Singapore man admits to rape, sexual abuse of daughter as a child
He showed girl, now 13, pornographic videos and also preyed on her best friend

Time and again over 71/2 years, a man sexually assaulted his daughter when his wife was not at home, a court was told. This started when she was three, and he started raping her after she was nine.
The man, a permanent resident from a European country, regularly showed pornographic videos to her, including one of a child having sex with her father. He even preyed on his daughter's best friend, then nine years old, when she came over to play.
The abuse came to light after the friend was asked to confess her sins before taking her first communion as a Catholic.
Yesterday, the man, who worked here as a product manager, pleaded guilty in the High Court to three counts of rape. The man, 44, and now divorced, cannot be named due to a gag order to protect the victims' identities.
He will be sentenced on April 19.
Another 19 charges will be considered in sentencing, including four charges of rape and three charges of sexual assault by penetration.
Seeking 30 years' jail and 24 strokes of the cane, Deputy Public Prosecutor Yvonne Poon said the man fell utterly short of his roles as the protector and guardian of the girl, now aged 13. "She tolerated years of abuse despite knowing what the accused did to her was wrong, and disliking it; she obeyed him each time he wheedled her into compliance... and she continues to write him letters now, while he is in remand, to tell him that she loves and misses him," she said.
Defence counsel Amarjit Singh Sidhu sought 24 to 26 years' jail. "He concedes that what he did was wrong... It was deplorable," he said.
The court heard that the abuse started at the end of 2011 in the family's rented condominium.
The prosecutor told the court that the girl became afraid of showering alone after she saw people drowning on TV, which led to the man showering with her. He developed a sexual desire for the girl, realised he was a paedophile and there was "no turning back". He sexually exploited her.
After the family moved to another condominium, the abuse became more frequent, the court heard. While the girl's mother was at work or out of the country, he showed child pornography to the girl and carried out various sexual acts on her. The girl said "no" when he wanted to have sex with her, but he told her to try for a few minutes.
She did not tell anyone about the assaults as she did not want her parents to divorce.
When the girl's best friend, a foreigner who lived in the same condominium, came over, he kissed the friend on the lips and told her to keep it a secret, the court was told. Once, he molested both girls at the same time, touching each victim with one hand.
Eventually, the friend stopped coming over. She was in her home country in mid-2019 when she "confessed" that the man had behaved inappropriately with her in 2017. Her parents took her to make a police report when they returned to Singapore.
On July 1, 2019, the police went to the man's home and, after speaking to his daughter who was alone at home, found out about the sexual abuse. The man was later arrested.
The man estimated that he had sex with his daughter 10 to 20 times. He also said he had forced her to perform oral sex on him more often than he raped her.
I would bet it was closer to 100 times he raped her. Very few paedophiles are known for telling the truth.
I also suspect that he is a Muslim as he didn't rape his daughter, nor touch her friend, until both were 9 years old. The same age as Aisha when Mohammed raped her.
While he was diagnosed with paedophilic disorder by the Institute of Mental Health, the IMH said the disorder had "no substantive contributory link" to his criminal liability as his cognitive functioning and his capability to break the law to act on his desires were not significantly impaired.
Sex offender led Garda on high speed chase with teenage boy in his car

Breaking News
A convicted sex offender had a teenage boy in the front seat of his car when stopped by gardaí four days after receiving a suspended prison sentence for child abuse.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard that on July 21st 2020, Kevin Brazil (51) led gardaí on a high speed car chase through a residential area before stopping the car.
When asked about the then 16-year-old boy in the car with him Brazil told gardaí “I knew the way this would look”.
He told gardaí that four days previously he had received a suspended sentence for sexual assault. Brazil had pleaded guilty to seven counts of sexual assault of a 12-year-boy in the city on a number of occasions between April and June 2002.
And for that he got a suspended sentence? Are you sure he didn't get a gold watch?
DPP file
At that hearing last July the court heard that in 2002 Brazil admitted to garda investigators that he had sexually abused the boy, but no file was sent forward to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP). This investigation was revived in 2016 when the victim again went to gardaí.
Brazil of Wainsfort Manor Grove, Terenure, Dublin was sentenced in 2004 for 16 counts of sexual assault of another boy between March 2000 and July 2002. He received a sentence of three years imprisonment with the final year suspended.
Last July Judge Elma Sheahan said that if the original complaint in 2002 been properly prosecuted, Brazil would not be facing these charges at that point in time.
She said that if not for “the unconscionable delay of the state” a custodial sentence would be inevitable and suspended a three-year prison term on condition that he keep the peace and be of good behaviour.
Dangerous driving convictions
On Thursday Detective Garda Michael McGrath told Judge Sheahan that Brazil has since been convicted of three counts of dangerous driving in Dublin district court.
He told the court that on the night of July 21st last he was on mobile patrol at Fortunestown lane in Tallaght when he observed a car turning abruptly into a housing estate. Gardaí followed the car, which then picked up speed.
The car travelled into a cul-de-sac and the driver then started making a three point turn. Gardai activated the blue lights and siren of the patrol car, but the car failed to stop and mounted a pavement to get past the patrol car, narrowly avoiding a collision with the garda car.
The defendant's car then drove at speed through a housing estate, driving down the wrong side of a road and pulling out of a junction without stopping.
Dt Gda McGrath said the car then came to a halt and when gardaí approached the driver he identified himself. Brazil was shaking and told them “I'm sorry garda, I didn't know it was you”.
“I knew the way it would look to gardaí,” he said and told gardaí about the conviction for child sexual assault. The court heard that the teenage boy was referred to the Garda protective services unit and interviewed by child specialist interviewers.
Antonia Boyle BL told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions is applying to the court to have the suspended portion of the July sentence revoked.
Brazil is currently serving a prison term of two and a half years imposed in the Central Criminal Court for sexual assault of a 12-year-old boy in 2002. This sentence was imposed last January.
Judge Sheahan said that she wanted to consider the totality of matters before the court and adjourned the case to March 25th next year.
Jail for Dublin sex worker found with thousands of
'depraved' child abuse images
26 Mar 2021
Carlow Live
A sex worker found to be in possession of thousands of “depraved” child abuse images has been jailed for three years.
Bruno Binda De Souza, also known as Bruna Meirelles, (31) a transgender Brazilian woman, said she was introduced to child pornography by a client while using the drug crystal meth.
Dublin Circuit Criminal Court heard De Souza is married to an Irish man but has let her application to remain in Ireland lapse and will be deported when her sentence finishes.
De Souza, formerly of Brabazon Hall, Cork Street, Dublin 8, pleaded guilty to four counts of possession child pornography on a Mac Book and three iPhones, five counts of production of child pornography and one count of distribution of child pornography on three dates between December 2017 and July 2020.
The court heard the production counts refer to the production of text documents in the form of messaging conversations in which child sexual activity was discussed between De Souza and other parties. Illegal images of children were also shared by De Souza via WhatsApp.
Detective Garda Martin Allen told the court some of the child abuse images found were “unique” in that gardai working the Cyber Crime division had not come across them before.
Judge Martin Nolan said the accused had been in possession of thousands of “depraved images of child pornography”
He noted that she was engaged in prostitution and it seemed one of her clients encouraged her to look at this material. He said after being introduced she became interested and downloaded significant amounts of the material and engaged in text conversations and the exchange of images.
Judge Nolan said that she had no previous convictions and co-operated with the gardai in handing over passwords. He noted she is getting on well in prison and seems well capable of reform. He took into account the challenges she had faced in life.
Judge Nolan said he accepted crystal meth can affect people's behaviour but said she knew what she was doing was wrong. He noted she had offended on three different dates.
“I don't think she is a bad person but she committed serious offences and the court must punish her for her misbehaviour,” said Judge Nolan. He imposed a three year sentence, backdated to when she went into custody.
Additional evidence
Det Gda Allen told Kieran Kelly BL, prosecuting, that there were a number of searches of De Souza's residence, the first in September 2018 in which a computer and phone were seized. A second search took place in August 2019 and another phone was seized. In July 2020 a third phone was seized and De Souza presented herself to a garda station where she handed over passwords.
The equipment was analysed and 41 category one images of child sex abuse were found on the computer
The three phones were also analysed and each contained a variety of images ranging from 2,464 category one images and videos of children and 752 category two images on one phone to 12 images and videos on another. A small number of child “anime” images were also found.
Det Gda Allen said the children involved were aged between two and 16 years old. The images involved the penetration of children or children exposing their genitals.
He told the court that when gardai were investigating these offences the same images would often come up and garda kept a database of previously seen images. He said some of the images found in De Souza's equipment were “unique”, not having been seen by gardai before.
Det Gda Allen said 900,000 messages found on the equipment were also analysed and a substantial number of these conversations were found to relate to discussing child sexual activity.
The garda agreed with Caroline Biggs SC, defending, that there was no evidence of De Souza producing any images of children herself and no evidence she had access to any children.
Ms Biggs said that De Souza had been brought up by her grandparents in a rural area of Brazil. She moved to Sao Paulo where she turned to prostitution to feed herself and fund her transition.
There are at least a quarter of a million child sex workers in Brazil forced into the trade by hunger.
Ms Biggs outlined letters from family and friends who characterised De Souza as a kind, loyal and trustworthy person with no evil or desire for children in her.
A friend outlined in a letter that sex work in Brazil was very dangerous with transgender women attacked and sometimes murdered in the street.
Ms Biggs said De Souza came to Ireland in 2011, believing she could earn more money and have a better life here. She married an Irish man but began using crystal meth while engaging in sex work.
She handed in a psychologist report to the court and said it was difficult to ascertain what led to her offending behaviour but said there was no doubt crystal meth and her work were an influence.
She said De Sousa is willing to walk away from both of those and wants to know what is wrong with her. She said she was an excellent candidate for the Building Better Lives program or any treatment program having pleaded guilty and expressed significant remorse.
Former teaching assistant downloaded 5,000 images

A former teaching assistant downloaded and saved thousands of images of child sex abuse, a court has heard. Police found more than 5,000 indecent pictures and films on Iestyn Thomas' laptops and mobile phone, and in an online storage account he had.
Officers also found he had visited a Russian website which hosted such material some 38,000 times.
Swansea Crown Court heard the 51-year-old had used a laptop which was shared by other members of his family for some of his activities - potentially dragging wholly innocent people into the police investigation.
Ieuan Rees, prosecuting, said the offending came to light when police executed a search warrant at Thomas' house in Bonymaen, Swansea, early on the morning of March 4 last year.
He said officers seized the defendant's Huawei mobile phone, and Acer and HP laptops.
An examination of the devices and of a linked DropBox online account revealed a total of 5,300 pictures and films showing the sexual abuse of children. Some 774 of these were so-called Category A images, the most explicit kind. The examination also found 24 prohibited images of children, and 34 pictures and movies featuring animals classed as extreme pornography.
Mr Rees said the creation dates on the files reached back to at least 2015.
The court heard investigators also found Thomas had used internet search terms linked to child pornography, and had visited a Russian website which hosted images of child sex abuse around 38,000 times.
The prosecutor said it appeared from profiles on one of the laptops involved that it was a shared machine used by at least two other people in the family.
Thomas, of Cardigan Crescent, Bonymaen, Swansea, had previously pleaded guilty to three counts of making - downloading - indecent images of Category A, B, and C, and to possessing prohibited images and extreme pornographic images when he appeared in the dock for sentencing.
He has no previous convictions.
Andrew Evans, for Thomas, said while not an excuse for the offending, the defendant had been suffering from anxiety and stress for some time and had become, in effect, "addicted" to pornography and to indecent images.
Sin is progressive!
He said letters from family members and friends submitted to the court spoke highly of his client, and said there had never been any cause for concern about his behaviour during the course of his work with vulnerable people.
The advocate said Thomas had sought help from the Lucy Faithful Foundation - an organisation which seeks to tackle sex offending - and referred himself to counselling.
Recorder Simon Mills said Thomas had worked as a classroom teaching assistant and in a residential centre for teenagers with autism, and so would have been well aware of safeguarding issues and of the impact of sexual abuse on victims.
He said everyone who downloads and views indecent images of children makes a conscious decision to do so, and such behaviour is universally associated with a predisposition to being sexually attracted to children - whether the person admits that or not.
The recorder told Thomas he had engaged in "very determined access" of images, and the offending was so serious only a term of immediate imprisonment was appropriate.
He added that the defendant had betrayed his family by his actions, and said it was "utterly shameful" that he had carried out some of his activities on a shared computer meaning wholly innocent members of his family could have become involved in the police investigation.
Following the sentencing guidelines, and giving a one-third discount for his guilty pleas, the recorder sentenced the defendant to a total of 10 months in prison.
Thomas will serve up to half that period in custody before being released on licence under the UK government's early release scheme to serve the remainder in the community. The defendant will be a registered sex offender for the next 10 years, and was made the subject of a sexual harm prevention order to control his access to the internet for the same length of time.
Scots predator who said child sex abuse victims ‘enjoyed it’
jailed as police blast serial offender
daily record
A disgusting sex beast who raped a young child and sexually abused four others has been jailed for eight years.
Michael Taylor earlier pleaded guilty to carrying out a string of sickening attacks before appearing at the High Court in Edinburgh on Friday for sentencing.
The 71-year-old, who was also convicted of possessing indecent images of children, told investigating police officers that he became ‘overly friendly’ with two of the kids.
He denied forcing himself on any of the children, who were aged between six and 11, and said that “if anything, they liked it”.
Taylor, a part-time delivery driver, targeted the youngsters in Aberdeen between March and October last year. One brave victim later told their father what had been happening which sparked a major police investigation into Taylor’s vile crimes.
Officers have today welcomed his prison sentence and have hailed the children for their outstanding courage.
Detective Inspector Karen Main of North East Division’s Public Protection Unit said: “Michael Taylor is a sexual predator who preyed on vulnerable young children, manipulated and abused them. He exploited these defenceless young children for his own sexual gratification.
“Despite the appalling ordeal he subjected these children to, they have had the immense courage to speak out about what happened to them and their information has been vital to investigating this case. I would like to thank them for their bravery and courage. Their information was crucial to ensure that Taylor is prevented from preying on other young children.
“My thoughts remain with the victims and their families. I sincerely hope that today’s sentencing can bring them some solace in that the person responsible for these despicable actions has been held to account and now they can move forward with their lives.
