Cindy is a member of a church that I attend, a wonderful worship leader and a very good writer. Here she calls us to pray and connects us to a rather extraordinary piece by the Roberts Family that needs to be read by every Christian.
In the linked piece, the writer, unfortunately, neglects to list the incredible amount of child sex abuse that is occurring in the world. It is certainly an area where so much prayer is needed.
God has ordained that His work on earth will be done through the prayers of the saints. If we don't pray, He can do little or nothing.
Cindy Keating:
This is truthfully one of the best articles I have read on the many crisis' that are happening in our world. I encourage you to read this, take her words to heart, then pray.
Somehow we have replaced the power of prayer with a need to "do" something. Yes, sometimes we are asked to fly places, to give money, to speak up. But in our quest of "doing" we must also not forget our most important duty - to pray. Fervently. Without ceasing. In a desperate sold-out manner because we are humbly aware that it could be us in their shoes.
To pray is to do something powerful. It is a choice to say, "I can't do much, but I can battle in the spiritual realm with my brothers and sisters who are facing atrocities too horrific for me to begin to comprehend."
But we must answer the call. We must allow our spirits to be awakened.
To pray is to be awakened.
Be selfless in thought today. Imagine yourself on a mountain starving, thirsty, watching your children wither away. And pray!
Awake, oh sleepers!
