Dozens of Disney World workers arrested
in child sex stings since 2006
By David K. Li, NY Post

Almost three dozen Disney theme park workers have been arrested for alleged kiddie-sex crimes since 2006, according to a broadcast report.

The 35 busts have been for possession of child porn or trying to meet a minor for sex, CNN found after combing through law enforcement and court records.

So far, 32 of those busted have been convicted and the other cases are pending. Two cases of child porn allegedly happened on Disney property.

Disney spokeswoman Jacquee Wahler said these scary arrests represent only a tiny fraction of the company’s workforce.

“Providing a safe environment for children and families is a responsibility we take very seriously. We have extensive measures in place, including pre-employment and ongoing criminal background checks and computer monitoring and firewalls,” she said.

The numbers reported by CNN represent one one-hundredth of 1 percent of the 300,000 people we have employed during this time period. We continue to work closely with law enforcement and organizations like the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children as we constantly strengthen our efforts.”

Robert Kingsolver, a service manager who oversaw ride repairs at Walt Disney World in Orlando, was busted for allegedly trying to meet a 14-year-old girl for sex. It was actually a sting set up by Lake County, Florida, sheriff’s investigators.

“My life is ruined,” he told CNN. “My family’s life is ruined. My kids’ life is ruined. I’ve devastated my parents because of bad judgment.”

Kingsolver claimed he was out to protect the girl and was going to call cops as soon as he rolled up to her home. He said his family supports him.

“They love me,” Kingsolver said. “My kids know me, and they know how much I care for kids. They know that their dad is not somebody that will go out and hurt a young child. They know their dad is somebody that would go out and protect a young child at any cost.”

Earlier this month, 40-year-old Allen Treaster, a concierge at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge, was arrested for allegedly trying to hook up with a 14-year-old boy to “fulfill a fantasy,” according to his text messages.

That 14-year-old was actually an undercover detective.

In a videotaped interview with police, Treaster admitted to having sex with a real 15-year-old in Georgia about 3 ½ weeks before the sting arrest, according to CNN. He had met the boy online.

“OK and when did you find out how old he was?” a detective asked.

“Honestly, I found out before I met him, but you know,” Treaster said.

“So you still went for that, to have sex with him, knowing he was 15 years old?” the detective asked.

“Yes,” Treaster said.

FBI: Queens Man Sexually Exploited Children
For Over A Decade
WCBS 880 Orlando Lopez

NEW YORK — A Queens man faces life in prison after the FBI charged him on Wednesday will possession of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a child.

Orlando Lopez, 54, is charged with traveling across state lines with the intent to commit aggravated sexual abuse of a child, sexual exploitation of a child and possession of child pornography.

“As alleged, for years Lopez horribly victimized numerous young children, some of whom we are still endeavoring to identify,” stated United States Attorney Richard Donoghue.  “In addition to his unthinkable abuse of these young children – many of them infants  –  Lopez compounded his atrocities by producing thousands of photos and videos of his crime and we pledge to prosecute him to the fullest extent.”

FBI Assistant Director-in-Charge Sweeney called Lopez alleged crimes “horrendous” and said he used friendships with his victims’ parents as a means to access children he “wouldn’t general have contact with.”

Donoghue says one of the alleged victims was as young as 2-years-old.

The FBI claims Lopez also transported a 7-year-old girl across state lines with the intent to sexually abuse her. Authorities say the 54-year-old also produced thousands of photos and videos of his alleged crimes.

According to the indictment, Lopez repeatedly sexually abused more than a dozen children, many of whom lived near his Queens residence, over the last decade.

If convicted, Lopez faces 30 years to life in prison for the transportation charge and 15 to 30 years in prison on each of the child exploitation charges.

Federal authorities believe there may be more victims and anyone with information on Lopez is encouraged to contact the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.

Bail bonds company puts up commercial surety to bond out Louisiana woman charged with first-degree rape

By Kiran Chawla

LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Melanie Barnett Curtin bonded out from the Livingston Parish jail late Wednesday night, according to multiple sources.

Curtin’s bond was set at $350,000 for the two charges she is facing: first-degree rape and video voyeurism.

Records show David Babin of Absolute Best Bail Bonds bonded Curtin out of the Livingston Parish jail at 10:33 p.m. on Feb. 5.

A condition of the bond is that Curtin must wear GPS monitoring.

Records from the Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office show Curtin is able to leave the state as long as she is present for her next court date of Mar. 12. Curtin is not required to call and advise of when she is leaving the state, according to the record.

Curtin was arrested Saturday as she came off of a cruise ship in New Orleans and had been locked up since then. She is accused of the first-degree rape of an adult alongside Dennis Perkins on Nov. 8, 2014.

Court records say Dennis Perkins is accused of first-degree rape for “sex with an adult victim” on Nov. 8, 2014, with the assistance of the “unidentified adult female perpetrator.”

Multiple sources have confirmed Curtin is that unidentified adult female.

Curtin is the third arrest in the Dennis and Cynthia Perkins case in Livingston Parish. (See story immediately below.)

Dennis and Cynthia are accused of child rape, producing child pornography, and participating in feeding desserts laced with semen to school children. Dennis is also accused of sexual abuse of an animal. The couple did plea not guilty to all the felonies.

The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office is the lead investigating agency of the Perkins case. The Livingston Parish District Attorney’s Office recused themselves from the Curtin case so the AG’s Office will now prosecute that as well.

Head of a Louisiana SWAT team and his wife indicted on 150 counts, including sexual abuse of children, animal

Facing possible 6000 year sentences
By Danae Leake

LIVINGSTON PARISH, La. (WAFB) - A grand jury indicted a former high-ranking Livingston Parish sheriff’s deputy and his wife, on 150 felonies on Tuesday, Dec. 17.

Both are accused of sex crimes against children.

The jury indicted Dennis Perkins, 44, on 78 felonies and his wife, former school teacher Cynthia Perkins, 34, on 72 felonies.

Here is a breakdown of their counts:

Dennis
5 counts of first-degree rape
1 count attempted first-degree rape
3 counts of sexual battery against a child under 13
4 counts of video voyeurism
1 count of mingling harmful substances
1 count of obscenity
1 count of possession of child pornography
61 counts of producing child pornography
1 count of sexually abusing animal/dog

Cynthia
3 counts first-degree rape
1 count attempted first-degree rape
4 counts sexual battery of a child under 13
1 count of mingling harmful substances
61 counts of producing child porn

They could face up to 6,000 years in prison, Assistant Attorney General Matt Derbes added outside the Livingston Parish courthouse on Dec. 17.

Among the felonies is child pornography, first-degree rape, attempted first-degree rape, sexual battery of a child under the age of 13, video voyeurism and a count of sexual abuse of an animal.

The indictment also includes 61 counts of producing child pornography.

The Louisiana Attorney General’s Office says the case is still ongoing and that the office is dealing with “a mountain of evidence.”

Dennis Perkins, the former head of the LPSO SWAT team was facing 60 counts of child pornography charges and rape involving a juvenile under the age of 13. Cynthia Perkins, a former Livingston Parish school teacher, was also being held on similar charges.

A grand jury’s indictment is not a conviction. The indictment simply means that the prosecution can move forward with the case.

Perkins was originally booked into the Livingston Parish Prison, but due to “safety reason,” was relocated to Elaine Hunt Correctional Facility, a state facility, in Ascension Parish.

A date for their arraignment has been set for March 6, 2020.

Boise man sentenced to 85 years in prison for
child sex abuse, child porn distribution
BY RUTH BROWN
Idaho Statesman

An Ada County district judge ordered a 52-year-old Boise man to serve up to 85 years in prison for making and distributing child pornography.

Police arrested Gunnar Ericsson on a warrant in September 2018 following a yearlong investigation by the Boise Police Department. A jury found Ericsson guilty last November of sexual exploitation of a child and sexual abuse of a minor stemming from a 2010 incident. In total, he was convicted of seven felony sex crimes involving children.

Fourth District Judge Deborah Bail sentenced Ericsson on Wednesday; he could be eligible for parole after serving 15 years.

What? 85 years and he could be paroled in 15? How does that craziness work?

The investigation began in October 2017, after law enforcement received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that an email account connected to Ericsson shared six videos of child pornography.

Detectives recognized Ericsson from a previous investigation in 2010, when a victim known to Ericsson reported that he sexually abused her and took pictures of her, according to court documents. Ericsson was indicted for sexual abuse of a minor, but detectives did not find the nude pictures the victim described.

Before trial, the victim recanted the abuse report and Ericsson’s charges were dismissed. Law enforcement said they later found that Ericsson had intimidated the victim into recanting her report.

“During the 2018 investigation, detectives found photos of that victim from 2010. It was found that Mr. Ericsson created a new persona of the victim and posted pictures of her to various pornography and modeling websites,” according to a news release from the Ada County Prosecutor’s Office.

Prosecutors also said that “child pornography was found on the defendant’s computers,” including 144 bookmarked websites that contained child exploitative material.

During sentencing, Bail said the case’s investigator noted that it was the most extensive and elaborate collection of child pornography the investigator had seen, and that Ericsson “fed the darkest parts of the dark web,” according to the news release.

Anyone with information regarding the exploitation of children is encouraged to contact their local law enforcement agency, the Idaho Attorney General’s Internet Against Crimes Unit at 208-947-8700 or the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children at 1-800-843-5678.

Child Porn Trafficking: Former Youth Corrections Officer From N.J. Gets 7 Years In Fed Pen

I'm guessing these won't be the best 7 years of his life

A former state youth facility corrections officer from Ocean County was sentenced to seven years in federal prison for trafficking child porn.

Michael A. Ruggiero, 38, of Lacey Township, was nabbed by federal Homeland Security agents after an online contact of his was arrested in Canada, authorities said.

Members of the Saskatchewan Police Service contacted them after finding online exchanges between a man they took into custody for downloading and sharing images of child sexual abuse off a mobile app and a user in the U.S.

IP addresses led the agents to Ruggiero, who was living in Berkeley at the time, a complaint on file in the U.S. District Courthouse in Trenton says.

Ruggiero was working then as senior corrections officer at the Albert C. Wagner Youth Correctional Facility in Chesterfield (Burlington County), records show.

Over the course of three days in 2016, Ruggiero used a mobile chat app “to distribute and share over the Internet images and videos of child sexual abuse,” U.S. Attorney Craig Carpenito said. “Some of the images and videos were of prepubescent children or children who had not attained the age of 12."

Ruggiero also collected other images and videos of child sexual abuse using the same app and had “additional depictions” of the same when he was taken into custody in June 2017.

Ruggiero took a plea deal and admitted his guilt last June, two years after his arrest, in exchange for leniency. He’ll have to serve all of his term because there’s no parole in the federal prison system.

In addition to the prison time, U.S. District Judge Peter G. Sheridan Judge Sheridan sentenced Ruggiero on Wednesday to five years of supervised release.

Grand jury indicts Las Vegas man on
child exploitation violations

LAS VEGAS (KTNV)A federal grand jury indicted a Las Vegas man Wednesday for alleged federal child exploitation violations, according to U.S. Attorney Nicholas A. Trutanich for the District of Nevada.

Barry Allen Gabelman, 49, was charged with one count of coercion and enticement and one count of transferring obscene material to a minor.

Gabelman is in federal custody pending his initial court appearance before U.S. Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Albregts on Feb. 11, 2020.

From about Oct. 31 to Dec. 6, 2019, Gabelman exchanged sexually explicit messages and photos via his Skout social media account, as well as his WhatsApp messaging account, with individuals whom he believed to be an 11-year-old girl and her stepfather, according to allegations contained in the complaint and indictment.

The attorney's office said a law enforcement officer posed as both the girl and stepfather.

During their communications, Gabelman discussed having sex with the 11-year-old girl. On Dec. 6, 2019, Gabelman traveled to a predetermined location to have sex with the girl. Officers then arrested Gabelman at the meeting place.

The FBI investigated the incident with assistant U.S. Attorney Bianca Pucci is prosecuting the case. An indictment alleges that crimes have been committed, but the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law, according to the office.

If convicted, Gabelman faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison and a maximum sentence of life in prison for coercion and enticement and a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison for transfer of obscene material to a minor.

The defendant also faces a period of supervised release.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.
