Two Nova Scotia men charged with possession of child sexual abuse exploitation material

Two separate investigations lead to two men charged with offences related to child sexual abuse exploitation material (CSAEM), according to police.
On June 3, the RCMP Halifax Regional Detachment received information which indicated that CSAEM was located on a seized electronic device during an unrelated, concluded investigation.
Investigators with the Internet Child Exploitation Unit then conducted a search of a Dartmouth address and seized a number of electronic devices for forensic analysis.
On July 10, 31-year-old Kyle Brimicombe (see next story) was arrested without incident and appeared in Dartmouth provincial court on July 13 He faces charges of sexual assault (x2), sexual interference (x2), possession of child sexual abuse exploitation material (x3), making child sexual abuse exploitation material (x2) and access child sexual abuse exploitation material.
On March 23, investigators in the Internet Child Exploitation Unit received information that a person in Halifax could be accessing CSAEM online. On July 30, investigators conducted a search of an address in Halifax and seized a number of electronic devices for forensic analysis.
75-year-old William Lewis was arrested without incident and appeared in Halifax provincial court on July 31. He faces charges of possession of child sexual abuse exploitation material, access child sexual abuse exploitation material and breach of probation.
Lewis has been remanded until his next court date on August 24.
Both investigations are ongoing and being led by the Internet Child Exploitation Unit with the help of the Digital Forensic Identification Unit in the Integrated Criminal Investigation Division.
Anyone with information on child sexual abuse exploitation material is asked to file a report by calling police at 902-490-5020 or by using Cybertip, Canada’s National Tip Line for reporting online sexual exploitation of children, at www.cybertip.ca.
Eastern Passage man charged with child sexual abuse offences

An Eastern Passage, N.S., man has been charged with sexual assault and child sexual abuse exploitation material offences.
- Two counts of sexual assault.
- Two counts of sexual interference.
- Two counts of making child sexual abuse exploitation material.
- Three counts of possession of child sexual abuse exploitation material.
- One count of accessing child sexual abuse exploitation material.
One of the sexual assault charges involves a victim who was a toddler at the time.
Halifax police say on June 3, RCMP informed them that child sexual abuse exploitation material was found on a seized electronic device during an unrelated and concluded investigation.
Officers with the Internet Child Exploitation Unit then searched an address in Dartmouth and seized other electronic devices in order to conduct a forensic analysis.
Brimicombe was arrested on July 10 and remains in custody.
Some of the alleged incidents took place in 2022, while others happened between Sept. 30, 2024, and March 17, 2025.
It is unclear whether more than one victim is involved.
Brimicombe is next due in Dartmouth provincial court on Aug. 12.
41-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting teenage girl: Winnipeg police
A 41-year-old man has been charged in an alleged sexual assault of a 16-year-old girl in Winnipeg, according to police.
“The female was sexually assaulted at some point during their interaction,” the release said.
After that, the man dropped the girl and her friends off, police said.
Officers were contacted after the incident. Around 10 p.m. that night, officers responded to the Donald Street and River Avenue area.
The 41-year-old was arrested Monday and has been charged with sexual assault, sexual exploitation, luring a person under 18 via telecommunication and obtaining sexual services from a person under 18.
He was released on a court order.
Employee at SickKids hospital facing charges in child luring investigation

Another employee at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is facing charges in connection to an Internet Child Exploitation Unit investigation, the second in less than a month.
Toronto police say they began an investigation into the “alleged luring” of a person under 18 through telecommunications in October 2024.
It’s alleged the suspect communicated with a 15-year-old victim through social media and phone chat applications. He allegedly made inappropriate comments towards the victim and sent explicit images to them.
A warrant was executed in the area of Don Mills Road and Highway 401 on July 29 where multiple electronic devices and written documentation were seized.
Antonio Alvin Dela Cruz, 55, of Toronto was arrested and is facing charges of luring a person under 18 years of age by means of telecommunication, making available sexually explicit material to a person under or believed to be under 18, exposing genitals to a person under 16 years, accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material and possessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
He was scheduled to appear in court on July 29.
SickKids confirmed Dela Cruz was employed with the housekeeping team and was placed on leave immediately after they became aware of the criminal charges. They added he has since resigned from his role.
Dela Cruz is the second SickKids employee charged over the last month. Dr. Dilan Dissanayake was arrested back on July 21 and charged with possession of child sexual abuse and exploitation material, and accessing child sexual abuse and exploitation material.
“We acknowledge this news is deeply disturbing, particularly given the recent criminal charges involving a SickKids physician. To our knowledge, the two employees did not know or work with one another,” read SickKids’ press release.
SickKids said in both cases, Toronto police have indicated that there is no evidence linking the charges to the employees’ work at the hospital.
None of the allegations have been proven in court.
Violent sexual assaults in Windsor

A 66-year old man has been arrested following two violent sexual assaults in Windsor.
Police were called to the 1000-block of Goyeau St. around 11 p.m. on July 31 after a woman reported that she accompanied a man to his home where he became aggressive.
The victim told officers that she was tied up, struck with a metal bar, punched, threatened with a knife, robbed and sexually assaulted multiple times. He also threatened to kill her if she told anyone what happened.
Members of the Windsor Police Service Child Abuse and Sexual Assault (CASA) Unit identified the suspect who they said was linked to a second incident earlier in the day when a woman reported she was touched inappropriately in an elevator.
The charges include sexual assault, sexual assault with a weapon, assault with a weapon, forcible confinement, assault, robbery and uttering threats to cause death.
