School labeled autistic 5yo sexual predator for
kissing & hugging classmates, family says

#PCMadness strikes again

A five-year-old autistic boy is being punished for “overstepping boundaries” – hugging and kissing his classmates – and may be labeled a sex offender for life, his family says, accusing teachers of ignoring his condition.

Nathan, a kindergarten student in Chattanooga, Tennessee, was reported to the state for “sexual activities” about three weeks after his teacher at East Ridge Elementary School first called his guardian, Summery Putnam, to complain the boy had hugged one classmate and kissed another on the cheek.

“You need to have a talk with Nathan about boundaries,” Putnam said the teacher told her. The guardian pleaded for understanding, arguing that “if you don’t understand how autism works, you’ll think he’s acting out or being difficult. But that’s not the situation.” But her pleas apparently fell on deaf ears – less than a month later, the boy’s overly affectionate gestures had gotten him in hot water with state authorities.

No! Seriously! How insane is this?

“It was disclosed that it will go on his record for the rest of his life that he is a sex offender,” the boy’s horrified grandmother, Debi Amick, wrote in a Facebook post. “He shouldn’t be treated like this. The kid doesn’t even understand what sex is,” she elaborated to local media.

What do you do when a 5 year child is being labeled
a sexual predator and accused of sexual harassment
by the school system?

The principal insisted school staff had reprimanded the boy repeatedly, and a spokesperson for Hamilton County Department of Education claims “school personnel are required to report concerns regarding children to the Department of Child Services.”

Nathan has been removed to a special education class with a different teacher, but the damage may have been done – disciplinary measures can remain on a child’s record for their entire secondary school career, even if he isn’t blacklisted as a sex offender.

Alabama man charged with 5 felonies in
sex abuse of girl - 3-10 y/o
By Carol Robinson | crobinson@al.com

A 36-year-old man has been arrested on multiple child sex charges in Shelby County.

Crisanto Movis-Carmona was taken into custody Tuesday by sheriff’s deputies. He is charged with one count of sodomy and four counts of sexual abuse of a child under the age of 12.

According to charging documents, the alleged incidents happened between 2011 and 2018. Warrants state Movis-Carmona engaged in deviate sexual intercourse with the female victim, who is now 11 years old.

OMG! That means it started when she was 3 years old!

On the sexual abuse charges, authorities contend the suspect fondled the victim in multiple places, as well as other sexual contact.

He was booked into the Shelby County Jail Tuesday and remained held Wednesday on $55,000.

Idaho inmate awaiting trial on kidnapping,
child sex abuse charges - dies by suicide

Ruth Brown, Idaho Statesman

BOISE — A 37-year-old man died of an apparent suicide Tuesday in prison before going to trial on accusations that he repeatedly sexually abused a 10-year-old and had a role in kidnapping a woman and chaining her in a barn.

Chancey Lee Baker was found hanging at the Idaho State Correctional Institution in Kuna around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday. He’d been in the Idaho Department of Correction’s custody since June 28, when he was transferred from the Owyhee County Jail, according to IDOC spokesman Jeff Ray.

Baker was being housed at IDOC because he had violated his parole on previous felony convictions for sex offenses. He was due back in court on Oct. 25 in the sexual abuse and kidnapping cases.

Ray explained that Baker died in what IDOC calls a “search enclosure.” “Baker was in the process of being moved from one housing unit to another,” Ray said in an email. “Inmates are temporarily held in search enclosures, where they are searched while being transferred.”

He was not on suicide watch at the prison and apparently used clothing to hang himself, Ray said.

Baker was convicted of felony failing to register as a sex offender in Canyon County in 2014. He was sentenced for felony injury to child in Owyhee County in 2005, a sentence that ran concurrently to a 2004 Canyon County conviction on lewd conduct with a child under age 16.

He was released on parole on Aug. 15, 2017, and was living in Owyhee County when the latest alleged crimes occurred. In February, the Idaho Statesman wrote about Baker’s case because he was accused of repeatedly sexually abusing a 10-year-old.

Owyhee County Sheriff Perry Grant told the Statesman that he initially requested that 56 charges be filed against Baker, but the prosecutor filed 21. In court that month, a judge found that there was probable cause for 10 of those 21 charges, including eight counts of lewd conduct with a child younger than age 16 and two counts of sexual abuse of a child younger than age 16.

Additionally, Baker was awaiting trial for his alleged role in the kidnapping of a 36-year-old woman, who was the mother of the 10-year-old.

Owyhee County sheriff’s detectives said that on Dec. 14, 2018, Baker and his roommate, Mikal Christensen, 24, kidnapped a Homedale woman from her mobile home on Lootens Lane and then left her chained in a barn for eight days. Christensen, who has a felony conviction for attempted injury to child in Minidoka County, spent time in prison with Baker.

According to probable cause affidavits reviewed at the time by the Statesman, Baker and Christensen taped the woman’s hands and legs, and tied her up with rope. They were accused of taking her to a nearby milk barn, with blankets on the walls and a chain hooked to one wall, with a lock on the end.

They chained the woman’s leg to the wall and kept her captive until Dec. 22, according to the affidavit, when she was able to escape by breaking the lock with the use of tweezers and a drill bit.

Christensen told police that Baker was the “mastermind” behind the kidnapping, according to reports.

Tressa Sipes, 41, who also lives in the area, was charged as an accessory to second-degree kidnapping and with burglary. Authorities claimed that Sipes knew about the kidnapping and failed to report it.

Sipes and Christensen have both pleaded not guilty and their next court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Friday in Owyhee County.

IDOC is still investigating Baker’s death.

New charges against Modesto, CA, church youth volunteer
accused of sexual abuse, using hidden camera
BY ROSALIO AHUMADA
Modesto Bee

Stanislaus County prosecutors have filed new criminal charges against a Modesto man who is accused of sexually abusing a child and using a hidden video camera to record the victim showering.

Jim Patrick Arnold, 40, faces three felony charges and a misdemeanor count in connection with the alleged sexual abuse. Some of the charges have changed in the amended criminal complaint filed Monday in Stanislaus Superior Court.

Arnold is accused of continuous sexual abuse of an underage family member, a girl identified in court records as “Jane Doe.” The defendant also is charged with possessing an image of a minor engaged in or simulating sexual conduct. Those are both felony charges.

Arnold initially faced charges of exploiting a minor and using a hidden video camera to secretly record another person, according to a criminal complaint filed March 20. But those charges have been dropped and replaced by two new charges.

Arnold now faces a felony charge of using a child for posing or modeling involving sexual conduct, according to the amended criminal complaint.

He also has been charged with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct, in which prosecutors accuse Arnold of hiding a camera to secretly obtain video footage of a person in a state of undress where the alleged victim had a reasonable expectation of privacy.

Deputy District Attorney Erin Schwartz has said in court that Arnold set up a video camera in a bathroom that recorded the victim showering.

James Reilly, Arnold’s San Rafel-based attorney, has told the judge that he was having conversations with the Stanislaus County District Attorney’s Office to discuss a “possible resolution” in the criminal case. At a March bail review hearing, the defense attorney told the judge that Arnold was eager to resolve the case.

I certainly hope any plea deal will keep this creep in prison until the child is no longer a child.

On Monday, Superior Court Judge Shawn Bessey scheduled a preliminary hearing Nov. 13. At that hearing, the judge will hear testimony and determine whether there’s evidence for Arnold to stand trial.

The alleged sexual abuse occurred between March 2018 and February 2019 and involved three or more lewd and lascivious acts with the girl, according to the criminal complaint.

Arnold was a part-time volunteer youth ministry worker at Big Valley Grace Community Church in Modesto. He also worked as a senior human resources analyst for the Modesto Irrigation District, a position from which he has since resigned. Before that, Arnold worked for the city of Modesto, where he held several positions culminating with human resources manager.

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Frankfort State Journal) Two Frankfort Schools officials and a former middle school teacher have been indicted following allegations of sexual abuse involving a middle school student.

The Frankfort State Journal reports that Todd Joseph Smith, 42, was indicted on two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of minors under the age of 16. Smith is listed as a middle school teacher at Bondurant Middle School.

Current Bondurant principal, Whitney Allison, 42, was indicted on one charge of failure to report child dependency, neglect or abuse, first offense. The paper reports that in March of 2019, around the same time Smith was accused of engaging in inappropriate conduct with a minor, that she allegedly knew that a child was being abused but did not report it to police or the cabinet.

Superintendent Mark Kopp, as LEX 18 previously reported, has been indicted on a charge of bribing a public servant. The charge stems from a comment Kopp allegedly made to a Franklin County Sheriff’s deputy while being served with a subpoena around June 18.

Kopp says that Smith is no longer employed by the school district.
