8-months pregnant teenager ‘strangled by brothers’

Meerut: An eight months pregnant teenager was allegedly strangled to death by her two brothers and her body thrown into the Ganges canal in the Uttar Pradesh city of Meerut in a suspected honour killing, police said on Friday.
The incident came to light when the 19-year-old’s body was pulled from the canal on Tuesday, Hastinapur police station officer-in-charge P.K. Singh said.
The victim was allegedly having an affair with a man from the same village. Her parents found out about it when she was unwell and they took her to a doctor, who said she was eight-months pregnant.
Angry over the affair, brothers Sonu and Bhoore and an accomplice took her to Gang canal where they allegedly strangled her and dumped the body, Singh said.
The post mortem report confirmed that the girl was strangled. A which murder case has been registered against the three accused.
The girl’s family have absconded and a manhunt is underway.

Teacher accused of sexually exploiting student,
forcing abortion
Lucknow: A 12th grade student of a Lucknow-based Kendriya Vidyalaya was allegedly sexually exploited for two months by her schoolteacher, who also forced her to terminate a pregnancy, police said on Tuesday.
According to the FIR filed by the girl’s family, 47-year-old R.C. Tiwari, a teacher at the central government-run school in Gomti Nagar area, had been sexually exploiting the girl since December last year on pretext of extra classes.
Tiwari and wife Anita, along with two women doctors, Jay Shree and Ashaqa Siddiqui, are also accused of forcing the minor to terminate her pregnancy at a private hospital on January 10, they said.
Upon her mother’s suspicion, the girl revealed the incident, police said.

Tiwari was arrested on Monday on the charges of rape, criminal intimidation and under provisions of Protection of Children from Sexual Offences. His wife and the two doctors were also taken into police custody, they said.
Meanwhile, the school officials said they have recommended Tiwari’s dismissal.
