Pathetic Perverts and Poor Policing Appear on Today's UK P&P List

Man jailed for life for killing niece…
who was also his lover

A man who smashed a TV screen over his niece and partner’s head after she refused to let him touch her sexually in public has been sentenced to life for her murder.

Christopher Wall, 58, had been arguing with his niece Hayley Wall, 25, while drinking on a night out in Bournemouth with friends on December 13, Winchester Crown Court heard.

Three students found the 25-year-old with serious head injuries on Charminster Road, and called an ambulance. She died nine days later.

The victim told paramedics before falling unconscious: “My partner smashed a TV over the top of my head.”

The couple’s lodger, Adrian Bassett, testified that he had heard the couple arguing loudly before she walked into his room “covered in blood.”

Bassett told the girl to call an ambulance, but she left home instead.

She's covered in blood and he tells her to call an ambulance rather than calling one himself. And then he lets her leave!!! Amazing!

One of the trio of students who found her told the court that Wall had initially said she had fallen down, but then admitted she had been beaten up by her partner.

The victim had also reportedly said her uncle wanted to touch her sexually in public, but she pushed him away.

Later on the same evening, Wall was found asleep in his bed with stab wounds to his back.

He told police his niece had attacked him with scissors and he had used reasonable force to defend himself.

Police found a damaged flat TV screen and blood stains in the bedroom and bathroom.

A blood-stained door on the landing bearing dark hairs stuck in one of its cracks had been knocked off its frame.

Jailing Wall for a minimum of 14 years, Judge Keith Cutler told him: “You felt you were in love. This all happened because your relationship was volatile, sometimes marked by violence and aggression.”

Wall’s barrister, Nicholas Haggan QC, told the court: “He is desperately sorry that Hayley died as a result of events that night. All he can do is apologise.”

Smuggler of child sex doll, given suspended sentence
From BBC Devon

Police found 600 indecent images of children on Brian Hopkins' computer

A man who tried to smuggle a child-like sex doll into Britain has been given a suspended prison sentence.

Brian Hopkins, 40, was arrested in October after a Border Force officer at Heathrow Airport found the sex toy addressed to Hopkins' home in Plymouth.

Police then found 600 indecent images of children on Hopkins' computer in November, Plymouth Crown Court heard.

Hopkins has admitted eight charges and was given a 10 month jail sentence, suspended for two years.

Warning: This story contains a graphic image that some readers may find upsetting

Hopkins admitting trying to evade customs legislation regarding the importation of a "child sex doll, which was an indecent or obscene article".

In a landmark ruling in July a judge ruled that child sex dolls constituted obscene items.

Hopkins' 1.2m (3ft 9in) high sex doll was imported from Hong Kong.

He also admitted three offences of possessing extreme pornographic images and four of making indecent child images. Almost half of the indecent images found were Category A - the "most severe", the court heard.

Hopkins' child sex doll
Judge Paul Darlow said that it was a "very sad fact of life and a dark reflection on our community" that child sex dolls were "becoming part of the paraphernalia of child abuse".

Hazel Stewart, senior officer with the National Crime Agency that investigated the case, said importation of child sex dolls was a "relatively new phenomenon" and they "are a real flag of a sexual interest in children".

"We are working hard with our partners in Border Force to stop them entering the country and then investigating and prosecuting the importers."

Border Force senior manager Julian Doughty said the case was "one of several" where officers' vigilance "has successfully led to the uncovering of offenders with a criminal interest in children".

Ali Rafati, defending, said Hopkins had "very little experience of sexual contact" in his life and had "never acted remotely inappropriately to children".

Judge Darlow said there was a "low risk" of Hopkins offending against children.

He ordered Hopkins to attend a rehabilitation course and barred him from working with young children for life.

Hopkins was also ordered to pay £425 costs.

Man caught with child abuse videos and
images of bestiality

A Sleaford man who was caught with indecent images of children after police raided his home has been jailed for 10 months.

Karl Heys, 35, was arrested after police executed a search warrant at his address in Sycamore Drive on January 11 this year.

Lincoln Crown Court heard police took away a computer tower which when analysed was found to contain indecent images of children.

Siward James-Moore, prosecuting, said: “When police arrived Heys seemed to appreciate the reason for their visit before they stated it.”

The court heard Heys was a heroin addict who had never worked.

Analysis of the computer tower showed it contained two still images in the most serious category of A and six videos including one 39 minutes in length which showed serious sexual abuse of a girl aged between 12 and 14.

There were 14 still images and two videos in category B and one category C image.

The computer tower was also found to contain 24 extreme pornographic images depicting people with dogs and horses.

During interview Heys mostly declined to comment but admitted he had downloaded the material and needed help, and was ashamed.

Heys, of Sycamore Drive, Sleaford, admitted three charges of making indecent images of children and one charge of possessing extreme pornography.

Sam Skinner, mitigating, admitted these were disgusting offences from a “pathetic and wretched” man but asked the court to consider a suspended sentence.

Mr Skinner told the court: “This is a man who not only needs help but who said so to the police and the Probation Service. There is a good chance he will co-operate and can be helped.”

Mr Skinner added: “He has an inability to explain what is a relatively low number of images.”

Passing sentence Judge John Pini QC told Heys he could not avoid a jail sentence for such serious category A images. The judge said: “These aren’t simply still images, one is a 40 minute film.”

Judge Pini added that it was real children who had been abused.

He said: “The problem I have here is that internet offending is an escalating and serious problem for the courts.”

Met Police pays compensation to Lord Bramall and Lady Brittan over disastrous Operation Midland investigation

The Metropolitan Police has paid £100,000 in compensation to Lord Bramall and Lady Brittan after raiding their homes during its disastrous Operation Midland child sex abuse investigation.

Lady Brittan

Lawyers for Scotland Yard agreed the settlements - which include gagging clauses - after accepting that the searches had been unjustified and should never have taken place.

But the Met is yet to agree any compensation deal with former Tory MP, Harvey Proctor, 70, who was falsely accused of rape and murder and lost his home and his job as a result.
It is thought Mr Proctor, who received a personal apology from the then Met Commissioner, Sir Bernard Hogan-Howe, is seeking more than £500,000 for loss of earnings and damage to his reputation.

Representatives for both Lord Bramall and Lady Brittan refused to discuss any payout, but a source said the terms of the settlement required all parties to keep the details confidential.

Lord and Lady Bramall

Operation Midland was launched in November 2014 after a man, known as Nick, came forward claiming to have been raped and abused by a VIP paedophile ring in the 1970s and 1980s.

Among those he named were Lord Bramall, a D-Day veteran and former head of the Armed Forces, Lord Brittan, the former Home Secretary and Sir Edward Heath, the late former Prime Minister.

Despite a lack of evidence to support the extraordinary allegations, Scotland Yard launched and 18-month investigation, which cost in excess of £2.5 million. During the probe, teams of more than 20 officers mounted dawn raids on the homes of some of the suspects.

The raid on Lord Bramall's home took place at a time when his wife, who has since passed away, was suffering from dementia. Police also searched the home of Lady Brittan, despite the fact that her husband was already dead.

Harvey Proctor

The inquiry was closed in March 2016 without a single arrest, and Nick is now being investigated on suspicion of perverting the course of justice and fraud.

Last year a review of the flawed investigation, conducted by retired High Court judge, Sir Richard Henriques, said the police had acted as if they were "looking for bodies or bodies parts", when carrying out the searches.

He also concluded that Scotland Yard detectives had misled a judge when obtaining warrants to carry out the raids.

In a damning report he said the lives and reputations of the suspects had been "shattered by the word of a single uncorroborated complainant".

He added: "I have no doubt that the District Judge was misled, and had he known the true position he would not have granted the applications. The gravity of a judge being misled in such circumstances cannot be overstated."

Five Scotland Yard officers were referred to the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) over the alleged blunders, but in March the most senior were cleared of any wrongdoing. The IPCC is continuing its investigation into allegations that the search warrants were not lawfully obtained.

Mr Proctor is understood to have been offered a similar settlement to that agreed with Lord Bramall and Lady Brittan, but has rejected it. He launched legal action against Scotland Yard last year after being completely exonerated of any wrongdoing and is also taking action against his accuser, Nick.

At the time he said he would be seeking damages for the "intolerable stress and strain" he had suffered after being falsely accused of such appalling crimes. He has also said in the past that he will not agree to any settlement that gags him from speaking about his experiences.
