The arrest of a Sonoma man suspected of child sexual abuse prompted Healdsburg police Wednesday to release the man’s photo as part of an expanding investigation.
Following publicity of Sunday’s arrest of Paul Dwayne Kilgore, 68, Healdsburg police have received at least three calls from people claiming to be victims or knowing of victims, Healdsburg Sgt. Luis Rodriguez said Wednesday.
Kilgore is in custody in the Sonoma County Jail in lieu of $1 million bail. Healdsburg officers arrested him on suspicion of two felony counts of ongoing lewd and lascivious acts with a child under 14.
Police began investigating in late August after hearing about an older man inappropriately touching two boys while in the hot tub and shower at Parkpoint Health Club in Healdsburg.
The investigation found Kilgore, acting as a mentor, in prior years had routinely taken youths to local parks and on overnight trips, and allegations included that during some of those trips he had performed lewd acts on boys, police said.
In previous years Kilgore had worked at the Sonoma Valley Boys and Girls Club, according to police.
The new information involved at least some allegations of acts occurring in other areas of Sonoma County. Healdsburg police are passing that information on to the appropriate law enforcement agency, Rodriguez said.
Officials asked anyone with related information to contact Healdsburg police Officer Craig Smith at 707-431-3377.
Delaware school aide was dating student

An Indian River School District paraprofessional was charged with having sex with a 17-year-old student she was dating, according to court documents obtained by The News Journal.
Nicole DeGirolano, 23, of Millsboro, was arrested Tuesday by Georgetown police and charged with four counts of sexual abuse of a child by a person in a position of trust, authority or supervision. She was arraigned and taken to Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $80,000 secured bail.
"What makes what she did illegal is that she was in a position of trust, and she abused that," Detective John Tyndall of the Georgetown Police Department told The Associated Press.
DeGirolano and her male student met through her employment at the school district. During the time period of the relationship, she worked at the G.W. Carver Educational Center in a special placement program for English language learners, according to David Maull, a school district spokesman.
Maull says DeGirolano, who was assigned this year to Long Neck Elementary School, has been placed on unpaid leave.
The student and DeGirolano first began talking via text messages, according to court documents, but in Dec. 2014, the two began having sex. At times, DeGirolano would drive them to different locations, according to court documents.
In April, the two moved in together, according to court documents.
In an interview with police documented in court papers, DeGirolano admitted to having a sexual relationship with the student. However, she would not explain how she met the student and requested an attorney at that time, according to court documents.
This is not the first time Indian River School District has dealt with sexual misconduct. In 2008, former Sussex Central High School principal Dana Goodman pleaded guilty to having sex with a 17-year-old student. John Thompson, a Sussex Central High School history teacher, was charged in June 2009 with having sex with a 15-year-old and sentenced to five years in prison.

More charges coming against Utah man
accused of child sex abuse
LOGAN — More charges may be filed against Dustin James Mangum as prosecutors said a second victim has come forward, accusing the 38-year-old Richmond man of sexual abuse.
Mangum was in 1st District Court Tuesday morning for a preliminary hearing. He never spoke as he stood next to his public defender Bryan Galloway.
Prosecutors already filed 23 charges against him, including eight counts of sodomy of a child and 15 counts of aggravated sexual abuse of a child. Each charge carries a penalty of five-years-to-life in prison.
State attorney Spencer Walsh said detectives had interviewed a second victim and he was currently reviewing her testimony. He told the court, based on the additional allegations, prosecutors would likely file more charges in the coming days.
Cache County Sheriff’s deputies arrested Mangum in August, after an 11-year-old girl claimed that he had abused her over the course of several years. Both she and the second victim reportedly knew the defendant.
During Tuesday’s hearing, Galloway said he knew of the additional allegations and possible charges. He asked the court to postpone the preliminary hearing until prosecutors filed their additional case.
Judge Kevin Allen continued the hearing until October 18.
Mangum is being held without bail in the Cache County Jail.

Mother, boyfriend charged in child sex abuse case
BY DAN SNYDEROKLAHOMA CITY (KOKH) — Oklahoma City Police have issued arrest warrants for a man they say sexually assaulted an 8-year-old girl, and for her mother who witnessed the act and allowed it to continue.
Police say 33-year-old Johnny Samples sexually assaulted the daughter of his girlfriend, 39-year-old Joanna Cortez, at least six times between October 2015 and March of this year.
In May, the girl disclosed the assaults to her aunt who had become the primary caretaker of her and her 14-year-old sister two months prior.
The girl told authorities that Samples had touched her "girl parts" on multiple occasions in a shed behind Samples' mother's home on the 1100 block of SW 54th Street.
She also said her mother witnessed Samples sexually assaulting her on one occasion. While the girl claims Cortez threatened to call the police, records show no call was made.
Police have charged Samples with three counts of Lewd Acts with a Child Under 14.
Cortez is facing two counts of Enabling Child Sexual Abuse.
Neither were in custody as of 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.
