In a blood-curdling incident, an 8-year-old girl was brutally raped by 6 people when the victim had gone to her neighbourhood to ask for food. The police have arrested all the six accused, two of whom are minors. Speaking to OpIndia, police official from Kanyakumari SP office ruled out gang rape and said that the child was molested by the men. A case has also been registered under POCSO.
There is discontent among people after the horrifying incident of gang-rape in Nagercoil in Kanyakumari surfaced on social media. The accused include 75-year-old Mohammad Noah, 68-year-old Abdul Zafar, 53-year-old Zafar Hussain, and 52-year-old Zahdsan.
According to ‘Mathrubhumi‘ news, the mental condition of the minor girl’s mother is not well. The victim’s father has also his job which has also exacerbated the family’s financial situation.
The investigations into the matter revealed that the accused had been harassing the victim for some time now. They were hunting for an opportunity, which they got when she arrived to ask for food.
A few days back, the girl had reportedly complained to her father that some people were abusing her physically, causing her pain. On investigation, her father found that her daughter was indeed being abused for the last several days. A complaint has been filed in this case with the District SP and the Kulachal Women Police and the minor victim has been kept in Tirunelveli Child Improvement Home. The incident came on the heels of another case in Kerala where a 5-year-old girl was gang-raped.
Apologies for the confusion. It's difficult to tell if she was gang-raped or not. Perhaps she was gang-raped and the police refuse to call it that. Hopefully, we will get some clarification before too long.
Convicted paedophile worked at Sanitarium's Weet-Bix kids' TRYathlons and Motat family events un N.Z.

Senior reporter, NZ Herald
A convicted paedophile who is awaiting trial on serious child sexual abuse image charges worked at two Weet-Bix kids' TRYathlons, attended by hundreds of children.
The Herald can also reveal the man was hired to work eight times at Auckland's Museum of Transport and Technology (Motat), including three "family events".
The revelations have exposed a serious gap in police vetting of contractors, with a raft of agencies now reviewing internal policies to protect vulnerable children following Herald investigations.
The man had access to at least 10 schools after being hired on kids' TV show What Now by production company Whitebait Media, which is co-owned by former children's entertainer Jason Gunn and which earns millions of dollars each year from NZ On Air.
Jason Gunn and wife Janine Morrell-Gunn own Whitebait Media, which produces What Now.
Customs is now investigating whether the man breached his bail conditions not to associate with children through promotional work involving kids with both Motat and NZ Football.
The man was jailed several years ago for sexually abusing underage girls, but was able to land numerous freelance jobs after his release, often involving children.
He was arrested last year in a Customs swoop and now faces a raft of charges relating to thousands of child abuse image and video files allegedly founds on his electronic devices.
The Herald has confirmed the man was contracted to work at two Sanitarium Weet-Bix kids' TRYathlons in Auckland in 2018 and 2019.
One of the contracts was through production company 90 Seconds. The other was through the Herald's publisher NZME.
Sanitarium said the company had strict vetting and risk management policies. Contractors were supervised at all times.
"We are endeavouring to contact the parents of children that attended the events to inform them of this individual's attendance. We are obviously very disappointed and concerned that an individual with this background is able to work in the industry in this way."
Sanitarium said it expected third-party suppliers to vet contractors they employed. "We continue to review our vetting processes for future events, and we are determined to ensure that this situation cannot happen again."
In a statement, NZME said the man's company was hired at several events supported by NZME, including last year's TRYathlon. He attended the event but was accompanied by NZME staff.
Risk assessments were carried out whenever NZME teams supported external events, including the requirement that no team member was left alone with children.
NZME was reviewing internal processes to ensure all possible steps were taken to protect children. "NZME fully supports industry bodies on their efforts to establish industry-wide child safety protocols."
Meanwhile, Motat has confirmed its marketing and communications team hired the man eight times, including on three "family events" - Night Lights, Christmas Lights and Slime Weekend - after his arrest on Customs charges.
Motat director Michael Frawley said while most of the projects involved children, Motat staff and parents were present and supervising throughout. The man was not vetted because his work did not fall within the provisions of Motat's child protection policy and he was not working unsupervised with children.
And while Motat had "extensive" vetting requirements, "we are going to review our policies and procedure as we take the safety and security of our visitors and team extremely seriously".
On Sunday, the Herald revealed the man was hired by 90 Seconds last year for promotional work at NZ Football involving children. NZ Football said it was "deeply disturbed" by the revelations and appalled to learn that 90 Seconds had known about the man's background since March this year.
However, 90 Seconds founder Tim Norton said the company did not alert NZ Football because it feared breaching suppression laws. The Herald has confirmed the man originally had name suppression but this lapsed in February.
"We did not reach out to our handful of affected clients as the matter was before the courts and police. That remains the case. I sincerely apologise to all our clients, and to the parents and children who were present at [jobs] this freelancer was contracted for."
Norton said the man was immediately dismissed in March this year to preserve the safety of 90 Seconds' clients and team. The incident was a timely reminder to ensure external contractors, and not just staff, were vetted, Norton said.
The Herald has chosen not to name the man while he is still before the court.
Child sex offender Hamzeh Bahrami jailed over attack on young girl in Adelaide toilet block
By Ben Nielsen, ABC AuA man who sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl at a sports ground in Adelaide's north has been sentenced to more than four-and-a-half years in prison — but could apply for release in less than half that time.
Hamzeh Bahrami, 33, assaulted the girl multiple times at a Blair Athol playground and nearby toilet block in April 2019 in front of his own young daughter and niece.
Judge Paul Slattery called the offending "abhorrent in the extreme" and said it was concerning Bahrami could not explain his actions.
The judge said the sentence took into account the fact that Bahrami accused the victim of lying, fabricated a version of events and allowed his innocent brother to be arrested over the incident.
Bahrami was handed a head sentence of four years and nine months in prison, and a non-parole period of three years.
What does that mean? If he hadn't blamed the victim for lying, hadn't lied himself, hadn't let his brother be arrested for his crimes, he would have gotten a lesser sentence? What? Perhaps time served, perhaps a pension and a gold watch? Where does "abhorrent in the extreme" come in? And the multiple events? Was there any consideration given to the fact that the girl will be just 13 when this creep is back in her neighbourhood? Will her family have to move to keep her safe and sane? Where is the justice here?
Both were backdated to when Bahrami was taken into custody in April 2019, meaning he could be eligible for parole in less than two years, in April 2022.
In a victim impact statement, the girl's mother wrote that the attack on her daughter had left her family unable to "trust anyone".
"The perpetrator was known to the community so it's very uncomfortable," she said. "I know feel like I don't want to do anything with the community. I now feel like I can't trust anyone, and that the children can't trust anyone."

Bahrami pleaded guilty to four counts of aggravated indecent assault and one count of false imprisonment over the attack.
He arrived in Australia with his mother and siblings as refugees in 2006.
In a letter of apology, he said custody had granted him time to reflect on the seriousness of his crime.
"As a parent of a four-year-old daughter, I cannot imagine how I would react if someone abused her in the same way that I abused my victim. I know that I would be very, very angry," he said.
"As a child in Afghanistan I witnessed several acts of brutal physical abuse of other children and the fact that I have since caused so much damage to an innocent child fills me with shame.
"I fully accept that I may spend many years behind bars for my crimes but I hope that up (sic) my eventual release I will become a positive contributor to the community once again."
Offending was 'impulsive', psychiatrist says
Police have previously said the victim had been playing at a park at suburban Blair Athol when she was approached by Bahrami. The court heard last month she was on a swing set when he asked her where the toilets were.
Prosecutors said he then sexually assaulted her multiple times and threatened her inside a locked cubicle as his daughter and niece peered under the door.
Bahrami was arrested two weeks after the attack following a police campaign, which included officers doorknocking in the area. Police had initially arrested his brother, but withdrew the charges "after forensic evidence cleared him of direct involvement" in the attack.
A psychiatric report written by Dr Jules Begg described Bahrami's offending as "impulsive" and "out of character". Dr Begg wrote that he did not have "prurient interest in children" nor "excessive sexual interest. He grew up with a fear of sexual abuse," Dr Begg wrote.
He grew up in a Muslim community where a non-Muslim girl, or woman, over whom you had some power, was fair-game for sexual assault. Mohammed gives explicit permission in the Quran for such behaviour regardless of age. Some Muslim men, especially Pakistani men in the UK, seem to assume that once you have a white girl in your car, or alone in a room, or in a room with other Muslims, then she is under their power and ripe for raping. Thousands of rapes and gang-rapes in the UK happen this way.

An eight-year-old Russian girl who ran away from home following an argument with her parents was raped and killed after being picked up by a married couple in their car, Russian police have said.
More than 500 people volunteered to search for missing Vika Teplyakova after she was seen for a final time in CCTV footage walking alone along a road.
Wearing a T-shirt and blue shorts, the girl was trying to reach her friends in the town where the family used to live.

She was missing three days before a 32-year-old woman told police she and her husband had given the child a lift.
The couple were identified as Igor and Kristina Dvornikov, and officers today released pictures of the detained husband and wife suspected of carrying out the horrific crimes.
The man told his wife he would 'attack' the girl and 'the woman did nothing to stop it because she was too scared of him', according to a police source.

The girl was raped and strangled with a plastic bag. She died on Monday, the day she disappeared, said police. The woman showed police where her body was hidden near a lake, said law enforcement. Igor Dvornikov initially denied abducting, abusing and killing the girl, but later confessed, according to law enforcement.
More than 500 people joined the search for the eight-year-old on Sakhalin island in Russia after she ran away following an argument with her parents

Both the man and the woman have been detained as detectives launch a murder probe.
The girl had run away from her parents in Novoaleksandrovsk on Sakhalin island, a pacific island north of Japan.
One report said a man had given her a sum of money- £1.70 - and taken her to a supermarket before she was attacked.

Ex-detective 'blocked from investigating child sexual abuse linked to UK politicians'
Clive Driscoll said at a public inquiry he was told by officials to stop investigating the Angell Road home, which was run by paedophile John Carroll
A former detective has told a public inquiry he was blocked from investigating child sexual abuse linked to politicians.
Clive Driscoll was removed from the probe in Lambeth, South London, in 1998, after naming prominent individuals in a meeting with council staff.
Mr Driscoll told the Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse there had been a “concerted effort” by officials to stop him investigating.
He said social services staff tried to steer him away from looking into the Angell Road home, which was run by paedophile John Carroll, despite the council knowing he had a record.
Mr Driscoll, who went on to lead a successful investigation into two of Stephen Lawrence’s killers, said: “There was a worry that paedophiles were employing paedophiles. There was a group of people who were going to Angell Road. They didn’t appear to have any right to be there.”

Referring to the work done by the Shirley Oaks Survivors Association, led by Raymond Stevenson and Lucia Hinton, he said: “How is it two people, Mr Stephenson and Ms Hinton, with a fraction of the resources [of the police], have put together 600 plus cases that have reached the evidential test of council lawyers and got £44million paid out?
“How has that happened when we [the Met Police] were the agency that should investigate?” The scale of the abuse in Lambeth has only come to light after SOSA was set up in 2014.

Police Arrest French Man Accused of
Sexual Abuse of 305 Indonesian Children

Abello could face death by firing squad if found guilty under child protection laws, police said.
ASSOCIATED PRESS JAKARTA
Indonesian authorities have arrested a French man for alleged sexual abuse of minors after finding videos on his laptop computer showing him molesting over 300 children, police said Friday.
Jakarta police spokesman Yusri Yunus said Francois Camille Abello was arrested late last month in a hotel room where he was found with two naked girls.
He said police had received a tip-off from nearby residents who suspected a foreigner at the hotel was exploiting children.
Abello could face death by firing squad if found guilty under child protection laws, Yunus said.
Abello, a 65-year-old retiree, was paraded in handcuffs at a news conference on Thursday where Jakarta Police Chief Nana Sudjana said the videos on the computer showed him engaging in illegal sex acts with 305 children aged 10 to 17. Abello remained silent at the news conference.
Sudjana said Abello had not cooperated with investigators and refused to provide passwords for programs on his computer.
He said most of the victims were street children whom Abello had approached and offered work as models. Abello paid them between 250,000 and 1 million rupiah ($17 and $70) for engaging in sex with him and beat those who refused, Sudjana said.
“We are still investigating whether he has also exploited his victims economically through social media or other internet platforms,” Sudjana said.
There are reports that foreign pedophiles are increasingly targeting children in Indonesia, but there have been few arrests of foreigners and little research on the topic.
In mid-June, police said they arrested an American fugitive, Russ Albert Medlin, for alleged sexual assault of children. He was apprehended at his residence in southern Jakarta after police questioned three minors.
Medlin had been charged with sexual violence against a minor twice by a district court in Nevada between 2006 and 2008 and served two years in prison prior to his arrest in Jakarta, Yunus said.
Children Vulnerable to Sexual Predators on Goa Beaches, Yoga Centres
Goa has unfortunately earned it the infamous sobriquet as the "sex capital of India". Pixabay
Children are most vulnerable to sexual predators on social media platforms, beaches, and even yoga centres in Goa, a study has revealed. The study ‘Sale and Sexual Exploitation of Children in the Context of Travel and Tourism in Goa’ claimed that the state’s free and easy-going image had influenced the state’s infamy as the sex capital of India and therefore made minors vulnerable to sexual exploitation.
“Hotels/lodges and rented homes provide such tourists with easy access to children. It is impossible for the authorities to monitor such places. Goa is a popular yoga destination. These places have made children vulnerable. Spas and massage parlours and casinos are openly supplying children,” said the study authored by Dr Ranjana Ferrao, a professor at the VM Salgaocar College of Law in Panaji.
The study published in the latest edition of ‘Journal of Victimology and Victim Justice’ published by Sage Publications also says that social media platforms and websites were key contact points between sexual predators and unsuspecting minors.
The study pointed out that foreign paedophiles often target developing or poor countries on account of weak legal systems. Pixabay
Nearly 200 respondents were interviewed for the study. In its observation on international child trafficking in Goa, the study said that the biggest grouping of minor victims of sexual abuse are from Bangladesh (42 per cent), followed by Thailand (28 per cent), Nepal (25.5 per cent) and Uzbekistan (16 per cent).
“The victims are provided with documents such as Aadhaar card, voting cards and marriage certificates to make them seem adults,” Ferrao said in her study. The study pointed out that foreign paedophiles often target developing or poor countries on account of weak legal systems, but Goa’s projection as a state with an easy-going social ethos has also unfortunately earned it the infamous sobriquet as the “sex capital of India”.
“Many Indian and foreign tourists come in search of child sex in Goa. Goa is also openly advertised as a state with free and liberal values. This has made our children vulnerable,” the study added. Incidentally, the first international paedophile ring to be busted in 1991 in India was operating out of Goa.
Goa was the first European settlement in India. Vasco da Gama first circumnavigated Africa 5 years after Columbus discovered America. (Am I allowed to say that anymore?). In the 16th century, a Dutch adventurer landed the position of secretary to the Bishop of Goa. In his memoirs, The Voyage of J H van Linschoten to the East Indies: Linschoten describes the Indians as “the most leacherous and unchaste nation in all the orient, so that there are verie few women children (girls) among them of seven or eight yeares old, that have their maiden-heades.” (i.e. virginity)
Van Linschoten spent 6 years, in the late 16th century, in Goa, the Portuguese run melting pot and first European settlement in India. – The Last Crusade, Nigel Cliff
I realize that is off-topic somewhat, but just want to point out that the licentious lifestyle appears to have pre-dated Europeans.
The study mentioned the arrest of Freddy Peats, whose orphanage in the beach village of Calangute served as a destination for sexual exploitation for foreign paedophiles, as well as the case of slain British minor girl Scarlett Keeling who was sexually assaulted and left to die at North Goa’s Anjuna beach.
Goa’s beaches, in fact, said the study, were a vulnerable zone for children. Pixabay
“Children are found roaming nude or as little as with few undergarments on Goan beaches. In no other country in the world do you see children roaming unaccompanied by either a parent or guardian. This puts children at risk,” the study states, adding that domestic tourists seek sexual favours from children for ‘as little as Rs 50 to Rs 200’ but foreigners pay money.
“Some come in contact with children who are begging in public places. Children are found working at restaurants, thus making them easy targets. The tourist may approach the child in person on the streets, the beach, in schools or centres for children. The modus operandi adopted by the tourist is first to befriend the child through its family and relatives or through an intermediary on the beach, in hotels, guesthouses, karaoke clubs and massage parlours,” the study pointed out. (IANS).
Many of these perverts convince themselves that they are actually helping the children and their families survive. But if they were really concerned about that they would find a better way to help without destroying the children.
Western Sydney teacher charged over alleged
sex assault of schoolboy, 14
By Lara Pearce • Senior Producer, 9News
A Sydney school teacher has been charged with multiple offences after she allegedly sexually assaulted a 14-year-old boy in what police are describing as an "abhorrent" breach of trust.
The western Sydney high school student was allegedly sexually assaulted multiple times – both on school grounds and off – over the past month, according to police.
The State Crime Command's Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad began investigating the female teacher earlier this week, after receiving reports of the alleged assaults.
The 23-year-old was arrested at a Greenacre home around 7am this morning. (NSW Police)
During a search of her home, police seized electronic devices and a car, where police say some of the alleged offences occurred.
She was charged with 10 offences, including aggravated sexual intercourse, sexual touching and incite sexual touching and perform sex acts.
Speaking on the alleged offences today, Child Abuse and Sex Crimes Squad Commander, Detective Acting Superintendent Michael Haddow labelled the alleged crimes "abhorrent".
He said further enquiries would be undertaken with the student's school and that the student was receiving "fantastic support" from family and authorities.
Acting Superintendent Haddow urged parents to have open, honest conversation with their children.
"Kids, 14, 15, 16, sometimes they think or act as if they are a little bit older than they are, but ultimately they are vulnerable," he said.
"Ultimately, parenting isn't an easy job and you need to have those difficult conversations with your kids."
Anyone with concerns about suspected child abuse or exploitation should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au.
