Colin Lindsay jailed for child sex abuse
A man who admitted carrying out a catalogue of sexual abuse against two girls has been jailed for seven years.
Colin Lindsay, 57, admitted a total of five charges of indecent behaviour, sexual assault and rape.
He began the abuse when the girls were aged six and 10 and carried out the offences between 2004 and this year.
Lindsay was placed on the sex offenders register and ordered to be kept under supervision for a further five years after his release.
One girl was abused by Lindsay between the age of six and 13 at houses in Dundee and in a motor vehicle in the city.
The second girl was abused at houses in the city from the age of 10 until she was almost a teenager.
Lord Turnbull told Lindsay at the High Court in Edinburgh, Scotland: "The courts must do what they can to protect children from predatory sexual conduct by adults."
He said he wanted to ensure that there was "continuing public protection over many years to come".
Then why set him completely free after 12 years? He will still be in his 60's and able to abuse more children. I would rather see 7 years for one count of raping a 6 year old, and all the other charges added to it.
Defence counsel Edith Forrest said Lindsay was "extremely remorseful". She added he recognised that the offences merited a significant custodial sentence.
She said he had been seen by a psychologist and was found to be suffering from severe depression with a significant suicide risk.
Extremely remorseful about what? Molesting the children or being caught?
From The Sulihill Observer, UK...
A 'DESPICABLE' predatory paedophile, who indecently assaulted at least three girls over two decades including a six-year-old left in his care while her mum gave birth in hospital has been jailed for three years and placed on the Sex Offenders' Register.
Terence Lee from Sandgate Road in Hall Green (near Birmingham, England), assaulted the girls between the late 1970s and the mid-1990s when they were aged from six to 19.
The 54-year-old pressured the girls into remaining tight-lipped about the attacks, but one of them bravely broke her silence last year.
This prompted the two other victims to also speak out about their suffering at Lee's hands and after a thorough investigation he was charged with four counts of indecent assault.
Lee assaulted the six-year-old girl in Chelmsley Wood in the late 1980s, several years after he'd exposed himself to a 19-year-old girl at his home and then attacked her as she tried to escape.
During the 1990s he also sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl during an overnight stay at his Birmingham flat.
The sick paedophile was arrested in November 2012 and although he denied the allegations Lee was found guilty at Birmingham Crown Court, jailed for three years and placed on the Sex Offenders' Register indefinitely.
He was also made subject to a Sex Offender's Prevention Order that prevents him having unsupervised access with children for the next 10 years.
Detective Constable Jon Barker said: "These are some of the most disturbing breaches of trust I've investigated.
"To sexually assault a young girl placed in his care as her mum gave birth in hospital is truly despicable.
"These offences haunted the victims for many years and no doubt during those years Lee believed he'd 'got away' with the attacks.
