Brain Surgeon Accused of Child Sex Abuse Allegedly Wanted to Create ‘Sexual Families’ with Young Children: Docs
BY JEFF TRUESDELL, People

A brain surgeon accused in a child sex abuse case allegedly wanted to create “sexual families” by having relations with a mother and daughter, and possibly impregnate the daughter so that their child might also be raised “sexually in the ‘taboo’ family lifestyle,” according to a court document obtained by PEOPLE.

Dr. James Kohut, 57, pleaded not guilty Monday in Santa Cruz, California, to 11 child sex abuse counts that carry a possible combined penalty of 165 years to life in prison, his attorney, Jay Rorty, tells PEOPLE.

Rorty successfully challenged the prosecutor’s right to deny Kohut bail, but for now Kohut remains in the Santa Cruz County Jail.

Prosecutors sought to keep Kohut behind bars by alleging in a 14-page court filing that, “for nearly 20 years,” the traveling neurosurgeon with a current permanent address in Arkansas has displayed “a sexual compulsion, and has solicited victims for decades.”

“Like the crimes charged here,” the document alleges, “defendant was soliciting mothers to engage in sexual acts with children.”

Among the examples cited, the prosecution referred to a Vermont woman who said she had a relationship with Kohut from 1997 to 2000. “During that relationship, he told her that he wanted to get her pregnant so she could have a child and they could be sexual with that child,” the document alleges.

The allegations continue: “He told her that he was most interested in children between the ages of 6 to 8. He admitted that he had been in a relationship with a woman in Florida who had a 13-year-old and a 4-year-old child. He admitted that he had sex in front of those children, and fondled the 13-year-old. He would explain that he wanted a ‘sexual family.’ He would ask her to recruit friends for him, and he wanted her to call him ‘daddy.'”

In another example, a woman from Australia alleged Kohut told her in 2003 “that he was searching for a woman who he can impregnate, and will then ‘raise their children sexually.’ He then asked [the woman] if she would let him impregnate and raise their child sexually.”

“Defendant told her that if he had a daughter, he would want to impregnate her at the age of 10 and raise that child sexually as well. He also admitted to having sexual encounters with other children in the past.”

“Finally, he asked her to find him children. He wanted her to volunteer as a homeless shelter or do babysitting jobs and find children that she would molest and he would then listen to them over the phone,” the document alleges.

The accusations are spread across multiple states and have been investigated by multiple agencies that include the Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office, Seaside Police, Australian Federal Police and the FBI, the document states.

Rashel Brandon (left) and Emily Stephens

California authorities charged Kohut and two nurses following an investigation that began May 9 when police in Watsonville, California, received information and a video “that showed several adults engaging in lewd acts with children as young as 3 years of age,” police alleged in a statement at the time of the arrests.

In addition to Kohut, police identified Rashel Brandon, 42, of Watsonville, and Emily Stephens, 29, of Tucson, Arizona. Both women were charged with lewd and lascivious acts with force with a child under 14; sending harmful matter with intent to seduce a minor; specific sex acts of a child under 10 and sexual acts with force with a child under 14.

Kohut allegedly had affairs with both women, and according to an arrest warrant served on Stephens’ in Arizona by the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, children allegedly were abused during one of those sexual encounters, repots KSBW.

It was not immediately clear if Brandon and Stephens have entered pleas or retained attorneys.

Court documents state that seven children connected to the case have been placed in protective custody.

Young Oklahoma man arrested for Child Rape

By Katherine Farrow The Duncan Banner

20-year-old Chance Dale Biffle has been arrested and is currently in Stephens County Jail awaiting formal arraignment after Stephens County Deputies were called in to assist Velma Police in a Child Sexual Abuse case.

June 20, Stephens County Sheriff’s Department was notified by the Velma Police Department that they were investigating, and needed assistance with, the investigation of the rape of a minor less than 16-years-old. According to Sheriff Wayne McKinney, the investigation was centered around the alleged rape and molestation of a minor child.

“The allegations are on him that he inappropriately sexually molested — and actually raped an individual on two different occasions,” McKinney said.

According to the Affidavit, a deputy met with the juvenile on the morning of June 20. The juvenile told the deputy about a few separate incidents that had occurred while the minor was with Biffle. The first  allegedly occurred approximately two months ago at a relative of Biffle’s residence in Stephens County during a sleep-over. The juvenile alleges that Biffle persistently inappropriately touched them over the course of the night, and that they continuously moved away from Biffle. Later that night, while the juvenile was asleep, Biffle again assaulted the juvenile. The juvenile woke and was eventually able to stop Biffle from continuing, but not before rape had occurred.

The second incident occurred approximately two months later at a different residence, this one also a relative of Biffle, according to the report. When the juvenile was left alone with him outside, Biffle allegedly again began touching the minor inappropriately. The minor then left and went inside the residence.

The minor stated that at one point Biffle had asked them if they would join him at another relative’s house. The minor told Biffle that they would not go if it was only going to be Biffle and themselves present, because the incidents only occurred when they were alone together. Biffle tried to talk the minor into letting him inappropriately touch the minor again, but the minor told Biffle they “did not ask or want any sexual favors from Chance Biffle,” according to the report.

Later that day, another deputy with Stephens County Sheriff’s Department made contact with Biffle at a business in Duncan. According to the report, Biffle was read his Miranda Rights, and then requested an attorney. Biffle allegedly told the deputy that he knew why they were arresting him.

During the time Biffle was being transferred to Stephens County Jail, he allegedly told the deputy that “he had planned to turn himself in.”

Biffle is currently awaiting his arraignment in Stephens County Jail.

Tyler man indicted on child sex abuse charges
By Whitney Mayfield

A Smith County man has been indicted on two charges of indecency with a child by sexual contact.

Ruben Candelario, 36, of Tyler was arrested on May 15.

According to an arrest warrant affidavit, the Smith County Sheriff's Office received a report in March, in reference to two children being sexually abused.

Candelario is accused of making two children, under the age of 18, engage in sexual contact by forcing them to touch his genitals. One of the children reported it happening multiple times and only at night, the affidavit states.

The affidavit references a separate report stating that Candelario allegedly stared through a window at a female victim, under the age of 18, while she was getting dressed after getting out of the shower.

Candelario has also been placed on an immigration hold in Smith County.  He was indicted on both charges on June 15 and is currently in the Smith County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

Tulsa Woman Faces 6 Federal Charges In
Child Sexual Abuse Case

TULSA, Oklahoma - A Tulsa woman has been charged with six counts of child sexual abuse for sexually abusing her 1-year-old daughter, recording the abuse and then sending the videos to her boyfriend in Florida.

Jerrica Lackey, 29, is charged with child sexual abuse of a child under 12.

According to the federal criminal complaint filed June 20, 2017, Lackey's offenses include sexual exploitation of a child, distribution and/or receipt of a visual depiction of a minor engaged in sexually explicit conduct and possession of child pornography.

The document shows the offenses took place between March 2017 and May 16, 2017.

According to the FBI Special Agent's report in the criminal complaint, Lackey recorded herself abusing the baby and she also took nude photos of the baby.

The agent stated that Lackey then sent the videos and photos to her boyfriend in Florida, who Lackey said requested the photos and videos. She said her boyfriend would get mad and "punish" her if she forgot to send the images and videos, the document shows.

According to the complaint, Lackey called 911 on May 16, 2017, to notify them that she'd molested her child. Lackey called 911 after the baby's father showed up to her home and borrowed her cell phone to make a call, but noticed messages from Lackey's boyfriend.

The father checked the messages and saw that the man referred to a mobile app called 'Kik,' and when the father opened the app he saw pictures and videos of Lackey and their daughter, according to the document.

The father then took the baby and told Lackey he was reporting her to the police and turning in her phone.

It was then that Lackey called 911.

She was taken into custody on May 22.

Lackey will appear in Tulsa County court on June 30th.

Stupid woman! You destroyed your life for a man who was a world class creep! What were you thinking?

I really hope they nail the creepy boyfriend!
