A 12 year-old girl was allegedly raped and killed by her 29 year-old neighbor in Manila on Sunday night, a belated police report said.
The victim, Josephine Dealagdon, a resident of Building 30, Unit 29, Aroma Temporary Housing, Tondo, Manila, was found dead inside the house of a certain Evert Espanillo, 29, a truck helper.
Police said that the victim’s mother asked her daughter to buy mineral water in a nearby store at about 7 p.m. on Sunday night. The mother got worried when her daughter failed to return and asked her neighbors to help her find her daughter. Her daughter’s playmate told the mother that she last saw Josephine inside the suspect’s house.
The victim’s lifeless body was found under a wooden bed and was wrapped with a curtain. Police said that the victim was found half naked. The victim also had several scratches on her neck, face and right arm and blood was oozing from her mouth.
Investigators found pieces of evidence in the crime scene like (redacted), bloodstained curtain and a kitchen knife.
In a follow up operation on Monday, operatives of Tondo Station 1, led by Supt. Julius Añoñuevo arrested the suspect along the corner of Epifanio Delos Santos Avenue and Taft Avenue in Pasay City.
Police said Espanillo’s live-in partner told the police of his whereabouts.
Currently, the victim’s remains is undergoing autopsy at Nathan Funeral Parlor.
