Woman charged in sexual abuse of a 3 year old

Crystal Boulay, charged with two counts of sexual abuse of a child younger than 14, is scheduled to have a jury trial Dec. 21-22 in Wright County. A pretrial conference will be held Nov. 22 in Ozark County. Boulay, represented by public defender Lauren Kate Welborn, filed a change of venue motion earlier this year. Boulay was charged in July 2015 after the mother of a 3-year-old child that Boulay was babysitting suspected the girl might have been sexually abused.

The mother of the alleged victim reportedly told officers she had left Boulay with her two small children June 28, 2015, while she and her husband went out for the evening. The mother said when she returned she noticed a substantial amount of redness on the girl’s skin, and the daughter complained of pain in her genital area while the mother was changing the girl’s pull-up diaper.

The mother took the girl to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock, and an emergency room nurse there told Ozark County Deputy Tiffany Neill that the injuries were consistent with the details the 3-year-old had provided about Boulay’s actions. The child told her mother that “bubbles” were used during the alleged sexual abuse. Two bottles of bubbles, hand soap, hand sanitizer and a sexual assault kit were turned over to the authorities as evidence in the case.

After Missouri State Highway Patrol Sgt. Warren Wiedemann conducted a polygraph test on Boulay on July 2, 2015, the officer reported that “Crystal showed deception during the exam.” After the test, Boulay reportedly described an incident of sexual contact with the girl when the child “was sleeping beside her on the couch,” according to the affidavit. Boulay reportedly told the officer she was sorry and she “did it because she loved [the girl],” the statement says. Boulay then asked for a lawyer, and the interview ended.

An Enoch man accused of sexually assaulting a child waived his rights to an initial review of the evidence Wednesday.

David Mangiaracina, 45, was arrested on multiple child molestation charges in May.

His attorney, James Park, told Judge Keith C. Barnes in 5th District Court Wednesday that his client had opted to forego the preliminary hearing.

An arraignment has been scheduled for Aug. 17 when Mangiaracina is scheduled to formally enter a plea in the case at that time.

Park told The Spectrum & Daily News that it is still too early to tell whether the case will head to trial. “Nothing is definitive at this point,” Park said. “The state is still reviewing the discovery currently. We won’t know until we can look at it and maybe have our own experts look at some things as well.”

Mangiaracina is charged with two counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony, in addition to one count of forcible sexual abuse of a child, a second-degree felony.

According to the probable cause statement filed in the case, an alleged underage female victim told authorities that Mangiaracina had inappropriately touched her multiple times.

Reports indicated that the alleged victim told investigators about three separate incidents: one from 2012, one from 2013 and one from February of this year.

The alleged victim was 12 at the time of the first incident.

Mangiaracina was released from the Iron County Jail on $100,000 bail in May under the condition that he does not pursue any additional contact with the alleged victim.

Cortland, New York - An 82-year-old Cortland man has been accused of sexually abusing a girl over the course of about seven years.

Arthur Ward, of Elm Street, was arrested Tuesday after a seven-month-long investigation by the Cortland Police Department. A girl who is less than 11 years old disclosed to law enforcement officials that she was sexually abused by a family acquaintance, according to Cortland Police Lt. Richard Troyer.

The criminal investigation commenced in January of this year. Troyer said the victim was interviewed at Cortland County's Child Advocacy Center about the alleged abuse and revealed she was sexually abused on numerous occasions from September 2006 through August 2013.

Ward has been charged with 58 counts of first-degree sexual abuse, for alleged sexual contact with a person under the age of 11. He also was charged with 12 more first-degree sexual abuse counts, related to sexual contact with a victim under age 13, according to police.

In addition, Ward was charged with two felony counts of second-degree course of sexual conduct against a child and one felony count of attempted first-degree sexual abuse, which alleges forcible compulsion against the victim.

Police also charged him with two misdemeanor counts of endangering the welfare of a child.

Ward was arraigned in Cortland City Court and sent to the Cortland County jail with bail set at $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond. Further court proceedings are being scheduled.

Seems like awfully small bail to me.

Each count of first-degree sexual abuse carries a possible sentence of up to seven years in state prison, if the defendant is convicted.
