Wood traveled to meet a teenage girl for sex while he was stationed at Fort Rucker. Dale County District Attorney Kirke Adams dropped the state charges to allow the Army to prosecute the case.

Wood's sentencing is scheduled for June 4. He faces up to 15 years in military prison and dishonorable discharge from the Army.

Alabama Husband & Wife Arrested for Separate Sexual Incidents with Students

At a Christian School, nonetheless

A married couple were each arrested within two days of one another, both for having sex with two separate students at Pickens Academy High School in Alabama.

James Parker, 32, was arrested Wednesday for allegedly being “sexually involved” with a former student, a female, under the age of 19.

Parker’s wife, Charli was arrested Monday for having a sexual relationship with a male student.

On Tuesday, the 30-year-old woman was charged with 11 counts of engaging in a sexual act with a student under the age of 19, court documents said the relationship lasted from October 2014 to March 2016, the Birmingham News reported.

James and Charli Parker were both teachers and basketball coaches at the private Christian school in Carrollton, but District Attorney Chris McCool said the incidents are not related:

“The incidents are separate and unrelated in place of manner of commission. None of the criminal sexual activity occurred at the school,” he said.

Headmaster of Pickens Academy released a statement following the second arrest and asked for “prayers”:

“The primary concern of Pickens Academy is the safety of our students. Pickens Academy is very upset about the allegations against our employee. The employee will be suspended immediately and further action may be taken upon investigation. I request prayers for our school family and for all families involved.”

The arrests come one week after a bill was proposed that would require Alabama teachers to undergo one hour of training per year on ‒ among other things ‒ sexual or romantic contact in the classroom.

The Alabama State Department of Education said there have been nearly 200 investigations into inappropriate interactions between teachers and students since 2011 in Alabama alone.

The former chief of staff at the US Department of Education, Terry Abbott, called Alabama “ground zero” for the problem, saying the situation is an “epidemic”:

“Too many districts in Alabama and elsewhere have no policy prohibiting secret electronic communication between teachers and students. That’s a highway to hell”, said Abbott, according to wbrc.com.

Child sex abuse of all kinds seem to be epidemic in Alabama. I've posted more stories on this blog from Alabama than any other state in the union. Somebody needs to do something; and I think a lot of people need to do a lot of things.

An investigation is ongoing. If convicted the Parkers face up to 20 years in prison.

Sex Ed for Alabama Teachers? Bill Calls for Training to not Sleep with Students

© John Gress
© John Gress / Reuters

Alabama teachers are apparently the subject of too many schoolgirl fantasies. "Don't stand so close" to the children is the message behind legislation introduced to annually train teachers in how to avoid having sex with their students.

The Educator-Student Interaction Training Act would require one hour of training per year on sexual or romantic contact, social media interactions, interactions outside the classroom, and the use of corporal punishment and physical restraints in classrooms.

The bill cites increasing reports of inappropriate relations between teachers and students, in person and online.

Two male assistant football coaches were arrested in March in a Limestone County high school for having sex with different students, while a female teacher from a different school was arrested for sleeping with at least two students, the Decatur Daily reported.

In 2011, a female teacher was charged with sexually abusing three students; she pleaded guilty to two counts and was sentenced to 15 years in jail.

The legislation, proposed by Republican Senator Cam Ward, is expected to go the floor this week after being passed by the Senate’s Education Policy Committee, according to the Decatur Daily.

Committee Chairman Dick Brewbaker, a former teacher, abstained from voting on the bill last week and said he’d probably vote against it in the full Senate, calling it an insult to educators.

“I knew to leave the people in the little desks alone,” he said. “Teachers who have inappropriate relations with students aren’t doing it because they don’t know it’s wrong.”

I have to disagree with chairman Brewbaker as long as the training package contained behavioral limits that are well above the level of sexual abuse. That would mean making it a actionable, disciplinary offence for teachers to hang-out with students off campus, for teachers being alone with an individual student as much as is possible, for teachers to text, or PM a students except regarding school work. Such things would decrease the probability of any intimacy developing, or any temptation rising up.

Yes, teachers know what is wrong or right, but if a little training can help them avoid getting into a situation where they have to choose right or wrong, then that training would definitely be useful.

Alabama Minister Arrested Again for Child Sex Abuse; Wife Accused of Asking Child to Lie

13th Arrest; 3rd for child sex abuse

By Cassie Fambro | cfambro@al.com
Edwin White, a former minister, is accused of several counts
 of child sex abuse. (MCSO)

Edwin White was arrested and taken to jail again on Wednesday on charges of child sex abuse, according to jail records.

White was indicted on child sex abuse charges in October after three female relatives of White came forward and said he abused them.

Mobile County District Attorney Nicki Patterson told AL.com that White is back in jail because he reportedly abused one of the child victims again.

His wife also found herself behind bars.

White's wife Lakisha was arrested on Jan. 15 and charged with obstructing prosecution.

Patterson said that when the child said she had been abused again, Lakisha told the child to keep quiet.

White had previously served as an associate minister at a Prichard church. Pritchard is just northwest of Mobile.

Lakisha White was released on bond; her husband remains in jail as of Wednesday morning.

This marks White's 13th arrest, the third for child sex abuse.

Brittney Wood's Aunt Sentenced for Child Sex Abuse

Aunt of missing Alabama teen sentenced to multiple terms of 20 years

BAY MINETTE, Ala.
Brittney Wood - victim of incest, missing since 19
America's Number One family of degenerates

The aunt of a missing south Alabama teenager believed to be a victim of a family child sex abuse ring was sentenced Thursday on sodomy and child sex abuse charges.

Mendy Wood Kent was sentenced Thursday to 20 years on each of the 2 charges, according to Mobile County Circuit Court records. Her sentences will run consecutively.

Brittney Wood, 19, was last seen in 2012 and is presumed dead. Authorities believe she was among the young victims of a group of relatives and friends who sexually abused their own children and swapped them for sex for years.

The teen was last seen with her uncle Donnie Holland, who was found with a gunshot to the head and died in what was ruled a suicide days after Wood disappeared.

Mendy Wood's attorney, John Grow, has filed a motion for a new trial, saying the court should have granted a motion for a mistrial. The motion says an unnamed source said a juror "stated that he had made up his mind on day one."

Several of the teen's relatives — including two uncles, her older brother and a cousin — have already been sentenced in the case. Some have yet to go to trial.

One of the many family perverts who
probably abused Brittney and others
Wood's mother, Chessie Wood, was charged with sodomy. Mobile County court records say her trial is expected to begin March 16.

Dustin Kent, Mendy's husband, was recently sentenced to 17 years in jail.

Brittany Wood, then 19, was last seen in 2012 and was molested by several family members.

The case has gained national attention for the sordid details of the incest ring in the family. Click here for the family tree of charges.

Alabama Man and Wife Each Get 119-year Sentence for Child Sex Abuse

Kent Faulk
AL.com
Toni Jo Minot, left, and Lyndon Minot
A registered sex offender from Chilton County last week got the same prison sentence his wife had gotten weeks earlier for the same crime - 119 years in prison for sodomy and sexual abuse of a 9-year-old boy.

Lyndon Minot, 56, was sentenced on Oct. 26 by Jefferson County Bessemer Cutoff Circuit Judge David Hobdy to the maximum allowed – 99 years for sodomy and 20 years for sexual abuse, according to court records.

Minot had been convicted Sept. 18 on the charges.

Minot's wife, Toni Jo Minot, 40, of Verbena, was also sentenced by Hobdy on Sept. 30 to 119 years in prison. She had been convicted by a Bessemer Cutoff jury on Aug. 19.

It is not clear how Toni Jo Minot committed sodomy, and I don't really want to think about it, but we can assume she did, hence the sentence. She is appealing the verdict.

The Minots, who had maintained their innocence, will not be eligible for parole because the victim was under 12 when the crimes happened.

The victim in both cases was the same 9-year old boy. The incidents the Minots were convicted of occurred in the Bessemer Cutoff of Jefferson County in 2008 and 2009.

Lyndon Minot has been a registered sex offender since he pleaded guilty in 1999 to first-degree sexual abuse, court records show. The victim in that case was an 8-year-old boy, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's Community Information Center.

Assistant District Attorney Leslie Schiffman, after Ms. Minot's sentencing, had called  the Minots' marriage "a marriage made in hell."

Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Bray says police were called when two children were spotted playing in a roadway naked and unsupervised in an Albertville neighborhood in December.

The children were interviewed at the Children's Advocacy Center after police did a welfare check during the investigation.

Bray says the 4-year-old child disclosed information that led to Sparks' arrest.

Man Sentenced to Life in Prison for Sex Abuse of Child Younger Than 6

Another Alabama pervert story

Emanuel Lee Yarbrough on the stand in Calhoun Co. Circuit Court in August
Stephen Gross, The Anniston Star

By Kirsten Fiscus,
Star Staff Writer

A Calhoun County circuit judge Monday sentenced an Oxford man to life in prison without parole for the sexual abuse of a child younger than 6.

Emanuel Yarbrough, 34, was convicted in August of first-degree sodomy and first-degree sexual abuse of a relative. The minimum and maximum punishments for sexual abuse of a child younger than 6 is life without parole, according to Alabama law.

In Yarbrough’s last hearing, an expert witness called by Yarbrough’s attorneys, Jake Mathews and Alyssa Enzor, testified to other rehabilitative services Yarbrough could be sentenced to participate in.

Mathews and Enzor argued the life-without-parole sentence, imposed on a first offender, violated the Eighth Amendment ban on cruel and unusual punishment.

Mathews urged the court to look at the number of crimes being punished by life without parole, and pointed out that a large number of those are violent offenses.

“When you receive a life-without-parole sentence you’re saying in one sense they have no ability to be rehabilitated,” Mathews said. “When you contrast the people who are getting life-without-parole sentences they are violent offenders. People were killed in those cases.”

Is he suggesting that rape and sodomy of a child less than 6 years old is not violent?

The state’s prosecutor, Jayme Amberson, pointed out that the crime occurred behind closed doors and the court couldn’t know what “forces of coercion” Yarbrough may have used. Amberson argued Yarbrough used his status within the victim’s family to force his advances on the child.

“Just because he didn’t use a gun doesn’t mean that wasn’t a violent act,” Amberson said.
Arthur Ray Morris Jr., Yarbrough’s brother-in-law, testified during the hearing on behalf of the victim. Morris pleaded with the court to uphold the life-without-parole statute citing the multiple opportunities Yarbrough had to seek help.

“What about the child that won’t be able to grow up with a normal childhood,” Morris asked.  “You can only bear so much in life. Perhaps counseling would be good for him, but why can’t he do that while he is in jail?”

During his opportunity to speak, Yarbrough apologized to his family, his church, and everyone he hurt in the process.

“I never got help and I should have,” Yarbrough said. “I would love to ask this court for mercy. My children need their father. They need their father to get help and to somehow be in their lives.”

They needed that before you started raping your child!

Judge Debra Jones sided with the law in Yarbrough’s sentencing stating that the Legislature creates the laws as the voice of the people and holds the right to create a classification of people, such as children, that need special protection.

Mathews and Enzor stated during the hearing that they would file a motion for a new trial and file for an appeal of the sentencing.

Church Hires Choir Director in Spite of Child Rape Charges

BEDFORD, Texas – Members of a Bedford church congregation are reeling from revelations that their interim choir director was on bond on rape charges in Alabama. (Another Alabaman pedophile?)

Charles Kyle Adcock, who goes by Kyle, was arrested in Frisco last August after being indicted in Muscle Shoals, Ala., on sexual abuse charges. His $500,000 bond was revoked Thursday afternoon.

The news shocked church members, according to one man who agreed to share information, but not his name.
Charles Kyle Adcock

He said he was not among a very small handful of people who knew of 31-year-old Kyle Adcock's past; that Adcock had been indicted in Alabama for the repeated sexual assault of a 14-year-old girl in his youth group there. Adcock was youth minister at Woodward Avenue Baptist Church in Muscle Shoals until 2012.

At First Baptist in Bedford, Pastor Steve Knott hired Adcock to lead the adult choir and work with the church's audio/video equipment.

"We think it's incredibly irresponsible and reckless to have hired him in the first place," said Amy Smith with the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests (SNAP).

Smith said it doesn't matter that Adcock was not directly working with children in Bedford.

"Having a position as minister automatically places him in a position of trust," she said.

The church member who spoke with News 8 said a group of members talked to the pastor after learning of Adcock's past.

He said they also had a long talk with Adcock and decided to support him. The choir director has pleaded not guilty.

Adcock was arrested in Frisco in August of 2014 on the Alabama charges. First Baptist in Bedford hired him while he was free on a $500,000 bond.

"That's very alarming," Smith said.

But church members say they have a history with the Adcock family. His father directed choir here until his son agreed to step in on an interim, part-time basis.

A member tells us Kyle Adcock is well liked. But there is fear the congregation could pay a price for a decision most of them knew nothing about.

At the very least the pastor(s) who hired him should be fired and the people who agreed to keep it quiet should be disciplined or shown the door.

Erin's Law Works Again

Dated in May, this is another example of Erin's Law at work

GADSDEN, Alabama. (WHNT) – The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office says a school presentation about sexual abuse resulted in a man being put in jail on child sex abuse and pornography charges.

Thomas Aaron Craig
Thomas Aaron Craig, 30, is charged in connection with sexual abuse and pornography with minors, according to Sheriff Todd Entrekin.  Craig, of Gadsden, was arrested on Thursday, May 21. He is charged with one count of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old, one count of possession of child pornography and one count of production of pornography with minors.  All are felonies.

Investigators say Craig allegedly sexually abused a 9-year-old girl over a two-year period.  The girl saw a presentation at school about what to do if you were being physically or sexually abused, and came forward to tell her teacher this type of thing was happening to her.  The teacher notified the Etowah County Sheriff’s Office and Etowah County DHR.

Investigators say Craig gave consent for them to search his cell phone, and they found more than 35 pornographic photos.  Craig is being held in the Etowah County Detention Center on $150,000 bond.

The Etowah County Sheriff’s Office thanks the James M. Barrie Center for helping in the investigation.

‘It Can’t Be True’ Mentality Dangerous with Child Sex Abuse

BY SHEVAUN BRYAN
WHNT19 News

MADISON COUNTY, Alabama – The news of former Subway spokesman Jared Fogle seeking out sexual interactions with minors as well as possession child pornography is making headlines nationwide.

But to prosecutors who deal with these sorts of cases, the emerging facts bring to light the public tendency to deny that such things can happen.

“For those of us who do this work on a daily basis, we know that horror exists,” said Jason Scully-Clemmons of Madison County District Attorney Office’s Family Violence and Sexual Assault Unit. “So from a practical perspective, that denial is dangerous to the jury system.”

Scully-Clemmons went on to explain that it’s easier to deny it than accept that a ‘seemingly nice and normal’ person can possibly engage in such activity, making it harder on attorneys.

“That kind of denial, what it does is that it raise the burden beyond ‘beyond a reasonable doubt,’” Scully-Clemmons explained.

In Jared’s case, a ‘nice guy’ with an inspiring story adds another layer.

“People engage in denial because they have an image on how things are supposed to be and it’s accentuated by the celebrity of the person and their public persona,” said Scully-Clemmons.

But he knows from his experience that people, specifically children, rarely have reason to lie about such events. Furthermore, in private cases, the offender is most often someone that the victim knows.

As far as Jared Fogle’s case, Scully-Clemmons explains that a large percentage of those caught for possession of child pornography often later admit to engaging in sexual abuse with a minor as well.

This kind of denial is dangerous on so many levels. Aside from jurors not wanting to believe nice guys can be pedophiles, parents and teachers don't want to believe their own children when they come to them to complain. This attitude is improving, but still has a long way to go.

Then there is the denial by government officials of the incredible amount of child sex abuse that occurs in almost every country on the planet. Australia is dealing with it better than any country with their long and expensive Royal Commission, and Britain is being forced ever-so-reluctantly into a major inquiry. Beyond that, I see few other countries dealing seriously with the issue. India is trying but fighting many centuries of tradition, and the US is implementing Erin's Law in many states, a consequence of tireless work by Erin Merryn to convince state lawmakers of the need. Nothing major is being done nationally except for providing funding for the implementation of Erin's Law.

One other 'denial demographic' needs to be mentioned, and that may be you. The general population does not want to talk about it, read about it, or even think about it. That it will affect one-in-five of our children ought to have us all screaming from the roof-tops for something to be done. But we don't! The media knows it is not a subject people want to have brought up in the news daily, so they only present the most 'significant' stories. Consequently, the general population does not have a good concept of the extraordinary extent of CSA. And, because of that, we often don't prepare our children to deal with the possibility of becoming a victim. In other words - we are making the problem worse.

Alabama Pedophile Gets Soft Touch in Plea Bargain, Again

See, there's another one, just like that!

Alabama
A Birmingham man convicted in the sex abuse of a minor 12 years ago pleaded guilty to a new charge with a different victim in Jefferson County this week.

David Brian Dove, 47, surrendered to the Jefferson County Jail this morning, jail records show. He turned himself in to begin serving his new sentence after pleading guilty to first-degree sex  abuse on Monday.

The most recent case began in July of 2012 when the minor female victim told her mother that Dove had behaved inappropriately and had touched her in a manner that made her feel uncomfortable, authorities said.

Jefferson County sheriff's detectives investigated the case and, in September of 2012, obtained a warrant for first-degree sexual abuse. He was arrested and posted bond. He was later indicted as well.

On Monday, Dove pleaded guilty to the charge. Initially he had also been charged with failure to register as a convicted sex offender, but that charge was dismissed Monday. Under this week's plea agree agreement, Dove was sentenced to 10 years, but will serve only eight months in the Jefferson County Jail, court records show. His sentence began today, and he will be on probation for five years after he completes his jail term.

Dove was arrested in 2002 when he was 34 after authorities said he engaged in sexual intercourse with a female who was between the ages of 12 and 16. He was arrested on rape and sodomy charges, but pleaded guilty in 2003 to the misdemeanor charge of sexual misconduct in what court records described as a "best interest plea" decided upon by both parties. He received a 12-month suspended sentence in that case.

No wonder there are so many deviates in Alabama! Gets off with a suspended sentence for rape and sodomy of a minor, then has to serve only 8 months of a 10 year sentence. Good grief! Don't judges and prosecutors believe in protecting children? Because if they do, they're doing a lousy job of it.

"One of the Worst Child Sexual Abuse Cases I have Seen in my Career"

Alabama cements it's leadership as the most perverse state in the union with another horrific family sex abuse story. Incest seems to be a lifestyle option here.

CULLMAN, Ala. (WIAT) — Wednesday, 24-year-old Amber Maritta Cartwright of Crane Hill and 23-year-old Zachary Levi Burns of Cullman were arrested on several counts of sexual abuse of two children, both under age 12. Cartwright also has two charges of enticing a child for immoral purpose and incest pending.

According to the Cullman County Sheriff’s Office, the two victims reported the alleged sexual abuse to a relative, who alerted investigators with the Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said that Cartwright and Burns would engage in sex acts with each other, and force the children to participate in the acts.

Authorities confirmed to WIAT that Cartwright is the mother of the victims, which have been taken from her custody and are with D.H.R.

“It’s safe to say this is one of the worst child sexual abuse cases I have seen in my career,” Sheriff Matt Gentry said. “These children are very brave for coming forward to help us put these predators behind bars. There is no punishment severe enough for these two that fits this crime.”

Cartwright is being charged with sodomy in the 1st degree and two counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12. Two counts of enticing a child for immoral purpose and incest are pending.

Burns is also being charged with sodomy in the 1st degree and two counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12. Burns also has two charges of enticing a child for immoral purpose pending.

Both are currently held without bond in the Cullman County Detention Center.
