Judge brutally slaps down Ghislaine Maxwell’s bid to free herself
Ghislaine Maxwell’s long-shot bid to overturn her sex crimes conviction was soundly rejected Tuesday — by a judge who ripped Jeffrey Epstein’s notorious madam for filing a “rambling” motion from prison.
“Maxwell’s claims are all meritless and all or almost all are frivolous,” Manhattan Federal Judge Paul Engelmayer wrote in a scathing 67-page decision.
The jailed sex trafficker’s Hail Mary bid for release, filed last December, failed to prove her claims that purportedly “new” information showed she was wrongly convicted on charges of luring girls into the pedophile financier’s orbit for more than a decade, the judge wrote.
“On the contrary, to the extent it is relevant, far from exculpating her, it incriminates her or reinforces the correctness of the legal rulings Maxwell challenges,” the judge found.
Maxwell, 64, is serving a 20-year prison sentence after four women testified at the convicted sex fiend’s 2021 trial about Maxwell courting them and trafficking them to Epstein to be sexually abused. The posh British socialite served as the disgraced money man’s right-hand woman, targeting girls from single-mother families and those in dire financial straits, trial evidence showed.
Federal officials transferred the infamous predator from a Florida lockup to a minimum-security prison camp in Bryan, Texas in August 2025 — sparking outrage from her victims.
US Attorney Todd Blanche has defended the controversial move by citing unspecified security threats that he says Maxwell had faced at her more restrictive lockup.
After her previous failed bids to get her conviction tossed on appeal, filed in vain by private lawyers she hired, Maxwell wrote a motion herself, or “pro se,” to Judge Engelmayer last December demanding her release.
The jailed abuser called herself the supposed victim of “constitutional violations” that amounted to a “complete miscarriage of justice” — claims that the judge ripped Tuesday, pointing to “extensive” evidence that established her crimes.
Maxwell’s self-filed motion was both “lengthy and rambling,” the judge added.
An attorney who repped Maxwell in her failed appeals did not immediately respond to a request to comment.
