Just a few headlines from India for child sexual abuses that resulted in arrests in 2014. All but one are from one state - Kerala, but you can bet that child sex abuse in India is not restricted to one state.
Police have arrested a Thiruvananthapuram native on the charges of sexually abusing a two-and-a-half-year-old girl after kidnapping her while she was sleeping with her parents on the veranda of a shop in Kannur in the early hours of Tuesday. According to police, the accused, who is working in the fish market in Ayikkara, abused the girl around 2 a m. The accused will be produced before the court in the evening.
Thiruvananthapuram, (thank goodness for copy and paste) is the capitol of Kerala State which is on the southwest coast of India near the southern tip of the sub-continent.

The rape of a nine-year-old girl came to light at Pangode on Sunday. Pangode is a district in Thiruvananthapuram.
The Pangode police said the culprit was the girl’s stepfather. The child revealed all to her mother, who lodged a complaint with the police on Sunday, B. Jayan, sub-inspector, Pangode, said.
The police were likely to arrest the accused on Tuesday. A case was registered on Sunday and the victim’s statement recorded on Monday. The woman had taken some time to muster the courage to approach the police, the officer said.

Meanwhile, the police are yet to identify the two men who raped an eight-year-old girl, near Vallakadavu, (Thiruvananthapuram) on January 11. The girl was allegedly lured by two men near a lorry parking lot. She was then forcibly taken into a lorry and abused, Aji Chandran, Circle Inspector, Poonthura, who is investigating the case, said.
The child, was being counselled out of the trauma, Mr. Chandran said. A case was registered under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. The indications from the statement of the child were that her violators were speaking a language other than Malayalam, probably Tamil. With a lot of outstation lorry drivers frequenting the spot, the police were now collecting details of vehicles that were seen in the area, apart from trying to prepare sketches of the accused.

Kannur, Kerala: A 45-year-old school teacher was today arrested following allegations of sexual abuse of his girl students in Kannur, Kerala, police said.
The authorities of Perinthatta North ALP School in the district had earlier suspended the teacher P E Govindan after investigation on a complaint from a parent of a student to them, they said.

Police have arrested a 36-year-old man on the charge of sexually abusing his minor daughter in their house on many occasions. According to police, they arrested the accused, Chenthittayil Saju, resident of Farlongkara under Alakkode police station limits on Friday morning and he was presented in the court in Thaliparamba. Police said the accused had got admitted in a hospital to avoid arrest but he was held after he was discharged from the hospital. (Alakode is in the norther part of Kerala).

A 13-yr old school student was thrashed, molested and made a subject of attempt to rape in a slum colony in Mohali near Chandigarh. Accused Shiva Verma was held. (Chandigarh, is in far northern India just about 50 km from the foothills of the Himalayas).

Thamarassery police have launched a hunt for four more accused in the case of sexual abuse of a minor girl. Police had earlier recorded the arrest of five persons, including the stepfather of the survivor. Thamarassery is in northern Kerala State. This case was reported here in February.
