A Jasper, Alabama, man remains in the Walker County Jail after being charged with sexually abusing a female juvenile.
Sgt. Dayron Bridges, an investigator with the Walker County Sheriff’s Office, said 32-year-old Gary Archie Bryant was arrested Saturday and charged with first-degree rape, first-degree sexual abuse, first-degree sodomy and incest.
Now, how fair is that? While they don't name the girl who was so horribly abused, they do say that Bryant was charged with incest. It doesn't take a Philadelphia lawyer to figure out that the victim is his daughter.
The poor girl is now fair game for every bully in Jasper as though she hasn't been abused enough. The Sheriff's office should be held accountable for releasing that information.
“This case stemmed from a tip the Cordova Police Department received about a young girl who was allegedly being sexually abused by Mr. Bryant,” Bridges said. “During our investigation, we obtained information that led us to believe that the abuse in fact did occur.”
Bridges said the victim was taken to the Walker County Child Advocacy Center where she was interviewed, and officials determined there was enough evidence to file charges in the case.
“We consulted with the Walker County District Attorney’s Office and they agreed we had enough evidence to carry the case forward, and warrants were issued for Bryant’s arrest,” Bridges said.
Bryant is currently being held in the Walker County Jail on a $90,000 bond.
Jasper is a town of about 14,000 people northwest of Birmingham, Alabama.
