On Being a Girl in Islam > Temporary Pleasure Marriage - When 10 y/os are sold into prostitution by their parents

  Another unbelievable Muslim practice

of raping little girls

When this little girl was ten, her father sold her and her niece, also ten, to a 60 year old man for $200. They were sold into muta’a, or “pleasure marriage,” a Shia Muslim concept in which a couple is temporarily “married” so that sexual activity can take place.

In this case, the man in question was able to beat and rape two little girls without the expense of taking them into his household afterwards. After the rapes, this girl and her niece ran away from their abuser. Unable to return home, lest they be sold and raped again, they now live under a bridge in Beirut. This, ladies and gentlemen, is Islam.

According to Grok:

The post features an LBC International TV interview with a young girl recounting how, at age 10, her father sold her and her 10-year-old niece to a 60-year-old man for $200 in Beirut for a mut'a temporary "pleasure marriage," during which they were beaten and raped before fleeing to live under a bridge.

Mut'a is a recognized form of short-term marriage in Twelver Shia Islam that permits sexual relations for a fixed period and payment, historically intended to regulate temporary unions but documented in reports as enabling exploitation of girls in poor or refugee communities in Lebanon and Iraq.

The case underscores persistent challenges with underage marriage and family-driven exploitation in Lebanon, where economic pressures, sectarian personal status laws, and poverty drive such arrangements among vulnerable families, as seen in multiple regional studies and media investigations.
