Southern California Pervert Arrested for Child Sex Abuse of 3 Small Children

A 21-year-old Banning man has been charged with the sexual abuse of three children – a 5-year-old girl, a 6-year-old boy and a 9-year-old boy, according to sheriff's officials and court records.

David Joseph Goodman of Banning, CA
David Joseph Goodman has pleaded not guilty to six felonies: three counts of lewd acts with a child; a count of sexual penetration; a count of sex or sodomy with a child under 10; and a count of sending harmful material to a minor, court records show.

The case began Friday, Dec. 19, after deputies received a report of a man — later identified as Goodman — pleasuring himself in the presence of children in Yukaipa, according to a San Bernardino County sheriff's news release.

Detectives with the Crimes Against Children Detail followed up on the case and found that Goodman has sexually assaulted three children that day — and that the children had been previously abused, the release said.

Goodman was arrested early Saturday and booked into the West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga in lieu of $250,000 bail, jail logs show.

Goodman has worked at Disneyland since August, in what capacity is not known at this time.

Anyone with information on the case is asked to call Detective Jennifer Burkhart at 909-357-3615.

Increasing Child Sex Abuse at Schools Brings Increased Security

The Rural police and the School Jagrata Samiti (security council, I believe), along with Childline officials, have decided to step up vigil following the rising number of child sexual abuse on campuses.

At least two cases have been reported from madrasas in the limits of the Balussery and Nadapuram police stations last week. Balussery and Nadapuram are about 45 km apart in Kerala State, Southwest India. Both towns are about 10 km inland.

These fresh cases come close on the heels of the case of sexual assault of a four-year-old girl at an English medium school managed by of the Sirajul Huda Educational Complex at Parakkadavu here.

In one case, the Balussery police arrested a madrasa teacher, Vettiozhinjattam Kuruppachankandi Abdul Majeed, 45, from Punoor on the charge of sexually assaulting a 11-year-old-girl. Both the Childline authorities and the School Jagrata Samiti were instrumental in tracing the accused.

Nadapuram
However, the Nadapuram police had a difficult time nabbing the madrasa teacher accused of sexually abusing a nine-year-old boy near Vilathapuram Kuttiyil at Purameri, as he had gone absconding soon after the incident.

The accused, Noufal Sakafy, 27, of Urakam Melmuri, near Vengara, in Malappuram, was finally apprehended from Chattamangalam on the outskirts of the city. Investigators used the tower location of the mobile phone used by Noufal to trace him.

During interrogation the accused also confessed to abusing many children at the madrasa. But only one case had been registered so far since the police had not received any other complaints.

The police said that the accused arrested for child sex abuse were charged with sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and they are produced before the Principal District Sessions Court.

Nigerian Girl Says Parents Volunteered Her as Suicide Bomber

Police said the girl's story made it clear who was to blame for the attacks in Kano
A 13-year-old Nigerian girl has told how her parents gave her to Boko Haram militants to be used as a suicide bomber.

The girl, speaking at a news conference organised by police, said she was taken to the city of Kano where two other girls detonated their bombs.

At least four people died in the 10 December attack. The girl was arrested, still wearing explosives, police said.

About 2,000 people have died in attacks blamed on the Islamists this year.

The girl told journalists that her parents had taken her to militants hiding in a forest near the town of Gidan Zana in northern Kano state.

She said one of the leaders asked her if she knew what a suicide bombing was.

"They said, 'Can you do it?' I said 'no'," she said.

"They said, 'You will go to heaven if you do it.' I said 'No I can't.' They said they would shoot me or throw me into a dungeon."

The girl said she finally agreed to take part in the attack but "never had any intention of doing it".

Scene of attack in Kano market - 10 December
She said she had been injured when one of the other girls detonated her bomb and ended up at a hospital where her explosives were discovered.

It was not possible to independently verify the girl's story. Correspondents said she had no lawyer present.

Kano police said they wanted the girl to tell her story to make the public aware of who was behind the attack.

Kano State Police Commissioner Adenrele Shinaba, quoted by Nigerian media, said police wanted to dispel rumours that the attack had been linked to inter-tribal conflict.

Boko Haram, a Sunni Islamist group, has been waging an insurgency in Nigeria since 2009.

In recent months the group has taken control of a series of towns and villages in north-east Nigeria and has vowed to create an Islamic state in those areas.

Nigerian authorities have struggled to defeat them.

Merry Christmas

Nearly a Carbon Copy of Vegas House of Horrors, in Pennsylvania

WEST CHESTER, Pennsylvania >> A Court of Common Pleas jury on Monday found a former Phoenixville man guilty of a decades-long series of sex abuse crimes against four young children, crimes the prosecution said “no human should ever know.”

The panel in Judge William P. Mahon’s courtroom deliberated just over 2½ hours before returning their verdict on the large majority of the more than 170 criminal counts against Warren Yerger Sr., finding that he had raped, sodomized, molested, and abused the children over a period of more than 20 years.

Warren Yerger
The verdict took more than 15 minutes to read because of the multitude of charges against Yerger, who had denied any abuse whatsoever. A handful of charges were dismissed by the jury that listened to five full days of testimony in the case.

The prosecution, led by Deputy District Attorney Deborah Ryan, had asserted in closing the trial that Yerger was a “monster,” who groomed and preyed on the children, and that there was overwhelming evidence to convict him.

“It is finally time to give those victims a voice,” Ryan told the jury in an emotional and forceful 80-minute-long closing argument. “The defendant violated the little bodies of little children … and he needs to be held accountable.”

There was no immediate reaction in the courtroom when the verdict was read by the court clerk around 5:45 p.m. Yerger was led from the courtroom by sheriff’s deputies, and will be returned to Mahon’s courtroom for sentencing at a future date. Because of the serious nature of the charges against him, he faces the possibility of decades behind bars.

Leslie Yerger
In their closing arguments, the attorneys on the two opposing sides disagreed about the quality of the evidence against Yerger, but they agreed on one issue: their gratitude to the jurors who heard the case. The descriptions of the sexual violence that the children testified to was horrific, both sides agreed.

“I believe you all should be sent straight to heaven for having to listen to all of this,” said defense attorney Laurence Harmelin in his closing argument to the panel Monday, referring to the testimonies from the four alleged victims. “It’s upsetting to anyone with a heart.”

“I, too, want to thank you,” echoed Ryan in her own address to the seven men and five women who decided Yerger’s guilt later in the day. “I know it was very difficult to sit here and listen.”

Both attorneys said that what Yerger was alleged to have done was “disgusting” — sexually abusing the four children from the time they were infants until they were in their teens, sometimes daily, and in Ryan’s words, in “demeaning” and “humiliating” ways. But the attorneys differed when it came to arguing whether that testimony could be believed as truth, or whether there was a reason for the panel to discount it as manufactured by angry witnesses.
Deborah Anne Keeley

Yerger, 52, who lived in Berks County at the time of his arrest, faced more than 170 counts of rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, and related charges for his alleged molestation of the four children between 1989 and 2012, when one of the victims alerted a college professor to what had happened and police began investigating.

"Involuntary deviate sexual intercourse" - I had to Google that. Apparently the 'involuntary' part is that of the child or victim. In other words, 'deviate sex without agreement".

Yerger, who was a security guard and lived in four counties — Chester, Montgomery, Berks, and McLean — during the time the alleged crimes occurred, took the stand in his own defense on Friday and maintained he had never molested or abused the children, and that they made up their accounts of what he did to repay him for grudges they held against him.

But Ryan, in her 90-minute summation, asked the jury to consider what any of the children would have stood to gain by accusing Yerger of the abuse. She noted that each had testified that they were reluctant to come forward, that they did not want to testify about what happened, and that they still felt some affection for Yerger.

“This was not easy for them,” said Ryan, who heads the DA’s Child Abuse Unit, praising them for their courage in coming forward. “It was painful for these victims to come in here and tell you what happened and relive it as best they could.”

“This was 23 years of abuse,” she said. “Twenty-three years of torture for these kids. This was their routine. This was their life behind closed doors. At nighttime when other children were safely tucked in their beds, they were living a real-life nightmare with that man (Yerger).”

“He took away their dignity,” she said. “He stole their innocence, and he deprived them of their childhoods.”

Ryan went through a detailed, and sometimes graphic description of what each of the witnesses said had happened to them. She said Yerger would begin with mild fondling of the children — three girls and a boy, each of them now in their 20s — and escalate it into what became known as “nightly prayers.”

"His depravity knows no bounds"
In addition, Ryan said Yerger included his former girlfriend, Deborah Anne Keeley, and his wife, Leslie Yerger, in the abusive acts, physically punished the alleged victims for minor transgressions and deprived them of food for days at a time so they were forced to eat from a garden or dig through trash. The details, she said, were corroborated by others who had no reason to lie.

“His depravity knows no bounds,” Ryan said of Yerger.

But in Yerger’s defense, Harmelin asked the panel to consider several instances of inconsistencies their stories contained, and times when what they said contradicted other witnesses.

“This was only disgusting and vile and out of this world if it was true,” he said. “What you have to decided is whether it happened. I do not want him convicted of sexual offenses if he didn’t do them.”

Harmelin said that because there was no physical evidence for the jurors to consider, “This whole case is words, essentially. It is a spitting contest,” with stories that “strain belief.” He pointed to greeting cards that the victims had sent to Yerger over the years, telling them they loved him on his birthday. “If what they said is true, would anybody love him?”

“It doesn’t add up,” Harmelin said. “It doesn’t make sense. I believe we have shown a reasonable doubt, and that the prosecution has not proven their case.”

Leslie Yerger, who testified against her husband, will be sentenced at a later date, as will Keeley, who pleaded guilty earlier this month to the massive number of charges against her, but did not agree to testify.

How many 'families' are out there that live like this? It's positively scary. There are many similarities with the three degenerates in Las Vegas. Good grief!

Coast Guard PO2 May Face Similar Charges of Child Abuse He was Acquitted of Last Year

A 34-year-old man acquitted of sexual abuse of a minor and assault after a jury trial in Kenai, Alaska, last year, has now been charged with similar crimes by the U.S. Coast Guard.

Kenai, Alaska
Petty Officer 2nd Class John Blackman, previously of Soldotna, (near Kenai) is accused of multiple violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice, said Coast Guard spokesperson Kip Wadlow.

Blackman is currently assigned to the hazardous materials department at Coast Guard Base Kodiak. He has served in the Coast Guard for more than decade, working maintenance jobs.

He was charged in March 2012 with beating and sexually abusing a 4-year-old boy who was allegedly the son of an ex-girlfriend. Soldotna police investigated allegations of abuse after the child’s mother contacted authorities.

The mother reported bruising on the boy’s neck, arms, back, legs and genitals, according to charges in the now-closed case. She allegedly took the boy to a sexual assault nurse examiner in Kenai who determined his injuries were severe and would require follow-up from a doctor.

The state’s argument at trial focused on an officer’s interview with the alleged child victim. Assistant district attorney Angela Garay, who is no longer with the Kenai District Attorney’s Office, said the boy was asked no leading questions and that his responses affirmed the abuse, the Peninsula Clarion reported of the case’s closing arguments.

Defense attorney Andy Pevehouse argued the mother coached her son to accuse Blackman of abuse, according to the Clarion.

According to online court records, Blackman was acquitted of all charges -- four counts of second-degree sex abuse of a minor, three counts of third-degree assault and a single count of second-degree assault.

An assistant district attorney in Kenai did not respond to a request for comment Tuesday.

Kenai, Alaska
On Dec. 4, Coast Guard Lt. Cmdr. John D. Cashman filed a charge sheet against Blackman. One of the charges alleged Blackman assaulted a child under 16 around the same time indicated in the state’s case.

Wadlow declined to say whether the military and state charges are connected.

“I can’t say (the charges are connected),” he said. “The Coast Guard takes all reports of misconduct by our personnel extremely seriously. We conducted an investigation, which has been completed.”

The state’s charges in the sexual abuse case say the Coast Guard was conducting its own investigation.

In all, Blackman faces seven charges, some of which include multiple specifications, the military’s version of counts. The first charge alleges he asked a Shari Blackman to follow a woman without her consent. A second specification under the same charge alleges he provided Shari with login information to the woman’s email account.

The second charge alleges Blackman intended to deceive Coast Guard special agents. His statement to the agents was summarized as, “Several of the police officers involved in the state case against him were fired or quit because of the case against him, or words to that effect, which was totally false, and was then known by the said Petty Officer Blackman to be false.”

Another charge alleges Blackman viewed explicit photos of the woman mentioned in count 1 without her permission. A 2011 case against Blackman in state court charged him with violating a protective order, criminal use of a computer and the indecent viewing of a photo without consent, according to court records. Those charges were dismissed in 2013, months after the sex abuse case.

The new assault counts against Blackman alleged he choked and punched “a child under the age of 16 years.”

Other charges accuse Blackman of perjury, the discharge of a firearm inside a home and abusing animals.

Parties will go through evidence at a preliminary hearing set for late January or early February in Kodiak. The hearing is similar to a grand jury proceeding. A preliminary hearing officer will decide whether there is enough evidence to proceed with a court martial.

“After the hearing, it will be determined what the next course of action will be, or what action we could take against Petty Officer Blackman, the most severe of which would be trial by court martial,” Wadlow said.

Blackman sounds like a real animal; maybe he should be sent out to live among the polar bears.

Would You Believe Another Youth Pastor Facing Child Sex Abuse Charges?

HILLSBORO, Ore. (KOIN 6) — A youth pastor is facing criminal charges over claims he sexually abused at least one minor in his church’s basement, the Hillsboro Police Department confirmed Tuesday.

Dylan Ritterman, 27, worked as a youth minister at Bethel United Pentecostal Church, where the alleged molestation is said to have occurred.

Police arrested Ritterman last week after the mother of an alleged victim came forward. The mother told investigators that Ritterman touched her son inappropriately in 2009 and 2010, Hillsboro Police Lt. Mike Rouches confirmed.

The boy, now 18, was 14 and 15 at the time of the purported abuse, Rouches said.

Hillsboro police believe Ritterman may have abused more children but have not released any information regarding additional claims.

Bethel United Pentecostal Church, Hillsboro, Oregon

Ritterman lists Bethel UPC as a former employer, and his page has been removed from the church’s website, however church officials have not responded to KOIN inquiries.

Ritterman was being lodged in the Washington County Jail on $50,000 bond.

Amnesty Int'l Report - Captive Yazidi Women and Girls Faced Brutal Sexual Violence

Women and girls from Iraq's Yazidi minority endured horrors at the hands of ISIS extremists after they were taken as slaves last summer, leaving them deeply traumatized, an international watchdog group said in a report issued on Tuesday.

The Amnesty International report is based on interviews with over 40 former captives who were among hundreds of women and girls from the Yazidi religious minority captured by ISIS fighters in early August when the militants overran their hometown of Sinjar.

Hundreds were killed in the attack, and tens of thousands were either stranded in nearby Mount Sinjar or fled mostly to the Kurdish-held parts of northern Iraq.

The London-based group said the captives, including girls aged 10-12, faced torture, rape, forced marriage and were "sold" or given as "gifts" to ISIS fighters or their supporters in militant-held areas in Iraq and Syria. Often, captives were forced to convert to Islam.

'They seem to genuinely believe that it is their right
to treat the Yazidi women and girls in this manner.'
"Hundreds of Yazidi women and girls have had their lives shattered by the horrors of sexual violence and sexual slavery in [ISIS] captivity," Amnesty's senior crisis response adviser Donatella Rovera said in a statement.

"Many of those held as sexual slaves are children — girls aged 14, 15 or even younger," Rovera added.

Some captives took their own lives

Fearful of rape, some captives took their own lives — like the 19-year old Jilan, according to her brother and one of the 20 girls who were with her.

"One day we were given clothes that looked like dance costumes and were told to bathe and wear those clothes," said the girl quoted in the report. "Jilan killed herself in the bathroom. She cut her wrists and hanged herself. She was very beautiful; I think she knew she was going to be taken away by a man and that is why she killed herself," added the girl, who was among those who later escaped.

Members of the Kurdish People's Protection Units (YPG) patrol near the border between Syria and Iraq on Dec. 22, 2014. On Sunday, Kurdish and Yazidi fighters made gains towards retaking the nearby town of Sinjar from ISIS after breaking a months-long siege of the mountain above it.

It was unclear how many Yazidi women were abducted, but Iraq's Human Rights Ministry put the number in the "hundreds." Amnesty reports said the number is "possibly thousands."

In an interview with CBC's As It Happens, Rovera said "the systematic nature" of the attacks amount to ethnic cleansing.

"The perpetrators are not only not trying to hide the crimes they are committing, but they are boasting about it," she said. "They seem to genuinely believe that it is their right to treat the Yazidi women and girls in this manner." And, indeed, they do have that right according to Mohammed who ruled that captured physical slaves could be sexual slaves at their masters will.

An October article in a magazine purportedly published by ISIS laid out in detail the group's ongoing effort to sell captured Yazidi "slaves" to militants in Iraq and Syria.

"They are acting with absolute impunity," said Rovera.

Captured during summer offensive

The Yazidis are a centuries-old religious minority viewed as apostates by extremists in Iraq. They have suffered religious persecution for generations because of their beliefs, which include some elements similar to Christianity, Judaism and other ancient religions.

The June onslaught by ISIS stunned Iraqi security forces and the military, which melted away and withdrew as the extremists advanced, capturing key cities and towns in the country's north. The militants also targeted Iraq's indigenous religious minorities, including Christians and Yazidis, forcing tens of thousands from their homes.

Since then, ISIS has carved out a self-styled caliphate in the large area straddling the Iraqi-Syrian border that it now controls.

Alarmed with their advance, the U.S. launched airstrikes in early August on the militant-held areas in Iraq, in an effort to help the Iraqi forces repel the growing militant threat. Since then, some progress has been made on the ground by government forces, Kurdish fighters and Shia militias.

Convicted Sex Offender Gets Chance to Prove Innocence

A judge has granted a sex offender's request for a hearing on his innocence claim after a Great Neck child sex abuse case in which he pleaded guilty.

In a Tuesday decision, acting NY State Supreme Court Justice Teresa Corrigan granted Jesse Friedman a hearing to determine whether he is actually innocent, scheduling the proceeding for early 2015. Corrigan also rejected Friedman's bid to have his conviction overturned.

Jesse Friedman and wife Lisabeth
I don't remember ever seeing a pedophile with a very attractive wife
Friedman, 45, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, pleaded guilty in 1988 to sexually abusing boys who took computer classes at his family's home and got out of prison in 2001. He has since claimed he pleaded guilty to avoid life behind bars if convicted at trial and that police manipulated children into making false claims against him.

His case was the subject of a 2003 documentary called "Capturing the Friedmans" that won a Sundance Film Festival prize and raised questions about Friedman's prosecution and also questioned evidence behind the accusations.

The judge's decision follows the Nassau County district attorney's decision in September not to oppose Friedman's bid for an innocence claim hearing. But prosecutors said in the same filing that Friedman had "made misrepresentations concerning evidence of his actual innocence" and that there were statements from victims who still maintain they were abused.

Nassau County, New York
Prosecutors had opposed the June motion from Friedman that sought to have his conviction vacated. Friedman said in a June press conference that he "never committed a crime against any child, ever" and said his life was hampered by his sex-offender status.

Neither Friedman's attorney nor the prosecutors immediately commented on the judge's decision Monday.

In her ruling, Corrigan also noted that she hadn't watched the documentary because she believed her decision "should be decided on evidence that is not subject to the editing skills of successful and talented movie producers."

"The burden is now on the defendant to establish his innocence by clear and convincing evidence," the judge wrote.
