Another minor Hindu girl kidnapped in Pakistan
forcibly converted to Islam
ANI Islamabad

In another shocking incident, a minor Hindu girl has been abducted from Pakistan's Sindh province, converted to Islam and married off to her kidnapper.

The minor named Reshaman from Jacobabad in Sindh who was kidnapped and converted to Islam was married off to her abductor Wazir Hussain on June 18.

Is he really, really ugly, that he has to capture a girl cave-man style?

However, the girl has submitted an affidavit claiming to be 19-years-old and having converted to Islam on her own free will. Abduction and forced conversions of Hindu minor girls is rampant in Pakistan and has exposed the tall claims by the Imran Khan government of security and safety of minorities in the country.

According to the affidavit, Reshaman`s new Muslim name is Basheeran. There have been numerous cases of forced conversions involving Christian and Hindu girls, mostly minors, across Pakistan who are then married to Muslim men in Pakistan. Even police and politicians ignored their grievances and left the minorities to live a miserable life.

According to a Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP) report, at least 1,000 non-Muslim girls have forcibly converted to Islam in the country annually. Many of these girls belong to the Hindu community in Sindh, where about eight million Hindus live.

Pakistan is a signatory to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states that the right to freedom of religion includes the right to change one`s religion and that no one shall be subject to coercion to change their religion. Despite these many cases of forced conversions, the country till now has turned down two bills. The bills tabled in 2016 and 2019 demanded that the minimum age for changing one`s religion be set to 18 years, jail terms be sanctioned for anyone guilty of coercion, and a 21-day period in a safe house be mandated for the person seeking conversion to ensure that the decision has been taken out of the free will.

While rejecting the bill in 2016, former Sindh governor Saeeduzzaman Siddiqui, said: `When Hazrat Ali [the fourth caliph in Sunni sect, and the first Imam for the Shia] can convert to Islam at a young age [9 years], why can`t Hindu girls? `This kind of resistance has also been seen during attempts to eradicate child marriage in Pakistan. The Council of Islamic Ideology cited Prophet Muhammad`s marriage to six-year-old Aisha, as narrated in hadiths (compilations of the prophet`s sayings).

Though the country was finally able to pass legislation against child marriage in 2019, the courts still allow forced conversions and marriage of underage girls like in Sindh where the Child Marriages Restraint Act has been in place since 2013.

According to Dawn, the Sindh government attempted to outlaw forced conversions and marriages twice. Though the bill was unanimously passed by the Sindh Assembly, religious parties objected to an age limit for conversions and threatened to besiege the assembly if the bill received the approval of the governor. This resulted in the Governor refusing to sign the bill into law.

In 2019, a revised version was introduced by the Sindh government, but again the religious parties protested. A sit-in was organised by Pir Mian Abdul Khaliq (Mian Mithu), a political and religious leader who has participated in many cases of forced conversions of underage Hindu girls in Sindh.

He and his group claim the girls are not forced, but fall in love with Muslim men and convert willingly. In March 2019, nearly 2,000 Hindus staged a sit-in to demand justice for two sisters, who they claimed were forcibly converted and married. The Islamabad High Court, however, ruled the girls had willingly converted and married the men.

Gay American Charged with Exploiting Children in Laos
Written by IVN

Boston, Massachusetts - An American citizen was arrested and charged Tuesday in connection with exploiting teenage boys in Laos.

Acting Assistant Attorney General Brian C. Rabbitt for the Justice Department’s Criminal Division, U.S. Attorney Andrew E. Lelling for the District of Massachusetts and Special Agent in Charge Joseph R. Bonavolonta of the FBI’s Boston Field Division made the announcement.

Michael Sebastian, 52, was charged by criminal complaint with engaging in illicit sexual conduct in foreign places and sex trafficking of children. Sebastian was arrested yesterday in Lynn, Massachusetts, where he has been living with his mother.  Following an initial appearance in federal court in Boston today, Sebastian was detained pending a detention and probable cause hearing scheduled for July 13, 2020.

According to the charging documents, Sebastian has been living in Laos, where he teaches English to Laotian youth.  During at least the past two years, Sebastian provided housing to at least three boys, aged 13 through 18, to whom he taught English.  In lieu of paying rent to live with him, Sebastian allegedly allowed the boys to pay off their rent by performing chores.  According to allegations in the complaint, these chores included giving Sebastian massages – which, in turn, included masturbating Sebastian.

The charges in the complaint are allegations, and the defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Trial Attorney Leslie Fisher with the Criminal Division’s Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS) and Assistant U.S. Attorney Anne Paruti for the District of Massachusetts are prosecuting the case.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice.  Led by the U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the CEOS, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children, as well as identify and rescue victims.

Two arrested for torture, sexual abuse of children at Gaudiya math in Muzaffarnagar, UP
ANI

Muzaffarnagar (Uttar Pradesh) [India], July 11 (ANI): The Uttar Pradesh police have arrested two persons in connection with the complaint of torture and sexual exploitation of children at Gaudiya Math in Muzaffarnagar.

A team from child helpline had rescued 10 children, hailing from the north-eastern states, from the Gaudiya Math on July 7.

The Gaudiya Math (pronounced matt, IAST: Gauḍīya Maṭha) is a Gaudiya Vaishnava matha (monastic organisation) formed on 6 September 1920, about 30 months after Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati took sannyasa, the renounced order of life.

Speaking about the case, Rakhi Devi, a member of the child helpline said, “We had received information that children were being kept captive in the Gaudiya Math Ashram. We went to the Ashram and talked to children. They said they were being physically tortured there and made to do all the chores. The children are from Tripura and Mizoram. We will produce the children before the CWC and the administration now and the necessary action will follow.”

Superintendent of Police, Muzaffarnagar (Rural), Nepal Singh, (above) said that apart from the owner of the Gaudiya Math (left), another person has been arrested on the basis of the complaint filed by the child helpline.

“A complaint was received at Bhopa police station over children from the north-east being tortured at the Gaudiya Math. The complaint also mentions sexual exploitation of the children at the math. Two people have been named and both have been arrested,” he said.

There seem to be dozens of such Ashrams throughout India.

Further investigation is underway. (ANI)

French cops & Europol capture suspected darknet child porn dealer from its list of 'global priority targets'

Police in France have detained a man accused of operating child pornography websites with "thousands" of users globally. The successful raid was conducted in cooperation with Europol.

The suspect, identified by law enforcement as "one of the ten global priority targets," was arrested last week in France's southwestern Gironde region with the help of Europol, Frederique Porterie, a prosecutor in the city of Bordeaux, told reporters on Monday.

Porterie said that the man is believed to have run several websites on the darknet with photos and videos of child pornography that were visited by "thousands of users worldwide."

As well as the dissemination of child pornography, the suspect has been charged with rape and sexual assault against minors.

NZ man used 'secret calculator' mobile app to hide hundreds of child sexual exploitation images
Phillipa Yalden /STUFF

Hidden behind an app known as a “secret calculator” on his phone, Carl Joseph Ward Rowlands had hundreds of images of child and animal sexual abuse.

The Hamilton man’s exploits came to an end when police in Canada contacted New Zealand authorities alerting them to an image depicting child exploitation that Rowlands had uploaded as the profile picture of an online messenger group.

Rowlands, 39, was jailed for two years and four months in Hamilton District Court on Monday after earlier pleading guilty to a representative charge of possession of objectionable material, beastiality, making an objectionable publication, and distributing an objectionable publication.

The court also heard how Rowlands had filmed himself in sexual acts with his two pet dogs and distributed the recordings online.

Carl Joseph Ward Rowlands was sentenced in the Hamilton District Court on Monday.
CHRISTEL YARDLEY/STUFF

“These are disgusting images and how anyone can have a prurient interest in them is difficult to understand,” Judge Robert Spear said in sentencing.

Rowlands had engaged in a significant way with child sexual exploitation and was an active participant in the industry, he said.

“If people like yourself did not display an interest in material of this nature, the young girls and boys in the images and videos would have less chance of being exploited by people who seek to make financial gain from that level of abuse.”

In December 2018, an image depicting child exploitation was uploaded as the profile picture of an online group messenger account operated by Rowlands, the summary of facts states.

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police notified a detective with the Police Online Child Exploitation Across New Zealand advising that an image of a child had been traded on the internet using peer to peer file networks.

Rowlands was found to be the owner of the Samsung mobile used to download the image and was interviewed by police. When interviewed, Rowlands admitted downloading a single image of a girl under 12 engaged in a sexual act. His phone was seized and sent for forensic analysis.

Police discovered an app called the “secret calculator”. The app appears as a normal calculator on a phone but when a pin is entered, files stored become accessible.

It contained a total of 326 files - 270 images and 56 videos. Of those, 181 were deemed ‘Category A’ involving sexual activity with children and animals.

The files showed children from the age of two to 14 being sexually violated by male and female adults, in explicit poses and engaged in sexual acts with animals.

Some of the images were adults involved in sexual acts with dogs and horses.

Also found on the app were recordings of Rowlands engaged in sexual acts with his male and female dogs in the bedroom of his home. Between May and August 2018 Rowlands shared these videos with others via an online instant messenger service.

Crown Prosecutor Kaleb Whyte sought a starting point of two and a half years on the lead charge of possession of objectionable material.

The nature of the images were “grim”, Whyte said, and the defendant showed pre-meditation by having an app on his phone to hide the images disguised as a calculator, he said.

When it came to the second set of offending, Whyte said bestiality was the lead charge aggravated by the fact Rowlands filmed the acts and supplied it online. He contended that Rowlands was not persuaded to distribute the films but rather engaged in conversations with others online about the content, and “willingly” provided that content.

Whyte sought an end sentence of two and a half years on the lead charge with two and half to three years on the remaining charges on a cumulative basis.

Rowlands’ lawyer James Buckle sought a starting point 14-18 months on lead offending with an uplift of six months on further offending. He disagreed with the Crown’s approach to sentencing, saying the second set of offending did not reach the equivalent criminality as the lead offending and therefore did not warrant the starting point contended.

He said Rowlands had arranged counselling while in custody and had shown “insight and remorse”. He sought a discount of 20 to 25 per cent for guilty pleas and leave to apply for home detention.

Judge Spear told Rowlands, who stood looking down in the dock, that he would be going to prison “today”.

Given the number and nature of the material, age of the children and use of animals, along with Rowlands’ attempt to hide the information, Spear adopted a starting point of two years and six months’ jail.

The other charges also warranted a two-year starting point, the judge said, but taking into account totality he reduced it to three years and four months.

While Rowlands had struggled in life, described as a “loner”, there was nothing in the reports to suggest why he had become involved, he said. “I accept you were easily led into this offending and are socially inept, becoming fascinated in this because of your mature social interaction with others.”

I would call it 'immature' social interaction. Who 'led' him into this offending? Surely he did himself.

He gave a discount of six months for personal factors and a further 15 per cent for guilty pleas before sentencing Rowlands to two years and four months.

Eleven Irish plead not guilty to alleged sexual abuse, exploitation and neglect of four children

I don't know if this is all one extended family or just a rather large paedophile ring, but it is one of the worst stories to appear in this blog this year.

SIX WOMEN AND five men have pleaded not guilty to multiple counts of sexually abusing, exploiting and neglecting four children in Co Limerick.

One of the men is also charged with inappropriately administering medication to one of the alleged victims.

The 11 defendants appeared before the Central Criminal Court today where they each pleaded not guilty to a total of 36 charges on the indictment. There are close to 300 charges in total.

The defendants range in age from 26 to 77 and live at various addresses in Munster. They cannot be named to protect the identity of the children involved in the case. They are all on bail.

The charges include rape, sexual assault, sexual exploitation and child cruelty and neglect under Section 246 of the Children Act 2001. A number of the defendants also pleaded not guilty to failing to alert gardaí to various alleged crimes against the children.

The alleged victims are all juveniles – two boys and two girls – and the offences allegedly occurred at a number of locations in the Limerick region on dates between June 2014 and August 2017.

A provisional trial date has been set down for early next year in Dublin. However, the court heard that lawyers for almost all of the accused persons wish to have separate trials.

Mr Justice Paul McDermott set the matter down for hearing on November 16.

A 55-year-old man pleaded not guilty to five charges. These included raping a girl and inappropriately medicating her. He also pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting a boy, neglecting or ill-treating the same boy, and sexually exploiting this boy by inducing him to engage in a sexual act with another boy.

A 33-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to five charges. She denied sexually assaulting two girls. She also pleaded not guilty to allowing another female defendant to sexually assault one of those girls. She further pleaded not guilty to sexually exploiting one boy and neglecting or ill-treating him.

A 48-year-old man pleaded not guilty to four charges. He denied raping one girl and sexually assaulting the other girl. He pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexually assaulting both boys.

A 34-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to four charges. She denied three counts of sexually assaulting two boys and one girl. She also pleaded not guilty to a charge of failing to tell gardaí that the 55-year-old man had inappropriately medicated one of the children.

A 26-year-old man – the youngest of the defendants – also pleaded not guilty to four charges. He pleaded not guilty to raping one of the girls and two counts of sexually assaulting another girl and a boy. He further denied sexually exploiting the other boy on a football pitch by inducing him to engage in a sexual act.

A 31-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexually assaulting the two girls. She further denied sexually exploiting one of the boys by inducing him to engage in a sexual act with one of the girls.

A 35-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting one girl. She also denied one count of failing to tell gardaí that one of the men was sexually exploiting one of the boys and failing to tell gardaí that the 55-year-old man was inappropriately medicating two of the children.

A 77-year-old man denied three charges. He pleaded not guilty to sexually assaulting two girls. He also pleaded not guilty to one count of failing to tell gardaí that two of his co-accused had ill-treated or neglected children in their care.

A 56-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to two counts of sexually assaulting two girls.

A 36-year-old woman pleaded not guilty to two counts. She denied sexually exploiting one of the boys and failing to tell gardaí that two of her co-accused had ill-treated or neglected children in their care.

Finally, a 31-year-old man pleaded not guilty to one count of sexually assaulting one of the girls.

JAKARTA — A French national detained in Indonesia on charges of sexually abusing 305 minors (6th story on link) has died in a Jakarta hospital, after what police said on Monday was a suicide bid in his jail cell.

Francois Abello Camille, 65, died in a police hospital three days after attempting to kill himself, said Yusri Yunus, a spokesman for police in the Indonesian capital.

“He had attempted suicide on Thursday, then after they (prison guards) found out, we tried to help him,” Yunus added. “He died last night.”

An autopsy has yet to be conducted. The French embassy in Jakarta declined to comment. Although police confirmed Camille had a lawyer, they did not identify him.

Camille was arrested at a Jakarta hotel last month following complaints to police that he made sexual advances to underage women after paying to photograph them. When refused, he became violent, police said.

When he was arrested there were 2 young girls in his room. The creep thought he could avoid the pain of a trial and prison, but he has found out already that he is in for far worse than he could imagine.

Former teacher from Hemel Hempstead, UK, jailed for 16 months for sending sexually explicit messages to children

By Holly Patel, Hemel Today

A former teacher from Hemel Hempstead has been jailed for targeting young girls with sexually explicit messages, images and videos.

Khaled Miah, of Belswains Lane, pleaded guilty to attempting to cause a child to watch an image of sexual activity, two counts of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child and possessing two category C indecent images of a child at an earlier court hearing.

Today (Monday) he was sentenced at Luton Crown Court to 16 months in prison.

In addition, he will be added to the Sex Offenders Register, and will be made the subject of a Sexual Harm Prevention Order (SHPO) for ten years.

Miah was living and working in Luton in November 2019, when he first used an online chat site to talk to someone he believed to be a 13-year-old girl.

He took her number and began a conversation with her on WhatsApp; talking to her in a highly sexualised manner and sending her explicit sexual images and a video of himself.

He was arrested a few days later as a result of proactive police operation and was released under investigation.

He was then arrested for a second time in June 2020, when the Internet Child Abuse Investigation Team (ICAIT) discovered that he had been talking to someone he believed to be 12-years-old in the same way and using the same methods.

His phone was seized and investigating officers found indecent images of children saved to cloud storage that was linked to Miah’s device.

Paul Baddeley, Investigating Officer from ICAIT said: “We are pleased that Miah received a custodial sentence and that he is being punished for the offences he committed.

"As a former teacher, he thought he was talking to children the same age as the pupils he once taught, and to be caught not once, but twice, clearly shows that he didn’t think he was doing anything wrong.

"We benefited from working closely with the digital media investigation team, which was instrumental in securing the evidence from Miah’s phone.

“We are dealing with more and more online grooming and child sex offences, especially over the last few months, with children spending more time online and predators have used this opportunity to target them.

"Usually these offenders try and encourage the victims to meet them in real life – thankfully it wasn’t the case in this situation – but shows just how easily this could happen.

“This is a great opportunity for us to reiterate to parents how important it is to ensure their children know how to keep themselves safe online and to encourage them to tell someone if they have come across something online they don’t feel comfortable with.

“Any child can become the victim of grooming, no matter what their gender, ethnicity or background. If you think that this might be happening to you or someone you know then it’s important you speak out and tell someone you trust.”

To report concerns around child sexual abuse, call police on 101.
