Hockey ace Evander Kane has been dropped by his team and could face criminal charges after reportedly faking a card to show he had been vaccinated – and the NHL is continuing to investigate abuse allegations by his estranged wife.

The San Jose Sharks have announced that they have dropped winger Kane from their roster "pending completion of the NHL's investigation" amid multiple reports that hockey bosses are looking into the alleged false card, which would be illegal in the US and Canada.

Top scorer for the Sharks last term, Kane hasn't taken part in their training camp since "additional allegations" were announced on September 22, although Kane was cleared of gambling on games.

Falsifying vaccination status can carry a jail term of up to five years in the US.

Kane's former partner, Anna, made the gambling allegations in an Instagram post, and documents obtained by Front Office Sports have shown that she has made numerous accusations of abuse against the 30-year-old in a domestic violence restraining order application filed as part of her divorce case.

AJ Perez, a reporter for the outlet, has publicly shared a number of disturbing purported documents from the application, including an allegation that Kane forced her to perform oral sex on him shortly after they had returned from a funeral following the death of their daughter almost immediately after she was delivered in hospital at 28 weeks.

The documents show that Kane claims the player called her a "pathetic loser and stupid b*tch", then told her that "you can't rape your wife" when he allegedly forced her to have sex with him against her will again while she was still healing from her hospitalization.

Perez added that there is no criminal investigation and that the case is being presented in a family court as part of divorce proceedings, adding that Kane filed for a restraining order against Anna in August because he said she assaulted him multiple times.

The papers also appear to reveal allegations that Kane "lost almost $1 million" gambling when the Sharks played the Vegas Golden Knights in the playoffs in 2019, and claims that he assaulted Anna after one of those games.

Anna also alleges that Kane tried to punch her in the face, only to strike their daughter.

Kane listed $1.5 million in gambling losses in bankruptcy filings in January, and Perez says that his sources indicate those are related to poker.

"Evander denies ever abusing Ms Kane or their daughter, Kensington, whom he cherishes," Kane's lawyer told the outlet in a statement.

"She has falsely accused him of betting on and throwing games, prompting an investigation by the NHL. We are confident he will be cleared.”

The team kick off their campaign against the Winnipeg Jets on Saturday, and NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly told The Athletic that he expected more news to be announced on Kane "relatively soon" and "in the near future, for sure."

The Sharks are likely to try to blood some of their younger players to make up for the goals they will miss while the Canadian is sidelined.

Kane has four seasons remaining on a $49 million, seven-year contract with the team.

A new video appears to show late Argentina legend Diego Maradona in a hotel with a girl who has alleged he seduced her as a 16-year-old and kept her locked in a room where she was plied with drugs.

Mavys Alvarez has claimed she was forced into receiving breast implants after she was groomed and flown to Argentina by Maradona's associates without the permission of her parents.

The clip, which has been obtained by Spanish-language media outlet Infobae, arose amid a human trafficking case lodged against the World Cup winner's entourage by Alvarez, who says she was introduced to him in 2000, when he was 40.

At one point in the video, Alvarez appears uncomfortable while Maradona films her, but in others she sings karaoke.

In another, she relaxes on a bed with Maradona as commentary from a football game can be heard in the background.

The ex-Napoli, Barcelona and Boca Juniors star also appears at various other intervals in the footage.

Maradona met Alvarez at a hotel where he stayed in a resort town, Varadero, when he headed to Cuba to complete a drug rehabilitation course,  according to The Daily Telegraph.

She alleges that Maradona moved her into a flat in the capital, Havana, and introduced her to his lifestyle of drugs and partying.

"It was the biggest mistake of my life," Alvarez lamented to Miami-based TV channel América TeVe last month.

"I was just a girl. I was pure. He was a stranger, he was rich and he paid attention to me. I could not say no."

After her experience in Havana, Alvarez says she was flown to Buenos Aires. It was there, in 2001, that she says Maradona and his associates kept her in a hotel room for almost three months while pressuring her into having breast implants.

"I was not allowed to go out alone... always having people in charge of my stay there," she described in a court filing while adding that her handlers had only let her out to go shopping and pay a visit to the zoo while she always remained accompanied.

Probed on why she had been silent for almost two decades regarding her allegations, Alvarez said she feared her family could be harmed by the Cuban regime.

Maradona had introduced her to former leader Fidel Castro, who is said to have hugged her and asked how Maradona had managed to meet such a beautiful girl.

Castro is said to have granted Alvarez permission to leave the country in order to attend a commemorative fixture for Maradona in front of 50,000 fans at Boca's iconic Bombonera stadium in November 2001, when few Cubans were allowed to leave the country.

Her claims have already been filed with the Prosecutor’s Office for Trafficking and Exploitation of Persons in Argentina, where she has been listed as a plaintiff in a suit filed last week.

As well as investigating Maradona's entourage, Alvarez wants the case to examine how Argentine immigration officers played a role in her ordeal by letting her into their country without parental consent.

Her lawyer, Gaston Marano, is quoted as saying that there was a "collusion between the foreign and local immigration authorities".

Maradona achieved god-like status in his homeland, where there was a period of national mourning after he passed away last year at the age of 60 from heart failure following brain surgery.

My love of Ukrainian MP has been going on for months, jailed

ex-Georgian leader Saakashvili says, despite wife’s shock at news

Former Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili has insisted his relationship with a top Ukrainian MP is no meaningless fling but a fully-fledged partnership. His wife has previously admitted she was surprised to hear his big news.

On Sunday, a post was published on Saakashvili’s Facebook page explaining to people interested in his personal life that his romance with Yelyzaveta Yasko is not new and his past relationship with Sandra Roelofs is finished.

“I am involved in much larger fights in my life than my private affairs. But as questions are also asked about that, I want to respond that all my previous relationships are over. And for the last many months, me and Lisa Yasko have joined our lives. We’ve been living together as a family of full-fledged partners. It is a great history of love, and I feel blessed,” he said.

Saakashvili also added that “I ask people to respect our privacy, as well as the privacy of Sandra, for whom I have tremendous affection, respect, and gratitude for an amazing life together. I am now concentrating on my fight, continuing with my hunger strike and have a resolve to go till the end.”

However, despite the jailed former president’s claims that his love affair has been going on for a while, Roelofs revealed last Wednesday that the news of the couple’s newfound romance came out of the blue. In response to a video, also posted on Facebook, in which Yasko announced their relationship, Roelofs wrote: “Many confused friends and associates are asking me about my personal life. I will not hide from you that the content of the video, made on Friday night, was unexpected for me, and the form it took was completely unacceptable.”

“Despite my personal emotions, I remain calm, I believe that we will emerge victorious from this struggle,” she added.

Saakashvili made a dramatic return to Georgia shortly after announcing his relationship with Yasko, despite an arrest warrant out for him, and was promptly detained. Weeks earlier, authorities alleged that he had plotted to kill opposition figures in Georgia in order to frame the government.

The country’s prime minister, Irakli Garibashvili, made the claims earlier this week, citing intelligence obtained by the Georgian secret service. Garibashvili has pledged that the former president will serve his full term in prison, where he is currently staging a hunger strike.
